Can You Case It 56

This is my second post for today! If you are looking for the Creation Station Tour post scroll down a bit!

Hi there! Yes, this is post number 2 for today! My friend Eva asked me to be a guest designer on her challenge blog and I couldn’t say no! More on that in a minute. So yesterday I drove into Manhattan and parked in the garage, between the snow and construction there were no spaces to be had on the street! My friend Kim and I went and had breakfast at the diner, I had a Belgian waffle and some bacon, and then I walked down to my friend Isabella’s to drop off her Stampin’ Up! order. She wasn’t there so I left it in the entryway and then walked back up to my car. A nice walk, 60 blocks! It was a little bleak and overcast but I did take this picture of 69th Street on my way back…

69th Street

They did a better job of getting rid of the snow here than they did further uptown! I stopped at Starbucks and got a Venti soy no foam Vanilla Latte (my signature drink!) for the ride home which wasn’t too bad. I also snapped this picture of the bridge as I came across it, not too much traffic!

RFK Bridge

See how cloudy it was, not a very nice day and it was actually snowing at this point and continued to do so for a few hours. My friend Sue came by and picked me up for lunch and we headed over to the diner out here. I had a Greek panini which was sort of like a gyro and was pretty good. We stopped at AC Moore and then came back to my place for a while. It was so good to catch up with her and we will see each other again soon! I watched a few YouTube videos and then went overt to see Brian and Kim for a while. When I got back home I realized that I had forgotten to make my projects for the Creation Station Tour so I did those, wrote the post and finally got to bed around 2:00! A long but really great day!

Now back to the reason for today’s second post! This week’s challenge over at the Can You Case It blog is a color one just perfect for… well… Valentines!

They are very forgiving at the blog too, you can use any product that you want and also like colors if you don’t have exact! I had the idea in my head for the card as soon as Eva asked me guest design, I just had to wait for a few supplies! As I have been doing a lot lately the card base is just a piece of Whisper White Card Stock. My background is a piece of Basic Black that I heat embossed the Something Lacy Background Stamp in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on. For the greeting I used the new Hello You and the “Vintage” Expressions Thinlits to cut out some Real Red. I then heat embossed it with Simon Says Stamp Clear Fine Detail Embossing Powder a few times. I heated the powder and then immediately put it back in the embossing powder and repeated the process a few times. They are adhered with 2-Way Glue to a heart that is cut from Vellum with the Hearts Collection Framelits. I used Clear Foam Tape to adhere the heart to the card and a few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear and Red Sequins complete the card. I absolutely love the way the heat embossed words came out, they look like red shoelace licorice! I really hope that you enjoyed my second post and third card for today! Make sure that you stop by the Can You Case It blog to see what the rest of the Design Team have done with the colors and if you have some time make something and upload it to the gallery! Thank you so much for stopping by to hear about my day and see my card! I hope that you all have an incredible Sunday! 🙂

  1. My you are busy this morning. I am just sitting here looking at pinterest trying to find a birthday card to make for a friend that is turning 80. She is also a card maker so I need to find something really unique for her. I love your valentine. I really gravitate to anything black and whit with a pop of color. I had better get ready for church now. Have a happy Sunday!

    1. Yes Jamme, always busy but it’s all good! How did you make out finding a card to make? Black and white with some red is very classic! I hope that you had a nice Sunday! 🙂

  2. I LOVE this card – looks so elegant! Red is my favorite color!! Thank you for sharing your pictures too. Have a good Sunday and a great week!!

    1. Thanks so much MaryJo! I too love some red! Happy that you enjoyed the pictures too! Hope your Sunday was good! Enjoy your week! 🙂

  3. The mega-embossed expression dies ” love you” are very striking! Luckily both styles of fonts go so well together. The colors, especially with the white embossed Lacey background,
are a class act! Hope you get to relax today from all of your running around!

    1. Thank you Beth! I love how nice and shiny they are! It was great that they are same font! I did get a little down time! Hope your Sunday was good! 🙂

  4. You sure do cram a LOT into one day! Were you photographing and driving at the same time? Great picture, but shame on you! Your card here is good enough to eat! I can’t wait to try the multiple embossing. I will try some old SU fine detail embossing powder. It’s amazing how the two die cut words work together. Again, gorgeous card! I hope your SU package was still there when your friend came back. Nancy B

    1. LOL! Yes, I snapped a quick picture in the car! I made sure that there was no one else around! I do love the way the thinlits look all shiny! Thank you! She lives in a nice building so it will be there waiting fear her! 🙂

  5. Don’t you lie to us, Justin–I KNOW you have a clone. There’s no way humanly possible one individual can get done all the things you do! Ha!! Love the red “LOVE” card.

    1. Ha ha! If I did I could get so much more done, I would send the other one to work! LOL! Thank you! 🙂

  6. Really, really nice Justin. Love that “Love You”, but who wouldn’t? Looks good enough to eat, like licorice. I like the vellum heart and the back ground too. Guess, I just like the whole card. Did you really walk 6-0 blocks? WOW. Have a great Sunday.

(I tried at 6:30 a.m. and thought maybe it was too early and everyone didn’t post yet, but now at 10 a.m., I’m still not getting the Creation Station links. One back from you does not link up, page not found so you can’t go backwards and two past you Teneale Williams is not found either, and then I cannot get to any more Creation Station. Am I doing something wrong?)
    🙂

    1. Thank you very much Nancy! I love those thinlits embossed like that! Yes, I did walk 60 blocks, nice and invigorating! I did let them know that the links weren’t working and they fixed them, thanks for letting me know! 🙂

  7. Hi Justin:

Needless to say this is an amazingly beautiful card. The embossed words really do make it special. So, I’m wondering, since you cut the words out first, how the heck did you handle them to get them heat embossed especially since you heat embossed them multiple times? Do you have a secret way to do this or what? Also, I have used clear vellum tape before and it still shows through for me. Yours doesn’t show through – what brand are you using?

You actually walked 60 Manhattan length blocks yesterday? Are you kidding me? Well, you ARE a lot younger than I am but still, that IS a lot of walking. How do you ever manage to see so many people and do so much in one day? Shall we nickname you “The Flash of Long Island”? LOL Really though, you must only spend a few minutes with each of these friends to accomplish all you do. Every day you amaze me a little more. Keep up the good work! Love & Hugs, XO

    1. Hello Grace!
Thank you! I am in love with the embossed thinlits! I’m going to have to do that again! I adhered the words to a piece of card stock, just the edge, and that’s how I did it! The adhesive that I used was clear foam tape, and little tiny pieces too!
I did walk 60 blocks in about 40 minutes! I love walking in the city! Sometimes I don’t know how I get to cram it all in but it happens! And I don’t just spend a few minutes! Hope you had a good Sunday! Love and hugs to you! XO 🙂

  8. My favorite colors all in one card or should I say challenge? Love how this card came together, somple but elegant. I love how brillant the words are, my clear embossing powder does not give me this bright look, I may need to investgate a new brand.

Still avove freezing here at 37 but really damp and gloomy. Not complaining yesterday was gorgeous, and February is moving along, 21 days left

    1. Yes Linda! The fine detail embossing powder definitely gives it a much shinier look!
It’s raining here this morning, and is quite cold, sure everything will freeze! Ugh! I can’t wait for April! Just to be safe! LOL! 🙂

  9. Wow Justin, you really do jam-pack your weekend, does that make it seem longer? My weekend went by so quick – I feel like I only had the morning off! :-/ Love the photos, they bring back memories *sigh. This card is fantastic! The background is amazing – looks like designer paper, and the embossed words are gorgeous!! Like Grace, I also wondered how you handled them to get them embossed so flawlessly? Yesterday’s cards are beautiful too – the sheltering tree set is so cool, I’ve ordered it but I’m still waiting for my order… Hope you get a chance to relax before your Monday Justin, unfortunately my Monday is already here, so I better get moving! Cheers xoxo 🙂

    1. Yes Kelly, I do! Sometimes I don’t know how! LOL! Sometimes it seems longer and sometimes it just flies by! Not the greatest pictures but it was a gloomy day. Thank you! I really like that lacy stamp heat embossed in white on the black! The thinlits are so cool clear embossed! I want to do that to everything! Happy that you enjoyed the other cards too! I did relax a bit and watched the Grammys and Sam cleaned up! Hope you had a nice Monday! XOXO 🙂

  10. Wow! Wow! Wow! Justin,
I love it! My favorite colors, as you already know! This card is stunning! You’re just so creative and talented. Your work truly blesses so many people. TFS, hugs 🙂 Donna

  11. Hi! I watched the Grammys to see Sam Smith. He won 4! He was fantastic singing with Mary J. Blige too. I am so happy for him. Thanks for bringing him to my attention. Love his music! Have a great day! Nancy B

    1. Hey Nancy!
Yes!! I was so very happy that he got 4!! I am over the moon happy for him! He deserves it! I’m so glad that I got to share with you and that you enjoy him too! You have a good day too! 🙂
