Boy have I been tired lately! I’m not usually but ever since daylight savings I have been unusually tired. Don’t know what that’s about, hopefully it will pass soon! Work was nice today, for lunch Robin and I had Chinese. I had General Tso’s Chicken, quite tasty! Little Daniel was at my parent’s house, always a highlight to my week. We had to spend some time opening and closing the microwave door and then turning the hall light on and off. He is so easily amused! I came home and spent some time Skyping with Andrea and Eva while I worked on some projects. Tonight night is the Control Freaks Blog Tour, so be sure and come back for that!
My card for today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I want to thank Kim for choosing me as her Prince in last week’s challenge. You can see the winners post HERE and my original post HERE. Now on to this week’s sketch…
Believe it or not this card started out by me thinking that I wanted to use the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper! The card base for today is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Hello Honey that I embossed with the Spring Flowers Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I used the On Film Framelits to cut out a piece of Basic Black and adhered a piece of the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper behind it. Some Tangelo Twist is cut out with two of the dies from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits. The banner is cut in half and adhered to the card and the slide is adhered on top of that with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The for you is also cut out from Tangelo Twist and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensional pieces to the slide. My butterfly is from the Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum. I used my Tangelo Twist and Hello Honey Stampin’ Write Markers to color on the back and adhered it to the slide with another piece of Stampin’ Dimensional. A few Doodlebug and Pretty Pink Posh Sequins are scattered around and that’s finishes the card! I really do like that Adventure Bound DSP a lot, yes, I know, I have said that many times before so you know it’s true! LOL! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Thank you so much for your visit today! Have an absolutely awesome Thursday! 🙂

Good Morning Justin:
I have absolutely, positively got to try embossing on vellum. Your butterfly is amazing and I made a note to myself that it’s best to use the markers from BEHIND the image. As soon as I finish with all these party preparations I have promised myself that I will take a night and just play with the vellum! Of course, I also promised myself I’d spend time making embellishments with my shrink paper. LOL Hmmmm, in order to find time to do all this playing I think I’ll have to give up the spring cleaning thing. Oh well, nobody every died from dust right? 🙂
One day left and then another weekend arrives. Where do the days go? Just as I thought spring was actually coming I listened to the weather report for the weekend. GRRRRRRRRR (’nuff said). Wishing you a terrific Thursday –
Hey Justin – after you do your class at Stamp A Latte tomorrow night will you share the five cards you are making with us? Love and Hugs to you my friend. 🙂
Hello Grace!
Yes, you must give it a try! It’s really cool and easy once you get the hang of it! Thank you! I do love the way that butterfly looks done like that! The markers always look better when colored in from the back! If you have any trouble grace and we’ll find a way to do a video chat and I’ll show you how I do it! I need to clean in a big way but my crafting always gets in the way! LOL! Nope, I don’t think that anyone has ever died from dust!
Yes, I am happy that Friday is upon us! The days really do fly, but I think that’s because I always wish the week away! I have to stop that! We are to get up to 6 inches of the white stuff tomorrow, just when I thought we were finished!
I will share all of the cards that I have made at the classes starting over the weekend. They are not Stampin’ Up! obviously! Love and big hugs to you!! XOXOXO 🙂
I would love to video chat with you Justin BUT – I don’t have Skype nor do I have a microphone on my computer. I don’t even have WiFi. Hey, we are old and these new technologies do nothing but boggle our minds. Wish we had a youngster here to teach us. I’m getting tired of people laughing at me when I take out my flip phone to make a call! LOL You wouldn’t understand as your generation grew up with this technology. If someone comes to visit and plays with their phone I ask them to put it away as it is very impolite to spend the short time visiting playing with a phone. We just don’t seem to understand the addiction.
LOL! I would love to come and get you all updated Grace! I have moved my parents into the 21st century! If I can get them going I’m sure I could help you out too! Ha! If the flip phone works that’s all that matters! I had a flip phone once too! I agree that playing with your phone is rude but we are so connected it’s a bad habit! If you had a smart phone you too be hooked! 🙂
OMG! What a GREAT fast and easy card to make. Love it all. Also miss General Tso’s Chicken and chinese food in general but…well, I digressed!
YAY! Thank you so much Michael! Yes, you digress, but we will get some as soon as you return! 🙂
Hello Justin! Such a gorgeous card! Love the vellum butterfly! I haven’t done that technique in a while (coloring on backside) and I am reminded by your example of just how gorgeous that is! The little piece of woodgrain paper just makes everything on your card pop! Beautiful! I have heard more people say that the time change has made them very sleepy so you’re not alone in that feeling. Hope your day is off to a great start!
Hi Karen!
Thanks so much! Yes, the vellum butterfly is the star! It’s a fun technique and easy with great results! I so love that DSP! I wish it would stay around! I don’t know if it was the time change that has made me so tired but I have to blame something! LOL! My day was good, busy, very busy but good! Hope you had a great day! 🙂
Hi Justin, I’ve been following your blog for a couple of months now and wanted to congratulate you on being a (well-deserved) prince at FMS. Love your cards, your cheerful blog, and your photography — how you always have something matching in the shots. Thanks for sharing your talents! : )
Hello Sheila!
Thank you so much! I’m so happy to have you along on my journey! I’m glad that are enjoying all aspects of the blog! I have so much fun sharing little bits of my life along with my projects! I have fun with the little set ups too, glad that you enjoy them! Thanks for coming by! 🙂
Great card, Justin. I love the details, the papers and especially the embossed and beautiful colored butterfly! Thanks for sharing with us at Freshly Made Sketches!
Thank you very much Cindy! Have a wonderful weekend! 🙂
Hi Justin, one word – COFFEE!!! More coffee!! Getting more sleep also helps, but that’s no fun… Chinese is my favourite take away food of ALL time, it’s also the most expensive here, to feed my family of 4, it’s about $80-$90 so we save it for special occasions! It’s so cute the things you do with little Daniel, wouldn’t it be nice if everyone was that easily pleased?!? Today’s card is awesome – I love the bold colours. I didn’t even know Stampin Up had those photo frame and ‘for you’ dies, they’ll need to go on the ol’ wish list! And the way you coloured that butterfly is so clever, very realistic (bordering on scary, Lol!) It’s Friday morning here, bring on 5pm!! Cheers Justin 🙂 xoxo
Hey Kelly!
LOLOL! I have a lot of coffee! Believe me, 8-10 cups a day is more than enough! No, I don’t enjoy the sleep, feels like I’m wasting time! Chinese is also my fave! WOW That’s really expensive! We can get a lunch special with a main, rice, soup and a drink for $8! Daniel is the best! Yes, it ouwld be great if we were all so easily amused! There are all sorts of hidden treasures in the packs of dies! Ha! Scary realistic butterfly! LOL! Hope that you had a great Friday! XOXO 🙂
Humm…. I wonder who was more entertained, you or Daniel? I have been seeing o many ideas of coloring on velum, I need to try it, that butterfly is gorgeous. Great card, love how the film strip highlights the wood and the butterfly is perfect.
Today is my Friday? A three day weekend, I’m so excited. Hubby and I will be going to see Eric Church tomorrow, so excited. And tomorrow is SPRING! YES!
Ha! I think that he was entertained with the microwave and I with him! It was probably equal! You know how I feel about vellum! Thanks! Glad that you like the card! You are a lucky lady! I would love a three day weekend! I like Eric Church!! Have a great time!! Tomorrow is more snow for us! Boo! Have a great day! 🙂
Another great design, Justin! I *love* texture and dies. So fun!!!
Thanks El! I do love some texture on the cards! 🙂
