Ugh! Monday! LOL! Just kidding! It was a very weird day weather-wise yesterday. When I headed into Manhattan on the 8:11am train it was sort of looking like the sun was going to peek out. I went to see my friends Jon and Mary, they live over on the West Side so I took a picture of the Hudson River with all of the ice in it. When I left their house I decided to walk through Central Park. Well, that wasn’t a great idea, they really didn’t clear away any of the snow and ice from the path around the Reservoir, it was like an ice skating rink! I did stop and take a picture of it so you can see how frozen it is, but they had the fountain on today? By the time I got to my friend Ella’s apartment it had just started snowing. I was there for around two hours and the last picture is what it looked like after I left. Lot’s of snow again. 🙁
The Hudson, if you make the picture bigger you can see the ice!
The frozen Reservoir!
When I first got to Ella’s.
When I went to leave, that’s a lot of snow in two hours! I have said it enough but I’m well over Winter! 😛
Before I get to today’s post my friend Eva asked my friend Michael to be a guest designer on her Can You Case It blog and he made two really cute cards! Head on over to his blog here and the Can You Case It blog here to take a look! Thanks!
So moving along to today’s post which is for this week’s Paper Players challenge, but first thank you to Claire for choosing my card for her Cut Above! Here is this week’s theme challenge from Laurie…
Now after seeing the pictures from yesterday you can imagine how hard it was to channel Spring! LOL! I did manage to get some bright colors and flowers! The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Daffodil Delight that I embossed with the Spring Flowers Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I used a piece of Window Sheet and some Garden Green with the Ovals Collection Framelits to create the frame for the piece of Flowerpot Designer Series Paper. The greeting is from the Hello There Host Stamp Set and is stamped in Staz-On White Opaque Ink. I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals to lift the frame. My flowers are from the Flower Shop, Petal Potpourri and Petite Petals Stamp Sets and are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I used my Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers to color in the centers and put a little Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brushtip on them. A few more Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the card. I think that it’s nice and Spring like, bright colors and flowers! I hope that it makes you think of Spring and that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players theme challenge. Thanks so much for coming by to see my card and the pictures of the Winter here in Manhattan! Have an excellent Monday! 🙂

Hey Justin, thanks for posting the photos, they’re beautiful! I know, that snow must be a pain in the butt to live with, but gorgeous to look at!!! Cute card for today, very sping ‘ish’, the flowers look so good 🙂 It’s still reasonably hot here, a few degrees less than before. I’m trying to stay awake while watching Revenge. I absolutely love the Hamptons style homes – do you ever spend any time there? I’m off to bed, goodnight Justin 🙂 xxx
Hi Kelly! So glad that you enjoyed the pictures, I will admit that it’s pretty. I needed some Spring desperately! I actually do go out to the Hamptons, a friend of mine has a house out there. It’s lovely! 🙂
First, thanks for the shout out! Very much appreciate it. Second….LOVE this card. It’s gorgeous!
Hi Michael:
I checked out your baby cards and they are fabulous. I really liked the embossing folders you used. Haven’t seen those in this area. Thanks for sharing, your client will be thrilled I’m sure.
Absolutely Michael! Your card is great! So glad that you like my card too! Thank you! 🙂
Thank you for the bright sunny card. With the cold winter – I needed that.
Welcome Charlene! We all need it! 🙂
Very pretty flower card…It took the chill off me from seeing the snowy photos above. LOL Keep warm!
Thank you Deb! Mission accomplished then! LOL! More snow tomorrow! Yay! 🙂
Hi Justin,
As usual, your card is beautiful. I just love your attention to detail. Your flowers make me want spring to come even faster. Also, your pictures from NY are wonderful!!! Gotta love the city!. My sister lives in W Babylon and traveled to see me yesterday in that snowy mess. I hope you enjoyed your time in NY and got home without any problems!
Thanks so much Nina! Yes, I’m trying to get it here as fast as I can! LOL! Yes, I do love the city, more without all of the snow though! I did have a nice time in the city and the train was actually on time! 🙂
After all that snowy weather, it’s good to know spring IS on it’s way..sooner or later anyway!!!
Your card shouts spring, love the colors and layout. Thanks for playing along at The Paper Players!
So they say Laurie! I’ll believe it when I see it! Thank you! Have a lovely week! 🙂
I absolutely love the flower “cascade” on this card. Dimension makes such a difference on any card. I’m so happy that SU has punches to match almost all of it’s flower sets. The Sizzix is wonderful and so are the dies but using a punch is so much quicker and takes up so much less space on my work area. This is a great “brighten your day” card.
Glad you had a good time in the city despite the little bit of snow. However, you could have been nice and kept it in NY instead of sending it East to Maine where we sure as heck don’t need the additional 2″ we got. I’m starting to think I will never see the birdbath in the front yard again! LOL As always, thanks for sharing the photos. For my daughter’s 50th birthday she has reservations at the Waldorf. I don’t even want to think about what that costs! LOL
Oh, before I forget, I checked out Michael’s cards and they are fabulous. Thanks for the heads up.
Thank you Grace! That was what started the card, I had the flowers there and it grew! I think that the punches with the flowers are awesome! I too enjoy the punches for so many things, but I do love my Big Shot!
I don’t think that it’s possible to not have a good time in the city! I did try and get it all out while it was here, 5 inches was enough! I know exactly how you feel! I don’t remember what grass looks like! The Waldorf is not cheap, good for her! You have to live it up every once in a while!
So glad that you enjoyed Michael’s cards, he’s quite clever! 🙂
Of course I looked at your card first and I thought you fussy cut the words out! I have to read first!! Using the white ink on the window sheet was brilliant! Love the springy look. We need spring, but tomorrow we are supposed to get rain that will lead to floods. What is going on? Then it will be back to the freezing temps. Grace, our birdbath is on our deck rail and covered with inches of snow and ice. We keep the birds fed and try to make them happy.
I went to Michael’s site. I love his baby cards! Beautiful! I love the bright colors on his blog — a Brazilian influence? Colors that are right up my alley…
This weekend brings Daylight Savings Time, if I read my calendar correctly. Spring can’t come fast enough, but I hope it lingers. Enjoy the rest of Monday! Yes, you heard me about Monday…
Live long and prosper! Mr. Spock and Nancy B
LOL! That would be some fussy cutting Nancy! I think it makes the sentiment very subtle. I don’t know which is worse, tons of snow or tons of rain!
Glad that you went to see Michael’s cards! He loves bright colors, even before Brasil!
Yes, we will have light until 7:00pm! I love when the time changes, hopefully the season won’t be too far behind!
Mr. Spock did live long and prosper, he will be missed! XO 🙂
Hi Justin! Just what we all need—some bright, cheery flowers! Love your card! A perfect card for the snowy and cold weather most of us are having. I’m especially loving the garden green frame–so pretty! Love seeing your pictures and the ones from yesterday are no exception. We are expecting more snow tomorrow…ugh. I did check out Michael’s cards…I love those! You’re very talented Michael! Have an awesome Monday!
Hello Karen!
Yes, we definitely do need some flowers and sun! Thank you! I needed to brighten things up a bit! The city is beautiful all year round, even covered in ice! So glad that you went over to see Michael’s cards and that you enjoyed them! Hope you had a good Monday! 🙂
Your card is so gorgeous and definitely reminds me of Spring! The way you put the flowered dsp behind the window sheet and also stamped the sentiment – genius! It looks like an awesome spillover of flowers 😉 really like the Wink of Stella too!
I cannot believe the weather here, not complaining at all, it’s 75 here! I didn’t know it, got ready to pick up my son from school and we are definitely hot waiting in car line 🙂 maybe the cold is over, yay!! 😉
Thank you so much Jill! The card was very warming to make! LOL! The Wink of Stella is so neat, just a little sparkle! Oh, I’m so jealous of 75!! I would take a hot card, then I could put the top down! 🙂
OMG your pictures make me so cold! We have freezing rain, ice, sleet and snow coming our way. I am too numb to even speak on the subject matter. Judst want to stay under the covers for another month!
WOW! This is awesome, it shouts SPRING!!!! Love yoyr colors and the layout, especiaaly those words
LOL! It was definitely chilly in Manhattan yesterday! The pictures definitely convey the temperature! I too would like to hibernate! So glad that you enjoyed the card! 🙂
This card is just TOO amazing, Justin, so I’m commenting even tho I’m a day late. I love the NYC pix, also. Do you have any idea how much you brighten up our days? I mean it.
Thanks for making life fun.
Thank you Georgie! I was very happy with the card! Glad that you enjoyed frozen NY! You also have to know how much you brighten my days! Never forget that! 🙂
WOW! Another gorgeous creation, Justin! I love the gorgeous flowers and the Wink of Stella adds so much!
You know I love layers and lots of color! Beautiful pictures of all that snow in NYC! Thank you for joining us at The Paper Players this week! XX
Thank you so much Claire! I love that Wink of Stella, just some subtle shimmer!
I too like some layers! On the cards that is, not in the snow! LOL! Glad that you enjoyed the pictures! Have a fantastic weekend! 🙂
Beautiful, Justin! The colors are striking! I love the embossed back panel. My favorite part would have to be the sentiment on the window sheet. What a great idea to add shimmer to the centers of your flowers! Thanks for sharing at The Paper Players this week!
Thanks very much Ann! I forget about that White Staz-On, glad that I remembered! Have a fantastic weekend! 🙂
