Paper Players 239

Welcome to the start of a new week! I hope that you all had a very nice Easter/Passover with your friends and family! I had a nice day yesterday with mine! Daniel did his Easter egg hunt and was too cute in his little button down shirt and tie. I’ll have some pictures as soon as my brother uploads them! Taylor had a nice birthday too capped off by some ice cream cake! It was a lazy day but I did manage to come home last night and get some stuff done! As promised here is Taylor’s birthday card…

Taylor B'day Card 2015-WM

She is not a girly girl by any means and she really liked the card, especially the glasses!

It’s Monday and that means that it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

Paper Players #239

When I saw the challenge I got stuck on a particular set that I have had for a while but haven’t gotten to use! My card base is Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of Soft Sky and I stamped the bridge and greeting in Memento Tuxedo Black. They, along with the bus are from the Mama Elephant Sightseeing Photopolymer Stamp Set. The bus is stamped in Real red and cut out with the coordinating Sightseeing Creative Cuts. The buildings and roadway are from the Cityscape Creative Cuts. The buildings are cut from Brushed Silver Metallic and the roadway from Basic Black. My clouds are from the Lawn Fawn Blue Skies Lawn Cuts and are cut from Whisper White. I love the little scene that all of the pieces create once the card is assembled! I especially love that double decker bus! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players theme challenge from Jaydee! Thanks so much for your visit! Have a magnificent Monday! 🙂

  1. Hi Justin, was swamped with life this past week . . . all good. This card is so inventive. I love everything about it. Happy Birthday Taylor!
    🙂

  2. Wow, I love Taylor’s birthday card! Love the camera theme, and the use of that patterned paper in the photo frames is pure genius. You should enter this one into The Paper Players challenge too, you certainly have enough die cuts! The scene you created with your sightseeing bus is perfect & amazing too, makes me want to hop on board! Have a great day, Justin! Hugs!

    1. Thank you so much Sandy! I think that I will add it to the Paper Players challenge too! I love that Mama Elephant set and that’s the first time I used it! Bad Justin! LOL! Hope that you had a nice day! XOXO 🙂

  3. Great cards once again Justin! I love the photography accessories too. Looking forward to the photos of Daniel hunting for eggs.

    1. Thank you Dana! I do love my props! I can’t wait for my brother to upload the pictures!! Wish he would hurry! 🙂

  4. Hi Justin!
Wow! Both of these cards are amazing!!! I love the way you put all the pieces together! Awesome!

  5. Hi Justin:

It sounds like you had a really nice Easter and I’m so glad. A day spent with family on a holiday is so special.

O.K. – So where the heck did you get those glasses for Taylor\’s birthday card? I’m not usually crazy about collage type cards but this one was fabulous. I’m sure she was thrilled to get it, I know I would be!

I love making scenes with my die cuts. I have lots of Memory Box and SU dies but it seems there is always another list of them waiting to be purchased. For me, dimension on a card is very important. As a result I go through dimensionals as if they were peanuts. I’ve bought other brands for the SU dimensionals are just the best. Your scene on today’s card is so fun! I will have to check out that stamp set.

I will spend today putting away the Easter decorations and putting the regular stuff back up. From Halloween until after Easter all of the “regular” household decorations get stored away. The hubs thinks I’m nuts for doing all that work when it’s only the two of us. I tell him I get bored looking at the same old stuff and enjoy the change. Now, if the weather will just please lean a bit more type spring I can get the windows washed and some fresh curtains put up. That will make me feel better for sure. LOL You have yourself a Marvelous Monday my friend! Hugs! 🙂

    1. Hello Grace!
Yes, I did have a very nice Easter! You are right, the best holidays are the ones spent with family!
The glasses are a My Favorite Things Die-Namics die! I love it and there is a matching stamp set too! Taylor did love her card!
I have gotten a lot more dies recently and I have fun with the scenes too! I too have a list of dies from Memory Box that I am getting! There is always more! I agree with you about the dimensionals, although I do enjoy the 3M foam tape! mama Elephant has some really cool sets!
I wish that I had time to do things around the house! My friend Heather is going to come by tomorrow night and help clean the apartment! I’m just too busy! Change is always good, especially a change of scenery! Spring is coming!! Hope you had a nice day! XOXOXOXO 🙂

  6. Good morning Justin! You have totally outdone yourself on both of these cards. Taylor’s card just ROCKS! I think the best I have seen you do in a long time!!!!! What a great Dad you are to her. And the double decker bus card – too freakin cute. Gotta get this set from Mama!

    1. Hi Michael! Thank you so much!! Wow! I really appreciate that! She loved the card! Said to tell you that she misses you! Love that Mama Set too! Hope that you had a wonderful day! 🙂

  7. I love Taylor’s card, are the glasses a die cut? Love the scenic card, are there double-decker buses in NYC or does it represent London? I did notice the union jack washi tape. I have not commented in a while because of the loss of our little granddaughter due to DIPG, but have been following your posts, reading them each morning was ‘normal’ if that makes sense. Keep hugging Taylor and little Daniel because that is what is most important in life.

    1. Thank you Lynne! Yes, the glasses are a My Favorite Things Die-Namics Die! We do actually have double decker buses in the city for tourists! It does represent London for me though! I am so very sorry to hear bout your granddaughter. How sad. You and your family have my deepest sympathies. There can be nothing worse than loosing a child especially so young. If I help you get some normal, I am happy to. I hug them as much as I can and see them as much as I can. Sending love and hugs to you and your family.

  8. Hello Justin! Hope your Monday is off to a great start! I love Taylor’s card! Just darling! I too, am wondering about the eyeglasses and whether or not that’s a die. Knowing you, you probably drew them and cut them out by hand. 😉 And your card for today is so cute! I love all the little die cuts. I love the sentiment, it’s so true, isn’t it? Lots of excitement around here with the Badger’s playing for the championship tonight. I don’t really follow basketball much but hard not to get caught up in it! Have an awesome, fantastic and fabulous rest of your day!

    1. Hi Karen!
Monday wasn’t too bad, hope that the same was true for you! Thank you! Yes, the eyeglasses are a die, I am not that good! LOL! But thanks for thinking that I am! I love that Mama Elephant set, love the bus and the bridge! The sentiment is absolutely true! Now if only we all listened! I don’t follow sports at all! LOL! Glad that you can get caught up in it! 🙂

  9. Another two WOWs! Taylor’s card is so much fun with that Adventure Bound DSP, I’m assuming, as I love that stack. The Non-SU products of the city scape and bridge make me yearn for a trip to the city. Simply brilliant use of the silver paper. Love it. Looking forward to the pics of Daniel. Do any include Taylor with Daniel? That would be great! Nancy B

    1. Thanks so much Nancy! I love that Adventure Bound DSP! I loved making the “city” card! Made me want to go into Manhattan too! I can’t wait to see the pics of Daniel, oh Jason, can you upload them please?! 🙂

  10. Thanks Justin for saying it was good to hear from me, I’ve lost a bit of my confidence so working on it & to learn to live with my ME. Your message gave me encouragement & I do know I’m luckier than others!

    1. It really was good to hear from you! I wondered where you had been. You are always missed here! You can do anything that you want to, never forget that!! XO 🙂

  11. Hey Justin, these cards are both awesome! You could have used Taylor’s card for the challenge, LOVE those glasses!! The bus card is so cool, it would be a great scene on a wall for a boy’s room 🙂 Speaking of rooms, how is the new apartment coming along? Can’t wait for those photos!! Well, my 4 day Easter weekend is over, time sure flies when you’re not at work… I did get some stamping done, so that’s good! Yesterday was the first day I have actually been really cold, it was 64, freezing to me, not even close to freezing to you 😉 Have a great day Justin! Cheers xoxo

    1. Hello Kelly!
Thank you so much! I am thinking that I will enter Taylor’s card in it too! Yes, love that bus! The apartment is a big mess at the moment! It is being cleaned tomorrow! It was 64 here today too! We both had the same temp! All that distance just seemed a little closer! Hope that you had a good day! 🙂

  12. Sorry I’ve been off the grid again! We left to go on a family vacation at the beach and it’s been a crazy mad time trying to get kids and hubby organized, lol! So, I’m going to try and keep up better, I’m finding out I just cannot do it all…

Wowzer, I’ve missed sooo much! I’m glad you had an awesome Easter and Taylor’s birthday too! How special is that – the Easter Bunny works hard there, lol!! I love both of these cards, you really outdo yourself quite a bit 😉 What a fabulous way to college the dsp on Taylor’s card and those glasses are AWESOME!!! I’m betting that you embossed those a few times to get the sheen and pop, am I right?? And your cityscape card, I LOVE the sentiment…we’ve got to slow down and enjoy everything along the way, right? 😀 It’s really hard to do that. Be still and in the moment…easier said than done!

The Easter Bunny found his way here and our littlest one found lots of eggs all over the house. We didn’t put them outside because of the ants, yuck! I think we are still finding a few, better find them all before we leave or the other renters will find presents, heehee!!

    1. Glad that you are back Jill! I too have to realize that I can’t do it all but I do keep trying! LOL!
Yes, I have been a busy little man! Glad that you enjoyed both of the card and yes, Easter was great! I embossed the glasses once, that Ultra Thick Embossing Powder is great! We definitely all need to slow down but there is notice for that!
Glad that your egg hunt went well! Where are you, if you don’t mind my asking?! 🙂

      1. We are in Hilton Head! Yay 🙂 It’s my first time here. Very nice, been a little bit chilly for a beach times, lol. Hope to relax and spend some family time. So far my oldest is telling us he’s bored, grrr! Our youngest is having lots of fun though. So nice to not really have a schedule, weird too, lol 😉 I’m going to enjoy every minute 😀

        1. Oh! That sounds like fun Jill! I have never been there! I need to get away and relax! Ahh… the children, never happy! I need to not have a schedule! But that will never happen! Glad that you are having fun, have some for me too! 🙂

  13. I LOVE!!! Taylor’s card. Those photos, and glasses are awesome! Great creation which I am sure she will cherish. Cityscape is AWESOME!! That Mama Elephant product line is so popular. My Easter was laid back and rexaing also, perfect day with family

    1. YAY! Thank you Linda! The glasses are cool! She is looking for a frame for it! Mama Elephant has some great stuff, I love working with their stamps and dies! I’m happy to hear that you had a great Easter! 🙂

  14. I am late, late, late with my comments this week – the kiddies are on school holidays and at last the sun is shining in the UK, so we have been out and about all week and I have done next to no stamping or blog reading at all – eek! Anyways, love both of these cards! Taylor’s is very cool and I love the pairing of the sentiment with those dies in the second one; I can’t decide on the location though – the bus definitely makes me think London, but the bridge NYC. Either way, very neat! Thanks for joining with our Paper Player die cut challenge this week!

    1. No worries Joanne! I’m glad that you are having sun and enjoying the outdoors! You will have plenty of time to catch up! Glad that you enjoyed the cards! I think that the bus and bridge are a pairing of both London and NY! I help that you have a fun weekend! 🙂

  15. Hope Taylor had a wonderful birthday! Really enjoy the card that you made for her. It speaks to me in a personal way, but I guess that’s how we all see things. It reminds me of the things that my Dad loved . . . the outdoors, nature, seeing parks, mountains, forests, the beach . . . capturing memories in photos and film. Love the sightseeing card, too . . . especially the sentiment. I agree . . . “the joy *is* in the journey”! Thanks for sharing.

    1. Taylor did have a nice birthday! Thank you El! I love when things speak to us! I think that the best cards are the ones that remind you of a something. The joy definitely is in the journey! 🙂
