Distressed Butterfly Wishes

Is it Thursday already?! We had more sunny weather yesterday, just how I like it! After work I headed over to Scrap-A-Latte to meet up with Michael so that we could choose the papers for next week’s card class. We had Panera for dinner with Nicholas and then came back to my house. Michael worked on his projects in Stampin’ Galley! He made a really neat card and a cute gift bag that can be used to hold a gift card. He’ll be doing a blog post soon to show his projects! For now here is a picture of him hard at work!

It’s a little bit of a mess in there isn’t it?! I’ll work on my projects over the weekend. I’m looking forward to the joint class!

My card that I have today is one that I made because I wanted to try out a new die that Michael had gotten me, The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Basic Black. The panel is a piece of Crumb Cake, I used one the the dies from the new Memory Box Open Studio Distressed Wyndham Collage Die Set to cut out the lower left side. All of the stamped images are from the Butterfly Basics Photopolymer Stamp Set. The flower and greeting are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and the dashed line is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I also heat embossed the butterfly in Gold on Vellum and cut it out with the Butterfly Thinlits. It’s adhered to the card with a teeny piece of Foam Tape. The panel is then adhered to the card with SNAIL and Fun Foam. I love that Memory Box die, it’s so cool! A nice simple birthday card with a slightly rustic feel to it! I hope that you enjoyed my just for fun card for today! I thank you very much for coming by and I wish you all an excellent Thursday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Love that die! At first on SC I thought it was a piece of black DSP! Very pretty card. Enjoy your Thursday! Wish I lived closer and take this joint class! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you Louise! The dies in the rest of the set are just as cool! I hope that you have a very nice Thursday too! I wish that you could take the class too! XO! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Justin,
Very pretty card!! That die is really interesting. I’ve never seen one like that.

  3. This is beautiful, Justin! The gold embossing adds so much, and I love the cool “window” die!

I also enjoyed getting a peek at the Stampin’ Galley! I love seeing where creative people work.

    1. Thanks so much Jeanne! The die is really neat! LOL! The Stampin’ Galley is a mess! I need to clean it up and then take some good pictures! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. VERY nice! When do we get a tour of your craft room? I like what I see so far; the pegboard, that drawer cabinet…r

    1. Thanks R.! As soon as I can straighten the whole thing up I’ll take pictures! That probably won’t be until late September! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thanks very much Maria! Yes, I agree about the die! The other dies are great too! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Justin, I saw this card on IG this morning and then was trying to remember how to pin from IG! So elegant and unusual!

    1. Thank you so much Sharon! Can you pin from IG?! I’ll have to look into that too! Glad that you enjoyed the card! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. The card is so beautiful! I just love the new die. The butterfly embossed on vellum is gorgeous — is the embossed vellum becoming your new trademark? It used to be sequins, but they are missing on this card. Nevertheless, I love everything about this card. The gold strip down the side is a perfect touch for balance. I can’t get over how much you accomplish in your galley! Wherever do you keep/use your Big Shot? I have 3 rooms for stamping and don’t do as much as you do in your “closet”! My bad!!! Great photo! Looking forward to Michael’s next post (give us the link, please). Love you guys! Nancy B

    1. Thank you very much Nancy! Yes, the die is great! I think that you may be right about the embossed Vellum, it’s my favorite thing to do! I still use sequins, just not as much. I think that I need to get some new ones! I’m so happy that you enjoyed the card! My Vagabond is on a little table as you walk in. I wish that I had a lot more space but it’s cozy and I can pretty much reach everything without getting up! I too am looking forward to Michael’s next post! I will be sure to share a link! We love you too! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. LOL! What an honor to have you create in the Stampin’ Galley! It’s like having a rock star in there!! Spacious… probably not… cozy definitely! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Good Morning Justin!

Love the card and I can’t believe that I’ve never seen this particular Memory Box die before. Even if I saw it I probably would have bypassed it because I would have thought “what the heck would I do with this?”! Your creative mind immediately knew exactly what to do with it and the result is just beautiful. Thanks Michael for giving that die to Justin. Now I’m going to have to check it out and take a second look at all the new Memory Box releases.

I don’t know how you can be so creative in such a small space. I’m so horribly claustrophobic I’d probably hit the panic button in there. I do think though that you have made fantastic use of every inch. My craft room is crowded for sure but I have a window and a very high cathedral ceiling. Maybe that is the secret, I have too much space for ideas to float around in but your space is compact so the ideas don’t “get away”! LOL
Wishing you a Terrific Thursday and can’t wait to see what you guys come up with for your next class. Hugs, ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hello Grace!
I hope that you enjoyed your anniversary! I love that Memory Box die! They have some really funky new ones! I couldn’t wait to use the die, I made the card in my head when I saw the die a few weeks ago!
Yes, the space is really small but I do love it in there! Everything is within reach, it’s just a little crowded at the moment! There is definitely not an inch of space that I don’t use! Maybe it is because I am so cozy! LOL! I hope that you had a great day and that you have an awesome Friday! Love and hugs! XOXOXO ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Fabulous card, very cool die! I love the galley, spent a lot of time checking out how you store your supplies.

    1. Thank you Dana! Yes, the die is fun! I promise that when I get back from London I’ll clean the room and give a full tour! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Hey Justin, what a gorgeous card! That die is amazing!! And your props go perfectly as usual! You certainly have loads of goodies jammed into your stampin galley! You may have to extend and take over another room ๐Ÿ˜‰ I hope your Thursday was great, my Friday starts now! Cheers Justin xoxo

    1. Hello Kelly!
Thank you! Yes, I do love the die, it’s nice and different! I do have a ton of stuff in that small space! I wish that I had more space as some of it has spilled out into the living room! LOL! My Thursday was good and I hope that you are having a great Friday! XOXOXO ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Love Memory Box dies, I have so many. This one reminds me of Tim holtz latest release, Mixed Media, use this die so often. Great card, love the vintage feel. Gold enhances everything.

OMG you pack so many goodies into your tiny space, I’d love to come over and play with your stash

    1. Yes! Me too Linda! The die definitely has a grungy feel to it! You know how I love a little gold!
The Stampin’ Galley is jam packed for sure. How cool would it be to have you for a crafty day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Love your card Justin! What a great Memory Box die and I love how you have used it. Black, gold and white go so well together. You are having some great stamping times!!
