I had such a nice day in Manhattan yesterday! Despite the packed train on the way in! It was so nice to see Jim and Diane! They really are two of the nicest people and kindest too! After I was done visiting with them I headed down to the Subway to make my way to The Ink Pad. The train was so crowded I didn’t have to hold on to anything! Once I got to Union Square I had a nice if not really chilly walk over to the store. It was so good to see Anna and she had some surprise news for me! She ran off to Vegas with her longtime boyfriend and got hitched! How fun is that?! We had lunch together and got all caught up! I was hoping to hear from my friend Kim so that I could see her too but by the time she text me I was already on the train on the way home. I did get to sit next to a very nice lady and we talked all the way! She had gone into the city to see the Radio City Christmas Show for the first time and loved it! Dad retrieved me from the station and we had Chinese food for Dinner. After that Taylor and I went to WalmartΒ and I bumped into my friends Dorothy and her hubby! We chatted for a bit, I love running into peeps when I’m out, such a nice surprise! Today I’m back at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store, I hope that Renee is feeling better!
I did manage to get one picture before I left the city. I had wanted to take more and stop by the tree and Bryant Park, I’ll go there the next time. This is 34th Street looking down at Macy’s, see how packed it was?!
When I got home I had to make a card for today and decided that I needed to play with some of the add-ons for the December My Monthly Hero Kit! To start the card I used the Hero Arts Party Confetti Background Die to cut out a piece of Black Card Stock and that is adhered to a piece of Gold Mirror Card with Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive. All of my images and greeting are from the Hero Arts Happy New Year Stamp & Cut. I heat embossed the greeting in Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder onto a strip of 48lb Vellum and folded the edges over the background before adhering it to a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. Next I heat embossed the clock, 2017 and 6 in more Gold onto more Vellum. The fireworks and top hat are heat embossed in Hero Arts Black Sparkle Embossing Powder onto Super Gold Curious Metallic. I used the Coordinating Dies to cut out the clock, fireworks and top hat. The Vellum pieces are adhered with Kool-Tak Clear Foam Tape and the rest with Black 3D Foam Squares. I love that Party Confetti Background Die, especially over the Gold Mirror Card in Black. Makes for an elegant and festive card! I hope that you enjoyed my card for today! Thank you for coming by to share in a little of my day! Have a simple Sunday! π

Justin, I love this New Year’s card!! It is so elegant and fun with all the vellum and die cuts. So cool. Glad you had a nice day in the City catching up with friends. Take care and have a great Sunday.
Thank you HJ! I really had fun making the card! I do love my trips into the city! Hope that you had a great day too! π
If you thought Macy’s was crowded, Rockefeller would be insane. Between people looking at the tree, St. Pat’s and the lights on Sak’s, it’s almost impossible to get down Fifth Ave. If you do go, make sure you have lots of time and lots of patience. Meantime, I love that gold mirror on this card!
Yes, you are right about that Leah! I think that if I do go I will go really early in the morning before everyone gets there! Glad that you enjoyed the card!! Have a great day! π
Hi Justin:
What a fantastic background die! It would be super fun to use on birthday cards with an ombre background! Black, gold (especially metallic or embossed) always makes for a very classy card. Then throw in the vellum and whoa la!, great turns into fabulous. I had no idea you could successfully emboss on metallic card stock. Again, I learn something new from you every day! Thanks. LOL
At least with all those people around you in Manhattan it must have helped keep you warm. Those crowds are NOT for me. I think if I every did get on a subway (my kids have been trying to get me on for years) I would totally freak out if it was so crowded I didn’t even have to hold on! Claustrophobia is tough to handle so why tempt it! π
So glad you had a good time and Congrats to Anna! Have your self a Super Sunday. Love and hugs, XXOO π
Hello Grace!
Thanks! I love that die and yes, it would work really well for a birthday too! I can emboss on almost anything! LOL!
I’m not a huge fan of crowds and no, it didn’t help with warming me up! It was definitely claustrophobic! I just look up! LOL!
I hope that you have a fantastic day! Love and hugs to you my friend! π
awesome
Thanks Donna! π
Justin,
First of all, I LOVE your pics of NYC. Doesn’t matter where in the city, I just love seeing them. We haven’t been there in so long, I miss it!!
Secondly, what a Fabulous card!!! LOVE the black and gold. The die-cuts are so cool… the embossed vellum… I love it all.
AWESOME!!
Hi Gerri!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Sometimes when I go to the city I don’t give myself enough time to do all that I want to do! Glad that you like the card!! I love the kit and the add-ons! So cool! π
This creation is fabulous. Black, gold velum, Love it. WOW! I thought we had crowds in Chicago. MY BFF from Gramar school was in NYC this weekend seeing a play. I am so jealous.
Well the snow hit, 6 inches I’m so depressed, its only early December. I really wouldlove to move, but my fav places are Moichigan or the East Coast. LOL, no better weather. I really do not like being out west except for San Francisco, and I cant afford to live there. Maybe someday.
Cards got mailed out, my daughter was over yesterday, she wrapped some of my gifts. Rather depressing, I sent her home around 3pm when it started snowing. We were planning on spening the day together holiday prepping, oh well her safety was more important.
Ever dump egg nog on a card? Don’t do it. I ruined two finished images yesterday, luckily they were not in card status yet but GRR…..
Thank you very much Linda!! The city was quite crowded! I do love to be there no matter what’s going on!
I got your snow last night but then it rained and it’s all gone! I would like to move to Key West or and island somewhere! If I never saw something lower than 50 degrees again I’d be good! LOL!
Sorry that your daughter had to leave but yes, her safety is more important. I don’t drink egg-nog but I’ll keep that in mind! I hate when I do stuff like that! I like to drop an ink pad on a card! Grrrr! π
I absolutely love this card! The colors are so perfect for New Year’s and this card just says “party” and “celebrate” all over it!!! Great job as usual!!!
Why thank you so much Sue!! π
Love this card! Great use of all the kit elements And wow! That background die is fantastic!
I was on the railroad on Friday night headed to the Barclay Center for the CBS Holiday concert a.k.a. Jingle Ball for Old People. We saw Sara McLachlan, Jimmy Buffet and James Taylor. It was great but the trains were packed –especially heading in with all of the teeny boppers going to the real Jingle Ball! Oh well, tis the season for crowded trains but I do love the city at the holidays!
Thank you Linda! I love that kit, they always have really good things in them, especially the dies!
Ha ha! I actually like all of the people that you mentioned so I must be an old person too! The trains around the Holiday’s are always fun… never! I too love the city around the Holidays! I need to get back in there before Christmas! π
did you die cut the black paper & lay the gold behind it?
Yes Donna! That is exactly what I did! π
Catching up with email from a month ago… yes, I am a store owner.
Thanks for celebrating with me (and sharing it with the world) LOL
Boy do you make a LOT of cards!!
LOL! Your special news should be shared with the world! You are my favorite store owner!! And yes, I do make a lot of cards! π
