  • Freshly Made Sketches 192

Hello there and how are you today? I’m ok, I did find out today that I won’t be picking up my car until Friday. Why is it that people can never stick to a time?! Oh well, what can you do?! Today was another gorgeous day! Sunny and a little less humid, perfect top down weather! Work, let’s skip that! LOL! As soon as I got in the car I put the top down and was immediately in my happy place! I came home and Skyped with Andrea while I made my card for today. Later on I went and met Michael, Sue and her husband for dinner at Texas Road House. I had a delicious Caesar salad and got to give Sue her birthday card. She loved it, but then again she told me that she was going to steal it when she stopped by my house last week! LOL! Dinner with friends is always a nice way to end the day!

My post for today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge but before I get to that I want to thank Kim for choosing me as her Prince for last week’s challenge. You can see the winners post HERE and my original post HERE! Now on to this week’s sketch from Jen M….

    Freshly Made Sketches 192

I wanted to use a star but that was too obvious! LOL! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and the front is covered in a piece of paper from the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the We R Memory Keepers Next Level Woven Embossing folder to emboss the basket texture on a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb. Some Fun Foam, SNAIL and Multi-Purpose Glue adhered it to the card. My circle is a piece of Daffodil Delight that I cut out with the Circles Framelits. The outer circle is cut from some Cucumber Crush using the Simon Says Stamp Dots Circles Die. My smile is cut from Watermelon Wonder with the Simon Says Stamp Smile Circle and they are both adhered to the card with 2-Way Glue. A few Pretty Pink Posh Watermelon and Shamrock Sequins are adhered around the circle and then the circle is adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. Another card with some bright colors but my favorite part is that Embossing Folder, such amazing texture! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you, as always, for spending a little time with me today! Have an amazing Thursday peeps! 🙂

  • Paper Players 250

It was another hot one here yesterday, and a little on the muggy side too. We were supposed to get rally bad thunderstorms but they missed us thankfully! It did rain for bit but not much. Work was tons of fun yesterday as always. Daniel was at my parents, he always makes the day little better! After I spent some time with him I headed over to Brian & Kim’s for dinner and Heather was there too. So nice to just sit on the deck and laugh, just the way summer should be! The clouds were pretty cool last night, don’t you think?!

My card for today is quite fitting! It’s for this week’s Paper Players theme challenge…

    Paper Players #250

I used a lot of the stuff from last month’s Simon Says Stamp Card Kit. The base of the card is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and I covered the front in a piece of Cucumber Crush. The patterned paper is from the Doodlebug Sunkissed Collection, I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Scalloped Borders Dies to trim off the right side and adhered it to the card with SNAIL. My panel in the middle is made from a piece of Pumpkin Pie that I cut out with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Journaling Card Die, next up is a piece of Daffodil Delight and another piece of the pattered paper. I used the Project Life Corner Rounder on them and adhered them to each other and to the card with SNAIL and Fun Foam. My banner is also from the Stitched Journaling Card Die and is cut from Tempting Turquoise and adhered to the card with Foam Tape. I cut the sunglasses out from another piece of Cucumber Crush with the My Favorite Things Die-namics Geek is Chick Dies, the lenses are a piece of Silver Foil Sheet. To finish off the card I adhered two of the DoodleBug Summer Sprinkles Shapes. I think that the card is bright and happy and with all of the ice creams on the paper and the embellishments it definitely fits the Summer Treats theme! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge! Thank you so much for spending a little time with me today! Have a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

  • SIP Challenge 2 – A Sketch from Me!

What a beautiful day it was here yesterday! In the 80’s with plenty of sun! An actual summer day! Work was busy, a typical Monday. I came home and had dinner, Skyped with Andrea while I made a card and then just vegged for the rest of the evening. A nice quiet way to end the day!

Today it’s time for the second Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge! I want to thank everyone that participated in the first one, what an amazing collection of cards we had in the gallery! Now on to this week’s which is a sketch from me…

    SIP Sketch Challenge 2

One of my favorite layouts! The card base for today is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I adhered a piece of Basic Black to the front with SNAIL. The main panel is a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb, down the left side is some of the map washi tape from Michaels along with the road one that comes with it. I adhered the panel to the card with SNAIL and Fun Foam. My tag is cut from another piece of Neenah 80lb with the Simon Says Stamp Large Tags Dies. I stamped the image from the Guy Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set in Memento Tuxedo Black and the greeting is from the “Vintage” Sale-A-Bration Set Big Day stamped in Real Red. Before I adhered the tag I took a Memento Tuxedo Black Marker and edged it to give it a little more definition. A piece of Hemptique Black Hemp Twine is tied though the top and then it’s adhered to the card with more SNAIL and Fun Foam. Three Recollections Enamel Dots complete the card. I love that map washi tape, especially paired with the card from the Guy Greetings set! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge! Head on over to the blog and check out the rest of the Design Team’s cards and enter yours in the gallery for a chance to be a pick for this week. Maybe you will even get audience favorite! Thanks so much for stopping by today! I wish you all a very happy Tuesday! 🙂

  • Mojo Monday 403

Yes, there goes another rapidly dwindling weekend. Although I have to say mine was very good. Yesterday was pretty relaxing. I had waffles with Taylor in the morning for breakfast and then went over to my parents’ because Daniel was there. He was in his “What’s that?” phase yesterday, that’s where he just sits and points at things asking, “What’s that?” over and over again. It’s usually the same thing, but he’s cute so it doesn’t matter. I came home and then Daniel came over to visit me, because he likes to do that now. LOL! We played a little bit more “What’s that?” in my house before he looked at me, said bye, grabbed my mother’s hand and left. The rest of the day I just relaxed, it’s nice to have a day like that every once in a while. I hope that you all had a good weekend too.

The good thing about Monday’s is that it’s time for another Mojo Monday challenge! This week’s sketch is provided by the very talented Julee Tilman…

    Mojo403

I haven’t done a mostly white card in a really long time, so I thought I’d give that a go today. My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I wanted my flagged piece and my greeting to match, so I coated the end of the flagged piece in Versa-Mark and heat embossed them with Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder. Next up is a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb that is adhered to the card with some Fun Foam and SNAIL. My greeting is from the A Whole Lot of Lovely Stamp Set and is heat embossed in the same Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder on Vellum. I die cut my wreath using the Simon Says Stamp Danville Wreath and adhered it to the card with Kool Tak Clear Foam Tape. To finish off the card, I adhered a few Hazel & Ruby The Makery Shine and Sparkle Sequins on the wreath with Crystal Effects. I really like all of the white with the splashes of platinum and I love the way the greeting and the wreath match. I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch. Please take a minute to head on over to the blog and see what the other designers have for inspiration for you and enter your card in the gallery so we can see your take on the sketch. Your visits are always greatly appreciated. Have a magnificent Monday! 🙂

  • Waves Ombre Anchor, Card Class and an Extra!

Happy Father’s Day! I will be spending my day with Taylor and my Dad who is one of the most incredible people I will ever know. He is kind and giving, willing to help anyone out at anytime. I can only hope to be as awesome as my dad is and I’m sure that you feel the same way about your fathers! Yesterday was a rainy day here. I went and picked up Michael and we took the scenic route through some towns on the north shore including Cold Spring Harbor to get to Huntington. We had a particular destinations in mind, a little stamp store called The Moon Rose. We met the owner, Diana Kovacs, who also designs her own stamps. It was nice to look around and chat with her, she and Michael knew many of the same people. The store is small and cozy, It’s located behind an art gallery called FotoFoto, there are two tables for classes and plenty of nice bright lighting. Here are some pictures of the store…

    Moon Rose 1

    Moon Rose 2

Oh look, there is Mr. Trent!

    Me & Diana

And here I am with the owner, Diana. You can visit The Moon Rose Facebook page and show her some love by liking it!

After our visit to The Moon Rose we went to SmashBurger for lunch and then came back to my house and just relaxed. Later on we stopped by Michaels to see Taylor and pick up a few things, including some Chinese food for dinner. When we came back to the house Michael remembered that he need to make a card for his dad so he headed into the Stampin’ Galley and made a nice quick card. He is going to do a post about it today and I’ll add a picture of his card as soon as his post goes up!

My card for today is also a nice simple Father’s Day one. I used Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock for the base and adhered a piece of Night of Navy to the front. The main panel is stamped with the Hero Arts with Basic Grey Waves Background Stamp inked in Pool to Navy Hero Arts Ombre Ink. Along the bottom is a piece of Bermuda Bay. I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Scallop Borders to create my waves along the top. My greeting is from the Guy Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Hero Arts Embossing Powder. I adhered some Fun Foam to the back of the panel and then adhered an MDF Anchor that I picked up from Michaels with Foam Tape. The top of the twine is tucked into a notched out piece of the Fun Foam and adhered with a Glue Dot. The panel is then adhered to the card with SNAIL. I really do like that Waves Background Stamp, especially inked in the Pool to Navy Ombre Ink!

  • Control Freaks June Blog Tour

    freakwelcome2013

Hello there and welcome to this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour! The theme for this month’s tour is more goodies from the NEW 2015-2016 Annual Catalog! If you are following along with the tour then you have arrived here from the very clever Debbie Henderson’s blog, she always has great projects doesn’t she?! Today, I have a card and a matching tag using one of my favorite new stamp sets from the new Catalog!

Up first is the card that starts with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. I covered the front with a piece of Blackberry Bliss. To create the shaker I started by stamping the Definitely Dahlia Background Stamp in White Staz-On Ink on a piece of Window Sheet. The frame is a piece of Very Vanilla that I cut using my Stampin’ Trimmer. It’s adhered to the Window Sheet with SNAIL. My greeting is from the Butterfly Basics and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Mint Macaroon. I put some Foam Tape around the edges of the back of the frame, doubled up for a little extra height, and then filled it with some clear seed beads and clear sequins. The back and the front are adhered together and then to the card base. My large butterfly is from the Watercolor Wings Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Blackberry Bliss on Very Vanilla. The second layer is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and the I cut it out with the Bold Butterfly Framelits and adhered it to the card with some more Foam Tape. I do love to make a shaker card and the addition of seed beads keeps everything moving!

    CF June Tour - Card-WM

For the coordinating tag the butterfly is created in the same way except it is stamped off once. I made the tag myself because I wanted it a little wider than the punch would accommodate. The Definitely Dahlia Background Stamp is stamped on the tag with Blackberry Bliss and the greeting is again heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I adhered the butterfly to the tag and tied a piece of Gold Baker’s Twine through the top. It hung on a bottle of MacMurray Ranch Pinot Grigio. A nice quick way to dress up a bottle of wine!

  • Pals Paper Arts 256

Another fun filled day! I haven’t gotten a lot of sleep these past few days and I was feeling it a little yesterday but I managed to perk up and make it through! Work was a little busy but I got a call from my dad that he had found a car that he wanted me to go and look at so I snuck out of work at 3:00. We went to the dealer and I test drove a 2004 Saab 9-3 Arc Convertible. I pick it up next Thursday! Yay! After that I picked up Taylor and Michael and we headed over to Scrap-A-Latte for card class. The Thursday class is a nice laid back one and we always have a good time. Michael took care of the social media posts and talked about his upcoming classes. It ended around 9:30 and I dropped him off and then came home and made today’s card. Like I said another fun filled day!

Here is a little group shot of us from class last night! A few people had to leave early but we’ll get them next time!

    SAL Card Class 6-2015

No on to the post. The card that I made is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

    PPA 256

I kept very true to the sketch and also kept the card really simple. My base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Go Wild Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the Triple Banner Punch to flag the ends of two pieces of Basic Black and a piece of Tip Top Taupe. The black ones are adhered with SNAIL and the taupe one with SNAIL and Fun Foam. My greeting is from the Bravo! Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb. I used a combination of SNAIL and Fun Foam to adhere it to the card. Finally, three clear sequins that Michael brought me from Brasil are adhere with Ranger Multi-Matte Medium next to the greeting. I really do like the simplicity of the card, we need them every so often right?! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. Thanks so much for stopping by and I wish you all a very happy Friday! 🙂

  • Freshly Made Sketches 191

What a nice day I had yesterday! I woke up at 4:00am and left the house by 5:00 to go and pick up Michael. His flight landed early and he was out by 6:45. We stopped at the diner fro breakfast and then headed over to Scrap-A-Latte to see Renee. He had brought some chip board and MDF from Brasil for her to sell in the store so while he set that up I did my cutting for class tonight. We were at the store for most of the day. After the store we stopped by my house to get his luggage and visited with Taylor for a bit. Then we headed over to the pizza place to meet Sue and her husband for dinner. What a nice way to spend a day off from work!

Today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

    Freshly Made Sketches 191

A super simple sketch that leaves a lot open for interpretation. I wanted something simple and elegant, you’ll have to let me know if I was successful! The card base for today is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I embossed the Definitely Dahlia Background Stamp on a piece of Basic Black with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My greeting is from the Happy Birthday Everyone Host Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum. I wrapped it around the back and then adhered it to piece of “Vintage” Brushed Silver. That is then adhered to the card base with SNAIL and Fun Foam. Three Simon Says Stamp Sparkle and Shine Sequins complete the card. I love the font in the sentient and that Dahlia stamp is great! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you of sharing a part of my day with me, I’m happy that you stopped by! Enjoy your Thursday! 🙂

  • Paper Players 249

Wednesday and I’m off from work today! Yippee! My post is also extra early because I’m going to retrieve Mr. Trent from the airport! He lands at 6:34, can’t wait to see him! Yesterday it tried to rain all day and was finally successful around 3:00. It only rained for a bit and then some more around 5:30 and then the sun finally came out. I had a nice evening. Daniel was at my parent’s so I got to spend some time with him. Here he is in all of his cuteness!

    Daniel Thomas Hat

With his little Thomas hat on and that adorable little smile! Love that little boy! The rest of the evening was spent crafting and straightening up. Taylor and I also ran to Michaels to get a few things for class on Thursday and Friday. Another pretty good day!

My post for today is for this week’s Paper Players color challenge from Sandy…

    Paper Players #249

Strangely enough this card started out with the two straight pins! The card base is Neenah Solar White Card Stock that I cut to 3 1/2″ wide. The front is covered in a piece of Basic Black and the background is a piece of paper from the Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack. For the large heart I used the Hearts Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Pool Party and then cut a negative with one of the smaller ones. The flower and border are from the Butterfly Basics Photopolymer Stamp Set, the border is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on the DSP and the flowers in Pool Party on the heart. The hearts is then adhered to the card with SNAIL. Next up is the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Filmstrip Die that is cut from Island Indigo and adhered to the card with two thin strips of Foam Tape in the middle. I used the Hearts Framelits again to cut out a piece of red felt and adhered that to the filmstrip with Multi-Purpose Glue. My thanks is from the Greetings Thinlits and is cut from Real Red and heat embossed with Iridescent Ice Stampin’ Emboss Powder then adhered with more Multi-Purpose Glue. Two hearts are punched out with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack from Real Red and adhered to the card with Foam Tape. I used the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen and then some Glossy Accents over that to give them some nice sparkle and shine. Three Hazel & Ruby The Makery Think Pink Sequins are adhered to the card with more Crystal Effects. Finally, the two straight pins that started it all are inserted into the felt heart. A fun eclectic collage card! My favorite pieces are the two punched hearts! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge from Sandy! Thank you so much for stopping by today! I always appreciate it. Have a amazingly awesome Wednesday! 🙂

  • SIP Challenge #1 – Reminder!

It was rainy and dreary here all day yesterday. A good day to be at work! LOL! After dinner I came home and chatted with Andrea on Skype and made a few cards. Not a very exciting evening but they are welcome every once in a while. My friend Kim got good news yesterday, she was approved by the board for her new apartment! That means that she will be moving in the next few weeks! Time to start picking paint colors and furniture!

My post for today is a reminder for the Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge! There is still time to play and add your card to the wonderful ones that are already in the gallery! Here is another look at the challenge…

    SIP Any Challenge 1

For my second dose of inspiration I decided to make a watercolor color card using some new pens that I recently acquired! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card stock and the background is a piece of Canson 140lb Cold Press Watercolor Paper. The main panel is another piece of the watercolor paper. I stamped the images from the Clearly Besotted Sweet Rose Photopolymer Stamp Set in Versa-Mark and heat embossed them with White Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. To do my watercoloring I used the Zig Clean Color Brush Pens and an Waterbrush. I first wet the area that I was going to color and then used the pens to fill it in. After I had finished and let it dry I heat embossed the sentiment from the same set in Ranger Gold Embossing Powder. The panel is then adhered to some Fun Foam and then adhered to the base. A few Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins add a little sparkle. I absolutely love the Zig Watercolor Pens, they are nice and easy to work with and the results are fantastic. I hope that you enjoyed your second dose of inspiration for the first Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge. Go on over to the blog and check out what else the Design Team has come up with along with all of the great cards already in the gallery! Thank you so much for your visit today! Have a terrific Tuesday! 🙂
