Paper Players 181

So, the Superbowl was great huh?! Ok, I’ll admit the only thing that I watched was the half-time show. I thought that it was a pretty good show, Bruno Mars sounds good live and appearance by the Red Hot Chili Peppers was neat if not a bit odd. There was plenty of food and friends to keep me occupied. My friend Michelle brought over fresh strawberries with caramel, chocolate ganachè, peanut butter and cream cheese dip for them. They were delicious and I had a hard time picking a favorite, so I sampled them a few times! LOL! I also had a nice day in Manhattan, I visited some people in the morning and then met my friend Kim for some lunch. We ate fresh, I had my usual BMT, I haven’t had it in a long time and it was yummy! I then stopped by my friend Julia’s house and her little girl Cecily gave me a card that she made for me. It’s so cute! I think we have a future crafter on our hands!

I even got some pictures for you. I was walking down the famous Park Avenue and snapped these. The first one is facing downtown and the second one is facing uptown.

My post today is for this week’s Paper Players, but before I get to that I wanted to thank LeAnne for choosing my card for her Cut Above in last week’s challenge. You can see my original post HERE and the Paper Players winners post HERE. Now for this week the lovely Anne Marie has given us this theme challenge…

As I was siting there pondering what I was going to do I spied a Vintage set of Framelits and that’s where the idea for this card began. My card base is Whisper White Card Stock. I stamped my sentiment on a piece of Coastal Cabana from the Countless Sayings 2 Photopolymer Stamp Set in Baked Brown Sugar. On the bottom part I embossed a piece of Baked Brown Sugar with the Scallops Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My lollipops are form the Sweets for the Sweet Stamp Set and are stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding and Strawberry Slush and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. I used bamboo skewers for the sticks and adhered them to the card with Multi-Purpose Glue. A piece of Window Sheet stamped with the “Vintage” Perfectly Preserved Stamp Set in Opaque White Staz-On and cut out with the “Vintage” Cannery Framelits Dies is adhered to the skewers with more Multi-Purpose Glue. To cover up the glue I cut out a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper with the heart from the Circle Card Thinlits Dies and adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I love the Window Sheet stamped with the Opaque White Staz-On, it really does look like glass and the Champagne Glimmer Heart give the card just a little bit of sparkle! Catherine & Cathy Create 22

Hello my peeps! Are you as happy that week is over as I am?! Work was actually pretty good yesterday, the job fair went as planned and I even got out an hour early. I met up with Anthony, Danielle and Bill for dinner, yes, we went to Friday’s again. Danielle and I needed more of that Tennessee Whiskey Cake! LOL! It really was that good! We stopped at Target after dinner and I came home and made my card for today. So all in all a pretty good day.

I’m over on the Catherine & Cathy Create blog today for this month’s Hearts a Flutter challenge. We ask that you make a project that has a love theme.

I decided to go with a French theme for my card. The base is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. For the background, I stamped the En Français Background Stamp in Sahara Sand on Very Vanilla. I cut out three Vellum hearts with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies and spritzed them with my concoction of Bermuda Bay Re-Inker and Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint. After it had dried a little I rubbed my finger across it to give it little bit of a vintage look. The hearts are adhered to the card with Vellum Adhesive. The stamped image is from the Follow My Heart Stamp Set, stamped in Soft Suede, and cut out with my Paper Snips. A piece of Cherry Cobbler is cut out with the “Vintage” Expressions Thinlits Dies and adhered to the card with 2-Way Glue. Three hearts punched out from Brushed Gold Card Stock with the Small Heart Punch complete the card. I really love the Vellum spritzed with the Bermuda Shimmer mix and yes there are those blue and reds that I can’t see to get away from lately! LOL! Fab Friday 34

It’s Friday! Thank the lord! This week has been a not that great week at work. We have the Job Fair at the college this morning and I need to be there at 7:00. I was working on three different projects all at the same time yesterday, if I was a computer my processor would be fried! LOL! But today will be a good day, I will make it a good day! How’s that for some positive thoughts! I also got to see my buddy Andrew last night, always a nice way to end the day! And you guys always brighten my day with your comments. Danielle wanted me to thank you all for your lovely comments about her card. She showed everyone at work yesterday, she was so proud! Making peoples days brighter, that is what my amazing blog readers do! 🙂

It has been a few week’s but we’re back! It’s time for the Fab Friday challenge!! This week we have a fun color combo for you…

As I looked at I thought… those colors look familiar, where have I… ahh… the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack (Cue lightbulb above head! LOL!). The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. I used a few different patterns from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack for my strips. The Crumb Cake Circle is punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. My flowers are from the Simple Stems Stamp Set and are stamped in Pool Party and Real Red. Have you noticed that when I use this DSP I have a mental block?! I always want to use Pool Party instead of Coastal Cabana! I actually do like the Pool party for the flower though! My greeting, from the Express Yourself Host(ess) Stamp Set, is stamped Versa-Mark and White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Real Red with flagged ends. A few Basic Jewel Rhinestones scattered around complete the card. Not overly complicated but I really do like the layering. Mojo 330 & Guest Card Maker

Ahh… Thursday, one more day to go! Don’t you just love the countdown to the weekend?! I know I do! Most of the snow that we got yesterday morning has blown away, it was nice and windy and cold here again. Work you ask, well it was crazy busy again! I did have a fun evening though. Danielle came over and we went to Friday’s for dinner. We even had some desert, the Tennessee Whiskey Cake and it was mind blowing-ly amazing! After dinner We came back to the house and Danielle sat at the craft desk and made her very first card. It’s a Valentine’s Day card for her boyfriend Derek. I think that she did a fantastic job! I love the colors and there is just enough grey to make it masculine but a good bit of love too! Here it is…

She colored the love in to make it look a little chalky and the Designer Series Paper is the “Vintage” More Amore from last year’s Occasions Catalog. I love the Smoky Slate with the paper, too bad we didn’t have that color last year! 🙂

Now on to my post for today which is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch…

A fun tall & skinny card! My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. A piece of Strawberry Slush and a piece of Gold Designer Vellum with some Gold Sequin Trim create the background. Next up is a piece of Blushing Bride that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder from Sale-A-Bration. I stamped the Flowerful Heart in Strawberry Slush and cut it out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. A piece of Coastal Cabana is cut out with them too and paper-pierced using the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack. My greeting is form the “Vintage” Perfectly You Host(ess) Stamp Set form the 2013 Holiday Catalog and is cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. I backed it with a piece of Gold Foil Sheet that I cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it all to the card. I really liked the sketch this week and love the heart hanging off the side of the card. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge and my friend Danielle’s card! Happy 95th Birthday!

Yesterday didn’t go as slowly as I would have liked! LOL! I did have a nice day. I spoke to Mr. King in the morning and did some crafting. After that I ran some errands and got my haircut and had lunch with a friend. I had a few hours to kill before I headed out to my work party so I did some research for a project. It started snowing here around 4:00, just enough so I had to clean the car off! I stopped and picked up Danielle and the drive was a little slippery but we made it. The party was fun and I do enjoy the people that I work with. I got home around 11:30 and puttered around the house for bit before turning in for the night. How was your day, do anything fun or exciting?!

My card today is for my Grandmother who lives in Pennsylvania. She is turing 95 on January 30th! I hope I make it that age and be in as good a shape as she is! She loves flowers so I had to put some on the card. The card base is Pear Pizzaz Card Stock and my background is a piece of Soft Sky that I stamped with the Woodgrain Background Stamp inked in Soft Sky. A piece of Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper goes down the left side. I stamped the flower from the Peaceful Petals Stamp Set in Basic Black and colored the flowers in with Soft Sky, So Saffron and Pear Pizzaz Stampin’ Write Markers. The Scalloped Tag Topper Punch was used to create my tag and I rounded the bottom corners with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. A piece of Pear Pizzaz 3/8″ Seam Binding Ribbon tied with some White Bakers Twine completes the tag. My greeting is from the Simply Sketched Host(ess) Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black and punched out with the Large Oval Punch. Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the tag and the greeting to the card. Not overly complicated but I love the way the flowers look colored in! Thanks for dropping by to see my card for today and I hope you have a fun Sunday! 🙂

Control Freaks January Blog Tour

Hello everyone and welcome to this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour featuring products from the 2014 Sale-A-Bration Catalog and Love! If you are following the tour you have arrived here from the talented Mary Brown’s blog. I’m excited to share my two cards with you, both of them contain some love so let’s get to them!

My first card uses some neat Sale-A-Bration goodies and is simple but fun! The base of the card is Strawberry Slush Card Stock and my background is a piece of Blushing Bride. I stamped the greeting from the Love You to the Moon Stamp Set in Strawberry Slush on the background and again on a piece of Whisper White. The heart is then cut out using the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies and adhered over the other greeting with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My banners are from the Banner Blast Stamp Set** and are stamped in Strawberry Slush and Blushing Bride. I used the Banner Punch** to punch them out and adhered them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A piece of White Bakers Twine goes behind the banners to give them something to hang from. I really like the greeting stamped in the popped up heart, it give the card a little something unexpected and the banners are just fun!

My second card starts with a piece of Crumb Cake Card Stock that I trimmed off the two top edges of to give it a tag look. A piece of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack makes the background with a Tea Lace Paper Doily on top of that. Along the bottom is a piece of Real Red that I trimmed with the Adorning Accents Edgelit Dies. I used the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies to cut out the hearts that are stamped in Coastal Cabana and Pool Party from the Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them to each other and the card. The greeting is from the Just Sayin” Stamp Set and are stamped in Coastal Cabana and Pool Party. Up top there is a piece of Real Red that I punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch and a piece of twine from the Sweet Shop Accessory Pack** is tied in a bow. The Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack has some great colors in it and I do love that Just Sayin’ Stamp Set!

Paper Craft Crew 76

First day back to work… not too bad! It was nice to see my co-workers, they sort of missed me too! It rained here all day today but that’s better than snow! I had to run and see my friend Betty after work and give her some Mac tutoring, bonus, she made some delicious meatloaf for dinner. Nice comfort food for a dreary day like yesterday. 🙂

It’s Wednesday so that means that today’s post is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch…

I was going to go with the colors in the sketch because I really like them but as you will see from my card I went in the complete opposite direction! My card base is Basic Gray Card Stock and my background is a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder**. A strip of paper from the Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper Pack goes down the left side of the card. I used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch and some Whisper White for my tag. The greeting is from the See Ya Later Stamp Set** and is stamped in Raspberry Ripple. For my flags I used the Banner Blast Stamp Set** inked with Bermuda Bay, Gumball Green and Summer Starfruit and the Banner Punch** is used to punch them out. Three Basic Gray Candy Dots finish off the card. Lots of colors but I think they all work thanks to the Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper! Love Simple Stems

And that a wrap on Leadership 2014! It really did go by fast! I had a wonderful time seeing everyone. I can’t thank Mary Fish and the Pals enough for letting me be a part of their wonderful group while I was here. They are awesome! I have another picture to share with you, this one is of Brian, Bonnie and I. She is just one of the nicest, funniest people ever!

The base of today’s card is Baked Brown Sugar and my background is a piece of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the On Film Framelits Dies to cut out a piece of Coastal Cabana and adhered it to the card with Multi-Purpose Glue. My greeting is from the Love You to the Moon Stamp Set and is stamped directly on the Designer Series Paper in Real Red. My flowers are from the Simple Stems Stamp Set. They are stamped in Real Red and cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits Dies. For the finishing touch I cut out a piece of Real Red with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and adhered the center of it to the card with Sticky Strip. I really like the colors in the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack and it’s cool that the new stamp set works with one of the current Framelit sets. Thanks so much for visiting with me today! Hip Sorbet Parade

I can’t believe that today is the last day of Leadership! The time really flew by, but it has been a great time! Yesterday there was a general session in the morning and then a really nice lunch. The afternoon was filled with breakout classes with all kinds of information. I had a very nice “dinner” with Nicole, Maggie and Linda and then last night was Stampin’ Night Out, with Make and Takes, demonstrations and Prize Patrol. It has been a really wonderful time and I’ll be sad for it to be over. I have some pictures of some of my friends and I for you, just some “selfies” that I took!

Now on to the card! Today’s starts off with a base of Pistachio Pudding and the background is a piece of Sweet Sorbet** Designer Series Paper adhered slightly askew. A piece of Summer Starfruit is embossed with the Scallops Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next up is a piece of Sahara Sand that is cut out with the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit Die. On top of that is a piece of Vellum that I cut out with the Banners Framelits Dies. My tag is created with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the images are from the Petal Parade Stamp Set**. The leaves are stamped in Pistachio Pudding, the large flower in Crisp Cantaloupe punched out with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch and the small flower in Summer Starfruit punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch. The greeting is from the Hip Notes Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black on Pool Party and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. A piece of Natural 5/8″ Chevron Ribbon tied with some Sweet Sorbet Twine** tops the tag. It’s very hard for me to make a card that is “crooked” but I like the way it turned out. Wooden Watercolor

Hello everyone! My presentation was so much fun! I loved doing it! I was actually a little sad when it was over. Thanks to all of you that were able to come and see me! I hope to be able to do one again in the future! Here is peek of me during the presentation.

Some updates for you from Leadership! Stampin’ Up! is coming out with new markers called Blendabilities! They are comparable to Copics and will be available in 12 sets of main colors and one set of flesh tones. The main colors will have three shades of each color and will be $11.95. The flesh tone set will have five markers and will be $22.95. There will also be a color lifter that will be $4.95. I played with them and they are great! Here is the little fox that I colored. You can see the subtle color change towards the top, I used all three colors of Pumpkin Pie that I used! There will also be a Memento Tuxedo Black Stamp Pad available for purchase to used with the markers.

Now on to my card for today. It starts off with a base of Very Vanilla. The main background is a piece of Soft Suede that is embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. On top of that is a piece of Daffodil Delight which is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I cut it to 3 1/4″ by 5 1/4″ and stamped the greeting from the Happy Watercolor Stamp Set in Tangerine Tango. My tag is a piece of Very Vanilla and I used the Angled Tag Topper Punch to create the top. The images and greeting are also from the Happy Watercolor Stamp Set and are stamped in Daffodil Delight, Soft Suede and Tangerine Tango. A piece of Gold Bakers Twine finishes off the tag and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I like the woodgrain peeking out from behind the panel on top, and we all know I love a tag!
