  • Pals Paper Arts 184 & Sneak Peek

Well, it was a beautiful day here yesterday! It was so nice that I even had the top down in the car for a while! I had a fun relaxing day. I had breakfast with Andrew and then we went to the mall. We met Heather at BJ’s and the went to Friday’s for lunch and I ended up back at Friday’s for dinner with Maureen! I even squeezed in some crafting time! It was a really nice day! 🙂

Thanks so much to Diane for choosing my card last week for pick! You can see my original post here and the Pals Paper Arts post here. My card for today is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. This week we have an interesting sketch from Margaret Moody…

    PPA 184

I wanted a overly blingy card and that’s just what I got! My card base is a piece of Whisper White Card Stock. For my background I used a piece of Basic Black that I embossed with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next up is the bling! I cut strips of Silver and Champagne Glimmer Paper and adhered them to a piece of Crumb Cake (not sure why Crumb Cake… LOL!). After I had them all adhered I trimmed off the excess and mounted it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Perfect Couple Stamp Set* and the words are heat embossed with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The mustache, stamped in Basic Black, and the lips, stamped in Real Red are cut out with my Paper Snips and coated in Crystal Effects to give it some shine. The greeting is cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies and adhered to the panel of Real Red, embossed with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed with a piece of Basic Black. My heart is cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits from a piece of Red Glimmer Paper and backed with another heart from the Hearts Collection Framelits. I love the mustache and lips coated with the Crystal Effects, I haven’t used it such a long time! Thanks so much for checking in with me today to see my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. I hope that you all have a fun Sunday!

  • Freshly Made Sketches 117 & Sneak Peek

I was up at 4:15 yesterday morning and to work by 6:50, it was the last forum and I was glad to see them finished! The rest of work was quiet and I managed to sneak out at 2:00! I came home a crafted for a bit and then went to my parents for dinner. My brother and his wife came with my little Nephew Daniel. He is so cute!! I finally got to hold him for a bit and he was nice and quiet for me. Babies like me for some reason, maybe I have a soothing voice?!?! LOL! Oh, I hope that you enjoyed the Control Freaks Blog Tour yesterday and your little peek at the 2014 Occasions Catalog! Thanks for all of your lovely comments!! 🙂

Today’s card is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge and this week it’s a fun super clean one from sweet Amy…

    Freshly Made Sketches #117

I absolutely loved the card that she made, and all of the other ones are awesome too! You know I have a thing for vellum so I used some of the fun new Designer Vellum from the 2014 Occasions Catalog! The base of my card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. My banners are cut from some Brushed Gold Card Stock, Champagne Glimmer Paper, Gold Foil Sheet and Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum*. I used some of the Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape* over a piece of Whisper White and some Stampin’ Dimensionals across the top of the flags. My greeting is from the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set and is heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Some really tiny Stampin’ Dimensional pieces adhere that to the card. Not and overly complicated card but I love the gold and vellum with the Midnight Muse! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Thank you so much for stopping by and enjoy your Saturday! 🙂

  • Control Freaks December Blog Tour

    freakwelcome2013

Hello everyone and welcome to the December Control Freaks Blog Tour featuring the 2014 Occasions Catalog preview! If you are following the tour then you have arrived here from Leann Greff’s blog. Wasn’t her stuff awesome?! I have two projects for you today. One is a masculine friendship card and the other is a box of note cards.

First up is the card. For the base I used Pacific Point Card Stock. On top of that is a piece of Whisper White stamped with the Hardwood Background Stamp* in Smoky Slate. My greeting is from the Hello, Sailor Stamp Set*, stamped in Pacific Point and cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits Dies. I backed it with a piece of Summer Starfruit cut out with the Starburst Collection Framelits Dies*. Two pieces of paper from the High Tide Designer Series Paper* and a piece of Gold Foil Sheet are all flagged underneath. Finally, another piece of Gold Foil Sheet is punched out with the star from the Merry Mini’s Punch Pack and adhered with a Stampin’ Dimensional to finish off the card. I’m loving the Hardwood Background Stamp and the nautical theme of the stamp set and the DSP.

Control Freaks December Blog Tour - Occasions Card

My second project is a cute little box that contains four notecards that could easily be slipped into someone’s bag or briefcase to brighten their day. The box is made with the Envelope Punch Board. Deb Valder had a really neat video on YouTube showing how to make a box out of the Envelope Punch Board. My box is made from a piece of Basic Gray Card Stock and my fastener is made with two Candy Dot Brad Bases and two pieces of Basic Black Card Stock punched out with the 3/4″ Circle Punch. Some Whisper White Bakers Twine ties it together. A piece of Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper* is on the front and three triangles from the Geometrical Stamp Set* are stamped in Strawberry Slush, Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry and punched out with the Triangle Punch*. My four notecards use the same stamp set. Two are stamped in Strawberry Slush, one in Crushed Curry and one in Bermuda Bay. The Strawberry Slush ones are backed with Strawberry Slush Card Stock and the triangles are punched out with the Triangle Punch*. The Crushed Curry card is backed with Crushed Curry and the circles are punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. Finally, the Bermuda Bay is backed with Bermuda Bay and the chevrons are cut out with my Paper Snips. The shapes on all of the note cards are held on with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Who wouldn’t want to find one of these little cards in their bag to put a smile on their face and let them know someone’s thinking about them?!

  • Paper Craft Crew 72 & Sneak Peek

What a lovely day it was here yesterday! I woke up to it snowing and it continued to snow for most of the first half of the day. Around 2:00pm it started to rain which was ok because it washed a way most of the snow. The only bad part was that it was about 26 degrees here last night so that turned most everything into a skating rink! Wait, it is going to be in the 60’s here over the weekend! Maybe we can will it to stay!! LOL! My day for the most part was good otherwise. My friend stopped by for a bit, I got my Christmas cards written out and I worked on a project. Now tomorrow to print the address labels and mail those cards!

Today I have my post for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. This week we have a neat little sketch for you…

    PCCCS072 12-18-2013

I wanted to show you some more goodies from the 2014 Occasions Catalog so that’s all I used! The base of my card is Gumball Green Card Stock and my background is a piece of the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper*. My flower and bee are from the Springtime Hello Stamp Set*, the bee is stamped in Basic Black and the flower is markered with Gumball Green and Daffodil Delight. I used the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies to cut out my stamped image and a lager one to put behind it. Some of the Gold Sequin Trim is adhere to the backing along the edge and the stamped piece is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Happy Watercolor Stamp Set* and is stamped in Gumball Green and punched out with the Decorative Label Punch. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card and some loose sequins finish it off. I LOVE the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper* and the we all know how I feel about sequins! Thank you for checking out my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Check out the other projects on the blog and let’s see what you come up! Have a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

  • Occasions Catalog Sneak Peek

Happy Sunday! My work Holiday party was a lot of fun last night! There were a ton of people there and some delicious food. They play a “Bad Santa” game where you bring a wrapped gift and then you pick a number to decided your turn to choose. You can pick a new gift or steal one from someone else. The person that picks number one gets to go at the end and take whatever they want! I ended up with a Google Chromcast with a little help from some friends! Like I said lots of fun! Here are a few pictures from last night. I’m also sporting my new haircut! LOL!

    Danielle & Me CL 2013

This is Danielle and I in front of the fireplace, they did a really nice job decorating their house!

Ant Nic & Me CL 2013

Here I am with Anthony and Nicole, like I said a really good time! 🙂

For today’s post I have a card that I made for Danielle’s mom’s birthday. I CASE’d the tag from the 2014 Occasions Catalog. I thought it would make a nice focal point for a card. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and some Strawberry Slush backed with a piece of Brushed Gold for my background. The tag is created with a piece of the Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum* backed with a piece of Whisper White. I punched two holes in the top and threaded some Whisper White Bakers Twine through and tied it in a bow. The greeting is from the Starburst Sayings Stamp Set* and is stamped in Strawberry Slush and cut out with the Starburst Framelits Dies*. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold all of the pieces to the card. I really like that even though it’s a simple card the greeting and the Designer Vellum give it a little wow! Thanks so much for stopping by to see my card and I hope that you enjoyed the pictures too! Have a great Sunday! 🙂

  • Paper Craft Crew 71 & More Sneak Peeks

Remember I said it was going to snow here yesterday? Well, it did, big flakes for a while. Thankfully it only settled on the grass and not the road. Work was nice again yesterday and my boss Nancy gave me a rosary that she had blessed on her trip to Israel where Christ was anointed and also in the Church of Bethlehem. That’s a pretty big deal, and I’m not very religious and know that! I have to admit that I felt a little different after she gave it to me. I can’t explain exactly how, but I did. I also had some “tangent time” with Andrew last night, always a good time, not very productive but fun! LOL!

Today I have my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

    PCCCS071 12-11-2013

A very geometric filled sketch so that’s what I went with. The base of the card is Basic Gray Card Stock and for the background I used a piece of the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper*.  My tag is created using the Angled Tag Topper Punch* and a piece of Smoky Slate with some Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon threaded through the top. The triangles and circles are form the Geometrical Stamp Set* and are stamped in Strawberry Slush, Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry. The circles are punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch and the triangles with the Triangle Punch*. My greeting is from the Just Sayin’ Stamp Set* and is stamped in Bermuda Bay and cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits*. I thought it needed a little something more to balance it so I punched out some Basic Black with the Chevron Border Punch and adhered all of the pieces with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I don’t usually use a background that is as busy as the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper but I figured I would give it a try. You’ll have to let me know what you think! Thanks for stopping by to see my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Hop on over to the blog to see what the others have done and enter your card in the gallery and you could be one of our featured artists next week! Enjoy your Wednesday peeps! 🙂

I used some new goodies from the upcoming Sale-A-Bration Catalog and some from the 2014 Occasions Catalog! The base of today’s card is Pool Party Card Stock. My strip of paper on the left is from the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper Pack**. I adhered it to a piece of Sahara Sand for extra stability and wrapped some Linen Thread around it before adhering it to the base. A piece of Gold Foil Sheet cut out with the Starburst Framelits Dies* is the first layer for my stamped images. Next up is a piece of Whisper White that I punch out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. All of the stamped images are from the Petal Parade Stamp Set** and are stamped in Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe and Summer Starfruit. I used the 1 3/4″ and 1 1/4″ Circle Punches to punch them out and some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them in place. My greeting is from the Just Sayin’ Stamp Set* and is stamped in Sahara Sand and cut out with the Word Bubble Framelits Dies*. I love the colors in the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper* and I still can’t get enough of the gold! Thank you very much for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch challenge. • Paper Players 175 & Sneak Peek

I had a nice Sunday and hope that you did too! I woke up a little late yesterday morning but I still managed to get some stuff done that I had on my list. I went and met my friend Heather and we had some lunch and ran some errands. I came home and completed some of my projects and worked on my presentation. It snowed here for a little bit, not my favorite thing to see falling from the sky! It was only a little bit but more than enough for me! It’s supposed to be rainy today so I’ll be glad to get home later. Hopefully work will be quiet… ha!

I wanted to thank Ann for choosing my card for her Cut Above for last week’s challenge. You can see my original post here and the Paper Players post here. The inspiration for today’s card comes from this week’s Paper Players Challenge. The lovely Anne Marie has given us these colors to work with…

    Paper Players #175

Even with the pink in there I saw a Christmas card! LOL! I also used some goodies from the 2014 Occasions Catalog, you can get your hands on them starting January 3rd! My card starts off with a base of Raspberry Ripple Card Stock and I used my favorite new die the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die* to cut out some Whisper White for my background. Some Silver Glimmer Paper and the Festive Flurry Framelits Dies make the snowflake. The flagged piece of Old Olive is the backing for some of the Silver Fancy Foil Designer Vellum*. My tag is made using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch* and Old Olive. I stamped some images from the Very Merry Tags Stamp Set in Raspberry Ripple and Pink Pirouette and punched them out with the Mosaic Punch. The rest of the images and greeting are form the A Banner Christmas Stamp Set. I used the Word Window Punch to punch out the Christmas and backed it with a piece of Brushed Silver Card Stock that I cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. To complete the card I used some matte silver and metallic silver sequins, I do love some sequins! The Hexagon Hive Die is definitely my favorite new product from the Occasions Catalog. I love the way that some of the hexagons are cut out and some are left so the base peeks through. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge from Anne Marie. Thanks very much for stopping by and for all of your comments! They always brighten my day! Have a great one! 🙂

T G I F!! This week could not have come to an end quickly enough. To give you an idea of what my day was like yesterday, by the time 1:00 rolled around, I had walked 6 miles… in the office. Who needs the gym?! My post is very early today because as I have already complained about (LOL), I have to be at work at 6:15 this morning. But soon, it will all be done and I will come home for a nap. Yay! Tomorrow I’m off to Connecticut with my friend Kim to see my friend Andrew sing. What are you up to this weekend?

My inspiration for today’s card comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches

    Freshly Made Sketches #115

The card today uses all pre-order stuff from the new Occasions Catalog. The base of my card is So Saffron Card Stock. The strip starts off with a piece of Tangerine Tango and I cut both sides using the Small Scallop Stampin’ Trimmer Rotary Blade, the piece of paper is from the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper Pack*.  My frames, cameras and arrow are cut out using the On Film Framelits Dies*, the frames from Baked Brown Sugar and the arrow and cameras from Coastal Cabana. I used a hole punch to punch out some Gold Foil Sheet for the lenses on the cameras. The greeting comes from the Hip Notes Stamp Set* and is stamped in Coastal Cabana on the arrow. Like I said yesterday, I’m really loving the new stuff and I think it’s neat that the framelits actually emboss the camera and cut it out at the same time. I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek for my Freshly Made Sketches challenge card for this week. Thanks so much for taking a look today and have an amazing Friday! 🙂

Thankfully, only one more day left until my Friday! Yes, it will be an early one but it will still be Friday! I got my box of pre-order goodies yesterday and I spent some quality time in the craft area last night. So much fun new stuff! I made a card which I will post tomorrow from one of my favorite new stamp sets and coordinating framelits. I still have some stamp sets to mount and a lot of organizing to do but it’s all good! Have you seen the new catalog? What are you most excited about?!

Today’s card is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge which is provided by Julee Tilman…

I decided to make a traditional card today. The base of my card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock and the background is a piece of Old Olive which is embossed with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Layered on top of that is a piece of Season of Style Designer Series Paper which is backed with another piece of Cherry Cobbler. Across the middle is a piece of Baked Brown Sugar and adhered around the back is some Cherry Cobbler 3/4″ Chevron Ribbon. Next up is the greeting which is from the Christmas Messages Stamp Set and is stamped in Old Olive, cut out with the Deco Label Collection Framelits and backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler cut out with the same Framelits. A traditional Christmas card is not an every day occurrence on my blog and I hope you enjoyed it. I really like the way the Alphabet Press Embossing Folder strangely compliments the DSP. As you know, I’m always happy to have a visit from you! Here’s to a wonderful Thursday (and a quick one so we can get to Friday)!! 🙂
