  • Freshly Made Sketches 206

It was another overcast day here until around 5:30 and then the sun came out. We are to have another rainy day today, I guess it’s making up for all of the nice weather we had over the summer! Last night I took my aunt and uncle out to Jackie Riley’s Pub for a few drinks and we met up with Brian. I’m not one to go out to a bar but we had a really nice time! I even ran into my friend Victoria, always nice to see her! A pretty good night for a Wednesday!

Before I headed out last night I made my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

    Freshly Made Sketches 206

A simple shaker card, well about as simple as a shaker card can get, and something nice and bright too! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. The panel is a piece of Solar White 80lb, I cut out the negative circle with the Circles Collection Framelits. I used the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Circle and Circle Loops dies to cut out some Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Real Red. The Happy Birthday is adhered around the negative circle with 2-Way Glue along with the rest of the die cuts. I adhered a piece of Window Sheet to the back of the panel. Another circle is cut from a piece of 1/4″ Fun Foam and that is then adhered to the back of the panel with SNAIL. Some confetti that I got from Party City is added and the panel is then adhered to the card with some more SNAIL. Like I said, as simple as a shaker card can get and nice and bright! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you so much for stopping by and have a terrific Thursday! 🙂

That was a pretty nice Tuesday! Work was just as expected and the training was even more fun that I thought it would be (insert sarcasm)! It was an overcast day but didn’t start to drizzle until around 4:00. When I got home I stopped at my house and watched some YouTube videos before heading out to dinner with the family. We went to the George Martin Burger Bar in Massapequa, Erika works there. It’s a new restaurant, it’s only been open for about three weeks. The food was really good and the place is nice. I even have a family picture for you!

    Burger Bar Dinner 9-2015

From left to right: Erika, my Dad, Mum, Aunt Janet, Me, Uncle Steve, my Brother and little Daniel who is always ready for a picture! When we got home I stayed outside talking to my Uncle until it started to rain around 9:30. A very nice evening indeed!

My card that I have for you today is for this week’s Paper Players challenge. Before we get to it I want to thank Laurie for choosing me as her Headliner for last week’s challenge!! You can see my original post here and the winner’s post here. Now on to this week and it’s a sketch…

    Paper Players #264

I used some more goodies from the My Mind’s Eye My Story Collection. The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb with the front covered in a piece of Black. On top of that is a piece of paper from the My Story 6×6 Paper Pad. I adhered a piece of My Story Washi Tape to some Solar White 110lb and then adhered it across the middle with SNAIL. The main panel is a journaling card from the My Story Collection and it’s adhered to the card with Foam Tape. One of the buttons form the My Story Chipboard Buttons has some Hemptique Baker’s Twine tied in a bow though it. It’s already got adhesive on the back so that’s what holds it in place. Finally a few Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins and some Recollections Enamel Dots finish the card. I do love the colors in the My Story collection and the journaling card makes for a different way to add a greeting! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge! I thank you for visiting with me today and I wish you all a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

  • SIP Challenge 16 – Card Maker’s Choice!

Monday… why?! LOL! It wasn’t too bad of a day actually. It was in the 80’s and in the middle of the day it rained for about 45 minutes and then the sun was blazing for the rest of the day. Work was busy and I have a training tomorrow, those are always fun! NOT! When I got home my Simon Says Stamp Card Kit had arrived so I played with that for a bit and then watched some TV while Taylor laid in the middle of the floor and watched YouTube on her MacBook. I also spoke to my cousin Jules and she got her new card today. It’s a Citroen C1 in a fun dark gray with a pink roof!

    Jules' New Citroen

Cute car isn’t it?! As you can see it was a sunny day in London today too! In other news after a lengthy hiatus Mr. Trent is back with a blog post! He entered the Pals Paper Arts challenge this week! Click HERE and go on over and give his fun card a peek!

Now on to my card for today, it’s time for another Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge and we have your favorite this week…

    SIP Any Challenge 16 800

Yes! Make anything that you like! I went with a Christmas card featuring the now sold out limited edition collaboration Simon Says Stamp with Lawn Fawn Cheesy Holidays Photopolymer Stamp Set and Dies. The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of paper from the Lawn Fawn Let’s Bokeh in the Snow 6×6 Paper Pad. Across the bottom is a piece of Chocolate Chip stamped with the Lawn Fawn Woodgrain Backdrops Photopolymer Stamp Set in Early Espresso. The greeting is from the aforementioned Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. For my snowflakes I used the Lawn Fawn Mini Snowflakes Lawn Cuts. They are cut from Solar White 80lb and adhered to the background with 2-Way Glue. The shaker is made using the Lawn Fawn Ready, Set, Snow Photopolymer Stamp Set and Shaker Additions. I stamped the snowflakes in Smoky Slate, the mice are from the Cheesy Holidays Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with Copics. I cut them out with the coordinating Lawn Cuts and adhered them to the background with more 2-Way Glue. The shaker is assembled with 1/4″ Fun Foam, Window Sheet and Score Tape. Some Seed Beads are used for the shaker material and I attached it to the card with some Magnet Tape so you can take it off again! I love that little cheese christmas tree, so cute! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Designer’s Choice Challenge! Don’t forget to stop by the blog and check out the rest of the Team’s cards. • Mojo Monday 417

Another weekend for the books. Went by too fast as it always does. I had a relaxing day. Heather came by and we went out and got some bagels for breakfast. We stopped back at my house and then stopped by my parents so she could say hello to my Aunt and Uncle. After that Heather went to get a manicure so I went to A.C. Moore to see if the had some Iridescent Medium that I wanted to try, it’s supposed to be a bit like Wink of Stella, I’ll let you know! From there we went to Target and picked up some groceries. Heather headed home and I worked on a few projects and finished up my laundry. Later on I ran to Michaels and picked up some goodies and then stopped by my parent’s again to see my Aunt and Uncle. Around 11:40 I went out to look at the Super Moon. Not a bad Sunday. Here is a picture of the moon from earlier in the evening…

Yay! A Tall & Skinny, love those! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Basic Black. The background is a piece of Hello Honey that I stamped in Hello Honey with the “Vintage” Woodgrain Background Stamp. My panel is a piece of paper from the My Mind’s Eye My Story 6×6 Paper Pad and it’s backed with Basic Black and adhered with Fun Foam and SNAIL. Across the bottom is a piece of My Story Washi Tape that I adhered to a piece of Solar White and then to the card with SNAIL. My square is a piece of Basic Black backed with some Blushing Bride and adhered to the card with Foam Tape. The butterfly is cut out from a piece of Gold Foil Sheet with the Simon Says Stamp Leanna Craft Die and adhered to the square with a Glue Dot. I heat embossed the greeting from the Simon Says Stamp Paper Hug Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder on Basic Black and adhered it to the center of the butterfly with Foam Tape. Finally some Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins finish the card. I do love that My Mind’s Eye My Store collection, great colors and fun embellishments! • Pink Feathers Happy Day

The lack of motivation is real! It took me all day yesterday to make my cards for card class and one more. I guess that I’m suffering from PVD, Post Vacation Depression! I need to get out today and do some stuff, anything! LOL! I’ll go by Scrap-A-Latte and drop off the cards and then maybe take a drive somewhere, that helps to clear the mind sometimes.

The other card that I made last night is a just for fun one. I always find it funny that people think that a birthday card actually has to say happy birthday on the outside when there are so many other greetings that work! The base for today’s card is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I ran a strip of My Minds Eye My Story Washi Tape down the left side of the card. Next up is a piece of My Minds Eye My Story 6×6 Paper with the bottom flagged. A circle of the same paper is cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circle Dies to back my greeting which is from the Simon Says Stamp Oh Happy Day Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Simon Says Stamp Smoke Ink. My feathers and twigs are from the same set and are stamped in Teeny Bikini, Rosie Cheeks and Goldenlocks. They, along with the greeting, are cut out with the matching Happy Day Craft Dies. I adhered some Fun Foam that I cut out with the Sizzix Circles Framelits to the back of the stitched circle and greeting and the adhered everything to the card with SNAIL. A few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear and Ballerina Pink Iridescent Sequins finish off the card. I think that Oh Happy Day works pretty well for a birthday, don’t you?! I hope that you enjoyed today’s card and I thank you, as always, for taking some time to stop by and see me! Here’s to a more productive Sunday! LOL! Have a great day! 🙂

  • Fab Friday 73

And it’s Friday, next week I will be much happier about that! LOL! Yesterday I caught up on some things around the house, took a ride over to see Renee and picked up the stamps for next week’s card class and got to see little Daniel! Not a bad day at all. Today I have some cleaning to do and lots of cards to make. I also need to venture out and get some food!

Every other Friday it’s time for another Fab Friday challenge and today’s it’s colors…

    Fab Fri 73 9-18-2015

I played with some new goodies that I ordered while I was away so they would be waiting for me when I got back! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Very Vanilla. I used the Simon Says Stamp Notebook Edges Die on the left side of a piece of paper from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack and adhered it to the card slightly askew with some SNAIL. The panel in the middle is a piece of Rich Razzleberry with the center cut out with a die from the Simon Says Stamp Happy Day Dies. All of the images are from the Simon Says Stamp Oh Happy Day Photopolymer Stamp Set. The hi is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and adhered behind the negative in the panel. Old Olive and Soft Suede are used to stamp the sprigs and feathers, they are cut out with the matching dies. Some Soft Suede is cut out with the Circle Loops Dies and all of them are adhered to the card with 2-Way Glue. The main panel is adhered with Foam Tape and a few Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins are added for a little sparkle. I always love a greeting heat embossed on some vellum! I hope that you enjoyed my card for the Fab Friday color challenge! Take a minute to stop by the blog and check out the other Designer’s cards and enter your card into the gallery! • Butterfly Postage Wishes & BA

Good day everyone! I’m back in NY, missing my cousins already. We went our for a breakfast yesterday before heading to Heathrow. It started to pour once we got to the airport. Tracey and Jules waited with us for  a long while, we even sat and had a Costa Coffee before we said our goodbyes. The flight home on British Airways was really nice! We sat in Club World with the nice big seats that turn into a flat bed! Lunch was delicious and so was the snack before landing. My friend Betty met us at the plane and walked with us through to baggage claim and we were out in 15 minutes! Heather and Stephanie picked us up and Heather and I had our movie moment! LOL! I unpacked last night and went to be early so that I can try and reset my clock. Today I have some cleaning to do and then finally sit down and make a card, the first time in over two weeks! That has been the longest for me in over 4 years! Wish me luck! Here are some pictures from the plane yesterday…

    BA Club World Seats

Our nice big comfy seats, and yes, you sit facing the back of the plane!

    BA Club World TV

A view from the seat just as we were flying out into the Atlantic.

Now on to today’s card which I actually made before I left. The card base is the usual Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I stamped the “Vintage” Dictionary Background Stamp in Smoky Slate on a piece of Solar White 80lb. Down the left side is one of the stamps from the Butterfly Basics Photopolymer Stamp Set stamped in Real Red and up in the right corner is a stamp from the “Vintage” Office Ephemera Stamp Set stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. Two of the stamps from the same set are stamped in Pacific Point and cut out with my Paper Snips. The butterfly is also from the Butterfly Basics Set and is stamped in Pacific Point, Real Red and Memento Tuxedo Black and then cut out with the Bold Butterfly Framelits. I adhered the background to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL, the stamps are adhered with SNAIL and the butterfly and greeting are adhered with Foam Tape. For the greeting I cut out a piece of Solar White 80lb with the Papertrey Ink Just the Ticket Border Die and stamped it from the Butterfly Basics Set in Memento Tuxedo Black. I resisted the urge to add some sequins, LOL! I hope that you enjoyed today’s card! Thanks for sticking with me through these last two weeks and I wish you all a terrific Thursday! 🙂

  • SIP Challenge 14 – A Sketch

A very good Tuesday to you! It’s my last day in England and it’s a little rainy today. I have a few last minute bits and pieces to pick up but I think that I can do that locally. Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting my FaceBook friend Lesley! We went to the Crypt for a Latte and some cake and had a lovely time chatting. So much so we got a pot of tea and finished that too! I love when I get to meet people in person and Lesley is just lovely! After that Brian and I went to Leister Square and picked up some souvenirs and then stopped by my Uncle’s before having some wood fire pizza for dinner. On to the station after that to make our way back home. A very nice day indeed! Here are some photos from yesterday!

I had fun playing with a new stamp set and did some watercoloring too! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and the front is covered with a piece of paper from the My Minds Eye Necessities Wood Paper Pad. The panel on the left is a piece of Smoky Slate that I embossed with the We R Memory Keepers Woven 3D Embossing Folder and backed with a piece of Night of Navy and adhered to the card with SNAIL. The main panel is a piece of Night of Navy backed with some Solar White 80lb. My greeting and flowers are from the Clearly Besotted Fairytale Ending Photopolymer Stamp Set. The greeting is heat embossed with Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. I did the same with the flowers but on Canson Watercolor Paper and then cut them out with the matching dies. The flowers are colored in Zig Clean Color Brush Pens and a Water Brush. I adhered the flowers to the panel with some SNAIL and then the panel to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. A few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins complete the card. I love those flowers, especially watercolored. I hope that enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Sketch challenge. Happy Monday! I can’t believe that we leave in two days to go home. It’ has been such a great vacation I don’t want it to end! Yesterday we went to my Uncle Steve’s in Harrow for a BBQ and that was really nice! After the BBQ Brian and I headed out to meet Tracey and Jules to go to another BBQ at Tracey’s friend Tracey’s house. That was a good time too! Tracey had to stay in London at her mum’s last night so we hung out with Jules and watched some TV before calling it a night. I’m going into London today to have coffee with my friend Leslie, can’t wait to meet her!

  • SIP Challenge 13 – Theme!

Hi there! I hope that your week is off to a good start! We spent some more time wandering around London yesterday. Brian had the idea that we should go to the Science Museum and that was a lot of fun. I haven’t been to a museum in forever. We had a late lunch at a pizza shop that had wood fired sourdough crust pizza and it was delicious! More like Italian pizza than American. On the way home we stopped by my Uncle Bruce’s and I set up his new laptop for him. The other day we went to Hyde Park and Paddington Station. Here are a few pictures from that!

    Hyde Park Serpentine

The entrance that I always use to get into Hyde Park is Lancaster Gate and when you walk in this is what you see.

    Peter Pan HP

As you walk in a little further you get to the Peter Pan Statue.

    Paddington Station Entrance

The entrance from Prade Street to Paddington Station.

    Paddington Station Inside

    The platform at Paddington.

    Paddington at the Station

There is a store inside the station when you can go and get Paddington Bear merchandise and this is the little guy that greets you!

So, it’s Tuesday, time for another Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge and since it’s my birthday this weekend we have a birthday theme for you…

    SIP Birthday Theme 13

I used some of my favorite colors to make one of my favorite kinds of cards! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used the Simon Says Stamp Balloons Craft Dies to cut out the negative from a piece of Solar White 80lb Card Stock and also a piece of Fun Foam. To make sure that I got the stamped balloons inside the window I traced the balloon onto the card base. All of the images are from the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Balloons Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the balloons in Simon Says Stamp Teal and Mint Ink, the stars are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. Some Window Sheet is adhered to the back of the negative die cut and then the Fun Foam is adhered to the back of that. Before adhering the window to the card I cut out the Simon Says Stamp Happy Birthday Craft Die from a piece of Black Card Stock with some Stick-It on the back. The Stick-It makes the intricate die cut much easier to adhere to the Window Sheet. A generous dose of Martha Stewart Iridescent Hearts and Stars Glitter is added before adhering the window piece. A fun shaker birthday card if I do say so myself! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Birthday Theme Challenge! Head on over to the Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge Blog and check out the rest of the Design Team’s cards and enter your one in the gallery! Thanks for stopping by today, I hope that you are still enjoying the London pics and I wish you all a lovely Tuesday! 🙂
