Paper Craft Crew 129

A very happy Wednesday to you! I’m having a wonderful time down here in Florida! Maggie and I took a little road trip to Lakeland to visit a scrapbook store called Violet’s! Over 4,100 square feet of crafty goodness! There are big rooms and little rooms filled with paper and embellishments! A whole room with rubber stamps and tons of dies and other essentials! I think that you could go in there quite a few times and still find new things! Here is a picture of the storefront and if you ever find yourself in Lakeland you must go and pay them a visit!

After the store went and had lunch at Steak ‘n Shake, Maggie had never been to one before! She said that it was quite good and loved the burger and milkshake! We came back to the hotel and met her sister-in-law Jackie and headed over to Epcot. Jackie is a Cast Member at Disney and one of the sweetest people! We wandered around through the countries and had some food and drink. A very fun way to spend an evening! Here are the three of us in front of the sphere…

Now on to today’s post! I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog with our sketch challenge for this week…

I looked at the sketch and thought that the circle would make a good place for a heart! The card begins with a base of Real Red Card Stock. My background is a piece of Basic Black, I heat embossed the stamp from Gorgeous Grunge in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and adhered it to the base. A strip of Real Red goes across the middle. I used one of the dies from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits to cut out the circles and then heat embossed my greeting from the Countless Sayings 2 Photopolymer Stamp Set, also in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Before I adhered the strip to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals I added two pieces of Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper punched out with the Banner Punch to the lower left. The heart is cut out from Gold Glimmer Paper using the Simon Says Stamp Sketch Heart Die and a few gold sequins sprinkled around complete the card. I really do love that Sketch Heart Die, especially cut from our Gold Glimmer Paper! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge! Paper Players 229

Just because I like to keep things as exciting as possible I started this post on the plane. Wouldn’t you know that they had free in flight wi-fi on my jetBlue flight! Pretty neat, we all know how I like to be connected at all times! LOL! Speaking of the plane, here it is!

Apparently I got out of NY just in time, they are supposed to have a major snow storm Monday night into Tuesday morning. They say up to 18 inches. They can have all the snow that they want while I’m away, in fact get it all out of the way before I get back!!

I ‘m lucky enough to have been invited to stay with my friend Germaine and her husband Mike In Rotunda West. They have a lovely house in a beautiful area. Dinner was delicious and we had home made bread pudding for dessert! Here is her cute fluffy cat Ginger…

She looks a little bored with the fact that I was taking her picture!

It’s Monday and following along with our regularly scheduled programming I have my Paper Players card for this week’s sketch challenge…

I really love that Irresistibly Yours Designer Series Paper, especially since I’m such a fan of inked backgrounds, it’s perfect for them. I would however like a whole stack of the stars pattern please! The base for my card today is Blackberry Bliss Card Stock. My background is created with a piece of the Irresistibly Yours Designer Series Paper and Blackberry Bliss and Night of Navy Ink applied with the Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool. You could easily do this technique with Sponge Daubers, I just like the handle on the tool. Across the bottom of the background is a piece of Vellum Card Stock to go along with the sketch. My circle is a piece of Night of Navy and all of the little circles are cut out using the Simon Says Stamp Confetti Circles Die. I then cut that out with the Circles Collection Framelits and backed it with a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper. The enjoy is from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits and is cut out from Whisper White and adhered with little pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really do love that Irresistibly Yours DSP inked with the Blackberry Bliss and Night of Navy for a cool night sky! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge. Jason’s Birthday Card

Today’s the day! I’m off to the airport in a little while to head down to Orlando for a week! Andrew will be taking me. It will be nice to be somewhere a little warmer! My trip into Manhattan was nice yesterday morning. I met the girls for breakfast at the diner and then we just went back to Kim’s apartment and sat around and laughed! I got back home around 3:00 and started to work on the rest of my projects that I needed to get finished. Last night I realized that I didn’t have a suitcase with wheels on it that worked so I went to BJ’s and picked one up. I stopped in at Michaels to see Taylor and then came home and packed. Now all of you keep your fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly at the airport. We remember what happened the last time that I flew jetBlue right?!?! I’m sure that it will be a nice smooth day!

As promised today I’m sharing that card that I made for my brother for his birthday. It’s a nice simple masculine card and I even managed to sneak on some ribbon! The card base is Lost Lagoon Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the Banners Framelits to cut out another piece of Lost Lagoon to serve as the backing for my main panel. I used the Guy Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set to stamp the car and the greeting in Memento Tuxedo Black on a piece of Soft Suede. Before I adhered the panel to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals I flagged a piece of the 7/8″ Natural Cotton Ribbon and adhered it to the banner with Fast Fuse. A nice simple masculine birthday card wouldn’t you agree?! I hope that you like the card as much as my brother did. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll speak to you tomorrow from Florida! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 170

Woo hoo!! It’s Friday my friends! The best part about this Friday is that I’m off from work for a whole week and will be heading to Florida on Sunday! Wee! I can’t wait to be in the warmer weather and see all of my friends! Yesterday wasn’t too bad here, it was sunny for most of the day and not too cold. Dinner last night for my Brother was made even more fun by little Daniel! He tried his first lemon! I had to share the video because his face is just great…

The best part is that even though he makes the lemon face he just keeps on eating it! He is just the cutest! Tonight I have a class at Scrap-A-Latte, that should be great fun! Looking forward to making some neat cards! I’m going to try and go see my friend Shane after the class since I will be out that way. Looks to be a very good Friday indeed! 🙂

My little time spent in the Stampin’ Galley last night yielded today’s card which is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

I have these dies from Simon Says Stamp that I have been dying to use and I thought this layout would work perfectly! The card base for today is Very Vanilla Card Stock and my background is a piece of paper from the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack. Across the lower middle of the card is a piece of Gold Metallic Card Stock adhered with some 2-Way Glue. I used some Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler to cut out the Sketch Heart from Simon and inlaid the two together and adhered them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Sending is also a Simon die and is cut from Whisper White and heat embossed with Ranger Gold Tinsel Embossing Powder. Some more 2-Way Glue adheres it to the heart and completes the card. I love the heart and that embossing powder is just so nice and sparkly! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Thank you very much for coming by today! Mojo 381

I woke up this morning to some snow flurries, well, really it looks more like someone is sprinkling glitter very minute or so! It’s barely snowing, I’ll take that! Yesterday was a nice day, it was somewhat sunny and warmed up a bit. I came home from work and continued to work on my projects. Andrew stopped by and we brainstormed about the Suicide website. It’s kind of hard to come up with something that doesn’t sound odd for something that is so serious and such a sensitive subject. I’ll let you know what the final decision is after it gets approved at work. Today is my brother Jason’s birthday! Happy birthday!! We are out to dinner tonight and I’ll post his card next week. One more day to go, we can do this! 🙂

My card that I have for you today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

I decided I would give a masculine, just-because card a try today. I started today’s card off with a piece of Basic Black Card Stock. My background is a piece of Smoky Slate stamped in Smoky Slate with my favorite, the Hardwood Background Stamp. The panel in the middle is a piece of paper from the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack backed with a piece of Basic Black. A piece of “Vintage” Basic Gray 5/8″ Satin Ribbon is adhered around the back of the background that is then adhered to the card base. My greeting is from the Hello There Host Stamp Set and is heat embossed on Vellum in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used the Circles Collections Framelits to cut it and the Basic Gray frame out, which is then adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A neat, somewhat monochromatic card, I really like the way the rocks on the DSP play off of the woodgrain background for a very earthy look. Paper Craft Crew 128

It’s Wednesday already! Wow! The week is just chugging along. Andrew was up at the office again today for another meeting about the Suicide Prevention website. I thought that it would be good for him to come up with the domain name and tag line. He is going to stop by tonight so we can brainstorm for a bit. The rest of the day was the usual and when I got home I went straight into the Stampin’ Galley to work on my projects for when I’m away next week. I’m looking forward to being in the warmer weather for a bit! How many of you are going to Leadership in Orlando? I’m going down a few days early to see my friend Germaine and then my friend Maggie and I are going to go to Disney on Tuesday! Really looking forward to it!

Today, since it’s Wednesday, I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

I love the newsprint on the lower half of the card so that’s just what I did too! My card base for today is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I stamped my greeting from the Kinda Eclectic Stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black in the upper right corner. The lower part of the card is covered in a piece of Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper. Across the card is a piece of Basic Gray and a piece of Smoky Slate. I used some Vellum Card Stock and the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch with the Project Life Corner Rounder to create my tag. The images are also from the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set. The sunburst is heat embossed in Crushed Curry Stampin’ Emboss Powder and the butterfly in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder and is punched out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch. Some strategically placed SNAIL holds the tag to the card. A Neutrals Designer Button with some Hemptique Black Hemp Cord Twine is threaded through and tied in a bow with some extra long tails. Three matte black sequins are under the tag and complete the card. I forgot how much I love that Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set and the Heptique Twine is so neat because it holds its shape really well! Control Freaks January Blog Tour

Hello! I hope that your week is off to a good start! I had a nice day at work and another crafty evening when I got home apart from my little Target run. Guess what?! It’s time for another Control Freaks Blog Tour! This month our theme is Love and just in time for Valentine’s day! There are lots of fun new products in the 2015 Occasions Catalog with a love theme and I hope that you get some inspiration from my projects today. If you are following along with the tour you have arrived here from my talented friend Debbie Henderson’s blog. I have two cards and a little treat holder for you this time around so let’s get to them!

The first card that I have is a fun Valentine that would work for anyone. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock. I took a piece of Soft Sky and used the Word Bubbles Framelits to cut out the negative in the upper right corner. I also used the dies for the clouds that are cut from more Whisper White. The greeting is from the You Plus Me Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red, using the negative cut out for placement and my Stamp-a-ma-jig. The ballon and the bow are cut out from Real Red and Red Glimmer paper using the Balloons Framelits. I cut out the heart in the middle of the ballon and another one from Red Glimmer Paper using the Hearts Collection Framelits. The basket is stamped in Soft Suede from the Celebrate Today Photopolymer Stamp Set. A piece of Stacked With Love Designer Series Paper is adhered behind the negative heart in the ballon and the balloon and red glimmer heart are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally I adhered my clouds to the background and the background to the base using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I think that this card would work for just about any age, don’t you?

My second card is a nice simple one that would work for many different occasions. It begins with a base of Sahara Sand Card Stock. I used the You Plus Me Stamp Set and repeatedly stamped the ampersand in Pool party on Pool Party for the background. A piece of Vellum Card Stock cut to the same size as the Pool Party and has one of the greetings from the same set heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used the Spiral Border Punch along the left side and a Mini Metallic Clothespin holds the two sheets together. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals along the back of the Pool Party piece adhere the background to the card. A simple card that would make a great birthday, thank you or Valentine!

My last project for today is a little treat holder. I used some Vellum Card Stock and the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits for the holder. I cut another piece of Vellum out with the Hearts Collection Framelits for my topper. All of the stamps are from the January Paper Pumpkin Kit and are heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Some Gold Glimmer paper is punched out with the heart from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and adhered to the Vellum heart with Glue Dots. A Mini Metallic Clothespin is adhered to the back of the heart with Sticky Strip and holds it to the handle on the that box. I would have filled this up with some M&M’s but unfortunately I finished the bag the other day! Time to get some more!

Painted Stacked Love

I do love a productive Saturday! In the morning I relaxed a bit and then watched some videos on YouTube, craft videos of course! Around 10:45 I headed over to Scrap-A-Latte with Taylor to go and see Renee. She had a crop going so there were lots of people to chat with. I also got to see all of the new Catalogs that she brought back from CHA. The one thing that stands out in my mind is this really cooky crazy bird set from Tim Holtz called Bird Crazy, I will definitely be needing that one! We stopped by Michaels and Home Goods and the grabbed some Pizza and paid a little visit to AC Moore. I got a bigger watercolor paint set, I have really been into watercoloring lately, and picked up a few new props. I spent a few hours crafting and then Danielle came by so we go to the work holiday party at our CEO’s house. It’s nice to see people outside of the office, you get to experience a whole other side of them. Sometimes that can be a great thing and sometimes not, but it was a good time none the less! Today it’s supposed to rain all day so I will be spending some more quality time crafting! What better way to spend a rainy Sunday?! How about you, what are you up to today?

Here is another video from the Sam Smith concert. This song is called Latch and he usually does the acoustic version, which he starts off with, but then, well, you’ll see!

My card that I made for today’s post has a Valentine feel to it but could definitely be used for so much more. It was inspired by a card that I saw on Pinterest. I started off with a Whisper White Card Base and added a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe for the background. Some Whisper White is punched with the Ornate Tag Topper Punch for my larger tag. I stamped the lines and greeting from the Painted Petals Stamp Set in Crisp Cantaloupe and Memento Tuxedo Black. The second smaller tag is a piece of paper from the Stacked with Love DSP Stack that I punched out with the Note Tag Punch. My Silver Glimmer Paper Heart is the Sweetheart Punch and the heart from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits combined. I punched the inside and then used the Thinlit to cut around it. Another heart is punched out with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. I heat embossed yet another heart from the You Brighten My Day Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and punched that one out too. The large heart is adhered with some Multi-Purpose Glue and the smaller ones with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I tied the two tags together with some black hemp cord twine and used a silver Mini Metallic Clothespin to hold them to another piece of the Stacked with Love DSP. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back then hold that to the card. I love the two tags together and that silver sliver glimmer heart (say that fast three times!)! The card would make a fun Valentine but I think that you could definitely use it for a birthday or even a thank you! I hope that you enjoyed today’s card! Pals Paper Arts 236

A late happy Saturday to you! I don’t know why but I just can’t seem to get up on the weekends anymore! I guess the bed was little too comfy with all of the blankets! So yesterday was a nice sunny but chilly day again. I got a lot done at work and then came home and Andrew stopped by for a bit. He’s out in the Hamptons this weekend for the Satellite Lane retreat. They rehearse and get ready for Harmony Sweeps all weekend. A little chilly for the Hamptons but maybe that help them concentrate! I went out to dinner to Friday’s with Anthony and Bill, that’s always a good time! Tonight I have a work Holiday party to go to so Danielle is going to come by here so we can go together. I’m off to Scrap-A-Latte in a bit to help Renee get ready for some classes, that will be fun! What are you up to this weekend?

My card for today is for this weeks Pals Paper Arts sketch…

I got my Paper Pumpkin Kit in the mail yesterday and love the stamps that came in it so I used one of them on today’s Valentine’s card. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper stack that I adhered a piece of 1/4″ Whisper White Cotton Ribbon around the back before adhering it to the base. For my greeting I used the You Plus Me Stamp Set and heat embossed it in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Real Red. I used an element from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits to cut it out. The heart on the top right is the one from the Paper Pumpkin Kit and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the banner and heart to the card. I drew a few lines down from the tag and used another one of the elements from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits to cut out three hearts from Red Glimmer Paper, they are also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally I sprinkled some sequins in the upper right and adhered them with Crystal Effects. I love the way the heart looks “clipped” to the side of the banner! A fun simple Valentine for your love! Paper Players 227

And that’s a wrap on another weekend! I did have a good one, always too fast but that’s the way they go. I got a lot of things accomplished today, more than I thought that I would! Love when that happens! I got some more backgrounds for cards made and some more cards finished. Went and had dinner at Brian and Kim’s, it was taco night! Yum! I also ran out to Scrap-A-Latte to drop off some projects for the store, Brian took a ride with me and all of the ladies there loved him! LOL! I came home and finished my card for today and then headed off to bed. How was your weekend?

It’s time for another Paper Players challenge. Before I get to this week’s I want to thank Joanne for choosing my card as her pick for last week’s challenge. You can see my original post here and the Paper Players post here. Now on to this week, we have a color challenge from Ann…

A fun and different color combo! I started today’s card off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock and covered the front in a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe. A piece of Lost Lagoon is cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die and adhered to the card with some 2-Way Glue Pen. My tag is a piece of Sahara Sand and I used the Ornate Tag Topper Punch to create it. All of the stamps are from the Butterfly Basics Photopolymer Stamp Set. The leaves are stamped onto the tag with Lost Lagoon and the greeting is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. For the butterfly I stamped him on a piece of Very Vanilla using Crisp Cantaloupe and cut him out with the Butterflies Thinlits. In the middle of the butterfly is a Naturals Designer Button with some gold thread tied in a bow. I used some Glue Dots to hold the button and the butterfly in place. A piece of 1/8″ Gold Ribbon is tied through the top and the tag is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really do love the colors together and that stamp set is fast becoming one of my favorites! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge.
