  • Mojo 357 & More Pics!

I’m sad to report that yesterday was a typical Monday, busy, busy, busy! Work was treat! LOL! NOT! I came home and made some dinner for Taylor and I, rice and black beans with tomatoes, black olives, avocado and banana peppers. I put some Sriracha on mine too, yummy and simple! I needed to get into the Stampin’ Galley, I didn’t spend enough time in there over the weekend and I notice that I am little cranky when I don’t get enough creative time. I made four cards and felt much better after that! How was your Monday?!

Here are some more of the Manhattan pictures from Sunday. We went to a park by my friend Kim’s house called Carl Schurz Park. It’s where Gracie Mansion is. The park is long and narrow but it’s right on the East River and I got some good pictures of that!

This one is looking North and the one below is looking Southeast.

Here is my friend Kim and her friend Maggie’s dog Kirby. She is eight months old but such a good dog!

It’s also Tuesday and that means that it’s time for the weekly deals from Stampin’ Up! Don’t forget about the Big Shot Bundle promotion! You can scroll to the bottom to see a PDF flyer of all of the bundles available!

Now on to today’s post. One of the cards that I made last night is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

    Mojo357

Do you think of playing cards when you see the sketch?! I did! We don’t have any playing card related stamps though so I went in a completely different direction. My card begins with a base of Sahara Sand Card Stock, my new favorite neutral! The background is a piece of Blackberry Bliss with a piece of Hello Honey that I embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The card on the left is a piece of paper from the Moonlight DSP Stack. On the right is a piece of Whisper White that I stamped my greeting from the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set, stamped in Blackberry Bliss. I rounded the corners on both the DSP and greeting with the Project Life Corner Rounder and adhered them to the background. A strip of So Saffron that I stamped with the Draw the Line Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hello Honey goes across the middle. My flag is a piece of Perfect Plum. I made another one of the epoxy embellishments using the face from the Ray of Sunshine Stamp Set stamped in Blackberry Bliss on Hello Honey. I really love those epoxy embellishments, so easy and fun! And that’s my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I hope that you enjoyed it and I thank you for checking in! Have a great Tuesday my friends! 🙂

  • Paper Players 207 & Manhattan!

Hi there! How was the weekend?! Mine was great! Saturday I was in Manhattan visiting with my friend Kim and her sister Angie and brother Michael. We wandered around China Town and Little Italy. It was quite busy down there, I think because they said it would rain on and off all day but as it turned out it didn’t . It was a very pleasant day, not overly sunny and comfortable. I have some pictures from my outing for you. The first one is of the sign on Mulberry Street for Little Italy…

    Little Italy Sign

As you can see from the sign China Town has taken over a lot! We stopped in a bar for a drink and also did some Limoncello shots, what else would you do in Little Italy?!

    Shots

That’s me, Kim, Michael and Angie! As we were walking around I saw this man with a cat perched on his head! Only in NY my friends!

    Cat Man

If you gave him a dollar you could take his picture, nothing in the city is free! I wonder how much money he makes a day?!

I’ll have some more pictures for you tomorrow so be sure to come back and check them out! I don’t know if I can top the cat one though! LOL!

It’s Monday once again and that means that it’s time for the Paper Players challenge! This week Sandy asks us to use buttons on our project…

    Paper Players #207

I decided that I would use my buttons in place of sequins on the card. My card begins with a base of Blushing Bride Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of Lost Lagoon and adhered a strip of the Flower Pot Designer Series Paper down the left side. A strip of Gold Sequin Trim is adhered around the back before I mounted the background to the base. To create my tag I used my ruler to mark of the back and then my Paper Snips and 1/4″ Circle Punch. All of the stamped images and greeting are from the Flower Patch Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the leaves in Garden Green and Mossy Meadow right on to the tag. The flowers are stamped in Tangerine Tango and Crushed Curry and cut out with the Flower Fair Framelits. The greeting is stamped in Night of Navy. I adhered the flower pieces and then the tag to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My buttons are from the Brights and Regals Designer Buttons and are adhered to the card with Multi-Purpose Glue. I love the Lost Lagoon with the strip of Flower Pot DSP and Gold Sequin Trim! I think that it grounds the large tag nicely! Thank you for coming by to see my pictures and my card for this week’s Paper Players Theme challenge. I hope that you enjoyed the post today! Enjoy your Monday! 🙂

  • Creation Station Tour – Amazing Birthday

    creation station header

Hello everyone! I had a very nice day in Manhattan yesterday! I will have some fun pictures for you tomorrow, but today it’s time for the Creation Station Blog Tour! I’m hoping that you have been along for our previous ones! I missed the last one, I was at Convention. I f this is your first time here welcome and I hope that you find inspiration in the projects. This time around we are featuring the Amazing Birthday Stamp Set and the Tag-A-Bag products. If you are following the tour you have arrived here from Deborah Smart’s blog, she always has such cool stuff! I have three projects for you today. I took some pictures of the first project because it contains a new item and a fun new technique!

First up I have a simple gift card holder made with the new Gift Card Envelope and Trims Thinlits Die that will be available for purchase on August 28th from the 2014 Holiday Catalog. I used the die to cut out a piece of Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper.

Creation Station Tour 7 GC 1-WM

The die is great because it cuts and scores the paper for you, all you have to do is fold, adhere and embellish!

    Creation Station Tour 7 GC 2 8-03-2014Creation Station Tour 7 GC 3-WM

I added the circles and 1/8″ Mini Brads so I would be able to tie on my tag. Speaking of the tag it’s actually a “Vintage” one from the Stamp a Tag Kit. I used the greeting from the Amazing Birthday Stamp Set and marketed it in Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise and Rich Razzleberry.

Creation Station Tour 7 GC 4-WM

A piece of White Baker’s Twine is wrapped around the brads and holds the tag to the gift card holder. A quick and fun way to give someone a little something for their birthday!

Creation Station Tour 7 GC Tag 1-WM

Creation Station Tour 7 GC Tag 2-WM

Next up I have a note card. I saw this fun technique to make epoxy embellishments the other day so I thought I would give it a try! The card begins with one of the cards from the Note Cards & Envelopes. I embossed a piece of Tempting Turquoise with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for my background. For the banner I cut out a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper with the Banners Framelits. A piece of Real Red is cut out with the Starburst Framelits and adhere to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Next up is my epoxy embellishment. I punched out a piece of Window Sheet with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch and spread some Crystal Effect over the top.

Creation Station Tour 7 GC 5-WMCreation Station Tour 7 GC 6-WM

The neat thing is that as long as you don’t put too much Crystal Effects on it stops at the edge of the Window Sheet. You need to set them aside for at least 24 hours to make sure that they are completely dry. I stamped the cake from the Amazing Birthday Stamp Set in Daffodil Delight and ran it through my Zyron Sticker Maker face down and adhered it to the back of the Window Sheet. Some Fast Fuse makes sure that it will stay in place. Another piece of Real Red is cut out with the Little Letters Thinlits and adhered to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals pieces. My greeting is from the Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Set and is cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits. I loved making the epoxy embellishments, they are so much fun and it’s great to be able to customize them to whatever you need!

    Creation Station Tour 7 Card-WM

My last project is a simple tag. I stamped the greeting from the Amazing Birthday Stamp Set in Tempting Turquoise and punched the tag with the Angled Tag Topper Punch. Another one of the epoxy embellishments is adhered to the bottom and a Mini Clothes Pin holds it to one if the Chevron Tag a Bag Gift Bags. I always need something quick to make to put on a gift and this definitely fits the bill! I made some extra epoxy embellishments and now can just stamp and adhere what I need to the back of them!

Creation Station Tour 7 Tag Bag-WM

So there are my projects for the Creation Station Blog Tour featuring the Amazing Birthday Stamp Set and Tag a Bag products! I hope that you are inspired and that you will give making the epoxy embellishments a try. Your next stop on the tour is Ilina Crouse! She always has some amazing stuff! Thank you for coming by to see my projects and enjoy the rest of the tour and have a wonderful Sunday! 🙂

Now on to the card that I have for you today and it’s for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. This week our sketch is provided by Jen T….

    Freshly Made Sketches #147

Love it! As soon as I saw the stripes I knew exactly what I wanted to do. My card base is a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock. I covered the entire front with a piece of Brushed Gold Metallic Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of Basic Black and some Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape strips go down the right side. Around the lower part I wrapped some Linen Thread and tied one of the new Gold Basic Metal Buttons* to the card. Quite a few Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the background to the base. My fun mustache is form the Well Worded Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Basic Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder on another piece of Brushed Gold. I used the Mustache Framelit to cut it out and Stampin’ Dimensionals hold it in place. I love the simplicity of the Black and Gold together and the Linen Thread gives it a little bit of a rustic feel. I hope that you like my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. As always, I appreciate you stopping by and I hope that you all enjoy your Saturday! 🙂

  • Fab Friday 47

Oh yes! It’s Friday! You know how I feel about that! LOL! It was another nice day, sunny and cool, only in the low 80’s. As far as work goes I spoke too soon, it was a little nutty yesterday. I got to do things that aren’t really my responsibility again. I help out whenever I can and that gets me where?! What can you do?! Last night Andrew came by and we did some more apartment stuff and then took a run to IKEA. I have to say that I’m little disappointed in the lighting choices of late. I’m all for the environment but the LED lights are not quite as bright as the old bulbs and they are quite pricey. I ended up not getting anything but Andrew did have some hot dogs for dinner. Two hot dogs, a soda and chips for $2.50! You can’t beat that! The rest of the evening was just spent sitting outside and talking. Sometimes the simple things make life wonderful!

And this Friday is made even better because it’s a Fab Friday! This week we have a really neat, simple sketch…

    Fab Fri 47 8-01-2014

I have to admit I had a lot of fun making this card. The card begins with a base of Smoky Slate Card Stock. For the background I took a piece of Night of Navy Card Stock and used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out a circle in the lower right portion of the card. I then used the Hearts and Stars Decorative Mask and some Embossing Paste to create the stars on the background. After it dried, I adhered it to the base. The clouds are made using the Word Bubbles Framelits and some Whisper White and are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My large star is a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper cut out with the Stars Framelits. For the greeting I used the Alphabet Rotary Stamp to create my own greeting in Memento Tuxedo Black. I flagged the ends and adhered it and the star with some more Stampin’ Dimensionals. I think it’s neat the way that the cut out circle appears as if it’s in front of the background. And to me, it looks like the moon! That’s my Fab Friday Design Team card for this week’s sketch challenge! Take a minute to go over and visit the blog to see what my fellow designers have made and don’t forget to enter your card in the gallery so we can see what you do with the sketch! I hope you enjoyed the card and thanks so much for stopping by today! 🙂

  • Mojo 356

Hello my peeps! It’s Thursday and that means just one more day to go! I have had a pretty good week so far let’s hope that it continues! I will be heading into Manhattan on Saturday, my friend Kim’s brother and sister will be in town! I’m looking forward to that! It’s been too long since I’ve been in the city. Yesterday was another beautiful day. It was in the upper 70’s with a slight breeze and plenty of sun! This is shaping up to be a great summer! I hope that the weather by you has been equally as nice! I came home last night and did some more organizing in the Stampin’ Galley and then had some quality crafty time! Always my favorite way to end the day!

The card I have for you today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch and guess what?! It’s another tall and skinny!

    Mojo356

I do love the tall and skinny cards! I need to start making some even when there is no sketch! LOL! My card today starts off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper. I love the feel and look of the paper, it really is just like old book paper. I flagged a strip of Gold Foil Sheet and a piece of Lost Lagoon to go down the left side. My circle is a piece of Vellum Card Stock and a frame of Basic Black that I cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. I do love a little vellum don’t I?! Next up is a strip of Gold Foil Sheet that I embossed with the “Vintage” Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, still one of my favorites! The greeting is from the Label Love Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Lost Lagoon. I punched it out with the Artisan Label Punch and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The star is a piece of Lost Lagoon that I cut out with the Stars Framelits and I adhered a Basic Hodgepodge Clip with some Multi-Purpose Glue on top. Another Stampin’ Dimensionals hold that in place. I love the Lost Lagoon with the Basic Black and Gold and the Typeset DSP is just great! I really hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. As always, thanks so much for taking some time out of your day to spend with me! Have a thoroughly amazing Thursday! 🙂

  • Paper Craft Crew 103

Happy Wednesday! Thank you all so very much for your wonderful comments yesterday! I loved reading them all and am so happy that I have the best blog followers in the world! If I was having a bad day yesterday it wouldn’t have lasted long. You guys are the best! You are far too kind to me and I really appreciate it! You put a smile on my face every single day! I’m really happy that you enjoyed the card. I had a lot of fun putting it together and the Wondrous Wreath and the matching Wonderful Wreath Framelits are definitely my favorites in the Holiday Catalog! I can’t wait for all of you to get your hands on the new products! My day yesterday was pretty good. I got my network set up in my apartment last night so I can control my lights and A/C when I’m not home. I also went over to see Heather last night and we got some 16 Handles Fro Yo. Delicious! A nice way to end the day!

It’s Wednesday and that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

    PCCCS103 7-30-2014

I opted to go for another bright and cheery card! I used some Tempting Turquoise Card Stock for the base and a piece of Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper for my background. My greeting is from the Amazing Birthday Stamp Set. I stamped it in Melon Mambo on Whisper White and backed it with a piece of Rich Razzleberry. I stamped it again in Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise and Rich Razzleberry and cut each of the HAPPY’s out with my Paper Snips. They are adhered over the HAPPY’s on the greeting with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My circle greeting is stamped in Old Olive and punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch. Two Basic Jewel Rhinestones are added and another Stampin’ Dimensionals holds it to the main greeting. In the upper left I stamped a banner from the Banner Banter Stamp Set in Pumpkin Pie and punched it out with the Banner Punch. A star is punched out from a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. They are adhered to each other and the card with a few more Stampin’ Dimensionals. A simple card but with all of the bright colors it just screams happy! I hope that you enjoyed my birthday card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. • SUO Challenges 102

Another Monday behind us, I always feel a little better when Monday is done. I had a very nice evening last night. Andrew came by and picked me up and we went to Friday’s for dinner. After, we came back to my place and watched Divergent, he hadn’t see it and said that he really enjoyed it. It was nice to catch up, he has been quite busy lately. He was lucky enough to win tickets to go and see Jason Mraz the Friday that I was away at Convention. He had great seats and really enjoyed himself. An evening spent with a good friend, doesn’t get better than that! 🙂

As always on Tuesday here are this week’s Stampin’ Up! weekly deals…

Now off the fun! The card I have for you today is for the SUO Challenges! This time we ask you to show off your favorite new toys. I was lucky enough to win what I think is probably my favorite thing out of the new holiday catalog while I was at Convention. The card begins with a base of Pear Pizzaz Card Stock The background is a piece of Whisper White that I stamped with the Hardwood Background Stamp in Smoky Slate. Before I adhered the background to the card, I used the Squares Collection Framelits to cut out a piece behind the “window” and adhered a piece of All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper. The background is then adhered to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My window is made again using the Squares Collection Framelits and a piece of Whisper White Card Stock. I adhered a piece of Window Sheet to the backside of the window for a more authentic look. The window is then adhered to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. My wreath is from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Pear Pizzaz, Mossy Meadow, and Cherry Cobbler. To cut it out I used the Wonderful Wreath Framelits. The flowers are also from the same set, cut out with the same framelits, and adhered to wreath with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used my Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers to color in some Basic Jewels Pearls and put them in the centers of all the flowers. The wreath is then adhered to the window with, yes you guessed it, Stampin’ Dimensionals! My greeting is cut out using the Wonderful Wreath Framelits from a piece of Cherry Cobbler and adhered with 2-Way Glue. I went with a white wood background because I felt it gave the card a more wintry feel and I really love the way the wreath looks on the window. So there you have my card for the SUO Challenges: Favorite New Things Challenge. I know Christmas is a ways off, but I do love to play with some new stuff. I hope you enjoyed the card and don’t forget to stop by the blog to see what my fellow designers have used for their cards. I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

  • Eclectic Wood Happiness

Well that was a pretty good Friday, I got out of work a little early! I even got see little Daniel yesterday for dinner. I did forget to take our usual selfie, I’ll remember for next time! I took a little trip to IKEA last night and got some organizers that mount to the wall for the Stampin’ Galley. I need to have certain things right in front of me like my Clear Blocks and specialty ink pads. I put them on the wall last night and I’m loving them already! Everything is a constant work in progress, continuously organizing to make it all work better. I still have a very long way to go but I’ll get there eventually! How was your Friday? I have a lot of projects to get through this weekend but I love that so it’s not a chore at all!

Today I have a card that has been sitting there in my little brain for a while. I needed to get the correct stamp set so I would be able to put it all together. My card begins with a base of Very Vanilla Card Stock. I took a piece of Sahara Sand and cut out part of a circle with the Circles Collection Framelits from the right side. I then ran it though the Texture Boutique using the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Before I adhered it to the card I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the sun from the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set in Crushed Curry. The leaves and the butterflies are also form the same set. I stamped the butterflies in Lost Lagoon and punched then out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch and the Bitty Butterfly Punch. A staple from our new Handheld Stapler* creates the body of each and they are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The leaves are stamped in Old Olive and cut out with my Paper Snips. I separated some Linen Thread and created two loops to put under the flower which is from the Choose Happiness Stamp Set. I stamped it in Blackberry Bliss and cut it out with my Paper Snips, Stampin’ Dimensionals hold it in place as well. The greeting is from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set, I stamped it in Early Espresso and angled the right side before adhering it to the card with a few more Stampin’ Dimensionals. I told you that I loved the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set and I think it works nicely with the Choose Happiness Stamp Set. They are definitely two of my favorites! Are you enjoying the Kinda Eclectic Set as much as I am?! I hope you are enjoying the cards! Thanks very much for taking the time to visit me, have a great Saturday! 🙂

  • Pals Paper Arts 213 & Yes… More Pics!

Oh my… guess what?! Yup… it’s FRIDAY! Woo hoo! I have to say that this week went by fast and considering I was at work on Monday for 13 hours that’s a great thing! I will be getting crafty this weekend, I have a bunch of thank you cards to make! I think that those are my favorite cards to send out! I really should keep a bunch on hand but I like to think of the person that I am sending it to and try to make it for them. That makes sense, right?! Last night my friend Maureen stopped by for a bit and after she left I put on some Sam and spent a little time in the Stampin’ Galley! Yes, I have decided on the name! Thank you for all of your suggestions! What finally made the decision is, are you ready for really corny?! I thought, I can can cook up some cards in the Stampin’ Galley! Pretty bad huh?! LOL! It made me chuckle and I hope you got a laugh too! So, I think that these are the last of the pictures from Convention. Unless you count the few of just me that I really like, but that would be a little narcissistic of me to post those. I don’t really like many pictures of myself but my friend Amanda takes amazing pictures. These are all ones that she took except for the first one, that’s her and I!

    Amanda & I

She is a very talented photographer! You can see in these next shots exactly what I mean…

    Pam & I

That’s Pam and I, love the black and white.

    Maggie & I

This one is of Maggie and I, it just makes me smile when I see it! Was I right? Amanda is a pretty great photographer!

I really do love being with all of the people at Convention, it is a very good time, the best part is of course seeing all of my peeps!

Now it’s off to today’s card and it’s for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch…

    PPA 213

Oh the possibilities! I actually took one look at it and knew just what I wanted to do. I was itching to get the Kinda Eclectic set and I need to get to using it! The only thing I wasn’t sure of was what colors I wanted to use. The card begins with a base of Night of Navy Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack. I spritzed it with some Night of Navy Ink before adhering it to the base. My three panels are all Vary Vanilla backed by Night of Navy and all of the images are from the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set. The top and bottom are stamped with the leaves in Baked Brown Sugar. For the middle I stamped the sun in Crisp Cantaloupe. My greeting is from the Something to Say Stamp Set and is stamped in Blackberry Bliss on Vellum Card Stock. I adhered the Vellum to the sun with some Vellum Adhesive. The top and bottom panels are adhered with SNAIL and the middle with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Two butterflies, also from Kinda Eclectic, are stamped in Blackberry Bliss and punched out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch. I adhered them with Mini Glue Dots and fluffed up their wings. The card needed a little something else so I adhered some 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins in the upper right and lower left. I love the simplicity of the layout and the eclectic mix of colors! And there is my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch! I hope that you enjoyed the card and the pictures. Thank you so much for coming by to see what I’m up to, I hope that you have a very enjoyable Friday! 🙂
