  • Creation Station Tour – Confetti

    creation station header

Hello everyone! I had a very nice afternoon in Manhattan yesterday! I will fill you in on all of it tomorrow, including some fun pictures, but today it’s time for the Creation Station Blog Tour! I’m hoping that you have been along for our previous ones! I f this is your first time here welcome and I hope that you find inspiration in the projects. This time around we are featuring the Dotty Angles Photopolymer Stamp Set, Confetti and Coaster Board. If you are following the tour you have arrived here from Deborah Smart’s blog, now those were some great projects! I have two projects for you today. Normally I would have taken pictures of the steps to make the projects but with my moving and unpacking distracting me I forgot! I hope that the descriptions are good enough for this time!

First up I have a fun card for you and it starts off with a base of Hello Honey Card Stock. I stamped my greeting from the Hi There Stamp Set, stamped in Bermuda Bay and the stamp from the Dotty Angles Stamp Set stamped across the top in the same color. Before adhering the background I adhered a piece of Bermuda Bay for a nice double border. I used my Stampin’ Trimmer and the Squares Collection Framelits to cut a piece of Whisper White in the form of a Polaroid Frame. I adhered a piece of Window Sheet to the back and used the excess sides from the Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop it up and make a holder for my confetti. The confetti is simply Bermuda Bay and Hello Honey Card Stock that I punched out with the 1/4″ Circle Punch. I adhered the Polaroid to the card to create the shaker frame. A piece of Hello Honey cut out with the Squares Collection Framelits creates the border around the frame and a few extra punched out pieces are adhered next to the greeting. Sometimes when you need some confetti a few simple punched out circles are a good thing to use. A fun card that is sure to brighten anyone’s day!

My final project for today uses Coaster Board. I was sitting there wondering what to do when I thought, I wonder if you can watercolor Coaster Board? I got out my Flower Frenzy Bigz L Die and cut out some and went to work with my Aqua Painter. I used Crisp Cantaloupe for the base flower, Calypso Coral for the next layer and Tangerine Tango for the top. My middle uses Crushed Curry and Daffodil Delight. While the Coaster Board was drying I used my fingers to shape the petals a little. The leaves are painted with some Pear Pizzaz and adhered to the Soft Sky Background with Multi-Purpose Glue. The main pieces of the flower are all adhered to each other and the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals . A Mini Glue Dot holds the top piece in place and some Basic Jewels Pearls complete the flower. My greeting is from the Tag Talk Stamp Set and is stamped in Calypso Coral and also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I decided that a shadow box frame that I picked up from HomeGoods would be a perfect way to display the project. I love the color variation in the Coaster Board when it’s watercolored! Such a cool effect don’t you think?!

So there are my projects for the Creation Station Blog Tour! Like I said earlier, I hope that you are inspired and that you will give the Coaster Board and watercoloring a try. Your next stop on the tour is Jen Arkfeld! She always has some amazing stuff! Thank you for coming by to see my projects and enjoy the rest of the tour and have a wonderful Sunday! 🙂

  • Freshly Made Sketches 143 and a Quilt!

I had a very busy day yesterday! Busy but in a good way! I was up quite late on Thursday night, my friend Heather stopped by at 12:30AM with a large bottle of wine that needed finishing, I had to help her! I got up yesterday morning a lot later than I usually do and got right to organizing and putting stuff away. Andrew came by around 1:00PM with pizza for lunch, just when you think he can’t get any better! He helped me put up shelves and pictures, organize and put away more stuff. I feel very accomplished and that makes me very happy! I watched a movie last night, Non-Stop with Liam Neeson, a very good but tense movie. Those are fun sometimes aren’t they?! This morning I have a lot on my list too. I need to see if I can get the rest of my stuff out of the old apartment and work on some projects for tomorrow’s Creation Station Blog Tour. I’m also going to head into Manhattan around 2:00Pm to meet up with my friend Kim. Satellite Lane has a proposal to do in Central Park and we are going to go and see that. After Andrew, Kim and I are going to go and have some dinner and drinks! A busy day, I hope I can get it all done!

One of the best parts of my blog is getting to know some of you through comments and emails. A very sweet friend of mine, Grace, shares some pictures with me from time to time. The other day she sent me a picture of a quilt that she had made. I was amazed at how beautiful it is! I know some people that quilt and it’s not easy work. I asked her if I could share the picture with you and she graciously said yes! Here it is in all it’s glory…

    Log Cabin Quilt-WM

Isn’t it gorgeous! Great colors and patterns! Thank you Grace for letting me share your beautiful creation!

One more thing before I get to today’s card. Someone had asked me the other day what I call my craft space. I don’t have a name for it. I thought it would be fun to get suggestions from you! You guys always have such inventive ways to describe things. I posted a picture of it the other day and you can see it HERE. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think it should be called!

Now on to today’s card which is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Cindy L….

    Freshly Made Sketches #143

I love the layout! So many possibilities! I used some Crumb Cake Card Stock for the base of the card. The stars are created with the Hearts & Stars Mask, a Sponge Dauber and Crumb Cake Ink. A strip of paper from the Confetti Celebration Designer Series Paper Pack goes across the bottom. Next up I cutout a piece of Bermuda Bay with two of the Circles Collection Framelits. A piece of Vellum Card Stock is also cut out and adhered behind the circle with Multi-Purpose Glue and a little more glue adheres it to the card. A strip of Pistachio Pudding and a one of Basic Gray, with the right side flagged, are mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals on top of the Designer Series Paper. My greeting is from the Hi There Stamp Set and is stamped in Tangelo Twist and punched out with the 3/4″ Circle Punch. To add a little sparkle I adhered three Pistachio Pudding 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins to the vellum circle. The masked stars are a fun addition to the background and I love those sequins! Thanks for taking a little time out of your busy day to come by and visit with me to see my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. You all make my days better! Don’t forget to let me know what my stamp space should be called by leaving a comment. I hope that you also enjoyed Grace’s quilt as much as I did! Have a wonderful Saturday! 🙂

  • Mojo 352

The best thing about today is that it’s Friday, well, actually as far as the week is concerned it’s Thursday but as the work week it’s my Friday! Work yesterday was really busy but I did get a lot accomplished. I came home and had some dinner and then ran over to the old apartment to get some more stuff. I have to have it all out of there by Friday, where I’m going to put it is another story! I need a storage unit, or to thin out some more stuff. I think I’ll go with the latter! I also had a nice long phone call with my friend Danielle, love when you can talk on the phone for 1 1/2 hours and there isn’t even a pause! Do you have any big plans for the 4th? It’s supposed to rain here, which Winston will be very happy about, he hates fireworks and it was like Beruit here last year. I might have plans and I might not, either way I’m good!

My craft therapy last night resulted in my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch from Julee Tilman…

    Mojo352

Another tall & skinny sketch!! Yeah! Love them! My card begins with a base of Lost Lagoon Card Stock and the background is just a plain piece of Smoky Slate. The strip of paper is from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. I’m loving that Stack but as of tomorrow I have an order coming so I will have more options! Next up is a piece of Basic Gray that I embossed with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My star is from the Be the Star Stamp Set and is stamped in Lost Lagoon and cut out with the Stars Framelits. For the greeting I used the Lots of Thanks Stamp Set, again stamped in Lost Lagoon and cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. Before I popped it out I ran my Lost Lagoon Stampin’ Write Marker around the inside. I think it gives it a nice border. Finally I cut out a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper with the Stars Framelits and punched the center out with the star from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold all of the elements to the card. My favorite part of today’s card is the circle around the greeting, simple yet effective. I can;t believe I never thought to do it before! I hope that you enjoyed my Mojo Monday card for this week’s sketch. I always appreciate your visits and love reading your comments. Sorry I have been replying so late in the day! Thank you! Have a great Thursday! 🙂

  • Paper Craft Crew 100 and a Birthday!

Today is a very special day because it’s a very special person’s birthday! Today is Andrew’s birthday! Happy birthday to one of the best friends that anyone could ever hope for! He has been the biggest help with all of my stuff going on lately and I owe him big time! LOL! So happy birthday my friend and I hope that you have a day just as awesome as you are!! I’ll post his card as soon as I get to give it to him! 🙂

Today is Wednesday which means that I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

    PCCCS100 7-02-2014

WhenI saw the sketch I knew exactly what I wanted to do for the middle panel and then the rest of the card just fell into place! The card starts off with a base of So Saffron Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Lullaby Designer Series Paper Pack. My middle panel is a piece of Whisper White that I stamped with one of the stamps from the Choose Happiness Stamp Set in Crisp Cantaloupe. I backed it with a piece of Pistachio Pudding and adhered it to the card. A strip of adhesive cork sheet goes across the middle instead of ribbon. The wood banner and bird are also from the Choose Happiness Stamp Set and are both stamped in So Saffron. The wood banner is cut out with the Banners Framelits and the bird with my Paper Snips. My greeting is from the And Many More Stamp Set and is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar on Pistachio Pudding and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits. I used the fork method to tie a tidy little piece of Crisp Cantaloupe Baker’s Twine into a bow and adhered it to the banner with a Mini Glue Dot. I love the soft colors and my favorite part is the way the flower stamped background turned out! I really hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Pop by the BLOG and see the other designers creations and add yours so I can take a peek! There is also some blog candy up for grabs! Thank you so much for your visit, have a great day!! 🙂

  • SUO Challenges 100!

I have had a very busy couple of weeks with my move and I decided to take Andrew’s very sage advice and relax tonight. I need to accept that things take time and there is nothing saying that I need to have everything done in 4 days! My friend Heather came by and we had a few glasses of wine, a much needed reprieve from unpacking and organizing! I did get some crafty time in and that always makes my day a little better. Work was very busy today and I definitely needed to relax and unwind. Some wine with a friend is always a good way to end a Monday wouldn’t you agree?!

It’s Tuesday and that means there are new weekly deals from Stampin’ Up!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our 100th challenge! For this challenge you can go back through challenges 1 through 99 and pick you favorite. I went with #60, Glitter Galore! I definitely think that my card fits the challenge! The base of today’s card is Mossy Meadow Card Stock. For background I used a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper, glitter… check! A strip of paper from the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack is cut on an angle at the bottom and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The flowers and leaves are from the Flower Patch Photopolymer Stamp Set, The leaves are stamped in Mossy Meadow and the flowers in Blushing Bride and Strawberry Slush. I used the Flower Fair Framelits to cut them out. The flowers are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the leaves with SNAIL. My greeting is from the And Many More Stamp Set and is stamped in Strawberry Slush on Daffodil Delight, flagged and then tucked under the flowers. I put a Basic Jewel Rhinestone in the middle of each flower for some extra sparkle! So there you have my card for the 100th SUO Challenges challenge. I definitely think I fulfilled the glitter galore criteria! LOL! I hope you like the card and that you will take some time go and visit the blog to see what the other design team members choose for their favorite challenge. We would love to see what you choose too so make a project and enter it in the gallery! Thank you very much for coming by today and I wish you a very happy Tuesday! 🙂

  • Paper Players 202

Moving continues. The first half of today was spent unpacking and organizing. I had a nice lunchtime surprise visit from my friend Kim and the munchkins. Kim bought my favorite veggie tuna wrap from the local deli and I smothered it in hot sauce. A delicious lunch and a welcome break. After lunch, I headed back to the old place to get more stuff, brought it back to the new house and repeated the morning’s tasks. Andrew came by in the evening to help bring more stuff back over and I got a phone call from my friend Brian who I haven’t seen in 3 and a half years, so we met at Starbucks for a little bit. Another welcome break! LOL! I finished off the evening with more unpacking and organizing, with help it always goes faster! Not a very exciting day, but at least I was productive!

Luckily though, I found some time in the day to make a card! That card is for this week’s Paper Players Tic-Tac-Toe challenge from my friend Sandy…

    Paper Players #202

I don’t know if you remember or not, but I’m a big fan of the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge, and there was a time that I did every box on the square. This time I opted for 7 of the 9. LOL! The base of my card is a simple piece of Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Soft Sky that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The main panel is another piece of Whisper White and I stamped the leaves from the Choose Happiness Stamp Set in Mossy Meadow and the greeting is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement. I used the “Vintage” Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack to notch out the two half circles on either side of the panel and tied a piece of Linen Thread in the notched out parts. The flower is from the Beautiful Bunch Stamp Set, I stamped it once in Strawberry Slush and again in Daffodil Delight so I could cut out the center. I curled the petals and then used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere both pieces to each other and the card. To get in my seventh box, I strategically placed some Basic Jewels Rhinestones around the card. I’m a huge fan of the way the Woodgrain Embossing Folder looks with any kind of floral image. I think it gives it a rustic, natural look. So there you have my card for the Paper Players Tic-Tac-Toe challenge from Sandy. And let’s not forget, this is a special card because it is the first one to come out of my new creative space! I hope you enjoyed the card, that you had a good weekend and a fun week ahead. Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂

  • Groovy Pictogram Hive Love

Well, it’s here, Saturday or as it’s known to me the big moving day. I was so tired at work yesterday that I think I dozed off at my desk for a few minutes a few times! Oops! The graduation was packed last night and the way they had it set up you couldn’t get close enough to take a picture. But I do have this picture of my Brother and little Daniel.

    Jason & Daniel

As you can see I am clearly the better looking one out of the two of us! LOL! But seriously, I can’t stand how cute that little guy is! So back to today, Fred will be here at 8:00 and Andrew… well… Andrew is not a morning person but I have hope that he will be here early! My goal is to get almost everything else over there, Fred would like to be finished. I will let you know what happens tomorrow! The most important thing is to set up my new craft space, I have a few ideas as to what I’m going to do and you’ll see them soon.

So when I got home last night I decided to make a card that has been floating around in my head for a while. I just wasn’t sure what colors I wanted to use. Well I finally decided so out it came and here it is. The base of the card is Real Red Card Stock. My background is a piece of Hello Honey. I cut out some Baked Brown Sugar with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit and then cut out a piece of that with the Circles Collection Framelits. Some 2-Way Glue and SNAIL adhere it to the background. My greeting is form the Pictogram Punches Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red. I adhered the panel to my card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The heart is from the Groovy Love Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red and punched out with the Sweetheart Punch. I used the What’s Up punch and some Gold Foil Sheet to punch out an arrow, cut in half and adhered it behind the heart and then Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the heart to the card. Some more Gold Foil Sheet is punched out with the heart from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and adhered in the middle of the greeting. Finally I adhered a few 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins, the Baked Brown Sugar hearts to be exact, on the hive to finish off the card. A somewhat bold color combination but I really like it! You’ll have to let me know what you think of it in the comments! Thanks for sharing a little time with me today and I hope that you have a stress free Saturday! 🙂

Morning already! I feel like I just went to bed! I had to run into Manhattan last night to help a friend with some computer issues and by the time I got home it was 11:20. I still had to make a card and type my post so I sat down at the craft desk, or what’s left of it, and got to work. It’s funny how I can get home that late and still look forward to making something. There was no packing last night however, pending the weather my friend Fred from work is going to come over and we are going to start moving the furniture later on today. Andrew is supposed to help too. Fingers crossed people that it doesn’t rain until the earliest Monday!

The card that I made when I got home last night is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Jennifer B….

    Freshly Made Sketches #142

Thankfully it is a nice simple sketch! I started my card with some Very Vanilla Card Stock. The panel is one of the Project Life Everyday Adventure Journaling Cards that I trimmed and rounded the corner with the Project Life Corner Rounder. A strip of Bermuda Bay is embossed with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered across the lower half of the card. I received my new plates for the Texture Boutique yesterday and I’m happy to report that they work great! I used the Circle Card Thinlits Dies to cut out some Crushed Curry for the chevrons and Bermuda Bay for the greeting. Some slivers of Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the card. It needed a little something so I sprinkled some sequins around to finish off the card. I actually like the mix of different arrows/chevrons and love the colors together! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I really do appreciate you taking the time to visit with me and love reading your comments! I hope you all have a nice Thursday! 🙂

Things are chugging right along here. Thankfully it’s Wednesday and we are halfway through one of the busiest weeks I’ve had in a long time. From now on when I say I’m busy (with crafty things), I’ll appreciate it more. LOL! It was another nice day here today. Work was work, as usual. Our favorite moving assistant Andrew was back over last night and more boxes were packed, papers shredded, and purging accomplished. I started to pack up my stamp sets. They have so far filled 2 36-gallon totes. I think I may have a problem. If you may suffer from the same problem, call 1-800-2MNYSTMPS. LOL! On an even sadder note, there’s probably another full 36-gallon tote to be filled.

It’s Wednesday, and that means that I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

An interesting sketch, don’t you think? For my card I started off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack on the top and to keep it simple, a plain of piece of Blushing Bride on the bottom. To hide the seam, I stamped a piece of Baked Brown Sugar with the Draw the Line Photopolymer Stamp Set in Baked Brown Sugar. The greeting on the center panel is from the Age Awareness Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo on Whisper White and backed with a piece of Blushing Bride. The “Celebrate You” and cupcake both come from the Cupcake Party Stamp Set. The “Celebrate You” Is stamped in Island Indigo and cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits. The cupcake is stamped in Blushing Bride and Baked Brown Sugar and punched out with the Cupcake Builder Punch. To finish off the card I punched out a piece of Island Indigo with the 1″ Circle Punch and adhered 3 stars from the 2013-2015 In-Color Sequin Assortment. All of the elements on the card are propped up using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I like the way that the greetings from the Age Awareness and Cupcake Party Stamp Sets coordinate. It makes for easy stamp set collaboration. Not to mention, I really like the font. And there you have my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Take a little time and head on over to the blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has done with the sketch and don’t forget to enter your card in the gallery!

Happy Tuesday, folks! Monday turned out to be a very productive day. I got quite a few things accomplished at work which is always a good way to start off the week. More importantly, I got a lot accomplished at home! I managed to pack 5 more boxes in the living room and then the amazing Andrew came by and we tackled the closet. Six full black garbage bags later, it seems much more manageable. LOL! We were good, we put the top down in the convertible, threw the bags in the back and took them to the drop-off box to donate them. Tomorrow, Andrew will be moving stuff for me while I’m at work which I’m very excited about. LOL! It’s definitely the way moving should be done! Keep your fingers crossed that it doesn’t rain on Saturday otherwise I will be a very unhappy camper.

Before I started packing last night, I sat down and made my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

    Mojo351

I was looking around at my recent cards and realized I’ve used Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey far too much. So to mix it up today, I threw some Lost Lagoon in there. The base of my card is Smoky Slate Card Stock. My background consists of a piece of paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack on the left and some Basic Gray that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next up is a piece of Silver Foil Sheet that I cut out with the Starburst Framelits. Across the middle of the card is a piece of Hello Honey that I flagged on both ends and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My tag is a piece of Whisper White cut to 1 5/8″ wide, I marked the center on the back and slid it in the Angled Tag Topper Punch, a skinnier version of the standard tag. The background on it is created with the Dotty Angles Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Sky. My greeting is from the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set and is stamped in Lost Lagoon. A piece of White Bakers Twine is looped through the hole in the top. The star is a piece of Smoky Slate that I cut out with the Stars Framelits. I like the way the DSP, Embossing Folder and background on the tag all coordinate so well. I’m also a big fan of the interesting color combination and this would make a good masculine birthday card. Sound off in the comments and let me know what you think of my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. Your visit, as always, is greatly appreciated. Have a terrific Tuesday! 🙂
