Even though I had off from work on Friday that weekend flew by! I guess that the fundraiser on Friday night and all of the packing and painting ate it up! LOL! I did get a lot accomplished on Saturday and Sunday. Andrew has been a huge help and I could’t have gotten half of what I did get accomplished with out him! He’ll be back tonight for more! Don’t awesome friends make the world a much better place?! I’m lucky that I have so many! That includes all of you too! 🙂

It’s Monday and that means that it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This time Nance has given us a sketch challenge…

    Paper Players #201

Fun and simple. As soon as I looked at it yesterday morning I knew which DSP and stamp set I wanted to use! I need that to happen, especially this week! My card begins with a base of Mossy Meadow Card Stock. The strip down the middle is a piece of paper from the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the Stampin’ Trimmer with the Tiny Wave Blade to give the edges some added interest. At the top I sponged a piece of the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper with some Strawberry Slush Ink. On top of that is a piece of Strawberry Slush, I used my Paper Snips to flag both and the card stock is adhered to the glimmer paper with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Hello There Host(ess) Stamp Set and is stamped in Strawberry Slush for the border and Mossy Meadow for the greeting. I used the Starburst Framelits to cut out the border and the 1 3/8″ Circle Punch to punch out the greeting. Stampin’ Dimensionals also adhere them to the card and each other. For a little extra sparkle I randomly adhered some 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins to the card. I love the way the Dazzling Diamonds looks when you change the color! So cool! And sequins just make everything better don’t you think?! Thank you very much for coming by to see my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge. I love having you stop by and I hope that you all have a magnificent Monday! 🙂

  • Fab Friday 44

Hello peeps and welcome to an extremely happy Friday! The reason for that is I am off from work today! It was rainy here yesterday but cleared up in the afternoon, just in time for painting fun! Danielle and I went to Lowe’s and picked up the paint, met up with Andrew and had some dinner at Hurricane Grill and Wings. We started painting around 9 and finished at about 11:30. We managed to get the living room done. It was quite enjoyable because we had some laughs. The paint spilling on the drop cloths resulted in the soles of Andrew’s shoes being covered in paint. So we came up with an interesting way to get him out of the house without dragging paint everywhere. See below…

If you look in the background, you can see the color of the paint that I chose. Although I hope Andrew and I were more interesting than the paint color. LOL!

This Friday is made even better because it’s a Fab Friday! This time, we have a color challenge for you…

    Fab Friday 44

Yes, those are all the new In-Colors! I used one of my favorite stamp sets, the Choose Happiness Stamp Set. My card begins with a base of Whisper White Card Stock and the foundation for my images is a piece of Mossy Meadow that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and rounded the corners using the Project Life Corner Rounder. All of the images are from the Choose Happiness Stamp Set, the woodgrain flag is stamped in Hello Honey, the bird in Lost Lagoon, the flowers in Tangelo Twist and the greeting in Blackberry Bliss. I used the Banners Framelits to cut out the woodgrain flag and the greeting is punched out with the Artisan Label Punch. A few strategically placed pearls along with some random ones finish off the card. I hope you enjoyed my video and card for the Fab Friday color challenge. Head on over to the blog to see what the rest of the design team has done with it and upload your project so we can see what you do with it. Thanks for spending some of your Friday with me, enjoy the rest of your day! 🙂

  • SUO Challenges 99

That was a pretty good Monday as far as Monday’s go! Work was ok, I got stuff done and wasn’t crazy busy. I went over to Kim’s after work and got to see the munchkins! Those two little girls are just the cutest! We had Tacos and wine and my friend Dave was there too. I haven’t seen him in a while so it was nice to catch up. My friend Danielle came back to work yesterday too! I was so glad to have her back! She is so sweet, I collect the Starbucks You are Here mugs and she remembered and brought me one back! What a nice surprise! Thoughtful friends are awesome aren’t they?! She is also going to help me paint the new apartment on Wednesday which goes above and beyond. I don’t know why but I hate painting! It will be fun with Danielle so I may not mind it as much! 🙂

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Summer challenge. All we ask is for something Summer related, ocean, beach or patriotic. I saw this card in the catalog when I first looked through it. I love the card so I had to CASE it! The base of the card is Crumb Cake Card Stock and I used a Stampin’ Spritzer with some Pear Pizzaz Re-Inker to spritz it. The main panel is a piece of Watercolor Paper. I spritzed it with some more Pear Pizzaz and Chocolate Chip Re-Inker before stamping my images. All of the images are from the By the Tide Stamp Set. I stamped the coral twice in Crushed Curry, the script and the seal are stamped in Pear Pizzaz. I then went over it with my Aqua Painter to give it the washed out look. The seahorse is stamped in Island Indigo and cut out with my Paper Snips. My greeting is from the And Many More Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo. Across the card is a piece of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon that I altered a little and adhered with some Fast Fuse Adhesive. The strips of Island Indigo and Pear Pizzaz are crumpled and adhered with a Mini Glue Dot. The stampin Distress Tool is used around the edges for that worn look. Finally, I wrapped some Linen Thread around the panel and tied a Basic Metal Button in it. I think I liked the card so much because its a little messy and I never use my Stampin’ Distress Tool so it was a good excuse to try it out! I like to step outside my comfort zone, the crumpling of the paper was new for me too! LOL! That said I hope that you enjoyed my take on the card from the catalog for the SUO Challenges Summer Themed challenge. Stop by the blog to see the other deign team’s projects. I really do appreciate you coming by too see me and I hope that you enjoy your day! 🙂

  • Gold Tangelo Star Feathers

So how was your Friday? Mine was pretty good. It was a little rainy during the day and quite muggy but I managed to have a very productive but not overly busy day at work. The best part of yesterday was that I was able to get tickets to go and see Sam Smith on September 19th! I guess they can be a little bit of an early birthday present to myself, the concert is just seven days after it! You know that I’m huge music fan and I get a little obsessed from time to time. I think that his album is one of the best that I have heard in years. I’m big fan of the words in songs and here are some from one called Make it to Me…

You’re the one designed for me
A distant stranger that I will complete
I know you’re out, there we’re meant to be
So keep your head up and make it to me

The album is called In the Lonely Hour, we all feel a little lonely at times, don’t we. It’s a melancholy album but I don’t feel sad when I listen to it. I think that it’s nice for someone to express things that we have all felt at one time or another. It makes us feel less lonely. The album is out Tuesday! I’m off to Manhattan in a few for the morning, just to wander for a bit!

Now on to the fun stuff! I had so much fun with the Stars Framelits that I had to play with them again! I did a funky card with lots of gold! The card starts off with a base of Tangelo Twist Card Stock. I used the Stars Framelits to partially cut the larger star with my Big Shot and the the entire one out of the middle. I cut a piece of Window Sheet out with them too and then a piece of Gold Foil Sheet. I adhered the gold one to the Window Sheet to make it “float”. A strip of Basic Black with a piece of Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape across it goes along the bottom. My feathers are from the A Happy Hooray Stamp Set, they are heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Basic Black and cut out with my Paper Snips. The pictures don’t do them justice, they look really cool unperson, almost 3D! My greeting is from the Banner Banter Stamp Set and is also heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a hexagon that I cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit. To finish off the card I Sprinkled some of the Gold Sequin Trim singles across the card. I wasn’t a huge fan of Tangelo Twist but I do like it with the Black and Gold! I hope that you enjoyed my funky just for fun card for today’s post. Thank you for coming by, I really do appreciate your visits! Have a great Saturday peeps! 🙂

  • Pals Paper Arts 207

Come on, you know what I’m going to say! I say it every week at this time! It’s FRIDAY!!!! Woo hoo! I really do love a Friday! I had a busy day at work yesterday. I had to go to one of our other buildings and fix the TV’s that play the loop. When that became my job I’ll never know. After that I had to walk around the building and create a map. Do you know how hard it is to create a map of a building that has about 100 rooms in it and no starting point?! It’s not easy I’ll tell you! After work I took a ride with my friend Sandy to her Up-Lines for a meeting. She had some new Catalog stuff, we went over the current promotions and made a card. When I got home at 10:00 last night I had to make today’s card, it was just dying to get out of my head! LOL!

Speaking of today’s card it’s for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. First I want to thank the wonderful Pals for selecting my card as one of the top picks for last week’s color challenge! You can see the winner’s post HERE and my original post HERE. Now for this week’s color challenge…

    PPA 207

Another patriotic combo! I see that they have Midnight Muse in there so I thought I would dust it off, it is definitely one of my favorite blues! The card base is Real Red Card Stock. I used a piece of Whisper White for my background and stamped one of the paint strokes from the Work of Art Stamp Set in Real Red. The greeting is from the Geometrical Stamp Set and is stamped in Midnight Muse. My two larger stars are cut out with the Stars Framelits from a piece of Midnight Muse and Silver Foil Sheet. I punched three more stars out with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack from Silver Foil Sheet and adhered all of them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Another simple card but I love the way the paint stroke make it look like a shooting star! There is my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. I’m happy that I let it escape last night! LOL! Thank you so very much for stopping by the blog today. I hope that you all have an awesome Friday! 🙂

  • Paper Craft Crew 97

Today was another overcast day here on Long Island. I did mention yesterday that it was going to rain all week, and I think the weathermen actually got it right this time. It’s muggy but cool, so I guess that’s one plus. I mentioned that I’m moving and I wanted to get started early because I intend to not take a lot of things with me when I go. Last night began the purging. Andrew came by and we got through 25 boxes of stuff from my attic and condensed them into about 5 or 6. An impressive amount of work for one evening! But isn’t everything so much better when you have friends to do it with? The process is moving along nicely, no pun intended, and I’m much less stressed about the whole situation!

A quick bit of news from Stampin’ Up! They released a new Photopolymer Stamp Set yesterday called Calling All Heroes. It’s a fun set with cartoon like images and an alphabet to go along with it. You can see the flyer below or click HERE to download a PDF.

It’s Wednesday, once again time for my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

    PCCCS097 Sketch 6-11-2014

I will admit, I was a little puzzled when I first looked at the sketch. I saw it as more of a suggestion for a layout, but not necessarily a sketch where the size of each element had to stay true. After looking at it that way, everything fell into place. The card base is Wisteria Wonder Card Stock and the background is a piece of Daffodil Delight embossed with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next up is one of the Tea Lace Paper Doilies. The chevrons are Blackberry Bliss and is punched out with the Chevron Border Punch. My greeting comes from the Oh My Goodies Stamp Set, is stamped in Blackberry Bliss on Whisper White and is cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits. The flower is from the Beautiful Bunch Stamp Set, Stamped in Blackberry Bliss on Wisteria Wonder and punched out with the Fun Flower Punch. In the middle is a Vintage Faceted Designer Button that I colored with the Medium Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Marker. All of the elements are adhered to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals to give it that extra pop. I wasn’t too sure about the Wisteria Wonder and Blackberry Bliss together at first, but after finishing the card I really like the way that they complement each other. It’s pretty amazing that the Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers can color on just about anything! After all is said and done, a pretty good sketch. So there you have it, my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge, I hope you enjoyed it! Take a few minutes to stop by the blog and see the other designers’ take on the sketch. Thanks for checking out the blog today! Have a happy Hump Day! 🙂

  • Mojo 349 & More Pics!

Well, it was a true Monday yesterday. It pretty much rained all day and is supposed to for the rest of the week. After the beautiful weekend that we had there really is no reason to complain though! Work was work, not much exciting to report there. After work I had some dinner and then came home and made my card for today. I went to Sandy’s for her new catalog launch. It’s always fun to see everyone and catch up. The rest of the evening was uneventful, which can also be a good thing! As promised I have some more of the pictures from Sunday to share with you today!

Before we left Brooklyn we found this large area where you could play basketball and all kinds of other sports. As we walked through we found one of my favorite things in the world, a swing set! The best part was it was big enough for adults!

    IMG_0301

So there I am being a kid on the swing set! I love the fact that all of buildings are behind me too!

    IMG_0269

Here is a little selfie of Kim and I when we got on the boat, a little windy but it felt nice!

    IMG_0272

A view from the back of the boat looking downtown. That’s the Manhattan Bridge and then the Brooklyn Bridge.

    IMG_0278

A little further up and you can see the Freedom Tower.

    IMG_0290

The two tall buildings are on left, the Empire State Building and to the right the Chrysler Building.

    IMG_0297

Thats the UN Building and the tall black one is where a friend of mine lives. To the left is the Chrysler Building again.

It really was a fun day and I hope that you enjoyed all of the pictures. I’ll see if I can sneak in some more later in the week, I did take a lot of pictures!

Before I get to today’s post I wanted to let you know this week’s specials from Stampin’ Up!

    Weekly Deals 6-10-2014 2

Now on to the business at hand, my card today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch…

    Mojo349

I used a lot of different colors, all of which are in the new All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack. My card begins with a base of Mossy Meadow Card Stock. For the background I embossed a piece of Pistachio Pudding with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder using the Texture Boutique. The strip of paper across the bottom is a piece from the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack. Following the sketch there are two diagonal strips of Daffodil Delight and a strip of Mossy Meadow on the left. My flower and leaves are from the Flower Patch Photopolymer Stamp Set. The flower is stamped in Blushing Bride for the base, Strawberry Slush for the next layer and finally Daffodil Delight for the center. The leaves are stamped in Mossy Meadow and they are all cut out using the Flower Fair Framelits. My greeting comes from the Let Your Hair Down Host(ess) Stamp Set and is also stamped in Mossy Meadow. To finish off the card I glued three of the 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins on the left. I’m loving the colors and the Flower Patch stamps give such nice crisp images and the Framelits make them super easy to cut out. I also like the layering! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I’m so happy that you stopped by and I hope that you have a nice Tuesday! 🙂

  • Paper Players 199 & Brooklyn

Yes, it’s Monday again but I had such a nice day yesterday I don’t even care! I headed into Manhattan around 7:45am and got there around 8:40, not a bad ride in at all! I met Kim at her apartment and we headed over to the Diner for some breakfast. I had some whole wheat pancakes and they were delicious! We then made our way to the subway to head downtown. The subway in the summer on the weekends is so nice, it took us 12 minutes to get from 86th Street to the Brooklyn Bridge stop on the 5 train. As soon as you come out of the subway the bridge is right there so off we went. It’s a pretty cool experience to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, you are up above the cars and there are amazing views of the city. I have a bunch of pictures, so many that I will post some today and some tomorrow! We wandered around in DUMBO for a little while and then had some ice cream from the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, I had coffee and it was delicious! We decided that it was a nice day for a boat ride so we took the NY Waterway boat back to Manhattan. It goes up Brooklyn and then across to 34th Street. After we got off the boat we made our way over to the movie theater to see Maleficient. It was a great movie! Angelia Jolee is perfect as Maleficent. If you don’t know what it’s about it’s a retelling of Sleeping Beauty and it’s really done well. After the movies we headed back up to Kim’s neighborhood and had some Nick’s pizza for dinner and then I headed home. A pretty awesome day! And now for some pictures…

    IMG_0224

This is when you first start walking across to Brooklyn.

    IMG_0230

Here is me with Manhattan behind me. (In my Coastal Cabana shirt! LOL!)

    IMG_0241

Me again with the bridge behind me.

    IMG_0250

This is a pretty neat picture of the bridge with the skyline behind it. You can see the Freedom Tower too.

    IMG_0254

    That’s the Manhattan Bridge.

    IMG_0251

And this is just a pretty neat picture of the skyline of lower Manhattan.

Tomorrow I’ll post some of the ones from the boat so be sure and come back! 🙂

I want to thank Ann Schach for choosing me as her pick for last week’s wedding challenge over at the Paper Players. You can see the winner’s post HERE and my original post HERE.

Now on to this week’s Paper Players challenge. Jaydee has a very patriotic one for us this week…

    Paper Players #199

Red, White and Blue, I immediately thought of July 4th but also thought that a lot of other people would do that so I went a different route. My card starts off with a base of Real Red Card Stock. For the background I used the Darling Doily Thinlit to cut out a piece of Night of Navy and adhered it to the card and snipped off some of the left side. My tag is created with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the bottom corners are rounded with the Project Life Corner Rounder. My greeting and “ice cream” are both from the Cupcake Party Stamp Set. The greeting is stamped in Night of Navy on the tag and the “ice cream” is heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Real Red and punched out with the Cupcake Builder Punch. The cone is punched out with the Pennants Punch and embossed with the Tiny Triangles Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Thanks to Linda for putting the idea into my head! A piece of Vintage White 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon is tied through the top of the tag to finish the card. The icing from the Cupcake Party Set makes neat ice cream too don’t you think?! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge. Thanks you very much for coming by to see my card and share in my Sunday! Love having you stop by! Enjoy your day! 🙂

  • Freshly Made Sketches 139

Hi there! I had a lovely Friday! I had to go out and make some deliveries in the morning and then I cam back to work for an hour and then left at 1:30! I stopped by and had lunch with Heather and then came home and talked to my people downstairs. They are having a baby and I have to move. The good news is that I found an apartment very close to where I am! I will be packing and our friend Andrew will be helping! I really don’t like moving but I’m looking forward to a new adventure. I also hope to be able to set up a better craft space in the new apartment. I went to dinner last night with Bill and Anthony and we got some Red Mango Fro Yo, it’s Bill’s birthday on Sunday and he is being healthy! All in all a very good day. I even had some time when I got home to make a quick card!

That card that I made is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Rita…

    Freshly Made Sketches #139

And yes, the card uses all new goodies! The base is Sahara Sand Card Stock and the background is a piece of Blackberry Bliss that I embossed with the Large Polka Dot Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Those sparkly flagged pieces are the new Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. The pictures definitely don’t do it justice, it’s really sparkly with hints of pink, blue and green in it. I used the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and a piece of Hello Honey to create my tag. A thin strip of the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack goes across the bottom and a piece of Natural 5/8″ Chevron Ribbon tied with a piece of White Baker’s Twine goes through the hole. The feathers and greeting are form the A Happy Hooray Stamp Set, the feathers are stamped in Tangelo Twist and the greeting in Blackberry Bliss. I used my Paper Snips to cut the feathers out and the Hexagon Punch for the greeting. The tag, feathers and greeting are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A fun card with some cool elements and that Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper is just beautiful! That’s my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I hope that you enjoyed the card and your look at some more new products. Thank you for spending a little time with me today! Enjoy your Saturday! I’m off to mount the rest of my stamps! 🙂

  • Fab Friday 43

Finally, it’s Friday! Woo-hoo! I had a nice day at work yesterday. My friend and co-worker Danielle and I went out for lunch for the first time ever! We had pizza and a nice chat. It rained here in the morning but cleared up around noon and it’s supposed to be beautiful through the weekend! I came home after work and busted open my rather large box from Stampin’ Up! containing some serious new Catalog goodies! I had a nice fun few crafty hours and then I remembered that it was time to select the blog candy winner! Conveniently Andrew was here so we wrote all 66 names down on pieces of paper and put them into a bowl. He insisted on doing the selection the old fashioned way! I mixed them up really good and he selected one. Drumroll please… and the winner is Karen!! Please click the contact me link above and send me your address so I can mail your new Stamp Set out to you! Thank you all for leaving the comments. It meant more than you can know to read them all. You truly are the best people in the world! In the end I am the real winner!! 🙂

Not only is today a good Friday because it was blog candy day, but it’s also a Fab Friday week! This week we have a fun sketch for you…

    Fab Fri 43 6-06-2014

I did manage to mount some of the stamps and unwrap some of the accessories so that’s what I used on my card. The base of the card is Bermuda Bay Card Stock and my background is a piece of Baked Brown Sugar that I embossed with the Tiny Triangles Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The strip across the middle is Crisp Cantaloupe and both the background and the strip are adhered with Fast Fuse Adhesive. The “HEY” is cut out using the new Little Letters Thinlits from Bermuda Bay and each letter is propped onto the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Under that, I stamped the other part of my greeting from the And Many More Stamp Set in Bermuda Bay. The three arrows on the right hand side are punched out from Pistachio Pudding, Coastal Cabana and Strawberry Slush with the new What’s Up Punch. To finish off the card, I used a strip of Washi Tape from the Everyday Adventure Project Life Accessory Pack and placed it above my greeting. I love all the geometric shapes on the card and yes, I had a ton of fun with some of my new goodies! I hope you enjoyed my Design Team card for the Fab Friday sketch challenge. Head on over to the blog to see the rest of the designers projects and upload yours to the gallery! Have a Fantastic Friday peeps! 🙂
