Paper Players 181

So, the Superbowl was great huh?! Ok, I’ll admit the only thing that I watched was the half-time show. I thought that it was a pretty good show, Bruno Mars sounds good live and appearance by the Red Hot Chili Peppers was neat if not a bit odd. There was plenty of food and friends to keep me occupied. My friend Michelle brought over fresh strawberries with caramel, chocolate ganachè, peanut butter and cream cheese dip for them. They were delicious and I had a hard time picking a favorite, so I sampled them a few times! LOL! I also had a nice day in Manhattan, I visited some people in the morning and then met my friend Kim for some lunch. We ate fresh, I had my usual BMT, I haven’t had it in a long time and it was yummy! I then stopped by my friend Julia’s house and her little girl Cecily gave me a card that she made for me. It’s so cute! I think we have a future crafter on our hands!

I even got some pictures for you. I was walking down the famous Park Avenue and snapped these. The first one is facing downtown and the second one is facing uptown.

My post today is for this week’s Paper Players, but before I get to that I wanted to thank LeAnne for choosing my card for her Cut Above in last week’s challenge. You can see my original post HERE and the Paper Players winners post HERE. Now for this week the lovely Anne Marie has given us this theme challenge…

As I was siting there pondering what I was going to do I spied a Vintage set of Framelits and that’s where the idea for this card began. My card base is Whisper White Card Stock. I stamped my sentiment on a piece of Coastal Cabana from the Countless Sayings 2 Photopolymer Stamp Set in Baked Brown Sugar. On the bottom part I embossed a piece of Baked Brown Sugar with the Scallops Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My lollipops are form the Sweets for the Sweet Stamp Set and are stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding and Strawberry Slush and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. I used bamboo skewers for the sticks and adhered them to the card with Multi-Purpose Glue. A piece of Window Sheet stamped with the “Vintage” Perfectly Preserved Stamp Set in Opaque White Staz-On and cut out with the “Vintage” Cannery Framelits Dies is adhered to the skewers with more Multi-Purpose Glue. To cover up the glue I cut out a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper with the heart from the Circle Card Thinlits Dies and adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I love the Window Sheet stamped with the Opaque White Staz-On, it really does look like glass and the Champagne Glimmer Heart give the card just a little bit of sparkle! Mojo 330 & Guest Card Maker

Ahh… Thursday, one more day to go! Don’t you just love the countdown to the weekend?! I know I do! Most of the snow that we got yesterday morning has blown away, it was nice and windy and cold here again. Work you ask, well it was crazy busy again! I did have a fun evening though. Danielle came over and we went to Friday’s for dinner. We even had some desert, the Tennessee Whiskey Cake and it was mind blowing-ly amazing! After dinner We came back to the house and Danielle sat at the craft desk and made her very first card. It’s a Valentine’s Day card for her boyfriend Derek. I think that she did a fantastic job! I love the colors and there is just enough grey to make it masculine but a good bit of love too! Here it is…

She colored the love in to make it look a little chalky and the Designer Series Paper is the “Vintage” More Amore from last year’s Occasions Catalog. I love the Smoky Slate with the paper, too bad we didn’t have that color last year! 🙂

Now on to my post for today which is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch…

A fun tall & skinny card! My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. A piece of Strawberry Slush and a piece of Gold Designer Vellum with some Gold Sequin Trim create the background. Next up is a piece of Blushing Bride that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder from Sale-A-Bration. I stamped the Flowerful Heart in Strawberry Slush and cut it out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. A piece of Coastal Cabana is cut out with them too and paper-pierced using the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack. My greeting is form the “Vintage” Perfectly You Host(ess) Stamp Set form the 2013 Holiday Catalog and is cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. I backed it with a piece of Gold Foil Sheet that I cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it all to the card. I really liked the sketch this week and love the heart hanging off the side of the card. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge and my friend Danielle’s card! Paper Players 179

Exciting news people, it’s Thursday already! Yesterday was a pretty good day. I went and picked up Andrew and took him to LaGuardia for his flight to Los Angeles. It took me less time to drive there than it did to get home from work last night, and I work 10 minutes from my house! The roads around here are not in good shape but the parkways are great. Couple that with the fact that a lot of people didn’t got to work yesterday and it was almost a perfect ride to and from the airport. I had one minor glitch, apparently I had no washer fluid left so my windshield was white the whole time! Not very good especially when the sun hit it. I managed to get home in one piece and promptly filled up the reservoir. Work was good, it was only from 12:00 to 5:00 today, every day should be like that! Andrew’s flight left 25 minutes late but they got to LA on time. I hope he has a great time!

I’m very late this week posting my Paper Players card, not sure what happened! LOL!. This week the challenge is a clean and simple one layer card from wonderful Sandy…

I had a little vision when I read the challenge and then I kept forgetting to make the card! LOL! My card base is Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Fine Feathers Stamp Set to heat emboss the image on the base using White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Some Island Indigo and Garden Green are applied using eye shadow sponges to give it color. My greeting is from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set (apparently a favorite of mine this week!) and is stamped in Island Indigo. It doesn’t get much cleaner or simpler than that! I really love the way the feather looks with inks sponged, I used the eye shadow applicators to get a little more precise control. There is my card for this week’s Paper Players CAS One Layer challenge. I really hope that you enjoyed it and thanks for sharing in my day! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 77

So, I think I mentioned that we were supposed to get snow yesterday. They said it was supposed to start around 12:00, well it started at 8:00 and boy did it snow! There was about 5 inches on the ground when they let us out of work at 2:15. My usual 10 minute ride home was a leisurely 40 minutes. It was nice to get out of work early though because I came home and crafted the evening away! My boss called me and asked to put on the company website that we would have a delayed opening today at 12:00 which is very convenient because I’m taking Andrew to the airport this morning. Hopefully the roads will be cleared and it will be an uneventful trip. He is going to LA where it is warm and I’ll admit I’m a little jealous! 🙂

Today is Wednesday so that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. This time around we have a fun simple sketch for you…

I was feeling nostalgic when I sat down to make my card so I dusted off an old favorite of mine! My card base is Very Vanilla Card Stock and the background is a piece of Chocolate Chip that I embossed with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I keep using the reverse side of the folder, I like it better for some reason! My tag is created using the Angled Tag Topper Punch and the stamp is the “Vintage” Young Vermillion, I love the image, it’s so detailed and he looks great stamped in Chocolate Chip. The larger flag and the stars are Pistachio Pudding, the stars are punched out with the Merry Minis Punch pack and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set and is also stamped in Chocolate Chip. The three banners are from the Banner Blast Stamp Set** and are stamped in Pistachio Pudding and punched out with the Banner Punch**. I really do still love that little bird and he looks right at home with the modern elements on the card. So there you have my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch. Paper Craft Crew 76

First day back to work… not too bad! It was nice to see my co-workers, they sort of missed me too! It rained here all day today but that’s better than snow! I had to run and see my friend Betty after work and give her some Mac tutoring, bonus, she made some delicious meatloaf for dinner. Nice comfort food for a dreary day like yesterday. 🙂

It’s Wednesday so that means that today’s post is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch…

I was going to go with the colors in the sketch because I really like them but as you will see from my card I went in the complete opposite direction! My card base is Basic Gray Card Stock and my background is a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder**. A strip of paper from the Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper Pack goes down the left side of the card. I used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch and some Whisper White for my tag. The greeting is from the See Ya Later Stamp Set** and is stamped in Raspberry Ripple. For my flags I used the Banner Blast Stamp Set** inked with Bermuda Bay, Gumball Green and Summer Starfruit and the Banner Punch** is used to punch them out. Three Basic Gray Candy Dots finish off the card. Lots of colors but I think they all work thanks to the Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper! Paper Players 178

Well, I made it back to New York safely from Houston yesterday! Everything went smoothly, which is always nice. Andrew pulled up outside the airport right as I was walking out and we headed to Manhattan and met up with Kim for some lunch. After, Andrew and I wandered around a bit and then headed home. I did manage to snap a few pictures from the plane yesterday. I got a nice one of Houston as I was leaving and some good ones of New York right before we landed.

I was happy to sit down at my craft desk and make my Paper Players card for this week’s color challenge from LeAnne…

I will admit, I was little stumped when I first saw the color challenge. They definitely aren’t colors that I would normally put together! The base of my card is Pear Pizzazz Card Stock and I angled the top to make it look like a tag. The background is a piece of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack and I used the Finishing Touches Edgelits along the bottom. A strip of Primrose Petals is embossed with the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The two large hearts are cut out from Crushed Curry and Primrose Petals using the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies and the smaller heart is punched out with the Full Heart Punch. The large Crushed Curry heart and the smaller Primrose Petals heart are both embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder**. The arrow is from the Label Card Thinlits Dies and is cut out of a piece of Coastal Cabana. I cut it in half to make it look like it was going through the heart. My greeting is from the Just Sayin’ Stamp Set, is stamped in Primrose Petals, and cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits Dies. The tiny heart is punched out from a piece of Crushed Curry with the Small Heart Punch and finishes off the card. This was definitely an interesting color combination, but when it’s all said and done I think the card came out nice! Love Simple Stems

And that a wrap on Leadership 2014! It really did go by fast! I had a wonderful time seeing everyone. I can’t thank Mary Fish and the Pals enough for letting me be a part of their wonderful group while I was here. They are awesome! I have another picture to share with you, this one is of Brian, Bonnie and I. She is just one of the nicest, funniest people ever!

The base of today’s card is Baked Brown Sugar and my background is a piece of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the On Film Framelits Dies to cut out a piece of Coastal Cabana and adhered it to the card with Multi-Purpose Glue. My greeting is from the Love You to the Moon Stamp Set and is stamped directly on the Designer Series Paper in Real Red. My flowers are from the Simple Stems Stamp Set. They are stamped in Real Red and cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits Dies. For the finishing touch I cut out a piece of Real Red with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and adhered the center of it to the card with Sticky Strip. I really like the colors in the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack and it’s cool that the new stamp set works with one of the current Framelit sets. Thanks so much for visiting with me today! Hip Sorbet Parade

I can’t believe that today is the last day of Leadership! The time really flew by, but it has been a great time! Yesterday there was a general session in the morning and then a really nice lunch. The afternoon was filled with breakout classes with all kinds of information. I had a very nice “dinner” with Nicole, Maggie and Linda and then last night was Stampin’ Night Out, with Make and Takes, demonstrations and Prize Patrol. It has been a really wonderful time and I’ll be sad for it to be over. I have some pictures of some of my friends and I for you, just some “selfies” that I took!

Now on to the card! Today’s starts off with a base of Pistachio Pudding and the background is a piece of Sweet Sorbet** Designer Series Paper adhered slightly askew. A piece of Summer Starfruit is embossed with the Scallops Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next up is a piece of Sahara Sand that is cut out with the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit Die. On top of that is a piece of Vellum that I cut out with the Banners Framelits Dies. My tag is created with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the images are from the Petal Parade Stamp Set**. The leaves are stamped in Pistachio Pudding, the large flower in Crisp Cantaloupe punched out with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch and the small flower in Summer Starfruit punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch. The greeting is from the Hip Notes Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black on Pool Party and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. A piece of Natural 5/8″ Chevron Ribbon tied with some Sweet Sorbet Twine** tops the tag. It’s very hard for me to make a card that is “crooked” but I like the way it turned out. Wooden Watercolor

Hello everyone! My presentation was so much fun! I loved doing it! I was actually a little sad when it was over. Thanks to all of you that were able to come and see me! I hope to be able to do one again in the future! Here is peek of me during the presentation.

Some updates for you from Leadership! Stampin’ Up! is coming out with new markers called Blendabilities! They are comparable to Copics and will be available in 12 sets of main colors and one set of flesh tones. The main colors will have three shades of each color and will be $11.95. The flesh tone set will have five markers and will be $22.95. There will also be a color lifter that will be $4.95. I played with them and they are great! Here is the little fox that I colored. You can see the subtle color change towards the top, I used all three colors of Pumpkin Pie that I used! There will also be a Memento Tuxedo Black Stamp Pad available for purchase to used with the markers.

Now on to my card for today. It starts off with a base of Very Vanilla. The main background is a piece of Soft Suede that is embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. On top of that is a piece of Daffodil Delight which is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I cut it to 3 1/4″ by 5 1/4″ and stamped the greeting from the Happy Watercolor Stamp Set in Tangerine Tango. My tag is a piece of Very Vanilla and I used the Angled Tag Topper Punch to create the top. The images and greeting are also from the Happy Watercolor Stamp Set and are stamped in Daffodil Delight, Soft Suede and Tangerine Tango. A piece of Gold Bakers Twine finishes off the tag and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I like the woodgrain peeking out from behind the panel on top, and we all know I love a tag! Lots of <3

Hello kiddies! How are things by you? Things are good here in Houston. My flight was all good yesterday and I arrived safely. I met up with Mary Fish and Brian King and had some lunch. After that we attended a seminar with the very talented Lisa Pretto. Lots of info about using Facebook in your business. The Pals were also nice enough to adopt me once again and I attended their dinner. They really are the sweetest bunch of people you could ever want to meet. I have a few pics for you this morning. First up is Brian and I at lunch, he is such a funny guy!

Today I have a card that is filled with Love for you! The base of my card is Calypso Coral Card Stock and my background is a piece of Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. Next up is a piece of Etcetera Designer Series Paper that is backed with a piece of card stock to keep it sturdy. Around the bottom is some Gold Bakers Twine and the panel is adhered to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The large heart in the upper left is a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. All of the stamped images are from the Language of Love Stamp Set and are stamped in Calypso Coral. The banner is cut out with the Banner Framelits Dies, the large stamped heart is punched out with the Full Heart Punch and the small hearts along the right side are punched out with the Small Heart Punch and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The small heart in the middle is a piece of Calypso Coral cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies and embossed with the Adorning Accents Embossing Folder. My greeting is from the Best of Love Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with one of the dies from the Circle Card Thinlits. A fun collage style card that is bursting with love! Thanks so much for stopping by today!
