    Triple Starburst Birthday

Hi there! I think that Snowmageddon 2016 has finally come to an end. It snowed here all day and we got about 30 inches. 29 inches more than I care for! I think the worst part was the wind, you couldn’t even stand outside. Poor little Winston didn’t know what to do, the snow was way higher than him! Everyone was told to stay off the roads from 2:30pm yesterday until sometime this morning. The Long Island Rail Road along with Metro North and any above ground subways were also closed. I spent all day in the house watching moves and crafting. I did venture over to my parent’s for dinner, mum made the most delicious chicken soup! Today I will attempt to dig out my poor car, that should be loads of fun! Here is a picture of my parents backyard…

    Snowmageddon 2016

That was around 6:00 and it snowed for at least another 8 hours. I will say it again, I’m not a fan of Winter!

One of the cards that I made yesterday is today’s card, a nice masculine birthday card! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Black 110lb. For my background I used the Simon Says Stamp Falling Snow Background Stamp and heat embossed it on a piece of Smoky Slate with Ranger Silver Pearl Embossing Powder. It’s then adhered to the card with SNAIL and Fun Foam. My stars are cut out from some Basic Gray, Black 110lb and Bronze 80lb with the Spellbinders Shining Star Die. I ran it through twice, once to cut it out and then again with the Beige Embossing Mat. The bottom two are adhered with Multi-Matte Medium and the top bronze one with Foam Tape. My greeting is from the Lawn Fawn Let’s Bokeh Photopolymer Stamp Set and it’s stamped in Versa-Fine Onyx Black. I love that Silver Pearl Embossing Powder, it looks so cool on the Smoky Slate! I hope that you like today’s card! Thank you very much for stopping by, wish me luck on digging out! Have a Super Sunday! 🙂

    Freshly Made Sketches 220

Yay for Friday! The end of another busy week! I had a great time with my friend Sue yesterday! We had some bagels for lunch and then stopped in Marshall’s before heading back to her house to finish up some Etsy stuff! From there I headed over to Heather’s so I could take apart the old bed, which took no time at all! We ran to BJ’s to get some goodies for Thirsty Thursday and then went back to Heather’s to get ready for Kim and Stephanie to come over. We laughed and watched Lip Sync Battle, really enjoy that show! This morning it’s off to IKEA with Heather and Brian to pick up the new bed, back to Heather’s to drop it off and then into Manhattan to drop off the table and chairs to Kim’s. We are going to stop and get some lunch before heading back home. I’ll put the bed together and then come home and hopefully get crafty!

The card that I have to share with you today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

    Freshly Made Sketches 220

My card base is cut to 3 3/4″ wide so I could let some stuff hang off the edge and still fit it into a standard envelope! It’s the usual Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and I used the Simon Says Stamp Tiny Spaced Hearts Stencil along with some Candied Apple Distress Ink and my Mini Ink Blending Tool to create the nice subtle background. Up in the left corner is a piece of American Crafts Red Glitter Paper that I cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Sketch Heart Craft Die. I also cut out a piece of Solar White 80lb and used some Elmer’s Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive to adhered them to each other to make the heart a bit sturdier. A piece of Black 110lb is cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Scribble Heart and Arrow Wafer Die. I used some Versa-Mark and Simon Says Stamp Clear Fine Detail Embossing Powder to give it the Licorice look and adhered them both to the card with Multi-Matte Medium. My greeting is from the Simon Says Stamp Hand Lettered Encouragement Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Versa-Fine Onyx Black Ink next to the heart. Finally some Pretty Pink Posh Valentine Mix and Onyx Sequins are added for a little extra sparkle! I still love that Scribble Heart Die and it goes so well with the Arrow! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you for taking some time to come by and see me today! Have an absolutely Fantastic Friday! 🙂

Happy Hump Day peeps! I enjoyed my day yesterday! I FaceTimed with Andrea in the morning and then around 10:40 I headed over to see my friend Sue. We got caught up and then worked on some Easy stuff before heading to our favorite place for lunch, Panera! I had my usual Tomato Soup and a Grilled Cheese, YUM! After that we ran back to my house to pick up some more stuff for Etsy. I showed Sue some of the Taylor Swift Concert on Apple Music, she is a big Taylor Swift fan and loved it. I came back home around 5:00 and got my stuff together so I could head into Manhattan. When I got to the train station I found out that the trains were not going into Penn Station but terminating at Jamaica so I had to take the E and then F Subways to get over to Kim. We went to Baker Street for dinner and had delicious salads and the came back to the apartment and I set up some of her new electronic goodies! This morning I’m waiting for the TimeWarner man and then I’ll stop by and see Isabella before heading back out to the Island.

Hmm… Wednesday, that means that today is another Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

    PCCCS178 DT Sketch 1-20-2016

Nice and simple! The card base for today is Neenah Solar White 110lb Crd Stock with the front covered in a piece of Black 110lb. For my background I stamped the Hero Arts Pearl Strings Bold Prints Background Stamp that Renee brought me back from CHA in Simon Says Stamp Cloudy Sky Ink on Solar White 80lb and adhered it to the card with Fun Foam SNAIL. Across the middle is a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper and Black 110lb. My greeting is from the Concord & 9th Being Classy Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the Thoughtful in Simon Says Stamp Scuba Ink using my MISTI so I could double stamp it to make sure that it was nice and dark! It’s cut out with the Coordinating Being Classy Dies and adhered to the strips with Multi-Matte Medium. The so is stamped in Versa-Fine Onyx Black directly onto the background. Another piece of Black 110lb is cut out with the Lawn Fawn Heart Stackables Lawn Cuts with a small red punched heart in the middle. A piece of Hemptique Black & White Baker’s Twine tied in a bow is then adhered to the small heart with a Mini Glue Dot. I love that nice bold greeting paired with the cool background! I hope that you enjoy my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge! Stop by the blog and check out the rest of the Team’s cards and enter yours in the gallery! Thank you so much for spending some time with me today! Have a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

This morning I have to take a table and chairs over to Heather’s and then we are going to head into Manhattan to meet up with my friends Kim and Maggie for breakfast. After that a quick stop at The Ink Pad before heading back out the Island. Fingers crossed for no traffic! LOL!

Today’s card is a simple thank you that took no time at all to put together! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I flicked some Heidi Swapp Citron Color Shine on the front and picked out my patterned paper while it dried. The papers are from the Heidi Swapp September Skies 6×6 Paper Pad. A strip is adhered across the the middle, another square is adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL and finally a piece is cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Petite Butterflies Craft Dies and adhered to the square with Scor-Tape. Freshly Made Sketches 219

Another nice and simple one! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I took a piece of Smoky Slate and adhered a piece of paper from the DoodleBug Polar Pals 6×6 Paper Pad on the left and then stamped some snowflakes from the Simon Says Stamp Cute Snowflakes Photopolymer Stamp Set in Simon Says Stamp Smoke Ink on the right. Some SNAIL adheres the panel to the card. The main panel is a piece of Solar White 80lb, I cut out two pieces of it with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles. The second piece is then cut with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Slopes and Hills Craft Dies. I adhered a sticker from the DoodleBig Polars Pals Icons Cardstock Stickers to the rectangle and then adhered the hill to it with Foam Tape. The penguin and snowflake are also form the same stickers and are adhered to the card with Foam Tape and SNAIL. My greeting is also from the Cute Snowflakes Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Smoke Ink too. I adhered the panel to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. A few Pretty Pink Posh Aquamarine, Amethyst and Marshmallow Sequins finish the card! I really do like the DoodleBug Polars Pals goodies a lot, I think that it’s the awesome combination of colors and the cute stickers don’t hurt either! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you so much for your visit and I wish you all a spectacular Saturday! 🙂

Again… way too cold for me! It was incredibly windy here yesterday, like gale force wind which made it even colder! Nope, not for me! I was at Scrap-A-Latte all day and I spoke to Michael, FaceTimed with Andrea, got a visit from my friend Paul, I even got to see Angie before her class. When I got to my parent’s Daniel was still there so I got see him for a bit and had some dinner. I came home and made a quick card before heading over to Heather’s to help her with some computer stuff. We did a quick Target run and watched some YouTube videos while waited for the Mac to update. A very good day indeed!

My quick card that I made is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

    PCCCS177 DT Sketch 1-13-2016

I mentioned that I got some new goodies from Stampin’ Up! and they helped me create today’s card! The base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used the Labels Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of paper from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack. Across that is a piece of Basic Black that I embossed with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered it to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. My greeting and flower are from the Picture Perfect Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the greeting in Versa-Fine Onyx Black Ink on a piece of Solar White 80lb and flagged the ends before adhering it to the black with Foam Tape. The rose is stamped in Blushing Bride, Strawberry Slush and Smoky Slate, the leaves in Pear Pizzaz, Always Artichoke and Mossy Meadow, they are all cut out with my Paper Snips and adhered to the card with more Foam Tape. A few Pretty Pink Posh Onyx and one big Sparkling Clear Sequin complete the card. I love the way all of the black really makes the rose pop! I also love the shading that the Smoky Slate gives to the rose! I hope that you like my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge! Don’t forget to check out the blog and see what the rest of the Team has done! Thank you so much for visiting with me today! Have a wicked Wednesday! 🙂

    SIP Challenge 30 – Colors!

It was way too cold for me here yesterday, 32?! Nope, too cold! I was at Scrap-A-Latte all day and I even made a little card with some scraps. Sandy stopped by to see me for a little while and I spoke to Renee who was busy meeting with people and running around CHA! I got home around 7:20 and ate some chili from mum. I got an order from Stampin’ Up! yesterday too, can’t wait to play with some of those new goodies! I’m back at Scrap-A-Latte again today, everything in the store is 20% off and all patterned paper and embellishments are 40% off, Renee needs to make some room for the new stuff that is coming! I also have somewhat of a big milestone coming up on Friday, I’ll tell you more about that then!

Tuesday and it’s time for another Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge, this week we have some colors for you to work with…

    SIP 30 Color Challenge 800

I made a fun card using a bunch of die cuts layered together! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles to cut out a piece of Rose Red. Another piece of Rose Red is cut out with the Calliope Flourish Craft Die and adhered to the card with Multi-Matte Medium. Some Gold Foil Sheet is cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Ariana Wreath and Leanna Butterfly. I adhered the wreath with Multi-Matte Medium and the butterfly with a piece of Kool Tak Clear Foam Tape. Mojo Monday 430

Thanks for the feedback on the new blog design! I appreciate your comments! The biggest complaint was the header scrolling down and covering up some of the page so I have changed it so that it stays at the top! I hope that makes it easier for the mobile devices! Yesterday it rained all day so I was crafty in the morning! Best kind of day to do that! Around noon my friend Maureen came by and picked me up, we went to McDonald’s for lunch. I haven’t had McDonald’s in years! From there it was off to Stop & Shop to do some grocery shopping. We dropped them off at her house and then came back to my house and took down the Christmas tree. I kept it up as long as I could! LOL! After we finished with that we watched Juno, I forgot how funny that movie was! She left around 5:00 and I went and had some dinner. Back home to Skype with Eva for a bit and that was my Sunday! I’ll be over at Scrap-A-Latte for the day today and tomorrow, Renee will be back on Wednesday with loads of info from CHA!

What better way to start another week than with a new Mojo Monday sketch?! Here is this week’s…

    Mojo430

I used one of my favorite sets from Simon that now has coordinating dies! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. All of the images and greetings are from the Simon Says Stamp I See You Photopolymer Stamp Set. I heat embossed the heart on a piece of Real Red with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with the coordinating die. The panel down the left side is a piece of paper form the PinkFresh Studios Christmas Wishes 6×6 Paper Pad. I adhered it to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL tucking the heart under it. Across the top is a piece of Real Red with the left side flagged. I heat embossed the i see you in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder and adhered it to the card with SNAIL and more Fun Foam. The speech bubble is stamped in Simon Says Stamp Cloudy Sky Ink and cut out with the coordinating die, some Foam Tape holds it in place. The Vellum square has the greeting heat embossed again in Hero Arts White. My glasses are heat embossed in more Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Black 110lb and along with the ampersand which is stamped in Versa-Fine Onyx Black, are both cut out with the coordinating dies and adhered to the vellum with Foam Tape. I hid the adhesive behind the glasses to adhere the vellum to  the card. A few Pretty Pink Posh Gold and Red Sequins complete the card! I really do love that set, especially the glasses and heart! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge! Stop by the blog and check out the rest of the Team’s cards and enter yours in the gallery! Winter Jingle Birthday

So… you may notice that the blog looks a little different today?! Well, I finally got some time to play around with the new template that I got oh so long ago and I started to get it set up! There are still some things that I need to figure out but it’s functional and that’s all I can hope for for the time being! LOL! When you come to the home page by typing jkcardsonline.com into your browser you will get the new and improved home page! The first thing that you should see are the last three posts and under that is my little about me blurb and at the bottom is the store. If you have any issues with the site please let me know in the comments! I appreciate it!

Yesterday I was very productive and crafty! I got a bunch of cards made in the morning and then I headed over to Scrap-A-Latte in the afternoon to drop off the samples for next week’s class. Renee is away at CHA and Angie was minding the store, her hubby was there so we chatted for a bit. They both found out what a fountain of useless information I am, Marty was doing a crossword and asking for answers, I had them! LOL! I came home briefly and then stopped by my friend Maureen’s for a bit. Her son and his friend were painting the bathroom, such a fun smell! From there I came home and worked on my card for today and fiddled around with the blog.

Speaking of my card, it’s a nice simple birthday one for today! The base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. My background is a piece of paper from the Doodlebug Polar Pals 6×6 Paper Pad. I used the Simon Says Stamp Jingle Snowflakes Craft Die to cut out three pieces of Solar White 80lb and adhered them to each other and the card with Elmer’s Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive. Along the bottom is a thin strip of Gold Glimmer Paper and a strip of White that I stamped my greeting from the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Messages Photopolymer Stamp Set in Simon Says Stamp Surf Blue Ink. A few Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins around the die cut finish the card. I do love the simplicity of the card and that die cut is just cool! Get it, snowflakes, cool! LOL! I hope that you enjoyed my card for today! Thanks so much for stopping by and let me know what you think of the new blog design! Have a super duper Sunday! 🙂

I am so not enjoying this colder weather! It was 14 degrees this morning, that’s just not necessary! I thought that my favorite feature of my car was the convertible part but the heated seats are running a close second! How many more days until Spring?! I had a somewhat productive day, I crafted and looked into finally updating my blog to the look that I actually moved it for over a year ago! Sometimes that backend stuff is a little complicated and you need to step away from it for a little… well… long time and go back and take another look! Hopefully by the end of the week the new look will be up barring any new snags! I got to see little Daniel for a bit too and Taylor graced me with her presence for a short visit! I ran out last night to get gas and it was far too cold for me to do anything else, I couldn’t wait to get back into the warm house! Today I’ll be going over to see my friend Sue! Love spending time with her!

My card for today is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

    PCCCS176 DT Sketch 1-06-2016

I played with some more Concord & 9th goodies on today’s card, loving them! The base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. Down the left side is a piece of Scotch Black Glitter Washi Tape and some Ruler Washi Tape. I used an old Stampin’ Up! sunburst stencil and some Simon Says Stamp Goldenlocks Ink with a Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool to create the circle. It’s cut out with a Sizzix Circles Framelit and adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. The lightbulb and greeting are from the Concord & 9th Shine Brighter Photopolymer Stamp Set. I heat embossed the light bulb on Vellum using Hero Arts White Embossing Powder and Ranger Liquid Platinum for the filament. The base is more Liquid Platinum embossed on Brushed Silver. They are both cut out with the coordinating Shine Brighter Dies. I used Multi-Matte Medium to adhere the bulb and SNAIL for the base. My greeting is heat embossed on a piece of Black 110lb with more Hero Arts White and also cut out with the Sizzix Circles. I added a few Wood Veneer Stars around the greeting and some Pretty Pink Posh Onyx and Sparkling Clear Sequins to finish the card. Yes, I am a little obsessed with that Black Glitter Washi and the sequins, well we all know how I feel about those! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Sketch challenge! Stop by the blog and check out the rest of the Team’s cards!
