Mojo 353

Only today and tomorrow left at work. It’s a good thing too because work was a little irritating today. Sometimes it’s nice to be appreciated for the things that you do that aren’t your job (which encompasses most of my day) and I do a lot of those. Needless to say today I had one of the unappreciated moments. Like I said, two days left! Luckily I didn’t have much going on last night so I was able to have my craft therapy for a good 3 hours! Heather stopped by around 10:00 for a bit and I was up way too late again, oh well! LOL! How is your week going?

One of the cards that I made last night is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Mojo353

That Julee Tilman comes up with some really great sketches! I used one of my favorite stamp sets from the new catalog, one of the images that I haven’t used yet! My card for today starts off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock and the background is a piece of Blackberry Bliss that I embossed with the Large Polka Dot Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next up is a piece of Gold Foil Sheet. The strip of paper going down the right is from the Back to Black Designer Series Paper Pack and I used some more Gold Foil Sheet that I punched with the Scallop Edge Punch along the right side. For the square I used the Squares Collection Framelits and my little marker trick with the Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write Marker. I ran it though the Big Shot again with the Circles Collection Framelits to notch out the lower right corner. The flowers on the square and the greeting are from the A Happy Hooray Stamp Set and are stamped in Blackberry Bliss. I punched the greeting out with the 1 3/8″ Circle Punch and tucked it into the square. I like the way it lets what’s behind it peek through and the Back to Black DSP is great! I do hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge and thank you very much for spending some time with me today! Enjoy your Thursday and I’ll see you back here tomorrow for my favorite day of the week! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 210

That seemed like a long Monday to me! I am very achey and that’s probably why. Work was pretty good, not a lot going on. I did get to see little Daniel for a bit, he does like a selfie! I can’t stand how cute he is!

Daniel & I 7-07-2014

I love the way he holds on to my necklace, thankfully it’s a strong chain! LOL! I also had card class last night and it’s always good to see everyone. My friend Melissa came and brought Dunkin’ Donut Munchkins, of which I had twelve! They were so good I just couldn’t stop! LOL! The blueberry cake ones are the best!

Speaking of my Pals card this week they have a great color challenge…

PPA 210

Love the blues with the gray! It’s been a little while since I used a tag and a few days since I used the Star Framelits! LOL! My card starts off with a base of Basic Gray Card Stock. The background is a piece of paper from the Flashback Designer Series Paper Pack. A strip of Poll Party goes across the lower half of the card and I used the Argyle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on it, it matches the DSP so well! The tag is Very Vanilla and made with the Angled Tag Topper Punch. The larger stars are Lost Lagoon, I heat embossed the greeting from the Be the Star Stamp Set in Pool Party on the largest star. The smaller ones have the middles punched out with the star from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and then are cut out with the Star Framelits. A few more stars are punched out from Silver Glimmer Paper. Some Multi-Purpose Glue holds the smaller stars in place and Stampin’ Dimensionals for the large star and the tag. A piece of “Vintage” Pool Party Thick Baker’s Twine is tied through the hole in the tag and a few dots of Multi-Purpose Glue hold the loose ends in place. I really do love the colors, blues are definitely my favorite and the DSP is great! I hope you enjoyed my late night card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. Thanks for checking in and enjoy your Tuesday! 🙂

Creation Station Tour – Confetti

creation station header

Hello everyone! I had a very nice afternoon in Manhattan yesterday! I will fill you in on all of it tomorrow, including some fun pictures, but today it’s time for the Creation Station Blog Tour! I’m hoping that you have been along for our previous ones! I f this is your first time here welcome and I hope that you find inspiration in the projects. This time around we are featuring the Dotty Angles Photopolymer Stamp Set, Confetti and Coaster Board. If you are following the tour you have arrived here from Deborah Smart’s blog, now those were some great projects! I have two projects for you today. Normally I would have taken pictures of the steps to make the projects but with my moving and unpacking distracting me I forgot! I hope that the descriptions are good enough for this time!

First up I have a fun card for you and it starts off with a base of Hello Honey Card Stock. I stamped my greeting from the Hi There Stamp Set, stamped in Bermuda Bay and the stamp from the Dotty Angles Stamp Set stamped across the top in the same color. Before adhering the background I adhered a piece of Bermuda Bay for a nice double border. I used my Stampin’ Trimmer and the Squares Collection Framelits to cut a piece of Whisper White in the form of a Polaroid Frame. I adhered a piece of Window Sheet to the back and used the excess sides from the Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop it up and make a holder for my confetti. The confetti is simply Bermuda Bay and Hello Honey Card Stock that I punched out with the 1/4″ Circle Punch. I adhered the Polaroid to the card to create the shaker frame. A piece of Hello Honey cut out with the Squares Collection Framelits creates the border around the frame and a few extra punched out pieces are adhered next to the greeting. Sometimes when you need some confetti a few simple punched out circles are a good thing to use. A fun card that is sure to brighten anyone’s day!

Creation Station Card Tour 5-WM

My final project for today uses Coaster Board. I was sitting there wondering what to do when I thought, I wonder if you can watercolor Coaster Board? I got out my Flower Frenzy Bigz L Die and cut out some and went to work with my Aqua Painter. I used Crisp Cantaloupe for the base flower, Calypso Coral for the next layer and Tangerine Tango for the top. My middle uses Crushed Curry and Daffodil Delight. While the Coaster Board was drying I used my fingers to shape the petals a little. The leaves are painted with some Pear Pizzaz and adhered to the Soft Sky Background with Multi-Purpose Glue. The main pieces of the flower are all adhered to each other and the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals . A Mini Glue Dot holds the top piece in place and some Basic Jewels Pearls complete the flower. My greeting is from the Tag Talk Stamp Set and is stamped in Calypso Coral and also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I decided that a shadow box frame that I picked up from HomeGoods would be a perfect way to display the project. I love the color variation in the Coaster Board when it’s watercolored! Such a cool effect don’t you think?!

So there are my projects for the Creation Station Blog Tour! Like I said earlier, I hope that you are inspired and that you will give the Coaster Board and watercoloring a try. Your next stop on the tour is Jen Arkfeld! She always has some amazing stuff! Thank you for coming by to see my projects and enjoy the rest of the tour and have a wonderful Sunday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 143 and a Quilt!

I had a very busy day yesterday! Busy but in a good way! I was up quite late on Thursday night, my friend Heather stopped by at 12:30AM with a large bottle of wine that needed finishing, I had to help her! I got up yesterday morning a lot later than I usually do and got right to organizing and putting stuff away. Andrew came by around 1:00PM with pizza for lunch, just when you think he can’t get any better! He helped me put up shelves and pictures, organize and put away more stuff. I feel very accomplished and that makes me very happy! I watched a movie last night, Non-Stop with Liam Neeson, a very good but tense movie. Those are fun sometimes aren’t they?! This morning I have a lot on my list too. I need to see if I can get the rest of my stuff out of the old apartment and work on some projects for tomorrow’s Creation Station Blog Tour. I’m also going to head into Manhattan around 2:00Pm to meet up with my friend Kim. Satellite Lane has a proposal to do in Central Park and we are going to go and see that. After Andrew, Kim and I are going to go and have some dinner and drinks! A busy day, I hope I can get it all done!

One of the best parts of my blog is getting to know some of you through comments and emails. A very sweet friend of mine, Grace, shares some pictures with me from time to time. The other day she sent me a picture of a quilt that she had made. I was amazed at how beautiful it is! I know some people that quilt and it’s not easy work. I asked her if I could share the picture with you and she graciously said yes! Here it is in all it’s glory…

Log Cabin Quilt-WM

Isn’t it gorgeous! Great colors and patterns! Thank you Grace for letting me share your beautiful creation!

One more thing before I get to today’s card. Someone had asked me the other day what I call my craft space. I don’t have a name for it. I thought it would be fun to get suggestions from you! You guys always have such inventive ways to describe things. I posted a picture of it the other day and you can see it HERE. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think it should be called!

Now on to today’s card which is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Cindy L….

Freshly Made Sketches #143

I love the layout! So many possibilities! I used some Crumb Cake Card Stock for the base of the card. The stars are created with the Hearts & Stars Mask, a Sponge Dauber and Crumb Cake Ink. A strip of paper from the Confetti Celebration Designer Series Paper Pack goes across the bottom. Next up I cutout a piece of Bermuda Bay with two of the Circles Collection Framelits. A piece of Vellum Card Stock is also cut out and adhered behind the circle with Multi-Purpose Glue and a little more glue adheres it to the card. A strip of Pistachio Pudding and a one of Basic Gray, with the right side flagged, are mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals on top of the Designer Series Paper. My greeting is from the Hi There Stamp Set and is stamped in Tangelo Twist and punched out with the 3/4″ Circle Punch. To add a little sparkle I adhered three Pistachio Pudding 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins to the vellum circle. The masked stars are a fun addition to the background and I love those sequins! Thanks for taking a little time out of your busy day to come by and visit with me to see my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. You all make my days better! Don’t forget to let me know what my stamp space should be called by leaving a comment. I hope that you also enjoyed Grace’s quilt as much as I did! Have a wonderful Saturday! 🙂

Fab Friday 45 and a Word from Andrew

I have to say that today was a very good day at work for me. I ended up having to do my monthly delivery today so I was gone for 2 hours. Came back, did a little work, and then was released at 3 PM. Sounds like parole… because it is. LOL! After work, Andrew came by to help me move some stuff (yes, still!). When we reached the old apartment, it was approximately 115º, a definite thing that I will not be missing about living on the second floor. We got a lot more stuff moved, had some dinner and organized some more. And now Andrew would like to have a word with you…

Hey folks! I [obviously] read Justin’s blog every day and I’m flattered to be mentioned quite often. I’m even more flattered though that you all take an interest in my life and well-being. It brought a big smile to my face to see all your birthday wishes yesterday, so thank you all so much! And don’t worry, Justin will be taking me to dinner very soon! LOL! Also, when I got to his house this afternoon, he had a birthday card for me! Surprise! Here it is in all it’s glory…

Andrew's Bday Card-WM

I was quite impressed with the card as I always am with Justin’s work, but I really like the 3D look of the skyline and my Clark Kent-looking hair. LOL! The card is currently hanging in my living room with the rest of my birthday cards, but we all know which ones shines the brightest, don’t we?!

So thank you all once again, I really appreciate it. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming…

Today’s a good Friday because it’s the other Friday and I’m over on the Fab Friday blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

Fab Fri 45 7-04-2014

I just so happened to get a new box of goodies yesterday and used three of them on today’s card. My card starts off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock and my background is a piece of Flashback Designer Series Paper. I embossed a strip of Crushed Curry with the Zig Zag Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. On top of that is a piece of Real Red that I punched out using the Angled Tag Topper Punch to make the tag. I thought it needed a little something more so I used the Eclectic Paper Piercing Pack to pierce around the edge. The greeting/image is from the Well Worded Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Very Vanilla and cut out with the Mustache Framelits Die. A simple, fun, retro card that’s great for when you don’t have a lot of time (moving/sorting… will it ever end?!). Make sure you head on over to the Fab Friday blog to see the rest of the Design Team projects for this week’s sketch. I would love to see what you do with the sketch, so upload your card to the gallery for us! A great big thank you from both Andrew and I. You always put a smile on our faces! Have a happy and safe 4th of July! 🙂

Mojo 352

The best thing about today is that it’s Friday, well, actually as far as the week is concerned it’s Thursday but as the work week it’s my Friday! Work yesterday was really busy but I did get a lot accomplished. I came home and had some dinner and then ran over to the old apartment to get some more stuff. I have to have it all out of there by Friday, where I’m going to put it is another story! I need a storage unit, or to thin out some more stuff. I think I’ll go with the latter! I also had a nice long phone call with my friend Danielle, love when you can talk on the phone for 1 1/2 hours and there isn’t even a pause! Do you have any big plans for the 4th? It’s supposed to rain here, which Winston will be very happy about, he hates fireworks and it was like Beruit here last year. I might have plans and I might not, either way I’m good!

My craft therapy last night resulted in my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch from Julee Tilman…

Mojo352

Another tall & skinny sketch!! Yeah! Love them! My card begins with a base of Lost Lagoon Card Stock and the background is just a plain piece of Smoky Slate. The strip of paper is from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. I’m loving that Stack but as of tomorrow I have an order coming so I will have more options! Next up is a piece of Basic Gray that I embossed with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My star is from the Be the Star Stamp Set and is stamped in Lost Lagoon and cut out with the Stars Framelits. For the greeting I used the Lots of Thanks Stamp Set, again stamped in Lost Lagoon and cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. Before I popped it out I ran my Lost Lagoon Stampin’ Write Marker around the inside. I think it gives it a nice border. Finally I cut out a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper with the Stars Framelits and punched the center out with the star from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold all of the elements to the card. My favorite part of today’s card is the circle around the greeting, simple yet effective. I can;t believe I never thought to do it before! I hope that you enjoyed my Mojo Monday card for this week’s sketch. I always appreciate your visits and love reading your comments. Sorry I have been replying so late in the day! Thank you! Have a great Thursday! 🙂

Paper Players 202

Moving continues. The first half of today was spent unpacking and organizing. I had a nice lunchtime surprise visit from my friend Kim and the munchkins. Kim bought my favorite veggie tuna wrap from the local deli and I smothered it in hot sauce. A delicious lunch and a welcome break. After lunch, I headed back to the old place to get more stuff, brought it back to the new house and repeated the morning’s tasks. Andrew came by in the evening to help bring more stuff back over and I got a phone call from my friend Brian who I haven’t seen in 3 and a half years, so we met at Starbucks for a little bit. Another welcome break! LOL! I finished off the evening with more unpacking and organizing, with help it always goes faster! Not a very exciting day, but at least I was productive!

Luckily though, I found some time in the day to make a card! That card is for this week’s Paper Players Tic-Tac-Toe challenge from my friend Sandy…

Paper Players #202

I don’t know if you remember or not, but I’m a big fan of the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge, and there was a time that I did every box on the square. This time I opted for 7 of the 9. LOL! The base of my card is a simple piece of Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Soft Sky that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The main panel is another piece of Whisper White and I stamped the leaves from the Choose Happiness Stamp Set in Mossy Meadow and the greeting is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement. I used the “Vintage” Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack to notch out the two half circles on either side of the panel and tied a piece of Linen Thread in the notched out parts. The flower is from the Beautiful Bunch Stamp Set, I stamped it once in Strawberry Slush and again in Daffodil Delight so I could cut out the center. I curled the petals and then used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere both pieces to each other and the card. To get in my seventh box, I strategically placed some Basic Jewels Rhinestones around the card. I’m a huge fan of the way the Woodgrain Embossing Folder looks with any kind of floral image. I think it gives it a rustic, natural look. So there you have my card for the Paper Players Tic-Tac-Toe challenge from Sandy. And let’s not forget, this is a special card because it is the first one to come out of my new creative space! I hope you enjoyed the card, that you had a good weekend and a fun week ahead. Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂

So Very Happy Owl

Hello my friends! I am very happy to report that the move went extremely well! Fred showed up at 8:00 and Andrew at 8:20, with Starbucks!! We got right to work and about 80% of my stuff is at the new place. Fred had to leave at 3:30 and Andrew was going to leave at 5:30, he had a BBQ to go to. He said that he didn’t want to leave me here to set up by myself and he stayed until 8:30. I always say how awesome he is and I love it when he proves me right! I couldn’t have done any of this without him and Fred! I’m so incredibly lucky to have the amazing friends that I have and am happy to sing their praises! Andrew will be back over later to help finish up and I’m going to see what I can get accomplished in the new craft space this morning! Speaking of the new craft space since it’s mostly set up I thought I would share a picture of it…

Craft Space Hahn

You can see that it’s a cozy space in a walk in closet of the living room. You can also see the color of the living room, and nice almost Coastal Cabana! I wanted something bright and cheery and I think I got it. Yes the shelves are filled with Stamp Sets, when I say that I have an addiction I don’t tell lies! LOL! I’m looking forward to getting in there and making something! The fireworks were going off again last night and little Winston was scared but he stayed still long enough for a little picture too…

Winston

Now on to today’s card which I actually made a while ago. It was a just for fun card because I wanted to use the Owl Builder Punch! I haven’t used it ages to make an actual owl! The card begins with a base of Real Red Card Stock and the background is a piece of Whisper White that I stamped with the Dictionary Background Stamp in Bermuda Bay. Next up is a piece of “Vintage” Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper. The final layer is a piece of Whisper White that I drew a notebook page on with my Pool Party and Real Red Stampin’ Write Markers. All of the corners are rounded with the “Vintage” 3/16″ Corner Rounder. The owl is punched out with the Owl Builder Punch, his body is Smoky Slate, his eyes are Whisper White, Pool Party and Basic Black and his vest is another piece of Kaleidoscope DSP. The greeting is from the So Very Happy Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and cut out with the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits. A piece of Pool Party is flagged and adhered behind it. The Owl and the greeting are mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A happy birthday card that uses some of my favorite Designer Series Paper ever, Kaleidoscope! I hope that you enjoyed the pictures and the card for today. Thanks so much for sharing in my day and I hope that you have a great Sunday! 🙂

Groovy Pictogram Hive Love

Well, it’s here, Saturday or as it’s known to me the big moving day. I was so tired at work yesterday that I think I dozed off at my desk for a few minutes a few times! Oops! The graduation was packed last night and the way they had it set up you couldn’t get close enough to take a picture. But I do have this picture of my Brother and little Daniel.

Jason & Daniel

As you can see I am clearly the better looking one out of the two of us! LOL! But seriously, I can’t stand how cute that little guy is! So back to today, Fred will be here at 8:00 and Andrew… well… Andrew is not a morning person but I have hope that he will be here early! My goal is to get almost everything else over there, Fred would like to be finished. I will let you know what happens tomorrow! The most important thing is to set up my new craft space, I have a few ideas as to what I’m going to do and you’ll see them soon.

So when I got home last night I decided to make a card that has been floating around in my head for a while. I just wasn’t sure what colors I wanted to use. Well I finally decided so out it came and here it is. The base of the card is Real Red Card Stock. My background is a piece of Hello Honey. I cut out some Baked Brown Sugar with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit and then cut out a piece of that with the Circles Collection Framelits. Some 2-Way Glue and SNAIL adhere it to the background. My greeting is form the Pictogram Punches Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red. I adhered the panel to my card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The heart is from the Groovy Love Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red and punched out with the Sweetheart Punch. I used the What’s Up punch and some Gold Foil Sheet to punch out an arrow, cut in half and adhered it behind the heart and then Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the heart to the card. Some more Gold Foil Sheet is punched out with the heart from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and adhered in the middle of the greeting. Finally I adhered a few 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins, the Baked Brown Sugar hearts to be exact, on the hive to finish off the card. A somewhat bold color combination but I really like it! You’ll have to let me know what you think of it in the comments! Thanks for sharing a little time with me today and I hope that you have a stress free Saturday! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 99

Things are chugging right along here. Thankfully it’s Wednesday and we are halfway through one of the busiest weeks I’ve had in a long time. From now on when I say I’m busy (with crafty things), I’ll appreciate it more. LOL! It was another nice day here today. Work was work, as usual. Our favorite moving assistant Andrew was back over last night and more boxes were packed, papers shredded, and purging accomplished. I started to pack up my stamp sets. They have so far filled 2 36-gallon totes. I think I may have a problem. If you may suffer from the same problem, call 1-800-2MNYSTMPS. LOL! On an even sadder note, there’s probably another full 36-gallon tote to be filled.

It’s Wednesday, and that means that I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

PCCCS099 6-25-2014

An interesting sketch, don’t you think? For my card I started off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack on the top and to keep it simple, a plain of piece of Blushing Bride on the bottom. To hide the seam, I stamped a piece of Baked Brown Sugar with the Draw the Line Photopolymer Stamp Set in Baked Brown Sugar. The greeting on the center panel is from the Age Awareness Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo on Whisper White and backed with a piece of Blushing Bride. The “Celebrate You” and cupcake both come from the Cupcake Party Stamp Set. The “Celebrate You” Is stamped in Island Indigo and cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits. The cupcake is stamped in Blushing Bride and Baked Brown Sugar and punched out with the Cupcake Builder Punch. To finish off the card I punched out a piece of Island Indigo with the 1″ Circle Punch and adhered 3 stars from the 2013-2015 In-Color Sequin Assortment. All of the elements on the card are propped up using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I like the way that the greetings from the Age Awareness and Cupcake Party Stamp Sets coordinate. It makes for easy stamp set collaboration. Not to mention, I really like the font. And there you have my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Take a little time and head on over to the blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has done with the sketch and don’t forget to enter your card in the gallery!
