Splitcoast Creative Crew

Monday, Monday… back so soon I see! How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was pretty good. I didn’t get all of my projects done but I did get most of them. The weather was very nice here yesterday and I can sense the extra minutes of daylight we are getting each day on way back to glorious spring!

Today I’m posting two cards that I made for the Creative Crew over on Splitcoast. They kindly asked me if I would be a part of the crew for the next four months and I happily agreed. You can visit the challenge gallery here and upload your own cards. They also have a scrapbook challenge which I didn’t do this month but I will give a go next month!

My first card is all about Designer Series Paper. The challenge is to use a favorite designer series paper and convince you to love it too. The base of the card is Not Quite Navy Card Stock and the background is a simple piece of Very Vanilla. The vest is made from Parker’s Patterns Designer Series Paper. It is just a rectangle that I cut a “v” in and used the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch to make the arm holes. The bowtie is from the Dapper Dad Stamp Set and is stamped in Sahara Sand and the greeting is form the the Apothecary Art Stamp Set and is stamped in Not Quite Navy. What vest would be complete without some Naturals Designer Buttons?! It’s a really simple card and would also make a great Father’s Day card. I really do love the DSP, it’s got some nice masculine patterns and bold colors in it too!

The second card is all about SIP… stamps, ink and paper and that’s all I used on it. The base of the card is Rose Red Card Stock. Across the lower half is a piece of Very Vanilla that I stamped with the chevron stamps from the Oh, Hello Stamp Set in Rose Red and Pretty in Pink. The main panels also has images stamped from the Oh, Hello Stamp Set. The flowers are stamped in Rose Red and Pretty in Pink and the greeting in Rose Red. I backed it wait a piece of Pretty in Pink before adhering it to the card with SNAIL. Super simple, no Big Shot, no Punches just SIP!

Paper Players #127 :-)

A very good Sunday morning to you all! I had a nice day yesterday. Taylor and I both got much needed haircuts, we went to lunch with my friend Louis at Panera (a favorite of mine). After lunch went to MJM Shoes and Taylor and I both got Vans sneakers for $12.99! The bargains didn’t stop there, I went to the Gap later on with my friend Heather and got jeans for $11.59 and a winter coat for $35.68! I love a good bargain!

Today is an especially good day for me as I start my Guest Designer term with the Paper Players! I have been playing along with them for over a while and have enjoyed every one of their challenges. They are a talented group and I always look forward to seeing what wonderful creations they come up with. For the first challenge of the New Year Ann has given us a “Love is in the Air” challenge…

A great challenge to give you a head start on your Valentine’s cards! And who doesn’t like a little romance?!?! My card starts off with a base of Pool Party Card Stock that I stamped in Pool Party with the Netting Background Stamp. Across the bottom is a piece of Primrose Petals that I embossed with the Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. For the top I used the Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set and Hearts a Flutter Framelits that I used to cut out the flags that are stamped in Primrose Petals. The greeting is from the Delightful Dozen Stamp Set and is also stamped in Primrose Petals and I cut it out with the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. In the middle of the card is a piece of Real Red that I cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. The edge is pierced using the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. On top of that is a piece of Pool Party that I cut out with the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit and The heart image on top of that is also from the Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set and is stamped in Primrose Petals and cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. I mounted it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the final piece I used the Pinwheel Sizzlits Die to cut out a piece of More Amore Specialty Designer Series paper and a 1/8″ Silver Mini Brad to hold it together. A Stampin’ Dimensionals adheres it to the card. I love all of the new products from the 2013 Spring Catalog and they go so well with the items from the 2012-2013 Annual Catalog. I’m not even going to say it, I say it every week. Oh, well, maybe just once… it’s FRIDAY! Woo hoo! LOL! I’m sure that most of you feel the same way about Friday as I do. It was a short week but seemed long for some reason. I’m looking forward to finishing up a lot of outstanding projects this weekend. My second 2013 Spring Catalog order will be here later with some more goodies form the Clearance Rack, I’m looking forward to playing with them too. I also got myself a new toy for Christmas and I haven’t gotten to use it yet but I will this weekend. I’ll tell you more about that when I get some stuff done with it. Ahh, I love crafting, does it show?!?!

Now for today’s post which is for my friends over at Create with Connie and Mary. This week we have a cool sketch to work with…

Do you see it? A flag! 🙂 My card starts off with a base of Sahara Sand Card Stock that I stamped in Sahara Sand with the Netting Background Stamp. I find myself using Sahara Sand a lot more lately and I keep reaching for it instead of Crumb Cake for a neutral. The flagged piece of paper is from the Tea for Two Designer Series Paper Pack. My color choices are influenced by the little poem that is in the By the Tide Stamp Set. It says “Pink shells, white shells and shells colored blue; smooth shells, crinkled shells, old shells and new; striped shells and plain shells left by the tide; my shell is magic – the sea sings inside.” So I went with Pretty in Pink and Bashful Blue with some Sahara Sand to stamp the poem three times. I used the same colors for the shells and cut them out with my Paper Snips. They are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the greeting, that is stamped in Sahara Sand from the Made for You Stamp Set, is adhered with the same. I love the layout and who does’t like some sea shells. With a color change or a greeting change this would be a great birthday or thinking of you card. Freshly Made Sketchs #67

Happy Thursday! Thursday already, I do love a short week. Maybe we could petition to have every Tuesday off, might as well add Monday to that too! Ahh… I believe that’s what they call wishful thinking! LOL! How are you all doing today? I’m getting happier because we are almost at Friday. It was a quiet day yesterday, definitely on the frigid side! It’s supposed to be cold here for a couple more days. I really can’t wait for the warm weather. How is the weather by you? 🙂

Now for today’s post that is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. This week we have a sketch from Jennifer T….

When I saw the hearts on the sketch I of course immediately thought Valentine’s Day. I looked at it a little longer and decided not to go with that although the greeting does come from a Valentine’s set! The base of my card is Sahara Sand Card Stock. I cut the bottom edge off of a piece of Raspberry Ripple with the Large Scallop Edgelit Die. The greeting is stamped in Basic Black and is form the You Are Loved Stamp Set. A strip of Basic Black is adhered across under the greeting with some 2-Way Glue. The large image is stamped in Raspberry Ripple from the Quint-essntial Flower Single Wood Mount Stamp. I used the 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch to punch it out and adhered it to the card with SNAIL. The two circles are from the Circle Circus Stamp Set and are stamped in Basic Black and Sahara Sand. The black one is punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch and the sand one with the 3/4″ Circle Punch. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them in place. I thought about adding some pearls or rhinestones but I really like the simplicity of the card. I’m also loving the color combination! Mojo 274 & Sneak Peek

Happy 2013 everyone! I hope that you all had a very nice New Years Eve and that we all will have a safe, happy and prosperous New Year! I went to my friends Brian & Kim’s house and we watched Dick Clark’s Rockin’ Eve. Izzy and I had some hummus, I love when little ones eat stuff like hummus. It was a nice evening spent with some great friends, I can’t think of a better way to start the new year!

My first post of the for the New Year is my Mojo Monday card. This week we have a nice simple sketch from Carole Burrage…

A nice simple sketch deserves a nice simple card. The base of my card is Chocolate Chip Card Stock and the background is a simple piece of Marina Mist. The patterned paper is from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack*. I used the Needlepoint Border Textured Impressions Embossing Folder* along each edge and a Sponge Dauber with some Chocolate Chip Ink to make them stand out. A piece of Early Espresso 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon (Retired) is adhered around the back with Sticky Strip and another piece is knotted towards the top. The greeting is from the Cross My Heart Stamp Set and is stamped in Chocolate Chip. The butterflies, from the same set, are stamped in Marina Mist. I backed the circle with a piece of Chocolate Chip that I punched out with the 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch and mounted it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I think that best wishes is a good greeting to start off the New Year. I hope you enjoyed my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card and thank you very much for your first visit of 2013! Swallowtail Christmas Sneak Peek

Happy Saturday peeps! I’m off to Manhattan this morning and I’m taking the train in because of the snow they say we are going to get. The only good thing about the train is that I will get some reading done. I’m trying to get through the second Hunger Games book Catching Fire, I usually only get to read on the train and I haven’t been taking the train in a lot so it’s taking me a long time to get through it! Hopefully I can finish it today.

My post for today is the Christmas card and gift bag that I gave my mum. I have mentioned before that she is a big fan of butterflies. When I saw the Swallowtail* in the new 2013 Spring Catalog I knew I had to have it. The base of the card is Gumball Green Card Stock. I stamped the Swallowtail Stamp* in Raspberry Ripple on Raspberry Ripple Card Stock. I like that the stamp is so large that it goes off the card stock. The greeting is from the More Merry Messages Stamp Set and is stamped in Versa-Mark and heat embossed with some Gumball Green Stampin’ Emboss Powder. For the bag I used a small size white bag that I got from the craft store. I stamped the Swallowtail Stamp*, again in Raspberry Ripple on Whisper White Card Stock. The image is the same as the card but I stamped it in Gumball Green ink this time. My mum loved the card and gift bag. This is a great simple elegant card and could be used for so many occasions with a simple greeting change. I hope that you enjoyed the Swallowtail card and bag. FRIDAY! FRIDAY! FRIDAY! A very good Friday morning to you! I have finally recovered from all of the junk that I ate on Christmas day. I do love some chocolate and I made some Chocolate Walnut Fudge that was not bad if I do say myself! LOL! What are you all up to this weekend? I’m off to Manhattan tomorrow morning, I think I will be taking the train in because we are supposed to get some snow. Have mentioned before that I’m not a fan of the white stuff? I hope it will be minimal and gone fast.

For today’s post I have my Create with Connie and Mary Challenge card. I was one of their top three picks for last week! Thank you very much ladies! This week we have a color challenge…

Nice and cool colors and and some bling! I went with a Valentine’s theme for my card. The base is Whisper White Card Stock and for the background I embossed a piece of Pool Party with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I used the 1/2″ Circle Punch to “ticket” the corners and adhered it to the base with SNAIL. The main image is from the Love Heart Single Stamp and is stamped in Pool Party and punched out with the Full Heart Punch. Under that is a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper that I cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies*. The heart is adhered to the Glimmer Paper with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The larger heart under that is cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies and I used the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack* and Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce around the edge. The tickets are from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set* and are stamped in Pool Party and punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. For the smaller hearts I punched out some more Silver Glimmer Paper with the Small Heart Punch. All of the elements are adhered to the background with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the cool color combination and the ticket stamps are one of my favorites out of the Spring Catalog. I hope that you liked this week’s card for Create with Connie and Mary. Mojo 273 & Sneak Peek

Good day to you all! I do love a short work week, but then again, who doesn’t? I’m looking forward to this weekend and to another short work week next week too! The last two weeks of the year are the best! Do you all have some fun New Year’s Eve plans? I’m going with some friends to a another friends house, it should be fun. It’s so funny that I live so close to Manhattan yet I have no desire to go into Times Square for New Year’s. Must be the crowds that keep me away! I’m rambling, on to more important things now.

Today’s post is for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. This week our sketch is provided by Teresa Kline…

My card features some more new products from the 2013 Spring Catalog. The base of the card is Summer Starfruit Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of Baja Breeze and stamped it with the Netting Background Stamp in Baja Breeze. All of the images on the card are from the By the Tide Stamp Set*. The coral on the circle is stamped in Summer Starfruit and the fish is stamped in Basic Gray. The strip of Basic Gray Card Stock has a piece of Natural 7/16″ Trim Ribbon* that I adhered around the back with some Sticky Strip. The seahorse is stamped in Summer Starfruit and the image next to it is stamped in Baja Breeze and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. I used my Paper Snips to cut out the fish and the seahorse. The fish is mounted to the circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the seahorse and image are adhered to the ribbon with Mini Glue Dots. For the greeting I used a stamp from Teeny Tiny Wishes and punched it out with the Word Window Punch. It is mounted to a piece of Basic Gray that is cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. This is a great masculine card, especially for the outdoorsy type! If you have a fisherman in your life, well this would be perfect! Paper Craft Crew Sketch/Color Challenge #22

Happy day after Christmas! I hope that Santa was good to you all, he was very good to me! The best part of the holiday is spending time with family and friends. I had a nice relaxing day and still found some time to craft a little and watch a movie. With Christmas over I can;t believe that year is almost over. I think it went really fast, how about you? In the blink pf an eye it will be 2013, thankfully the Mayans were wrong!

Today I have my post for the Paper Craft Crew Challenge. This week we have a sketch/color challenge. You can do just the sketch or both, this week I did both. The colors are Bravo Burgundy, More Mustard and Crumb Cake and here is the sketch…

You all know how I feel about flags… love them! The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. For the background I stamped a piece of Crumb Cake with the Parlor Prints Background Stamp in Crumb Cake. The flagged piece is Bravo Burgundy and I embossed it with the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The greeting is from the Amazing Family Stamp Set* and is stamped in Bravo Burgundy. The “ribbon” strip is More Mustard and I stamped it in More Mustard with the Travel Journal Builder Wheel. For the embellishment I used a Soda Pop Top* and stamped some images from the Collage Curios Stamp Set* in Crumb Cake and Bravo Burgundy. The image is punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch and adhered to the inside of the Soda Pop Top* with some Multipurpose Glue. I backed it with a piece of More Mustard that I cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies* and mounted them to each other with some Mini Glue Dots and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I like the way that all of the elements coordinate together and give the card a slightly vintage look. I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this weeks Paper Craft Crew Challenge. Merry Christmas! & Sneak Peek!

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope that you are having a nice day with your family and friends! I still have some cards to make so I better get to it! In the mean time here is my card for today. It’s my Christmas card to all of you! The base of the card is Raspberry Ripple Card Stock. I rounded the corners with the 1″ Circle Punch on the base and the background layer. The background is Very Vanilla and I used the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce the outline of the ornament. The greeting is from the Snowflake Soiree Stamp Set and is stamped in Raspberry Ripple, it’s mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The flagged piece of paper is from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack*. I stamped an image from the Mixed Medley Host(ess) Stamp Set in Raspberry Ripple and punched it out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch. I used one of the new Designer Builder Brads* on top and the image under the bubble is from the Itty Bitties Stamp Set*, punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and too is stamped in Raspberry Ripple. The ornament is from the Keepsake Ornaments Stamp Set and again is stamped in Raspberry Ripple, cut out with the Holiday Ornaments Framelits Dies and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the simple elegance and the new Print Poetry DSP Stack coordinates well with the Ornament Keepsakes Set. I hope that you enjoyed your Christmas card and that you have a very happy day!
