Double Post – Pals Paper Arts & Paper Players

Another weekend over and done with. No complaints  from me, I had a nice weekend. Yesterday I kind of just hung around the house in the morning and made a card or two, or three. I should have cleaned a bit but I just wasn’t feeling it. I did end up going out with Heather for a while. We stopped by to see our Friends Neal and Steph’s and then headed out to Sonic for lunch. I have had a craving for a while! I got a bacon and cheese hot dog on a pretzel bun, everything should come on a pretzel bun! It was delicious. We stopped at Target on the way home and picked up some lunch for the week. I decided that I wanted to watch a movie last night so I sat down and put on Unknown with Liam Neeson. It was pretty good and I almost made it thorough the entire thing without being interrupted! LOL! Now we are back to the start of another week, one that will hopefully be a good one!

It’s Monday and that means that it’s time for the Paper Players challenge. I also have my card for the Pals Paper Arts challenge too since I used last week’s colors when I made my card on Saturday! Duh! First we’ll do the Pals Paper Arts card which is based on this week’s colors…

PPA 223

I did a tall skinny card just for fun! The card base is Tangelo Twist and my background is a piece of Basic Black. I used the Confetti Stars Border Punch on the right side and adhered it to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My tag is a piece of Very Vanilla, the top is punched with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the bottom corners are rounded with the Project Life Corner Rounder. I stamped the pumpkins and leaves from the Fall Fest Photopolymer Stamp Set in Tangelo Twist and Old Olive. The Fun Fall Framelits cut them out and Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the leaves to the pumpkins and the pumpkins to the tag. The greeting is form the “Vinatge” Delighful Dozen Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I threaded a piece of black hemp twine through the top and adhered the tag to the card with some more Stampin’ Dimensionals. A nice clean bright Halloween card and my little ceramic berry basket matches perfectly!

My card for this week’s Paper Players is based on these colors from the challenge…

Paper Players #217

I didin’t want to do another Halloween card so I went the complete opposite direction. This card starts with a base of Hello Honey Card Stock. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out a window from a piece of Very Vanilla. My greeting is from the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set and is stamped in Mossy Meadow. I adhered the cut out panel to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The flowers are from the Stippled Blossoms Stamp Set and are stamped in Tangelo Twist for the base and Tangerine Tango for the shadows. A little time with my Paper Snips and they are ready to be adhered on top of the Mossy Meadow leaves that I cut out with the Flower Frenzy Bigz L Die. To finish off the card I stamped a butterfly from the Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set in Tangelo Twist, punched him out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch and adhered him to the card with a Glue Dot. I love that even darker fall colors can make a pretty flowery card!

  1. Hi Justin! Such a treat you have for us today! Love those two-fers! That Halloween card is just delightful. 😉 (Love that vintage stamp set). And I really must get that star border punch. Can you believe I haven’t got it it yet?? And your second card is so pretty. I love the dimension on this one. And such a nice sentiment also. Your little ceramic berry baskets are so cute! Your staging looks really great! Have a wonderful Monday!

    1. Hello Karen!
I thought that you might like two cards instead of one! Thank you very much! I love that “Vintage” Stamp Set too, so many great greetings! The Star Border punch is one of my faves, and I have kept all of the confetti! I think that you definitely have to get it! The sentiment on the second card is such a great one good for so many things! I’m glad you are enjoying the staging too! Hope you had a great Monday! 🙂

  2. Love both your cards today. You inspire me to use more tags on my cards! You always do a wonderful job placing them in your layouts! Thanks for joining the Pals color challenge this week and sharing your creations!

  3. Boy Justin – You are on a roll today! Both cards are just out-of-the-gall-park fantastic. I love the color combos and the design of each card drew a big smile from me. Does your tall skinny care fit into a regular business style envelope? What are the dimensions of that card?
I hope you had as much fun making them as I had seeing them! Sorry you had to work today, I know I used to really look forward to three day weekends before I retired. Now I just love the seven day “weekends”. LOL Thanks for sharing such beautiful cards today. Big hugs from Maine.

    1. Why thank you Grace! Thank you very, very much! The tall skinny is 3 1/2 x 5 1/2. I usually just put them in a regular envelope with a piece of card stock. I always have a great time making my cards! Work wasn’t too bad, we are getting ready for the Gala next week. I’ll be glad when that’s over! I wish that my weekends were seven days! Big hugs back to you from Long Island! 🙂

  4. Both cards are fantastic Justin! I’m happy to see you went floral with the colors from The Paper Players. I love how you nestled the flowers in the negative circle space. Thanks for joining in with Ann’s color challenge.

    1. Thanks so much Linda! The Confetti Stars Border Punch is great! Love the shadow it makes when you pop it up! Yes, I am with you on tags! The flowers were a fun departure from fall! Enjoy your evening! 🙂

  6. Both of these cards are great! I love how you used the star punch on the first one and the flowers peeking out on the second. Great use of the colors. Thanks for joining us at The Paper Players.

  7. Love these, Justin! A great way to use the colors, traditional and non-traditional!!! LOVE those little baskets too….great staging! Thanks for sharing these with us at the Paper Players this week!

  8. Justin, this is fantastic! I’ve been kicking around that punch (in the catalog of course) for quite some time. I think you’ve just pushed me over the edge. Thank you for playing with us at Pals Paper Arts for PPA223.

  9. Justin, I love the way you created a cut out and clustered your flowers at the bottom of the circle. It reminds me of looking through a flower shop window. Just gorgeous. So glad you joined us at the Paper Players this week
