Pals Paper Arts 229

Happy Black Friday! Are you out and standing in a line somewhere to get a 70″ TV for $200?!?! LOL! I used to do Black Friday years ago but now with online shopping I see no reason to be cold for an extended period of time! I was looking at the LED TV’s and it’s crazy to see how cheap they are now! They are a lot of good deals out there but it’s way too early for me to start Christmas shopping, I prefer to wait until days before. Not always a good idea but I do it every year and there is no sense living in denial. My friend Kim finished her Christmas shopping in September! Now that to me is just crazy! LOL! I trust that you all had a nice Thanksgiving! Mine was quiet, just my parents and Taylor for dinner and that was at 1:00. I took my friend Chantal to the airport, which I have never seen so empty in all the times that I have been there! Traffic was a little heavy on the way back but not too bad. I stopped at Michaels to see Taylor, she told me not to go up there, she wants no customers so they will close next year! Of course I had to go! LOL! I came home and crafted for a while, watched some TV and then off to bed. A quiet low key Thanksgiving and I was quite happy with that!

Today I have my card for this week’s fun Pals Paper Arts sketch…

PPA 229

Lots of circles! This was one of those sketches that I knew exactly what I was going to do as soon as I saw it! My card starts off with a base of Pool Party Card Stock and the background is a piece of Soft Sky. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out some Silver Foil Sheet and “frames” for all of them. The frames are cut from Lost Lagoon, Pool Party, Basic Gray and Smoky Slate. Some Multi-Purpose Glue holds to frames to the foil sheet and them to the card. My greeting is from the Christmas Bliss Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Lost Lagoon. The left side is flagged and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I scattered a few Frosted Sequins around and adhered them with Crystal Effects to add a little more sparkle to the card. I like using the Crystal Effects to adhere the sequins because it dries nice and clear and you can’t see it in the holes in the middle of the sequins. And there you have my fun shiny circle card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. I hope that you enjoyed the card and the post! Thanks for stopping by! Have a fabulous Friday everyone! 🙂

  1. Oh Yeah Baby! As Austin Powers would say. LOL Immediately that’s what my mind went to. That’s a good thing, I love Austin Powers movies. Your card is so mod. LOVE IT! Use to go Black Friday shopping with my sister but no more. I’m to the point I can’t stand the chaos and rudeness of people. My patience wears very thin. I will go during the week or online.

    1. LOL! Yes Lisa, I can hear the music too! Thanks! The card definitely has a retro feel to it! People are a little nutty on Black Friday, I saw some guy tonight fighting with the security guard! STOP! LOL! 🙂

  2. Happy Friday Justin! Love the card design and what you saw in it! The silver circles look like little mirrors! Great tip about using the Crystal Effects as an adhesive especially for sequins. Thanksgiving was quiet up here in snowy Maine. Now onto Christmas decorating!! Have a relaxing long weekend!

    1. It was a very happy Friday… no work Beth! LOL! Thanks so much! The Crystal Effects is definitely the way to go for Sequins! I am going to attempt to put my tree, now I just have to find a place! LOL! Have fun with your decorating! 🙂

  3. Good morning Justin,
    Happy belated Thanksgiving!
    Love the card, so retro!
Taking a short break just had to read your post. Busy, busy day today. Started the holiday tradition of baking cookies all day long.
Used to do the early morning Black Friday shopping when my kiddos were little. (When it was fun). I’m with Lisa, society has really changed. Oh well, gotta go, back to watching the cookies so they don’t burn. LOL!
Have a great day! Hugs, Donna 🙂

    1. Hi there Donna!
Thanks! I hope that you had a nice Thanksgiving too! Thank you again! The card definitely has a retro feel to it! Mmm… cookies! People are a little too crazy on Black Friday and it’s a little too cold to be standing outside thanks! Send me some cookies! LOL! Hugs to you my friend! 🙂

  4. Good morning Justin:

I am definitely NOT a Black Friday shopper. It seems to me that if retailers can cut prices by 25% or more for that one day (which by the way has now turned into a week of discounts) they would do better to lower prices by 10% all year long. I am usually done with my Christmas shopping by the end of October. Yup, I don’t get the discounts but then I don’t have the stress of trying to find a parking space and standing in line forever to check out. I think it’s worth my sanity not to deal with all that.

Love you card today. From the photo it looks as if the foil papers are popped out like half round balls. Really, really cool. Glad you had a good Thanksgiving. Now relax and play today. Hugs, me 🙂

    1. Hello Grace!
Nope, I used to go but not in the past few years. I agree and find that sometimes you find better deals, especially on TV’s, around Superbowl time! I think that the lack of street far outweighs the discount!
I’m glad that you enjoyed the card! The foil does have the appearance of a little dimension, you’re right! I did relax today but now I need to get moving on cleaning tomorrow! Hugs to you my friend! XO 🙂

  5. I also like the tip about Crystal Effects with sequins. I like that the card appears to be covered with mirrors like a lot of walls in decor magazines and sites! Fun. Thanks for sharing every day!

    1. Thanks Becca! It definitely works better than any other glue that I have tried! Glad that you enjoyed the card too! Thank you for coming by to share with me! 🙂

  6. Happy Thanksgiving! Sounds like you had a great day. No more crazy shopping for me either. People are so rude and I deal with the public everyday at the bank so I am fine leaving the day to the crazy people! I don’t have to shop much anyway. My grandkids are in Illinois and they all want gift cards to do their own shopping anyway. I love love your card! Reminds me of a modern day Circle Circus. .a retired stamp set. This would be an awesome birthday card too!

    1. Thank you Bobbi! I did have a nice day, hope that you did too! People are definitely ruder around the Holidays, it’s supposed to be a happy time of the year! I love gift cards, then you can get whatever you want! Yes, it does remind me of Circle Circus too! Change out the sentiment and play with the colors and it could be just about anything! 🙂

  7. Hi Justin, Love the framed circles! The sliver and gray and sequins and embossing powder reminded me of bubbly champagne and the word bliss too! Happy your Thanksgiving was a good one, mine was too.
    🙂

    1. Hello Nancy!
Thank you! I like that everyone see something different! Glad that you had a nice Thanksgiving! 🙂

  8. Hi Justin,
Happy to hear you had a nice Thanksgiving with your family. Of course you had to go to Michaels to visit Taylor! LOL! I forgot to say that Daniel looks like his cut is healing well and what a gorgeous smile he has!
This year seams to be the first that Black Friday has come to us and it’s crazy out there in the shops. I went to get a few presents today and was so happy to get back home, not like me when shopping! Your friend Kim is so organised finishing her Christmas shopping in September.
Enjoy rest of weekend and I will stop by with you one Thanksgiving, ha,ha.

    1. Hello Michelle!
Thanks! It was small but fun none the less! LOL! Taylor was mad, I won’t lie! Daniel is doing well, thank you!
I thought that you might avoid Black Friday because you have all of those great after Christmas Sales! I don’t like shopping anywhere that is a little crazy! Kim is unreal at how organized she is and she is like that with everything! You definitely have to come by for Thanksgiving! I am planning on coming to London in September for my cousins wedding! I hoe I can manage to save! 🙂

  9. Wow, what an eye popper! A very different Christmas card. Love the aquas and grays. So glad you had a peaceful Thanksgiving. Ours was with about 30 other family and friends. So fun, so blessed! Happy long weekend!

    1. Thank you Georgie! You know how I like different and non-traditional! I would have liked a Thanksgiving with a lot of people, but we were just fine! Happy long weekend to you too! 🙂

  10. Another winning card today! I love your retro circles!!! Really, really creative!

No early Black Friday shopping here. We went out around 8, got everything on our list (and then some), and the only place we stood in line was at Joann Fabric for an emergency Versa Mark purchase! And there that line was almost 45 min!

    1. Thanks very much Melanie! It’s definitely got a retro vibe!
WOW! Sounds like you had a very productive shopping experience! What?! What was Joann’s giving away?! LOL! 🙂

  11. Now THIS is a really cool card. Very different for a holiday card but it totally works. And the bells match perfectly. LOL

As for Black Friday….do not miss it. Not that I ever took part in it in the first place. Utter insanity in my books.

    1. Thank you very much Michael! It has a bit of a retro feel to it. Gotta match the props! LOL!

I used to do Bkack Friday, i just cant be bothered any more. Too crazy, lines too long, people are nasty too!

  12. Hi Justin, Cool card! The sentiment is just beautiful! I must have missed that in the catalogue… We have insane sales like Black Friday on the day after Christmas, I avoid them too, can’t think of anything worse than fighting with people to save a couple of dollars, nobody’s got time for that, Lol! Hope your extended weekend is going well 😀 xx

    1. Hello Kelly!
Thank you! I love the colors! I agree with you about avoiding the sales! I have heard of you after Christmas sales! My weekend is going well, hope yours is too! 🙂

  13. Hi Justin—Sorry I didn’t get my comment on your post yesterday. I love this card! The silver and blues together look fabulous! Sounds like you had a nice Thanksgiving! I am not a black Friday shopper…don’t like the lines and all the craziness. I try to pick up things here and there but I usually wait at least until after Thanksgiving to get the majority of it done. Hope you are enjoying your time away from work! 😉

    1. Hello Karen!
No worries! We all get busy! Thank you! I too love the colors, I just can’t get enough of the blues lately! Thanksgiving was nice. I hate the Black Friday shopping, people do get a little insane. I too wait, usually too long! I am loving my time away from work! 🙂

  14. Oh my goodness!! This is such a fabulous card 🙂 I’m in love with it and can’t wait to try my hand a duplicating it. It is a cool retro but chic card!!

I did not go physically Black Friday shopping, I did do a lot of online though. I used to have a majority of my Christmas shopping done, little by little all through the year. Now I’ve turned into a last minute online shopper….SO much easier 😉

    1. Yay! Thanks very much Jill! It definitely has a retro feel to it! I’m glad that you stayed in and shopped! I wish I could say that my Christmas shopping was even started! I too am a last minute shopper, I think I like the challenge! LOL! 🙂

  15. Justin, What a wonderful Bright and Shiny Christmas Card! Thanks for joining us at Pals Paper Arts this week.

  16. Wow! Absolutely fabulous, Justin! Classic, retro, and sophisticated. You rocked it big time! Great color combination! Thanks for playing with the Pals this week!

    1. Thank you very much, Ann! I was quite happy with the way the card came out, and I love the colors too. I hope you enjoy the rest of your week! 🙂

  17. Lovely take on this week’s sketch! Crisp, clean and retro – definitely a JK Original 🙂 I’m glad you had fun with this week’s sketch. Thanks for playing along with PPA!
