Freshly Made Sketches 191

What a nice day I had yesterday! I woke up at 4:00am and left the house by 5:00 to go and pick up Michael. His flight landed early and he was out by 6:45. We stopped at the diner fro breakfast and then headed over to Scrap-A-Latte to see Renee. He had brought some chip board and MDF from Brasil for her to sell in the store so while he set that up I did my cutting for class tonight. We were at the store for most of the day. After the store weย stopped by my house to get his luggage and visited with Taylor for a bit. Then weย headed over to the pizza place to meet Sue and her husband for dinner. What a nice way to spend a day off from work!

Today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 191

A super simple sketch that leaves a lot open for interpretation. I wanted something simple and elegant, you’ll have to let me know if I was successful! The card base for today is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I embossed the Definitely Dahlia Background Stamp on a piece of Basic Black with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My greeting is from the Happy Birthday Everyone Host Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum. I wrapped it around the back and then adhered it to piece of “Vintage” Brushed Silver. That is then adhered to the card base with SNAIL and Fun Foam. Three Simon Says Stamp Sparkle and Shine Sequins complete the card. I love the font in the sentient and that Dahlia stamp is great! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you of sharing a part of my day with me, I’m happy that you stopped by! Enjoy your Thursday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Justin, this card is simply stunning, so very elegant and sophisticated, the gold embossed sentiment on Vellum looks so classy and gorgeous.
Beautifully made, thank you for sharing.

  2. Beautiful card. I love how you used the white embossing on the black card stock and the vellum across the front.

    1. Thank you Judy! A nice simple black and white card with some bling thrown in is a fun sometimes! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. You nailed that one ~~simple and elegant!!! It’s stunning, Justin. I’m seeing a new direction your cards are beginning to take these days and I love it!!! Hugs!!

  4. WOW! This is a gorgeous card and is so elegant. Really like your using the vellum for the greeting. Definitely Dahlia is definitely on my to buy list.

    1. Thanks very much Brenda! I love a heat embossed greeting on Vellum! The Definitely Dahlia stamp is awesome! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. As soon as my next order with the Definitely Dahlia stamp comes in, I’m case’ing your card. : ) It is simple and elegant — and simply beautiful. Your combination of gold EP and brushed silver paper is inspired.

  6. Good Morning Justin:

Your white embossing on the black card stock is definitely very elegant. However, I think the gold embossing on the vellum overlay you did really makes this card outstanding. Elegant, yes – Gorgeous, yes – Classy, yes – Innovative, most definitely! You have a winner here Justin!

So glad you had a wonderful day off. Even the weather cooperated! I must admit that I can certainly empathize with Michael on food. Every time I go to Connecticut I insist on having good Italian “real” pizza, hard rolls, pasta frageoli (pronounced Fa-zool) and Chinese. We didn’t know how spoiled we were with all the great food available in CT. Then I go to the grocery store and bakery before I come back to Maine to pick up items we cannot get here. Things like chocolate pudding pies and almond pies. O.K. so now I have made myself hungry and have to go find something good to eat.

You have yourself a Terrific Thursday. Give Michael a great big hug for me and tell Renee I said hi. Luv and hugs………XO

    1. Hi Grace!
Woo hoo! Thank you! The card came together nice and fast, I love when that happens! ๐Ÿ™‚
I did have a great day off! Yes, the weather was quite nice! Michael definitely goes through withdrawal from pizza, bagels, and Chinese food! We have now had all three! There is no better pizza than either John’s in midtown manhattan or Monty’s in Old Bethpage! I can’t wait to have some real fish and chips in London! I hope that you weren’t disappointed with what you had to eat in the house!
I had a great Thursday too! Michael said to say hello and so does Renee! Love you!! XOXO ๐Ÿ™‚
