Woodgrain Vellum Embossed Butterfly Wish

Ahh… Wednesday, the halfway mark! My day yesterday was nice. I had a somewhat productive day at work, got some things done which like I always say is a good thing. After work I headed over to Scrap-A-Latte to meet up with Renee and Michael. We discussed some crafty things and I got my stamps for the next class. We headed over to Red Robin for some dinner and made sure that we embarrassed Renee with some birthday shenanigans, it’s her birthday on Sunday. An early happy birthday to her! The rest of the evening was spent crafting. Another great day! Yay!

I also got a very nice present from a wonderful person… so nice to get a just because, thoughtful gift! I’m a little obsessed with London, especially the Underground. This is a vintage map of the London Underground from circa 1950…

Vintage London Underground Map MT

Today I have a nice simple card. The base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I inked up the “Vintage” Woodgrain Background Stamp in Sahara Sand and stamped it directly onto the card base. The greeting is from the Altenew Super Script 2 Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black directly onto the card too. My butterfly is heat embossed with two of the three layers form the Watercolor Wings Photopolymer Stamp Set in “Vintage” Pool Party and Calypso Coral Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum. The body is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder and then cut out with the Bold Butterfly Framelits. I used a piece of Foam Tape to adhere it to the card. A sprinkling of Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins completes the card. A nice simple card that would make a fun birthday, thank you or thinking of you card to brighten someones day! I hope that you enjoyed my quick card for today! As always, thanks so much for spending some time with me! Have a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

  1. Hey Justin, thank you and Grace for the happy birthday wishes – very sweet!! I did have a great day thank you – birthdays seem to come around more often than they used to, and now I have had 45 of them! O_o The London map is very cool, have you been there before? Pretty card today! The embossing looks like it is velvet in the photo, very nice, and the wish font is awesome 🙂 I had today off work, I did a long overdue “stock-up-the-pantry” shop, spent over $500! Then I had to reorganise my pantry, fridge and freezer to fit everything in -_- There goes a whole day, not exactly relaxing but it needed to be done. Hope your Wednesday is more interesting than mine, lol! Cheers Justin XOXO

    1. Hi Kelly!
You and I are the same age! I love that London Underground map! I have been to London many times before and am actually going in September! Thanks so much! I love that font for the greeting, it looks handwritten! It’s good when you can just take a whole day off and get one big thing accomplished isn’t it?! My Wednesday was not too bad! XOXO 🙂

  2. Beautiful card, Justin. Just beautiful. I love how you did the butterfly and stamping the woodgrain.

  3. Good Morning Justin!

I really do love this butterfly done in vellum. I agree with Kelly that the embossing looks like velvet. The color combination is really fantastic and uplifting. I don’t think I have ever seen a butterfly I didn’t love. Great job and even though you say this card is simple it sure doesn’t look that way. Glad you had a good day yesterday. Can’t wait to see the cards you are making for your next class.

What a great gift you received. The best part is always the surprise. I love it when I come home to something in the mail besides bills and pleas for money. LOL I’m trying to find someone in my area that would be willing to tutor me on how to use my tablet and how to Skype. If I can’t I’ll keep plodding along until I get it right. I have lots of patience.

Wishing you a Wonderful Wednesday. Hope you have something fun planned for tonight. Love and hugs to you my friend! 🙂

    1. Hello Grace!
Thank you very much! I have to admit that I do really like butterflies, they are peaceful and delicate. The card was pretty uncomplicated compared to ones that I have done! If it takes me under 30 minuted to make it, it’s simple! I’m going to work on the cards for class this weekend!
Yes, I love the map! It’s so nice when someone just thinks of you, really puts some thought into it! Mail is definitely not usually fun, I agree! What kind of tablet did you get?
I did have a fun evening! I hope that you had a nice day! Love and hugs right back at ya! XOXO 🙂
