Freshly Made Sketches 211

Hmm.. what day is today?! Why it’s FRIDAY of course! I had a busy Thursday. I FaceTimed with Andrea in the morning and then ran over to Scrap-A-Latte to see Renee for a bit before coming back home to have dinner with my parents, Daniel and Jason. After dinner I ran over to BJ’s with Heather and then a quick stop at Michaels before briefly coming back home to make my card for today. Then it was off to Heather’s for thirsty Thursday with Stephanie. Today I’m off to Manhattan to hang at The Ink Pad before my card class there this evening. I’m staying at Kim’s tonight because I’m going to go back to The Ink Pad on Saturday for a bit too! I have a busy few days ahead! I like them like that though!

The card that I made last night is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 211

I did a little more watercoloring, this time with Distress Ink! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock cut to 3 1/2″ wide. I used some Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine to spatter the front and set that aside to dry while I worked on images. I stamped the heart from the Simon Says Stamp I See You Photopolymer Stamp Set in Versa-Mark on Tim Holtz Watercolor Paper and heat embossed it with Ranger Gold Embossing Powder. It’s colored in with Mermaid Lagoon and Hickory Smoke Distress Ink, I colored the markers onto a clear blockΒ and the used a wet brush to fill in the grid. I used the Simon Says Stamp Hearts and Spoons Dies to cut out the heart and adhered it to the card with Foam Tape. My flowers are from the Simon Says Stamp Flowers On My Mind Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Abandoned Coral and Fossilized Amber. I spritzed the stamps with water using a Mini Mister before stamping them onto some more Tim Holtz Watercolor Paper. They are cut out with the Coordinating Dies and adhered to the heart with more Foam Tape. I stamped the leaves from the Simon Says Stamp Oh Happy Day Photopolymer Stamp Set in Twisted Citron and also cut them out with the Coordinating Dies, they are tucked under the flowers. My greeting is from the I See You Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and adhered to the flowers with more Foam Tape. Finally, three Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins are adhered to the heart and finish the card! I love the fun combination of bright colors, definitely not my usual! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you so much for visiting today and I wish you all a very crafty Friday! πŸ™‚

  1. Awww, thanks Justin . . . I think you are pretty fantastic too. I like the graphic heart, looks very sky-scraper-ish. I like the gold embossing and the gold splattering too. Have a great weekend.

    1. Why thank you Nancy! I love that heart, especially heat embossed! I hope that you enjoyed your weekend!:-)

  2. One question Justin – is today’s card an A2 size? I really like the look of the heart being extended beyond the base. Something different is always refreshing. I bet Michael really likes this one.

Things are quiet here. The hubs has the flu and that comes with a headache, body aches, sore throat, etc. Therefore I have pretty much relegated him to his recliner with a stern warning that he is to rest and only rest. Of course if I take my eyes off of him he tries to escape!

Glad you are teaching more classes tonight and tomorrow. You are going to share the cards you make right? LOL Have a fun filled Friday my friend. Love and hugs, XO πŸ™‚

    1. Nope Grace, it’s 3 1/2″ wide so that even though the heart hangs off the side it still fits in a standard envelope! It’s definitely nice and bright, just like Michael!
Sorry to hear that hubby is sick, that stinks! He sounds like my dad, can’t sit still for very long!
The cards were similar to the ones I did at Scrap-A-Latte so I only shared the one that was different! I had a good Friday! Love to you!! XOXO πŸ™‚

  3. Your creativity never ceases to amaze me, Justin! This is a work of art. I love the look of the stained glass on the heart. Thanks for sharing with us at Freshly Made Sketches!
