SIP Challenge 29 – A Sketch!

I hope that you all survived your first day back to work! I went over to Scrap-A-Latte to see Renee for a bit. It had been way too long since I have seen her and we got caught up and I picked up some paper to make the cards for this month’s card classes. From there I came back home and FaceTimed with Andrea for a bit and made my card for today. I spoke to Michael for a while and then had some spaghetti for dinner at Mum and Dad’s. Later on I took a ride over to see Heather and we watched the end of The Notebook and The Lucky One. She is a big fan of ABC Family! LOL! It was quite chilly here, especially last night, and I miss our warm December already!

It’s time for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge and this week we have a sketch from Carolyn…

SIP Sketch Challenge 29 800

I got some goodies from Concord & 9th yesterday in the mail that I will be using for a class at The Ink Pad on January 29th so I decided that I would break them in! The card base is Ivory 110lb Card Stock with a strip of Gold Glimmer Paper across the top. I stamped the Tree Ring Photopolymer Stamp in Soft Suede on a piece of Sahara Sand and cut it out with my Paper Snips. It’s adhered to the card with SNAIL. The three flags are a piece of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon, 7/8″ Natural Cotton Ribbon and a piece of denim from an old pair of jeans. They are all adhered to the card with Scor-Tape. I heat embossed the heart and love from the Tree Hugs Photopolymer Stamp Set in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and cut that out with my Paper Snips too. It’s adhered to the card with Kool Tak Clear Foam Tape. For a little extra sparkle I added some Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins to the tree ring. I love the stamps and all of the texture from the ribbons and denim! A nice masculine Valentine! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Sketch Challenge from Carolyn! Head on over to the BLOG and see the rest of the Team’s cards along with out Guest Designer for January, Dena Rekow! Thank you so much for coming by today! I wish you all an amazing Tuesday! 🙂

  1. Hi Justin:
So happy to see you are recycling an old pair of jeans into pieces for gorgeous cards. I would never have thought of that. AND, I have tons of fabric scraps that I could put through the Sizzix to make all kinds of shapes. Thanks for that little smack on the imaginative side of my brain. Say, if you need fabric scraps, let me know – there is plenty available here and the price is right – free. LOL
Love the card today my friend. Keep up the great work. Love and hugs, XO 🙂 Take the time to have a Terrific Tuesday.

    1. Hello Grace!
Yes, I actually love to use Denim on a card, love the texture! See those steel rule dies will come in handy for that! LOL! I will let you know if I need any fabric, believe it or not I actually have quite a bit too, and I’m not sure why?!
Glad that you like the card!! Love and hugs to you! I am going to have a terrific Tuesday and hope that you do too! 🙂

  2. I agree with Dana that your combining of rustic and elegant gives the card a nice touch. I have also used denim on cards for the texture.
