Mum’s Birthday Card & Mama Elephant!

What a lovely day I had yesterday! I met Sandy at the Seaford Train Station at 9:15AM so we could take the 9:45 train into Manhattan. We stopped at The Ink Pad so I could drop off some merchandise for Anna. I got see my Jane! From there Sandy and I headed over to Dirty Bird for lunch, so delicious! We wandered around the Meat Packing District for a bit and then headed over to WestBeth for the Mama Elephant 4th Annual Anniversary Event. Lots of new stamp and die sets and some older ones that I just had to have! We met up with my friend Nancy and sat and talked to her for a while. I also got to see Angela and Kryssi from Mama Elephant! We are going to work on having them come out the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store for an event! YAY! Around 3:45 we headed out and stopped at Starbucks on the way back to The Ink Pad. Sandy met up with her son David and his girlfriend and I hung out with Patrice and Jane for a bit before heading back to Penn to catch the train. I got a text from my Mum that they were still at my Brother’s so I drove there straight from the train station. The first thing I see when I walk in is Taylor fast asleep on the couch! Erika saved me some of the chicken parmesan that they had for dinner and a wonderful piece of Red Velvet cake. I got play with my little buddy Daniel, we played with his Mickey train and then he showed me his toys in the playroom. By the time I got home it was 9:00 and I was done! Today we have a Hand Lettering Class given by a friend that I found through my friend Dianne at the Store, I’m taking it too! Can’t wait! I did remember to take some pictures! Here is the courtyard outside of where they have the event space at WestBeth…

And since WestBeth is technically artist housing there is always some neat artwork around. I love this funky sculpture that’s on the way in to the area that the event space is…

And here are just a few of the new Mama Elephant sets that I got…

I love that little Charlie brown tree!!

Since it was Mum’s Birthday yesterday I thought I would share the card that I made for her with you today! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. All of the flower images are from one of my all time favorite stamp sets, the Altenew Beautiful Day Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the flower in Soft Lilac, Lavender Fields, Deep Iris and Midnight Violet, the leaves are stamped in Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades and Evergreen all with my Mini MISTI. I heat embossed the additional images in Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder onto 48lb Vellum and used the Coordinating Dies to cut them all out. They are all adhered with Vellum Adhesive and 3D Foam Squares. My greeting is from the Altenew Super Script 2 Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Midnight Violet again with my Mini MISTI. Of course the card needed some sparkle so I added a few Pretty Pink Posh Amethyst, Pansy Purple, Mossy Green, Lime Sorbet and Gold Sequins! Purple is my Mum’s favorite color so she loved the card! I hope that you like it too! Thank you for sharing in my little Saturday Adventure! Have a simple Sunday! πŸ™‚

  1. Great day and great pictures. Happy Birthday to your Mom. Her card is perfect.
I wish I were able to take the class today, but you know how it goes . . . you do NOTHING for weeks on end and then two things come on the same day. We are celebrating my uncle’s 88 birthday . . . dinner out for 11! This will be a great day.
Hopefully, the class will be a huge success and will be given again. I can’t wait to hear all about it.

  3. Awesome card, Justin!! Love that flower and those purples from Altenew are gorgeous!! I have the little cubes as well – I had to have them when I saw them, even though I am so NOT a purple fan. LOL

Looks like the event yesterday was a success. Now, I’m even more disappointed that I couldn’t come. πŸ™ Next year, come hell or high water, I will make it – even if I have to walk to the train station. LOL No Uber where I live in the boonies…

    1. Thank you Christy! Yes, that flower is one of my faves and the Altenew Ink is fabulous! I never used to be a purple fan but lately I have been and I think it may be those inks too! LOL!

  4. Totally beautiful card for your Mum. I’m sure she loved it. I love the gold background with the beautifully colored purple flower and the big greeting. Your day sounds as perfect for the City – on the go all the time. Can’t wait to see how you use your new goodies. Love the pictures, especially the artistic sculpture. I got some crafting done with the “Joy” set and it turned out to be very cute! Good luck with the class. It will be fun when you begin hand lettering your cards. Have a super Sunday, my friend.

  5. Awesome card for your Mum Justin! I love the way you are able to put 4 colors together and the images come to life. I have a bit of a hard time doing just that. I do especially love the way you embossed the vellum and used it to back the fabulous flower. Absolutely the best background for it ever! I too love purple so I can understand that your Mum would be over the top happy to get this one.

So glad you got to have a day in Manhattan. I know how much you must miss it. Sounds like the event was a success and it cracks me up that you own your own stamp store and still buy from other places! I’d love to see how you store the massive amounts of supplies you must have. Even more, how in the heck to you ever remember what you have? LOL If I don’t see it, I forget it’s there. LOL

You have yourself a Super Sunday my friend. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us every day and we love seeing the photos. Love and hugs to you – XXOO πŸ™‚
