SIP Challenge 68 – Card Maker’s Choice!

Well, the sun finally came out yesterday after not seeing it for a week! I wasn’t sure what it was at first but then I remembered! LOL! I had a busy day at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store! Renee had her Christmas Card Club and the ladies wandered in and out all day making their cards. I managed to get two cards made and a lot of other administrative stuff done! After work I came home and had some dinner and then went over to Heather’s to catch up on some TV. I’m off from the Store today, I have to go and take Taylor to get her wisdom teeth removed. Not fun. And then I’m off to Manhattan to see my friend Ella for a bit. Yay for back to Manhattan!

Tuesday’s mean a new challenge over at the Stamp, Ink, Paper blog…

Cardmaker’s Choice is always a favorite! I played with some more soon to be released Mama Elephant! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I took a piece of Solar White 80lb and used my Mini Ink Blending Tool to add Hero Arts Navy and Grape Juice Ink to create a night sky background. Next up I die cut a piece of Black 110lb with the Mama Elephant Cityscape Creative Cuts. The skyline is adhered to the card with Dot Runner Adhesive and the road has a piece of white behind it and then 3D Foam Squares hold it in place. My houses are from the Mama Elephant City Sidewalks Photopolymer Stamp Set, they are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I used my Prismacolor Pencils to color in the buildings and the Coordinating Creative Cuts to cut them out, some more 3D Foam Squares adhere them to the card. My trees and phone box are also from the set and are adhered to the buildings with still more 3D Foam Squares. The greeting is a piece of Solar White 110lb cut out with the Mama Elephant Spreading Holiday Cheer Creative Cut. I used Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive to hold it to the card and added a few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins to give it just a little shine! I love those cute little buildings and the way the Hero Arts Ink blends is just fantastic! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Card Maker’s Choice challenge! 1. Love the city skyline, and the sentiment, and the sequins! Poor Taylor, remember that well, ice packs for the swelling and most important NO STRAWS! sucking on a straw can lead to very painful dry socket. I remember living on a liquid diet, pureed soup and pureed cottage cheese/fruit cocktail for a few days. I was also told no nuts for a number of months, your jawbone is weakened and eating nuts could cause a fractured jaw. So sorry once a mother hen, always a mother hen, the throw in retired nurse and the unsolicited advice flows! Best wishes Taylor!

    1. Thank you Lynne! I do love my cityscape dies! I passed on all of your advice to her, I appreciate your concern! She is doing ok. 🙂

  2. Wow Justin!
Love this card! The night sky with the sequins and the cityscape!! And the coloring on the houses is beautiful! Awesome card!

    1. Thanks so much Gerri! I do love a city themed card! The houses are really cute and the colored pencils were much easier to use to color them in! 🙂

  3. Wow! I need a moment to fully appreciate the amount of work that went into creating this beautiful card! You have created an amazing scene! Hope your friend Taylor does okay with her wisdom teeth extraction. That can be tough. Tell her that bags of frozen peas are the best ice packs because they conform to the shape of her face. Get one bag (or two if she had all four wisdom teeth out) to keep on her face and then extra to swap out when the first get warm.

    1. Thank you very much Linda! It was a lot of work but I love the way that it came out! Taylor did fine at the dentist. I’ll let her know about the peas! Thanks! 🙂

  4. Oh, I love this card. I’m not sure I’d want to color it all in though. Looks fantastic! Love the little popped up phone booth and trees.
So sorry about Taylor having to have her teeth pulled. I guess it is something these kids go through these days. If she is like my girls, she will be fine. Sounds bad, but they bounced back better than I would have dreamed. Fell Better Taylor!!!
    🙂

    1. Thank you Nancy! The coloring was actually really fun to do! I love the little teeny tiny trees and phone box!
Yes, Taylor is fine. Her mouth will be sore for a couple of days but she’ll live! Thanks! 🙂

  5. Wow! What an impressive amount of coloring and workmanship went into this gorgeous card! Taylor, when I was 18, I had all my wisdom teeth out. I got to stay overnight in the hospital to get insurance coverage. My teeth were badly bony impacted. Afterward, I had to flush the holes with warm water. It wasn’t too bad at all, except for my mother who was no help at all other than transporting me to and from the hospital! I am sure your family will take better care of you; they are good people and love you! Good luck! Hugs, Nancy B

    1. Thank you Nancy! It really was fun to color those little houses in! Taylor is doing well! She does have a bunch of people to take care of her! Sorry your mum wasn’t more help. Hugs to you! 🙂

  6. Every time I post that a card is my favorite you top it and this one totally tops them all!! I just love this!!

  7. Stunning card, Justin!! I love the little cityscape you created and that beautiful background!!! The pop of white via the sentiment is perfect!

Hope everything went well with Taylor today!

    1. Thank you Christy! The stamp set is a lot of fun and I did enjoy the coloring! Taylor is fine, thanks! 🙂

  8. So that is what the bright yellow thing in the sky was, it has been so long I forgot. GL to Taylor, my kids all did so well with this, min swelling and hardly any pain. Hope she is the same.
So glad to see you are using your new stamp sets! This card is gorgeous!!!!! I love the Cityscape die in the back. Reminds me of downtown Chicago

    1. Ha ha! Yes, me too Linda! It’s hiding again this morning! I’m sure that Taylor will be fine! Thanks!
I love that little set, ME has a good release this time! Yes, I like that the Cityscape isn’t specific! 🙂
