SIP Challenge 73 – Grateful!

That was a Monday for sure. I woke up with a little bit of a headache, but it wasn’t too bad. It was hot in the apartment so I’m guessing that’s why. I had a nice quiet ride to the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store and managed to get two cards made in the morning. The headache got worse as the day progressed and I finally took some Excedrin around 4:30. It had gotten a little bit better by the time I headed home and I felt much better after dinner. I ran a few errands and watched some craftyΒ YouTube videos before calling it a night. Today I want to focus on planning out my classes and future events a little better. I need to work on that, I’m not the greatest at planning ahead! πŸ˜€

So, today is Tuesday and that means that there is a new challenge over on the Stamp, Ink, Paper blog…

I have to say that the grateful die in the Concord & 9th Grateful Leaves set is probably one of my favorites of all time! My card base for today is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I die cut the grateful from a piece of Deep Blue and then traced the outline onto the card base. I then heat embossed the sentient and leaf from the Concord & 9th Lacy Leaf Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder. While it doesn’t seem complicated it sure did tale a long time to adhere all of those Gold Pretty Pink Posh Sequins! I kept checking to make sure that I hadn’t missed any spots! After the Multi-Matte Medium dried I put some 3D Foam Squares around the sequins and added Fun Foam to the top and then adhered the panel to the card. I did take a picture of what it looked like before I put it together…

Messy cluster of sequins! Just a few more Gold Sequins and the card is finished! I do love the look of all of the sequins through the die cut grateful, it almost looks like it’s a shaker! I hope that you like my Design Team card for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge! We hope that you will stop by the BLOGΒ and get some inspiration from the rest of the Design Team and share your card with us! Thanks for your visit today! Have a terrific Tuesday! πŸ™‚

  1. That is a fabulous idea, love the look of the sequins behind the die cut, and I love the leaf as well, so delicate looking. (Wondering if you have a CO monitor in your home, headaches are a symptom of carbon monoxide poisoning, and if you were having issues with your furnace, might be worth checking it out. Sorry! the mother/nurse in me coming out!!)

    1. Thank you Lynne! That set is definitely a favorite of mine! I don’t have a CO2 monitor but I will get one. I appreciate the thought! πŸ™‚

  2. What an elegant card, Justin!! I love the grateful shaker with the dark blue CS. That leaf is just so pretty too. Those gold sequins are so great. This card is off the charts!! Hope the headache goes away soon. Any pain is no fun. Have a great Tuesday and remember to vote. It’s one of the great privileges we have living in this great country. Take care.

    1. Obviously I totally misinterpreted your card without reading the entire description. I thought it was odd that you put all those foam dots around it without making sure all the holes were closed and the sequins couldn’t escape. But then I read you glued the sequins to just the spot needed to cover the “grateful”. How clever of you. Actually I like this better than if it were a shaker. Great idea and technique. I learn something new every day! Have a great one!

      1. LOL! That’s why I put the extra picture up! It’s nice because the sequins stay and are always behind the greeting! Thank you! πŸ™‚

    2. Thank you so much HJ! I do really like that stamp and die set! I hate having a headache, I’m sure that no one like them! Hope that you enjoyed your Tuesday! πŸ™‚

  3. It’s a good I read your words. I thought you really lost it until I scrolled down and had to think! I thought I lost it. I couldn’t figure out the word! Ha! Wow, no wonder you get headaches! The result is truly amazing! I would like to get into your mind for just one day. I don’t have any kind of artistic eye. Thank you for sharing yourself again and again!
    Feel good! Hugs, Nancy B

  4. Wow Justin!
Stunning card!! Love that die cut leaf…. beautiful! And great idea to ground those sequins instead of a shaker. Very cool.

  5. My oh my Justin – just when I thought you couldn’t possibly figure out another way to use sequins you turn around and make this magnificent card based on sequins. I love it! I also think that leaf die is spectacular and bringing it all together with that deep blue CS couldn’t have been more perfect! Great job. I agree with Lynne. You need to get a CO detector. We have them in our bedroom and kitchen. Very inexpensive and worth every penny. You take care of yourself because we need you to inspire us. Have yourself a totally terrific Tuesday. Love and hugs, XXOO πŸ™‚

    1. I have to keep coming up with new ways to impress you so that you keep coming back Grace! I am really enjoying the dark blue lately! Need to get more of it! I will get a CO2 detector. I think that Heather has one that I can have. Hope that your day was great! Love and hugs to you! XOXO πŸ™‚
