Happy Saturday! Wow, am I glad that week is over! It was super busy at work but I did manage to get some stuff done today… whew! It’s supposed to rain today, tomorrow and Monday on and off but it will be warmer so I’m ok with that. I did get some fun news this week that I have been waiting to share with you but I can’t hold it in any longer! I have been asked to do a presentation at Leadership in Houston Texas in January!! How cool is that?! I’m really excited about it and a little nervous but I’ll feel better once I get my presentation together. Hopefully I will see some of you there! 🙂
Today I have not one but two cards for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. Thanks to Cindy for choosing me for her pick last week! You can see my original post here and the Pals post here. This week they have given us these colors to work with…
It took me a little while to get going on what I was going to do. As I mentioned I ended up making two cards because I wasn’t thrilled with the first one. My first card used a piece of Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper to cover the whole front of a card base of Whisper White Card Stock. The main panel is a piece of Rich Razzleberry behind a piece of Crumb Cake that I adhered a piece of Rich Razzleberry that I cut out with the Lattice Bigz Die. The butterflies are from the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die, one is Vellum Card Stock that I embossed with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the other is a piece of Crushed Curry that I stamped in Crushed Curry with one of the Paper Pumpkin Stamps. My greeting is from the Happy Day Stamp Set and is stamped in Rich Razzleberry, the ends are flagged and behind it is a piece of Rich Razzleberry that I also embossed with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. A few Basic Jewels Pearls on the butterfly complete the card. I don’t hunk I have ever covered the whole card front with DSP before but I like it!
My second card starts off with a base of Crumb Cake Card Stock. I created the background by stamping the Positively Chevron Background Stamp in Crushed Curry on Crushed Curry. My flag is a piece of Rich Razzleberry that I punched out the left side with the Chevron Border Punch. Some Crumb Cake pieces also punched out with the Chevron Border Punch are adhered along the right. The Crumb Cake flag is stamped with one of the Paper Pumpkin Stamps in Crumb Cake and all of the pieces are mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set and is stamped in Rich Razzleberry right on the background. Now that is one card that’s full of chevrons!
I think I’m going to go with the first card for my entry. You can let me know which one you prefer by leaving me a comment, I always enjoy hearing what you think! Thanks so much for checking in with me today to see my double Pals Paper Arts cards for this week’s color challenge. Enjoy all that your Saturday has to offer! 🙂

Love the colours in this challenge, but no prizes for guessing which card I like best, Justin. LOL!
Thanks Carolyn! Yup, I know which one you like! 🙂
*Very* striking designs, Justin! I especially love the effect of embossing vellum with a folder. And your geometric design reminds me of artwork that I’ve seen at museums. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much El! I like that it make the embossed part of the vellum white. Have a great day! 🙂
Hi Justin:
First of all I am Uber Excited to hear about your invitation to do a presentation in Houston in January. I just know that whatever you decide to incorporate will be fabulous.
The BigZ Lattice die is my “go to” die. It is the most versatile die I own and I have used it for everything from Congratulations cards to Sympathy cards. So, now you know which card I prefer but note, both cards are beautiful. I never thought about using my embossing folders on vellum until you mentioned it today. I wonder why? So, as soon as I have some time to work on cards I’m going to get out that vellum and see what I can do.
Have a fabulous weekend – you have had an exciting week between becoming an Uncle and now a Presenter for SU. WOW – sounds like you need to get into Manhattan and celebrate if you ask me.
Hello Grace!
Thank you very much! I was so stunned that they asked me! I hope that you are correct!
I always forget that I have the Lattice Die. I think it goes really well with the DSP! I have embossed on Vellum, I like the way it makes it white.
I hope that you have a fabulous weekend too! Yes, lots going on here! If the weather was better I would be headed in now! I’m looking forward to going to Bryant Park and visiting all of the little shops they set up there for the holidays! 🙂
Congratulations on your presentation offer. I am sure you will be fantastic. Something for us, back at home, to look forward to. I love these cards, and would never have put the colors together. Nice to see something other than Christmas, and don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Christmas. 🙂
Thank you Nancy! I’m hoping it will go well! I need a break from Christmas too! 🙂
Both cards are just wonderful, Justin! Wow, I’ve never embossed vellum. (must try!) And congratulations on the Leadership Presentation! I’m sure you will dazzle them with your design. Thanks for joining us with two contributions to this week’s PPA Challenge.
Thank you very much Diane! Embossing on Vellum is neat. I hope that I don’t panic! Have a great week!
Hi Justin! Super-excited for you to be asked to present at Leadership! Wish I was going! You’ll do great and I’m sure you’ll post some pics for those of us that can’t see you in person, right?? What a fun week for you! Both of these cards are great…I really like the color combo! Enjoy your Saturday!
Thank you so much Karen! I wish you were going too! I will post pics, not to worry. I hope that you had a great Saturday! 🙂
Congrats on being chosen to do a presentation at Leadership! I know you will do well. I love the butterfly card. The lattice die is one of my favorites, embossed vellum is very pretty, and my own emblem is the butterfly — you should see my stamping room! Hope you get into the city soon. I’ll bet the little shops in Bryant Park are sweet. Try to duck between raindrops over the next couple of days…Nancy B
Thank you Nancy! I hope so! I always forget about the Lattice Die! I’ll bet your stamping room is amazing! I should have gone in today, it turned out to be a nice day, just the morning was rainy. 🙂
Both cards are beautiful Justin. I am however partial to the butterflies one (hum… like Carolyn?). The colors are very rich. Really like the effect of the embossed vellum. Will have to try that too.
Spent a fabulous day at a Chrismas Fun Day where we made 7 projects including a decorated frame, cards, tags, dressed up little bags and had so much fun. The event was done by my upline and it was such a great day.
Can’t wait to see your presentation at Leadership!! Woo Hoo!
Thank you Louise! Yes, butterflies are Carolyn’s favorite too! Sounds like you had a very nice Saturday! I hope you enjoy my presentation! 🙂
I am very late getting to this. Congrats on your invite. How wonderful and exciting. I have been crafting today and playing around with the Lattice die. I couldn’t believe your post included this die. Both cards are lovely. Still trying to get my card to where I’m happy with it. Can’t wait to see what you have for tomorrow.
You are never too late! Thank you Lisa! Wow! Great minds huh?! I’m glad you liked both cards! Tomorrow is Just Add Ink! 🙂
Yowza! Congrats on the honor, Justin! I’ll be there to watch for sure. Both cards are wonderful, Justin…but surprisingly enough, I am mesmorized by the second one! Thanks for joining the Pals at Pals Paper Arts!
Woo hoo!! Thanks Ann! I’m looking forward to seeing you!! I’m glad you enjoyed the cards too! 🙂
Whew… Hot-Diggity-Dog, Justin! I Love both cards, very bright and cheerful! Good Job!!!
Thank you Vicki! Have a great day! 🙂
