Freshly Made Sketches 160

Happy Thursday! No more complaining about work, it is what it is and soon the week will be done! Last night I went to the Scrapbook store and met up with Michael, Renee, her husband and Corrine. We hung out at the store for a bit and chatted with the people coming in for last nights class. There was one lady there that told me I look a little like Tim Holtz, but taller so she called me Tim’s brother for the rest of the time that we were there. LOL! We all headed over to Panera for a little dinner and fun conversation. After that I came home and made my card for today. Sometimes it’s nice when a few hours after work can make your day!

Speaking of my card for today, it’s for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge and Rita has supplied us with this week’s inspiration…

Freshly Made Sketches 160

Nice and simple! I felt the need to make something other than a Christmas or Halloween card so here’s what I came up with. The card base is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Soft Suede embossed with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My panel on the right is some Calypso Coral embossed with the same. For the flag I used a piece of paper from the Park Lane Designer Series Paper Pack and cut it out with the Banners Framelits. Both the panel and the flag are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A circle punched out from a piece of Old Olive with the 2″ Circle Punch is up next and serves as the base for my flower and butterfly. They are both from the Polkadot Pieces Stamp Set and are stamped in Blackberry Bliss and Daffodil Delight. The flower is punched put with the 1 3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch and the butterfly with the Elegant Butterfly Punch. For the greeting I used the And Many More Stamp Set and some Blackberry Bliss. The Bitty Banners Framelits cut it out and I edged it with my Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Markers to make it stand out a bit. All of the piece are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and I popped up the butterflies wings to complete the card. A nice simple card that reminds us that Spring will be here again! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Thanks for stopping by and sharing in my day! I wish you all a very happy Thursday! 🙂

  1. Hey . . . great card. I agree, nice for a non-holiday card. I just got the polka dot set on Monday and I already put the labels on them. (clear mount) I’ll be inking it up today. I like all the different dots so much. I love the colors.

Didn’t you have your feathers on as a header for about one day? Also, still having to sign in.(Sorry)
    🙂

    1. Hey Nancy! Thank you! I needed something non-holiday! It is a fun set and the DSP has some neat colors. The feathers only show up when you go to the home page, trying to fix it. Still ironing out the kinks! 🙂

  2. Nice card. I, too, got this set not too long ago and haven’t had a chance to use it yet. I really like what you did with it. By the way, I really miss the feathers you had on your previous blog!

    1. Thank you Brenda! I haven’t used the set in a while. It’s a good set. The feathers are on the homepage, still ironing out the kinks. 🙂

  3. What a pretty change of pace! I am so glad you are having fun after work; now you have to make work a fun place! If I knew how, I would still be at my job. BTW, how is Taylor? You haven’t told us what she is up to lately, and how is she liking her car? I have to go finish my Halloween treats…Nancy B

    1. Thanks so much Nancy! Needed non-Holiday! I am having so much fun after work, working on work itself! It’s sad when you like your job and things are just not good. Taylor is good, she is enjoying school and her car. Hope you got all of your Halloween treats done! 🙂

  4. Hi Justin:

Normally a card this “busy” with so many colors would not be my cup of tea but for some unknown reason I really love this card. It screams “happy” and I love that. All the colors really meld well and make for some excitement when put together as you have done here. Yup – it’s definitely out of my comfort zone but I absolutely love it! Don’t know how you managed that but you did. Have a fantastic day today. Any fun plans for Halloween? 🙂

    1. Hello Grace!
I thought the card was quite happy and I’m glad that you agree! Yay! I love when I get to surprise you! I hope that you enjoyed your day! 🙂

  5. Hi Justin- this is a really sweet card- love that stamp set. Polka dots are so fun!
Thanks and hope you had a wonderful day.

    1. Hello Marty!
Thank you! The polkadots are fun! Needed fun! I hope that you had a good day! 🙂

  6. Loving polka dots right now for some reason! Looks like I am not the only one. Glad you got your site moved, looks good. I can see your feathers on the home page, but not once I click to see the comments, if that helps. Happy Halloween!

    1. Thank you Jeffie! Polkadots are fun! The site transition is still a work in progress, but I’ll get it all straightened out! I still can’t figure out why the feathers disappear! Happy Halloween to you too! 🙂

  7. I love all of those polka dots and your color combination, Justin! Great take on the sketch!

    1. Thank you Amy! Good colors in the DSP and a fun stamp set! I hope that you have a great weekend! 🙂

  8. Great card, nice color combo. It works well.

Tim Holtz? Well I would take that as a compliment. Tim is amazingly talented, as you are, very down to earth, as you are has awesome friends as you do and is incredibly wealthy. OK 3/4 aint bad. LOL

    1. Thanks very much Linda! LOL! Yes, I’ll take the Tim Holtz reference too! I appreciate it! LOL! I would like the 1/4 as well! Nah, I’m content with what I have! Have a great day! 🙂
