Another lovely day here on Long Island. It wasn’t quite as warm as yesterday but no complaints. My day was very nice, I got up and puttered around the house for a bit and then went to meet Sandy and LeAnne to go to the Scrapbook store and meet up with Michael. LeAnne was up from PA to spend the weekend with Sandy. The ladies browsed around the store for a bit and I spoke to Renee and Michael. After they were done the four of us headed over to Panera for lunch. I got to use Apple Pay for the first time and it was pretty cool! Just touch your finger to the home button and my purchase was paid for! We had a nice lunch and even got the waitress to take our picture! So many craft people at one table! 🙂
After I came home and crafted for a bit. Andrew stopped by for a quick chat and I gave him some stuff to put in his car to help with his service engine soon light. I sat down and watched a movie and relaxed a bit. Working all of those hours on Friday made the weekend seen even shorter. And now we are back to Monday. Bleh!
Not all bad though because Monday’s mean Paper Players challenge time! This week we have a fun sketch from Nance…
When I saw the sketch I decided that I wanted a nice snowy shaker card so that’s what I made! My card base is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Garden Green with the On Point Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. To make my shaker I used those Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangles again! I’m a little addicted I think! I cut out a piece of Soft Sky and Window Sheet with one and then used two to cut out a piece of Crumb Cake that I stamped in Soft Suede with the Hardwood Background Stamp. Two pieces of Whisper White are cut out with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Dies and adhered to my Soft Sky base. The trees are from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set and Are stamped in Garden Green for the tree and Encore Gold Metallic for the dots. I used the Tree Punch to punch them out. The bird is from the same set and is stamped din Cherry Cobbler and cut out with my Paper Snips. The tree in the back is adhered with SNAIL and the bird and tree in the foreground are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Some foam tape, doubled, is adhered around the edges of the frame and Martha Stewart Crystal Coarse Glitter is sprinkled generously on the window and then the back adhered. I used a little Fast Fuse to adhere the shaker to the card. Next to it is a piece of Brushed Gold Metallic Card Stock adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set from the 2014 Holiday Supplement and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler on Whisper White and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. A Stampin’ Dimensional holds that to the card too. I put just enough glitter in the shaker to hide the hills but when you tilt it back you get to see them! I hope that you enjoyed my little christmas shaker card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge. I thank you for coming by to catch up with me and I hope that you have a great Monday! 🙂

Justin,
Love the shaker card!! That glitter looks like snow. I love those stitched rectangles too. After seeing you use them, I ordered them last week. Can’t wait to get them. Thanks for sharing. Have a good Monday.
Hi Gerri!
Thank you! I am really loving them at the moment! Those Stitched Rectangles are great! And I thought, hmmm, we don’t have any rectangles and I love the stitching detail so why not! You are going to love them!! You enjoy your Monday too! 🙂
Love the snow . . . on a card I mean! I also like that little bird, which looks great on all cards I’ve seen. Hope your Monday is a good one.
🙂
LOL! Yes, I like the snow on the card just not in the yard! Ha! Thanks Nancy! You have a good Monday too! 🙂
Hi Justin:
Did you use a pencil eraser to stamp the gold dots on the trees? I ask because that is what I have done in the past and the dots fit perfectly. Love this shaker card. I haven’t made a shaker card yet. After a few failed attempts I gave up! LOL You seem to have the technique down perfectly.
Great shot of you and your friends. The waitress did a good job for sure. Looks like it was a nice relaxing day. What kind of “stuff” did you give Andrew for the service engine soon light?
Also wanted to ask why we have to put in our name every time we comment. Never had to do that on the old site. Have a super day! 🙂
Hello Grace!
The stamp set actually comes with a stamp that lets you put all of the dots on the tree at once, although a pencil erase is a great idea! Thanks! I really have been having a good time making all of the shaker cards! Once you get the basic assembly down they are pretty easy! If at first you don’t succeed…
I love seeing my peeps! The picture did come out really great, especially since the sun was behind us. It was a lovely day as is any that i get to spend with my friends.
My dad told me to get this stuff called CataClean for Andrew. It’s expensive but he said that it works. We’ll see!
I’ll have to look into why you have to put your name in every time. I like that you have to enter it once, sometimes people don’t put their names in their profiles, but every time is a little annoying. I hope that you enjoy your day too my friend! 🙂
What a great card, Justin! I haven’t made these, but have at least 4 of my grandchildren I know would LOVE them. Thanks for sharing your creativty. B
Thank you Bernadette! They really aren’t too bad to make, you should give it a try! 🙂
Another shaker, YES! Keep them coming. I love the MS glitter, makes this card. Ithink I need this set, wasn’t impressed when I first saw it.
Any day at a Scrapbook store is a perfect day to me.I am so ready to go scrappin.
Awesome picture
Yup, another shaker! I’m so happy that you are enjoying them Linda! I would have to agree with you, and day spent somewhere crafty is a fun day! 🙂
Another awesome shaker card Justin and a great take on our sketch this week! Looks like you had a fun day with some of my fellow Paper Players – great photo!
Thank you Joanne! I had a very nice time with LeAnne and Sandy! Enjoy the rest of your week! 🙂
Not a comment (although I follow your blog everyday and love the creations) but a question. I will be coming to Manhattan in Dec. and would love to hit the Ink Pad but wondered if the scrapbook store mentioned is the same place. If not, would you mind sharing the name and location with me? Can’t wait to see NYC in it’s Christmas attire.
Thanks Sadie! I appreciate you stopping by! The Ink Pad is in Manhattan, downtown and the Scrapbook store is out on Long Island. You won’t be disappointed with the Ink Pad, they have loads of stuff! The Scrapbook store is called Scrappers Playground and it’s in Babylon. The city is the nicest at Christmas! 🙂
Justin – What a fun card. Great job. Makes my heart sing.
Thank you Lisa! Yay! Hope you had a nice Tuesday! 🙂
Justin, I love this picture with Sandy and LeAnne! How fun that you could get together! I know you had a great time!!!!!
This card is fabulous! I adore every single detail! I love the hardwood frame, the shaker/glitter, the little bird and the embossing! Thank you for joining us at The Paper Players this week! XX
Claire!

Love it, Justin! The Hardwood stitched frame really accents the shaker scene. Thanks for playing with The Paper Players the week!
