I’m still not used to the fact that it’s getting darker earlier. It also doesn’t help that it’s dark when I wake up too! The weather here has been pretty nice, not too cold and sunny, maybe we can keep this for the whole winter?! Work was pretty standard yesterday and when I got home I made my card and then planned my much needed cleanup of the craft area. I have been pretty busy and most of my organization has gone to the wayside. I need to get on top of it before I start forgetting that I have stuff! Do you ever find yourself doing that? You are out looking at stuff and think “oh, I really like that, I think I’ll get it” only to get home and find that you already have it?!?! I guess one good thing about that is if you bought it twice you must have really liked it! LOL!

Before we get to today’s post here are the weekly deals from Stampin’ Up!:

My card for today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch from Julee Tilman…

I wanted to use some of the stuff that I have gotten recently before I forget where I put it, that’s where the wood comes in! My card starts with a base of Early Espresso Card Stock and the background is a piece of Crumb Cake. I used a piece of paper from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack backed with some Early Espresso for my first panel. The second one is a piece of wood sheet that I picked up on my travels on Saturday, it’s also backed with Early Espresso because it’s very thin and it makes the grain stand out a bit more. Across the lower half is a piece of Gold 1/8″ Ribbon tucked behind the Crumb Cake. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Vellum and stamped the JOY from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set in Versa-Mark and heat embossed it in Cherry Cobbler. The tree is from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Garden Green on Crumb Cake and punched out with the Tree Punch. The balls are heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler and I used a Sakura Gelly Roll Gold Pen to go over the lines. A few Stampin’ Dimensionals behind the tree adhere it and the Vellum circle to the card. We all know that I love a little woodgrain so the wood sheet is definitely my favorite part of the card! The other great thing about them is that are thin enough to use with punches or Framelits! Ahhh… the possibilities! I hope that you enjoyed my Holiday card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I love having you stop by to share in my days and I wish you all a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

    1. Thanks so much Melanie! I saw the wood sheets and had to have them! They are nice and thin, can’t wait to see what else I think of for them! Have a wonderful day! 🙂

  1. Beautiful CAS card Justin. You are right, sometimes simple is the best. And right again about wanting/buying the same thing twice. I have a list of my doubles!!! I will have to try to sell them soon. I was curious about those wood sheets and you know what? I think I have something like that!!! I had bought them recently at my fav scrapbooking store when she had a garage sale. Now to find where I put them….LOL Have a great day.

    1. Thanks Louise! I try not to buy doubles but sometimes it happens! I love the wood sheets, so much fun! I loose stuff all the time too! And then when I’m not looking for it there it is! LOL! I hope that you are having a great day!! 🙂

  2. Your card brought an instant smile to my face. I love it when that happens!!! Have a GREAT day Justin!

  3. Hi Justin! Pretty card! Love that wood sheet you used. And love the embossing on the vellum…so pretty. I am really enjoying the Festival of Trees bundle…It’s so versatile. You made me laugh with your story about doubles…I have done that! It’s good to be organized but it doesn’t take long for the creative process to take over and the organization goes out the window! Hard to believe it’s almost Thanksgiving…again. Seems like we just took the Christmas decorations down. Hope your day is going good!

    1. Hello Karen!
Thanks so much! I do like a little woodgrain and vellum don’t I?!?! LOL! The Festival of Trees is great but I’m really enjoying the PL one! It really is hard to keep all of the stuff organized, especially when I keep accumulating more but my space stays the same size! LOL! I can’t believe that the year is almost over! My day is going well and I hope that yours is too! 🙂

  4. love this card, I really wish you would stop enabling! really trying hard to ignore to ignore the Festival of Trees bundle but I keep hearing a faint buy me,buy me,buy me emanating from my catty…and it’s getting louder…

    1. Ha ha! Thank you Lynne! I don’t enable on purpose! And remember, I bought it first! LOL! The Festival of Trees bundle is really great, so many different kinds of trees!! Aww, just do it! LOL! 🙂

  5. LOL…thankfully I have a daughter the “extras” can be given to as a Christmas gift! Your card…love the simplicity. With a different focal point on the same background you could have a great masculine card! Enjoy your nice weather because we’re sending the Bering Sea storm to you 😉 . It’s very cold here in the Rockies and snow covers the home place.

    1. That’s good that you can share your duplicates Colleen! I do love that wood sheet and yes, it will be great for a nice masculine birthday card! Please don’t send the storm, you can keep it, I don’t mind at all if you are selfish with your weather! LOL! 🙂

  6. Awesome creation. At first I thought you ued Bling on the Joy, the embossng is awesome. I love your wood grain panel paper, I always grab that paper when I see it. It is not very common here.

Well that crazy Bering Sea stprm has hit here. No snow thank you, but COLD!!!! Lower 30’s for day time highs, lower 20’s or teens at night. and for a whole week,

    1. Thank you Linda! I love the look of heat embossing and that wood panel is just fun!
Yes, I have heard about that storm, I would appreciate it if you wouldn’t send it this way. Thanks! 🙂

  7. What a great card, Justin. Love all the elements you added. I really have been enjoying Festival of Trees with the matching punch. Even if SU decides to retire it someday, it’s a keeper. I’m hoping to get into my studio to use that sketch today and hope it looks as wonderful as yours.

    1. Thanks so much Bernadette! I agree, love the stamps and the punch! I’m sure that yours will be fabulous! 🙂
