I’m a little late this morning! I had the birthday party last night and I got home a little later than I expected so I decided that I would get up early this morning and make my card. Well, the bed was just a little too comfy again and I didn’t get up as early as I wanted to. Plus, it’s rainy here this morning, in fact it rained from about 5:30 last night. I also wanted to catch up on comments, time just gets away from us sometimes! The party was lots of fun and I finally got to meet Danielle’s boyfriend and he’s a very nice guy. All in all a good Friday spent with fun people!
Today’s post is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…
I really liked the negative die cut tree that I did in the banner a little while ago and wanted to do another one. I thought that it might look neat cut out from a heart so that’s what I did. My card base for today is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock and the background is a piece of Pool Party. I heat embossed some snowflakes from the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and then adhered the background to the card with SNAIL. I cut out two hearts using the Hearts Collection Framelits, one from Pear Pizzaz and one from Cherry Cobbler. The tree cut out is made using the tree from the Snowflake Card Thinlits. I stamped the decorations from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set in Versa-Mark and heat embossed them with Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder. More of the snowflakes are heat embossed on the Cherry Cobbler heart and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it over the Pear Pizzaz one. The greeting is from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on pear Pizzaz and the banner is cut out using one of the dies from the Gift Card Envelope and Trims Thinlits. To finish off the card I threaded some Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine through a Regals Designer Series Button and adhered it with a Glue Dot. I really am enjoying the negative die cuts, they give the card nice depth and it’s a fun change! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. As always, I appreciate you coming by to see what I’m up to and I hope that you have a lovely Saturday! 🙂

Hi! I love the cut out of the middle of the heart. It really adds to the card. Beautiful idea! It’s been damp and rainy here in the Ohio River Valley — hard to get out of a warm, cozy bed, but here I am! I have to go to work putting my summer clothes away and putting winter clothes on the shelves and racks — big job but better than walking around piles in the closet. You have a Happy Day! Nancy B
Hey Nancy!
Thank you! It was rainy here all day yesterday too. I have a lot to do today too, and I slept late again. Ugh! I had a nice day yesterday and hope that you got your stuff done! 🙂

Only you Justin could turn a huge heart into a Christmas card. LOL When I saw the sketch I thought – great – maybe I’ll get some ideas for Valentine’s Day. Then I saw the card and just had to laugh. I love it! I especially love the snowflakes around back and then on the heart itself. Wonderful card for sure! Hugs to you my friend! We are having more ice today – oh joy, oh joy! 🙂
Why thank you Grace! Christmas is love right?! Sorry that you are having more bad weather, we had rain all day yesterday but it’s sunny this morning! XO 🙂
Hi Justin,
Cute card! Oh my goodness! I love it! Love the color combo, everything, i love everything about this card!
Sounds like you had a good time last night. Glad you got to sleep in a bit.
It has been raining here also since last evening. Everyone in my house is sick today, so with it being rainy, it is a good day to cuddle up on the sofa and veg out in front of the tv!
I hope you have a super Saturday my friend!
Donna
Hello Donna!
Thank you! I think that Pool Party might just be my all time favorite color! I slept in again this morning, I don’t enjoy that at all. Too much to do and now not enough time to do it! We had rain all day yesterday too. I had a good Saturday and hope that you enjoyed your TV time! Hugs! 🙂
What a clever idea! The pool party paired up with the other colors you used is growing on me. Very nice card. Hey, make no apologies for sleeping in. Enjoy being warm and snuggly.
Thank you Lisa! I love Pool Party, it goes with so much! I hate sleeping in! Sleep is a waste of time!! LOL! 🙂
Hi there Justin! Love your card—how clever! I wouldn’t have thought to punch the tree from the heart…looks great! And the way you embossed the snowflakes, so pretty! Glad you had a leisurely morning…you need those every now and again. I’ve spent a good part of the day putting things away and organizing my stamp room…it was outta control! Next up is grocery shopping and running a few errands. At least the sun is shining here today. Have a great rest of your day!
Hi Karen!
Thank you! I am really liking the negative dies cuts! I have now had two leisurely mornings, no good! LOL! I need to organize my craft space too, and this sleeping late is not going to help that cause! Hope you had a nice day! 🙂
Hi Justin, what a cute Christmas card! The white embossing looks so good, especially on the pool party! Hope your Saturday is fun, it is Sunday morning already here. I spent my Saturday afternoon writing on my Christmas cards, all done and ready to post – phew, I was beginning to wonder if that would ever happen! Enjoy the rest of your weekend Justin 😉 xx
Hello Kelly!
