It was a rainy day here yesterday all day. We had a movie screening at work for Kings Park, a documentary on the mental institution done by filmmaker Lucy Winer. It was quite interesting and she was a very nice person. You can find out a little bit more about the film HERE. I left work a little early to go and meet up with my friend Sandy so we could drive to Trenton, NJ for the Occasions Catalog and Sale-A-Bration Catalog Reveal. We stopped at a Hobby Lobby on the way, Sandy had never been to one, and we had some SmashBurger for dinner, YUM! The new Catalogs have some really great things in them that you are going to love! I’ll be doing a pre-order on Friday and will hopefully have some new stuff to show you next week! We did get a new Stamp Set and I will try and make a sample using that tomorrow! I got to see my friend Bonnie from the Unite and Excite event. I also got to meet my “blog” friend Donna! Here is a little selfie of us…
I love getting to meet my friends that I talk to all the time on here! I also got to meet Nina, a friend from Stampin Connection! So much fun! 🙂
Today I have my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…
I decided that I wanted to use some colors that I would never normally use. You will have to indulge me a little today! LOL! The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangles Dies to cut out most of the pieces for the card. The background is a piece of Cherry Cobbler that covers the entire card Front. Next up is a piece of Elegant Eggplant on the left and some Crushed Curry on the right. Another piece of Cherry Cobbler adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals is on top of that. My greeting is from the Christmas Bliss Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Crushed Curry. A frame of Elegant Eggplant goes around it and more Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the Cherry Cobbler panel. A very jewel toned card and not colors that I would normally use, but we all need to step outside of our comfort zones every once in a while right?! I hope that you enjoy my unusual card for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch challenge Thanks so much for stopping by and I wish you all a very Nice Thursday! 🙂
Stampin’ Up! products used:

WOW! As interesting as this color combo is, it works well! I am totally going to case this idea!
~M
Really?! Thanks! CASE away Mr. Trent!! 🙂
Nice card, Justin! It’s a different color combo, but it works! I like it! As I watched the catalog kickoff event last night, at one point I was just positive that you already had at least one of the products from the new catalog. Either that or SU has an amazing ability to anticipate one of your great ideas and morph it into the new catalog in less than 24 hours! 🙂
Thank you Melanie! Definitely very different colors, but I like that! The catalog kickoff was fun! I love lots of the stuff, as always! LOL! Which product was that?! 🙂
Hi, I love your cards and I love hearing about your life in New York City. I would love to see NYC one day, I live in Australia. One question, what is the picture of the little piggy on your posts? Thanks again for sharing your lovely cards.
Hello Naomi! Thank you so much! I’m so happy that I get to share so many things and that you appreciate hearing and seeing all I do! NYC Is a great place and I would love to visit Australia, maybe we can switch! The little pig is there to let a friend know that I am thinking of them! Thank you for coming buy and have a great day! 🙂
Justin,
That was you!! I thought so…. I was at the Kickoff in Trenton last night too. I saw you walk by but then lost sight of you before I could introduce myself. It was my the first SU event I had ever been too. It was a lot of fun but I didn’t win anything. I LOVE the new catalog!! I want it all!!!
Oh no!! We were in the same place and missed each other Gerri! Bummer!! The kickoff was fun! I didn’t win anything either, I didn’t at the last one. I love the catalog too and did a huge pre-order yesterday! Spent way too much again! Oops! 🙂
Hi there Justin! I’m sooo jealous that you got to see the new catty last night! Can’t wait for tomorrow. I had a workshop last night so I wasn’t able to attend. Your card is great today! I have to say, I wouldn’t have put those colors together but you’ve made it look so good! I like that Christmas Bliss set…don’t think mine has even seen ink! It’s almost Friday—have a great day!
Hello Karen!
It was fun to get to see it early! Now that you have seen it what’s you’re favorite?! A workshop is a good excuse to miss it! I like an unusual color combo! I have used some sets that I didn’t think I would get much use out of which I always like! 🙂
Whoa! Bright! To me, it’s gaudy, but coming from you, it’s acceptable. I wish that I were a hobby demo, but I just don’t like the “paperwork” rigamarole. I’m not good at figuring things out, but if I were to become a demo, I would be torn between you and my regular demo. I think of you as a celebrity! Are you sure you don’t know Sam Smith personally? After all, you were the one who introduced him to me. I play his “I’m Not the Only One” constantly, and now I find it is a depressing song! You are not a depressing person; just the opposite. You are Happy Hour rolled into the day! Sorry this is so long!! So Taylor gets you your sequins fix! Doesn’t she work at M’s? How exciting that you got to go to the new catty reveal. Looking forward to more ways to spend the money I haven’t saved up yet, but your creations are always so inspiring. I love the displays you’ve been using to showcase your cards. Have a most terrific Thursday! Love ya, Nancy B
Yes Nancy, the card was really bright, not me at all, but I like to change things up and use colors that i normally wouldn’t! Thank you!! I am flattered that you would even think to choose me! I am not a celebrity, although I do wish that I did know Sam, he seems like a fun person! The song is a depressing song but life is like that sometimes. I just really enjoy his voice, he could sing the phone book and I would like it! LOL! I try to be happy all the time but I too get down and it’s nice to know that I’m not alone. Music lets us share things, that’s why I love it so much! Yes, Taylor does work at M’s, but I get most of my sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. I did my pre-order for the new catty yesterday and it will be here on Tuesday! I’m having fun with picture additions but I need to get some more! I hope that you had a nice day! Love ya too! 🙂
I would never believe those colours work together, but they do on your card! Love it as usual, Happy Thursday 🙂
Thank you very much Lynne! I had a good Thursday and hope that you did too! 🙂
Justin, this is such an unusual color combo, but I really really like it! I would never have thought to do this, especially for a Christmas card, but it’s really cool! I love how you have the stitching around those frames. I have not heard of Lawn Fawn… but I’m going to go searching for this die. It sure makes quick work of a stitched piece, without drawing it on or paper piercing! Love it! Merry Christmas…and keep those updates going! I love to hear about your life in NYC and other areas.
Yes Bobbi! I like when you can take a bunch of colors and make it all work! Thank you! The Stitched Rectangles are my current fave! It adds nice detail and makes it really easy indeed! Glad you are along with me every day! 🙂
Hey Justin, the little baubles in this stamp are so cute, and I love the effect of the framelits, think I must buy those soon! I can’t wait to see what you make with the new goodies, when will the catalogue be released? I love the excitement of a new catalogue, sitting down with a cuppa and spending hours flipping pages, making a wish list… Sometimes I think it would be quicker to list the things I don’t want, Lol! Cheers, Kelly xx
Thank you Kelly! I love those Stitched Rectangles! I did my catalog pre-order yesterday! So very soon you’ll get to see some new stuff! LOL! I too love looking through the catalog over and over! I agree that it’s easier to list what you don’t want! 🙂
Such a fresh and unique color combo and a fabulously crisp design. Thanks for playing along with Mojo Monday!
Thanks so much Julee! I hope that you have a great week! 🙂
