That was a long Sunday! It was snowing huge flakes in the morning. I got to the train and it was 15 minutes late and it felt like I waited forever for a subway, 20 minutes to be exact! I got off the subway at 63rd and Lexington and stopped at Starbucks to get a coffee. I spent a nice long morning with my friend Isabella. I love seeing her, she is such a great person and so much fun to spend time with. After that I went to see my friends Julia and Ramsay! Always fun to see them and their two girls. I headed back to Penn Station around 6:15 and got the 6:51 to Hicksville. Dad picked me up and I finished my laundry and had some dinner. When I came home I sat down and made my card for today. I did snap a picture of my parent’s backyard in the morning, you can see how huge the snowflakes are!
They were more like snowballs! LOL! It did get sunny in the afternoon and it wasn’t too cold. All in all a very nice way to spend a Sunday! I hope that your weekend was as good as mine!
Now on to my card for today, it’s for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge from my clever friend Sandy…
I just had to dig out an old favorite of mine for this card! The base for today’s card is Night of Navy Card Stock. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out the front and drew around it with my Gold Gelly Pen before I removed the Framelit. The greeting is from the Hello Life Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum. I used one size larger of the Circles Collection Framelits to cut it out and then a little 2-Way Glue adheres it to the back of the front panel. The image on the banner is from the same set and is also heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with one of the elements from the Gift Card Envelope and Trims Thinlits. My feather is from the “Vintage” Four Feathers Stamp Set and again is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with the Feathers Framelits. Some 2-Way glue adheres the banner and feather to the card. A little Hemptique Natural Hemp Twine tied in a bow and adhered with a Glue Dot completes the card. Oh how I have missed my feathers! LOL! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge from Sandy! Thanks so much for taking some time to stop by and catch up! Have a marvelous Monday everyone! 🙂

Super card, Justin! I love how you drew around the framelit with a gel pen, and of course all of that delicious vellum embossed in gold. So glad you played along with my sketch challenge!
Thank you very much Sandy! Great sketch! 🙂
The feathers are back! The feathers are back! The feathers are back! So good to see them again! I do love that Night of Navy card stock. It looks almost like velvet and is so very “regal”. The saying is one of my favorites and I say that all the time but add “while you can”. Super duper card today Justin and one that anyone would be thrilled to have.
Glad you had fun in Manhattan yesterday despite the few little snowflakes. Yes, I know you said they were huge but I’m talking accumulation amounts not actual size! LOL It sounds like a great way to spend a Sunday. Hey – what’s up with Andrew lately? He is overdue for making a card.
Have yourself a Marvelous Monday. No snow here today for a change but boy, the temperatures dropped like a brick last night and I am going to put off shopping until I decide I won’t freeze to death walking across these windy parking lots! Instead I’ll try to design an Easter card I’m happy with today. Hugs to you my friend! 🙂
LOL! Yes Grace!! I missed them! I too am a big fan of Night of Navy, a nice rich color!
I did have a good day! The snowflakes were more like snowballs! I do like the city, it was a bit slushy but I had my boots on so I didn’t care! Andrew has a girlfriend and we all know what happens. He is also in school and doing his internship. A very busy boy!
My Monday was pretty good. It was really cold here today but sunny. If we could get rid of the wind I think I would be ok. I think that the card making is a much better idea! Big warm hugs to you! XOXO 🙂
I don’t know what I like more…the cards you post daily, or the beautiful accessories you picture them with!!!!
Thank you so much Ellen! I’m glad that you enjoy both aspects of the pictures! 🙂
Hey there Justin! Happy Monday! Love your card today. Yay for the return of the feathers! I do love gold with any of the blues, but this looks very rich. I love that saying too! Great picture of the snow coming down too. Those snowflakes do look huge! I agree with Grace…we’ve been missing Andrew! Maybe once he reads all of our comments he’ll be “guilted” into making a card. Just kiddin’ ya Andrew! Have a great rest of your day!
Hello Karen,
It was a pretty good Monday! Thank you! I know, I missed the feathers too! LOL! The card does have a rich look to it! Yes, the snowflakes were huge! I would like to never see snow of any size ever again! LOL! I miss Andrew too, between school, his internship and his new girlfriend he is a busy boy! He’ll be back! I hope that you had a nice day! 🙂
These are such rich colors, like others have said. Very elegant with a wonderful message. I too, really like the way you outlined the circle with gold, what a cool touch that adds so much!
Glad you had an awesome Sunday 🙂
Thank you Jill! Yes, they are nice and rich! Love the Night of Navy especially with Gold, but I like Gold with most anything! The greeting is fantastic indeed! I hope that your Sunday was great too! 🙂
Good morning Justin – love that snowy photo! Just so pretty! Days like these your parents must wonder why they got a swimming pool!?! Beautiful card today – the feather looks cool, and all the gold embossing makes it all look very posh 😉 Your Sunday sounded very full and fun – except for the waiting around in the cold… Hope your Monday is awesome! Cheers Justin xoxo 🙂
Hi Kelly!
You can have that snow picture! LOL! And all the snow that goes with it! Yes, I don’t think that the swimming poll was even opened last year. No one really goes in it. Thank you! I did miss the feathers! My Sunday was great despite the cold. My Monday was good, hope that yours was too! XOXO 🙂
This sketch challenge was just made for your card and you rocked it!! I am so impressed that you heat emboss onto vellum – I am so not brave enough to do it but may just have to give it a try. Love your card! Thank you for playing along with the Paper Players sketch challenge this week.
Thank you so much Debbie! The die was definitely perfect for the sketch! I love to heat emboss on Vellum, I find it easier than on card stock. I hope that you have a wonderful week! 🙂
Love this, Justin! Your color combo of gold and blue is so striking! And I’ll bet Sandy added that feather to her sketch just for you! Thanks for sharing this with us at the Paper Players this week!
Thank you very much LeAnne! I think that she did add the feather subconsciously! LOL! I wish you a great week and stay warm! 🙂
Awesome creation as usual, Love the gold embossing on velum, and the circle around the framelite, nice touch.
Oh that picture just makes me cold… -8 today driving to work. I’ve been cold all day, no warm up in sight. Oh well… eventually spring will come
Thanks so much Linda! Yes, the snow was not fun! You know just hoe it is too though! I hate when you get that internal cold that you can’t get rid of! Spring better get here soon! I need to put the top down in the car!! 🙂
Justin, I love the navy and gold – what a great combination. Fabulous take on the sketch. So glad you joined us at the Paper Players this week
Jaydee
Thank you very much Jaydee! Have a lovely weekend! 🙂
