Today is my Dad’s Birthday so Happy Birthday Dad! He truly is one of the best Dad’s that you could ever have! If something needs to be fixed he can do it. My friends refer to him as McGuyver or as my cousin calls him Super Danny! He once fixed my car remote with a gum wrapper, not kidding! Happy Birthday Dad!
I had a very nice day yesterday, I went to lunch with my friend Sue, we went to SmashBurger. They have really good food there, especially the fried pickles and the sweet potato fries, they are nice and crispy! After lunch we went to Michaels and then came back to my house and I finally got to do the fun technique that I promised to share with you. Gold foil is very in right now and it’s super simple to do. You might even have all the equipment that you need already. I found an image of sheet music online and printed it out with my laser printer. Then I took some of the gold foil, mine is form iCraft and is called Deco Foil. I put it on top if the printed sheet and then placed it inside a piece of printer paper and ran it though my laminator. When it comes out it looks like this…
How cool is that?! All of the foil sticks to the toner! You need a laser printer, it won’t work with an ink-jet because you need the toner. I think it’s a really cool look and you can foil anything that you can print! I’ll definitely be using this more!
So today’s card is actually for my Dad! I started off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock. A piece of Hemptique Black Hemp Twine is tied in a bow around the middle. Then I adhered the gold foiled sheet music to the base. The greeting is from the Balloon Bash Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum. I used the Ovals Collection Framelits to cut it out and adhered it to the card with a few pieces of Clear Foam Tape. A super simple card but the gold foil sheet music gives it lots of impact! I hope that you enjoyed my birthday card for my Dad and the fun simple technique! Thank you very much for coming by today! I wish you all a simple Sunday! I’m off to Manhattan for a bit to see some friends! 🙂

Amazing technique! Amazing card! Happy birthday to Justin’s Dad!
Thanks so much Brian!! Thanks for the Birthday wishes for Dad too! 🙂
Absolutely beautiful!! Your Dad will love it.
Thank you Gerri! He did like it, he said wow that’s pretty cool! 🙂
Happy Birthday, McGuyver!! Justin, my dad can also fix anything, although in very unconventional ways! Their dryer quit, and he fixed it by installing a little box on the side with a light switch! It was hilarious. Flip the switch and the dryer would begin to turn. LOL
I love this card! The gold foil is beautiful, and your dad is gonna love it!
Jeanne
LOL! Thanks for the Birthday wishes for Dad Jeanne! Isn’t it great the way that Dad’s can do that?!?! Clever fix for the dryer!
Thank you! I love the foil, it’s so different from embossing! He did love it! 🙂
Hi Justin! What a gorgeous card! Your Dad will love it! You have some of those same qualities as your Dad does…my goodnesss—look how creative you are! So the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. This is just stunning actually! Have a great time in the city, enjoy your day!
Hello Karen!
Thank you! He did love it! Aww, thanks so much! I like to think that I got some of my creativity from him! Glad that you like the card and the city was… snowy! 🙂
Your Dad will be wowed by this absolutely stunning card. Happy Birthday to your Dad! Enjoy the celebration.
Dad really liked the card Marty! Thank you! 🙂
Beautiful card Justin. Happy Birthday to your Super Dad!
Amazing technique… did you use a “hot” laminator? I have to try this. I imagine it will work the same with silver foil…. Have a good Sunday and don’t eat all the BDay cake. LOL
Thank you so much Louise! He really is a super dad! Yes, it will work with any of the transfer foils! I had a nice day! Hope yours was a good one too! 🙂
beautiful special card for your dad!
Thank you so much Jodi! 🙂
Happy Birthday Mr. Krieger! Wishing you a fabulous day.
What a terrific card for your Dad Justin. I just know he is going to love it. That is quite a technique you are using for the foiling. Now I wish I had a laser printer and a laminator. Your stamping gallery must be really big to have all that plus all your supplies plus all your little photo goodies! Of course we are all drooling at the way you emboss on vellum. Just gorgeous.
So – you’re off to the city today! Hopefully the sun is shining there like it is here. Still far from warm but we all just love seeing the sun instead of the dreary cloudy days we have been having for months. I hope this means you will have a spectacular Sunday filled with fun and birthday celebrations for your Dad. We will have a quiet day watching the race in Atlanta on television and looking for Brian in the crowd. I doubt Brian is a race fan but hey, you never know who you will see out there. LOL
Thank you Grace, I will pass along you Birthday wishes!
Thank you again! He really did like it, he said that gold was really neat! It’s not all in the Stampin’ Galley, it is all over! LOL! I do love my Vellum!
Yes, I had a good day in the city! It was not sunny and actually was blizzard like as I made my way back to Penn! I would like a quiet day! I’m pretty sure that Brian was in the Fungeon all day! LOL! I hope that you enjoyed your race! 🙂
Happy Birthday, Dad! The card is gorgeous! Okay, what piece of music did you use? After the tutorial on the foil process, the directions for your card are the shortest I think you have ever done! The Washi tape and ribbon are perfect accompaniments for the card. All in all, a great post. Have a good one and eat some cake for me…Nancy B
Thank you for the Birthday wishes Nancy! I’m glad that you enjoyed the card! LOL! Yes, it was quite simple after the foil, I didn’t want to add too much to it! So happy that you enjoyed the whole post! YAY! 🙂
OMG that technique is amazing, really beautiful. I love gold in paper crafting, metalics make anything elegant or vintagy. Your Dad will love this card, it is beautuful. Happy Day!
Thank you Linda! It’s a nice easy way to get a really cool look! I agree with you, metallics make everything better! Dad did really like the card! 🙂
Great card Justin. . . .want to also add to your many comments that you always have the greatest props next to your cards that really enhance the esthetic appeal of your lovely cards.
Gorgeous card, Justin-what a wonderful technique! (To Mr. Krieger: “Quite a son you have there, sir! Have a great BD!).
Thank you Georgie! I can’t wait to do some more foiling! Thank you! I’ll pass along your Birthday wishes! 🙂
Thank you so much Loralee! I think that the props make it a little more interesting and I’m glad that you agree! 🙂
Beautiful card, but is it gold or is it black? It looks blue and black to me. LOL!!
Ha ha! Funny Mary Alice! 🙂
Morning Justin, and Happy Birthday to your Dad! Hope he has a fantastic day! Is little Daniel named after your Dad? 🙂 Wow, his card is really something special, you’ve outdone yourself! Love the gold foil, amazing! Is this the third weekend in a row you have visited Manattan? Would you consider moving into the city, or would you rather stay out of it? It’s already Monday morning here – I’m sure they come around more frequently than Friday nights!?! Enjoy the rest of your weekend Justin, cheers xoxo 😀
Hey Kelly!
Thanks for the Birthday wishes! He was a happy man, he got a new TV! Yes, Daniel is named after my dad and granddad! I’m happy that you liked the card too! It’s the second weekend, I think, although you may be right! I like living on Long Island, if I move it will be someplace warm! I had a good weekend and hope that you had a nice Monday! 🙂
Happy Birthday Mr. Justin’s Dad!!!
the faux embossing/ fusing technique is to die for!
Thank you Eva, I’ll let him know!
The foiling is fun! 🙂
I can’t believe the card that you turned that foil music sheet into!!! Absolutely awesome and great job! I love it! and Happy Birthday to your Dad! Hope he has a wonderful day and many more!!!
LOL! Thank you so much Sue! I’ll pass along your Birthday wishes! XO 🙂
Wow! That it’s definitely a technique to file away. It came out beautifully and so did the rest of your card 😉 Love the simple elegance.
I’m also wishing your father a Happy Birthday! I’m so glad he loved your card, that makes your heart smile doesn’t it 🙂

Such a *gorgeous* card, Justin! Great technique, too!!! Thanks so much for sharing that. Such a wonderful design that’s masculine, too, that speaks to the joy that you and your Dad share in your relationship. Beautiful all the way around! Glad he enjoyed the card.
Thank you very much El! My dad is one of the most amazing people I know! 🙂
