Oh yes! Happy Friday to you all! I have had a good week so no complaints here! I stopped home last night and picked up Taylor and we headed over to Scrap-A-Latte to get all of the prep for tonight’s class done. I really do love spending time with Renee, she’s a funny lady and we always have a good laugh! We even Skyped with Andrea for a bit. I couldn’t leave there without picking up some stuff so I got some goodies from the Prima Butterfly line, some Blue Fern Studios Chip Board and some stuff from My Minds Eye Fancy That line. On the way home we stopped at Michaels to pick up some basic card making supplies for Taylor. She wants her own stuff, she has really gotten into card making lately and is even thinking of starting a blog soon! WOW! That would be pretty cool! She made some cards this week and I wanted to post them here but she said that she wants to post them on her blog. Taking after her old man! Here are the two of us in the car with the top down on the way to see Renee…
So today is an extra great Friday because it’s a Fab Friday and here is our sketch challenge…
I don’t know why, maybe because I like the stamp set so much, but I have been in a wedding card mood lately! Today’s card uses a base of Whisper White Card Stock and the front is covered with a piece of Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper. The panel is a piece of Basic Black that I heat embossed the Hardwood Background Stamp on it in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I heat embossed the greeting from the Your Perfect Day Photopolymer Stamp Set in Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder on Vellum and adhered it on the back of the panel. Some Fun Foam is used as a backing and some SNAIL adheres it to the card. A piece of Sahara Sand that I flagged is tucked under the bottom. I tore off a small strip of the Stacked with Love Designer Washi Tape and put it on a piece of Whisper White. The edges are trimmed with my Paper Snips and some Foam Tape holds it in place. I wanted my button to match the greeting so I used the Little Pieces Embosslit to cut out some whisper white and heat embossed it with more Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder. That too is adhered to the Washi Tape with some Foam Tape. Finally some Hazel & Ruby The Makery Shine & Sparkle Sequins and some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins are adhered to the embossed woodgrain to break it up a bit. Another simple card that would be a great wedding one. I think that the black on black woodgrain has a fun look to it! I hope that you enjoyed my card for the Fab Friday sketch challenge! Before you go take a quick hop over the blog and see what the rest of talented teammates have done with the sketch! Thanks for sharing some of your Friday with me, have a fab one! 🙂

I always love the creative ways you use vellum. This is a pretty card and worthy of copying. Happy Friday!
Thank you very much Linda! I do love Vellum! Hope that you had a nice Friday! 🙂
Another beautiful card. I love the way the curly of the C ends up in two hearts. I mean really – could it get any sweeter? I would never have thought to use the Hardwood background stamp on a wedding card but it looks fantastic. Having the central piece of card stock just a bit right of center was brilliant and the few little sequins were the perfect touch. All in all I’d give this card a 15 when the rating was 1-10.
Thanks for the photo of you and Taylor in the car with the top down. She has such amazingly flawless skin and beautiful hair. I think it’s just wonderful that you two get to spend so much time together. Normally young girls are so busy with friends and “significent” others that spending time with their parents is put aside. I also think that her wanting to set up her own stamping blog is just fantastic. You go Taylor!
Friday is housework day at our home. Not much fun but hey, it’s got to get done right? Enjoy your stamp class tonight and be sure to share the cards you make with us. I wish we still had a stamping shop with classes near us. I miss that. Love to you my friend! 🙂
Thank you so much Grace! I like the two little hearts in the greeting too, little details make a big difference! I definitely can say that the Hardwood Stamp is probably my favorite! You can use it on so many different projects!
I’m lucky that Taylor and I get to spend as much time together as we do! Most kids don’t want to spend time with their parents, but we have a lot in common so that helps. I’m looking forward to her blog!
I need to have a housework day too! Either that or just try and do some here and there. Stamp class was so much fun as usual! Love that I get to do it! Love you too! XOXO 🙂
Hi Justin! A gorgeous card! Love the way you heat embossed the black and then layered the heat embossed vellum over the top. Just gorgeous! Love this pic of you and Taylor! And how wonderful that you and her can spend time together. She’s a beautiful young woman! Can’t wait to follow her on her blog! 😉 Have a great day!
Hey Karen!
Thank you! The Vellum is a great way to make the sentiment stand out without taking too much away from the card. Taylor is the best kid anyone could wish for, I’m so lucky that I get to spend as much time with her as I do. I can’t wait for her to start her blog! Hope that you enjoyed your Friday! 🙂
Love the picture of you and Taylor! Another one to frame. It is WONDERFUL having Spring!!!!!! Great card, love how you embossed the wood. Be sure to share the goodies you bought. I stopped at Michaels on the way home but restrained myself, just bought tape
Thank you Linda! Taylor is very photogenic! I am so enjoying the weather! Glad that you like the card! I got lots of Reverse Confetti! Can’t wait to play with that! Just tape?! Boy you did restrain yourself! 🙂
Hi Justin!
Your daughter is so pretty! You are so lucky that you share an interest in the same hobby. I hope you will post a link to her blog when she starts one.
Love this card! Embossing the button embosslit was genius!! A silver button without the weight. And as always, I love the silver & black and vellum. Classy wedding card!
Enjoy your weekend. I have yet another bridal shower tomorrow. That’s 3 in the past month. I do enjoy them though. And this should be the last for a long time.
Hello Gerri!
Thanks! I really do love the time that we get to spend together! I definitely will post a link to her blog when she gets it up and running!
It’s funny, I have had that Embosslit for so long and I think that’s the first time I have used it! Glad that you like the card!
You have had a lot of bridal showers! Maybe I’m channeling your wedding vibes with all of the cards lately! LOL! 🙂
Yes, the weddings will be following, so I need your inspiration! 🙂
LOL! I’m happy to provide you with inspiration Gerri! 🙂
Man Justin, I miss our convertible!!! Beautiful blue Mustang with a white rag top….You know sometimes a sunroof really doesn’t cut it, lol 😉 I hope I can be as close to my kids as you are with Taylor when they get older. Have fun making your blog Taylor!!!
Your card has such different details that really make it shine. I like the way the black embossed wood-grain shows up, it makes it a total shabby chic card! The embossed button – total cool factor here. I’m going to start doing that now. Another Justin influence, heehee! At least this one won’t hurt the budget 😉 Thanks for the great idea 😀
I do love my car Jill! I had wanted a convertible for the longest time and I do always have the top down in the summer! I love the relationship that Taylor and I have! I’m one lucky dad!
Thank you! Sometimes the littlest details can make all the difference! Glad that I could give you an inexpensive idea! Have a great day! 🙂
