Paper Craft Crew 146

Wednesday already! I like having Monday’s off! LOL! Today was another nice day, lots of sun and a little breeze. My day was pretty good, work wasn’t terrible, I got to drive home with the top down, my favorite way to end the work day! I came home and had some dinner and then retreated to the Stampin’ Galley to make a card. I ran out to Target quick to get a few things, I love that it’s open until midnight! Not a bad day at all!

Today I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew big for this week’s sketch challenge…

PCCCS146 DT Sketch 5-27-2015

I wanted to use some new goodies and do a little watercoloring, it’s been a while since I have done that! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb. I stamped the Hardwood Background Stamp on a piece of Whisper White with Sahara Sand Ink. Some Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine is spattered on the panel and it’s adhered to the card with SNAIL and Fun Foam. I heat embossed the flower from the NEW You’ve Got This Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder twice. The watercoloring is done with So Saffron and Old Olive Ink and a wet brush. I cut out one with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circle Dies and the flower with my Paper Snips. Some Foam Tape adheres the flower to the circle and more SNAIL and Fun Foam adhere the circle to the card. A few butterflies from the Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set are heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and punched out with the Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly Punches. I colored the back of the with a Copic Y35 Marker and the used Kool Tak Clear Foam Tape to adhere them to the circle. My greeting is a piece of So Saffron and Neenah Solar White 80lb cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Thanks Die. I adhered the two die cuts together with Ranger Multi-Matte Medium and then adhere it to the card with Foam Tape. I love the soft look of the watercolored flower and cool gold butterflies against the Hardwood Background! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge! Don’t forget to visit the blog and see the rest of the Design Team’s projects! Thanks so much for visiting me today! Have a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

  5. Good Morning Justin:

I’m back and will be playing catch up with your posts. However, first of all, this card is simply magnificent! Your embossed flower filled with water color is eye catching and the butterflies could not have been placed more beautifully. You manage to use that hardwood stamp in so many wonderful ways. My mind limits it’s use to masculine cards but your creative use of it is really helping me to “expand my horizons” a bit. Thank you for helping me do that.

I had an amazing trip and the time went by way too fast. I did miss seeing your posts every day – I equate it to getting up in the morning and not having that first cup of coffee! Missed you lots. Have yourself a Wonderful Wednesday! Hugs – 🙂

  8. I love your card! This flower set is the first one on my order for the new catalog. I can’t get over how beautifully you use vellum and gold embossing powder. Thanks for sharing your ideas! Beware of rain! Is it coming your way? We have had powerful bursts and big winds. No top down for you…have a dry one! Nancy B

    1. Thank you Nancy! I love that flower, it just begs to be watercolored! You know how I love a little heat embossed Vellum! Thankfully the rain missed us! 🙂

  10. Hey Justin, you really could make cards for a living you know – you could retire early and craft all day, every day! Work just gets in the way of everything, doesn’t it!?! This is such a professional looking card, the little touches you add, like the gold ‘splatters’ set it off perfectly. The rose is gorgeous too! I better start getting ready for work, I was up very late helping my daughter with her maths homework – ugh, I wasn’t great at maths the first time around, lol! Hope your day is great Justin 🙂 xoxo
    Oh, and welcome back Grace!
