What a gorgeous day! It was sunny with a slight breeze, just perfect! I spent the day crafting and going outside to sit and enjoy the weather. A nice relaxing day. My mum and dad went out to see my brother, Erika and Daniel. Erika took my mum and her mum out to dinner. I Skyped with Eva for a bit and then Taylor and I ran to Target to pick up some essentials. Taylor is watching Ink Masters on the Apple TV and they did inside the mouth tattoos… YUK! Another reason that I don’t watch much TV! How was your day? I hope that all of the Mums had a lovely day spent with their families doing everything for them while they crafted the day away!
I can’t believe that it’s Monday already, but it does mean that it’s time for this week’s Paper Players. Before I show you this week’s challenge I want to thank Laurie for choosing me as her headliner for last week’s challenge! You can see the winners post HERE and my original post HERE. Now for this week’s challenge…
Fun colors! I played with some more new goodies! My card base Neenah Solar White 110lb For the background I used a new to me die from Memory Box called Starry Night Background, it’s cut out of Sahara Sand, backed with some Lost Lagoon and then adhered to the base with SNAIL. My tag is a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Large Tags Dies. I stamped the greeting from the Simon Says Stamp Hand Lettered Encouragement in Lost Lagoon. A piece of Pistachio Pudding Thick Baker’s Twine is tied through the top and the the tag is adhered with a piece of Fun Foam in between. The branch, bird and leaves are cut from Soft Suede and Pistachio Pudding using the Simon Says Stamp Songbird Branch Die. The branch is tucked under the tag and the the bird is adhered with a piece of Foam Tape. Some of the stars and sequins from the 2013-2015 In-Color Designer Sequins are adhered around the card for a little shine. I love that starry background, so much fun and the sentiment is just great! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge. Thanks for coming by today, have the bast Monday that you can! 🙂

Oh my gosh Justin! I am ga ga over the card you made for your Mother! It is one of the most beautiful cards I’ve seen in a while. It’s definitely a WOW card and I just know she will cherish it forever. I would put it in a small frame and set it by my computer so that I could see it every day! Can you tell I just love it? LOL
Can you explain why you use two different weights in card stock and the reasoning behind that decision? I think that would be helpful for all of us. I just checked the SU card stock and according to the packaging it is 80 weight. Is the 110 cover stock and if so, isn’t it a bit heavy for card making or am I way off base here?
The starry die is gorgeous! I really like the way you also embellished the card with some star sequins. You really are a fabulous card maker Justin and I agree that plane card was a winner for sure.
Have yourself a Magical Monday. We are do for some much needed rain. We have been under a “HIGH” fire warning here and I’d like to see that go away. That’s a scary thing when you are surrounded by lots of trees.
I was so excited about your card for you Mum that I spelled due wrong and hit send before I sent you a hug! 🙂
LOL! He he! Well, thanks for the hug too Grace! Here’s one right back to you! XOXO 🙂
Woo hoo! Thank you so much Grace! She did like the card! I had fun with all of the die cuts and the Wink of Stella! It will go with her collection of card from me! She has quite a few! I really am glad that you liked it so much!!
I like to use the 110lb for the base because it’s nice and sturdy, the 80lb is heavy enough for the rest, I think that the 110lb would be overkill for the stamping, just a personal preference! The Stampin’ Up! Whisper White is supposed to be 80 but it feels more like 65 to me. It’s great to stamp on but it’s a little too thin. The 110 I guess could be considered cover stock. I really like it for bases and I think that you will find that there will be another White Card Stock in the new catty!
I love that Starry Night Background! So much fun and of course it needed some sequins! LOL! I really appreciate that Grace! You always make me smile!
I had a good day, lovely weather again. I would think that a high fire warning would be scary where you are. I hope that you get your rain! XOXO 🙂
Mum’s card is awesome, I really have a die fettish, you can always create beautiful diferent embellishments. I love your challenge card, that sentiment is really on the mark. I need to put that st on my wish list.
Thanks so much Linda! I am a little obsessed with dies too! The sentiment on the other card is great and I love the handwriting! 🙂
A beautiful card for your Mum with lovely colours. I must have a look at Simon Says stamps as not a brand I know here but like the ones you use. The Paper Players card you have done is very cute too and another nice colour combo from them.Glad you had a fun weekend and spent time in Stampin Galley!
It would be great to meet up if you come over in September, if you like of course! Keep me posted! Michelle xo
Thank you very much Michelle! I am pretty sure that you can get Simon Says Stamp shipped to you, but I will warn you they take forever to ship here so I can only imagine how long it would take for you to get it! I did love the colors from the Paper Players this week and anytime that I spend in the Stampin’ Galley is a good time!
Yes! I would love to meet up! We will make it happen!! Can’t wait! XOXOXO 🙂
Hey Justin, I bet your Mum loved that card, it’s beautiful! Today’s card is cool too, love those stars! And yesterday’s birch tree card is gorgeous – I don’t think you need to wait for Christmas to use them 🙂 I’m with Taylor, I LOVE watching tattoo shows! We have Ink Masters, my favourite was Miami Ink. I don’t have a tattoo and would not get one, but I love watching them being done because they are so clever! Inside the mouth is a bit much though… I hope you have a great day Justin 😀
Hello Kelly!
Yes, she did love the card! It had her favorite, butterflies! I’m happy that you have been enjoying the rest of the cards too! I have tattoos so I know the process quite well, but the inside the mouth thing was too much!! I hope that you enjoyed your Monday! 🙂
I loved your Mum’s card. It is so bright, colorful and cheery. I’m sure she loved it too.
Thanks very much HJ! She did love it! 🙂
Justin,
Both of these cards are beautiful!! I LOVE the sentiment on the first card. I may have to get that set.
The die cuts on both are so pretty.
Hi Gerri!
Thank you very much! I love the sentiment too, there are lots of great one in that set! I have been really into dies cuts lately! 🙂
