We had a very wet and windy Wednesday! Say that fast a few times! LOL! I did spend a lot of the day indoors. I watched TV and crafted and thought about straightening up… that unfortunately didn’t happen. There is always today for that… or not! I ordered myself four new tires from TireRack.com, thanks Andrea for the suggestion. They should be here today and hopefully I will be able to find somewhere to install them! I did need new tires and I’m glad that I got the flat here instead of in Manhattan! See, there is a bright side to everything! Oh, before I forget I was reading Jennifer McGuire’s blog the other day and she linked to a story that I think all of you should read! The video isn’t really relevant but the article describes what we have all known for a long time! Click HERE to take a look!
My card for today’s post is for this week’s Paper Players challenge…
Guess what came yesterday… my Simon Kit! Couldn’t wait to play with that so I didn’t! The card base for today is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I dug in the archives and found some Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper and decided that would make a nice background for my pie! The circle is cut from some Kraft Card Stock with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circles Dies and adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. I stamped the apple, pie and greeting on Solar White 80lb, the apple and pie in Memento Tuxedo Black and the banner with the greeting in Simon Says Stamp Stone and Black Ink. Some coloring in of the apple and pie with my Copics before adding some Ranger Rock Candy Distress Glitter to the top of the pie and Glossy Accents to the filling and apple before cutting them out with my Paper Snips and adhering them and the greeting to the circle with Foam Tape. To balance it out I added a few Pretty Pink Posh Raspberry, Marshmallow and Sparkling Clear Sequins around the images. Doesn’t that apple and pie look good enough to eat with the “sugar” and Glossy Accents?! LOL! I Hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge! I had fun making the card and I thank you for coming by to check it out! Have an amazing Thursday peeps! 🙂

O.K. Justin – this is just too weird! I plan on making apple pies today! I mean really, how connected can two people be? LOL Anyway, this card actually made me hungry so after finishing my comment I’m heading straight for the kitchen. I absolutely love the way you added the “sugar” to the pie crust and the glaze to the pie filling. It certainly took that piece of pie to a new level! Can you smell it baking in the oven? Enough, I have to run, I’m starving. You have yourself a Terrific Thursday and go get some apple pie. Love ya, XO 🙂
Yay! I love it when that happens Grace! I would love to try one of your apple pies, I’ll bet they are delicious! The card had the desired effect! LOL! I can definitely smell it baking! I hope that you had fun with your pies! Enjoy the day! XOXO 🙂
Ack! Your kit came? Mine is nowhere in sight. I hope it comes today! Super cute card. The gingham background gives the perfect country feel.
LOL! Yes, my kit came… before you?! That doesn’t usually happen Sandy! Thank you! I needed to find the paper, it was in my head as soon as the kit arrived! 🙂
Very, very nice! Can’t go wrong with gingham! I read the article on crafting, and I’ve said for years it’s both an addiction and a therapy!
Thank you R! I think that the paper makes a nice tablecloth! Yes, the article is very true, glad that we already knew it! 🙂
Cute, a definate CAS. My kit came yesterday also, weekend playtime. and i agree heck about cleaning
Thanks Linda! Have fun with your kit! I really do need to clean, it looks like a bomb went off in here! 🙂
Hey Justin, this apple pie looks real enough to eat! What a cute card! Sounds like there is some serious crafting weather heading your way, too wet to leave the house – what a shame 😉 I can’t believe all the colours of sequins you got the other day! How do you store them? Well, it’s my favourite time of the week – Friday night! We don’t have TGI Fridays here – we had Kentucky Fried Chicken instead. We’re about to watch the original Psycho movie, which I bought because we saw where it was made at Universal Studios but we have never actually seen the movie! Hope you have a great weekend Justin 😀 xoxo
Hi Kelly!
Yay! I wanted the pie to look as real as possible! Thank you! LOL! Yes, I don’t mind a rainy day every once in a while! I love all of the sequins! I use the Craft Mate Lockables to store them. I enjoy KFC every once in a while, they have the best coleslaw! I have never seen Psycho and I’m ok with that! LOL! Hope you enjoyed the movie and that you too have a great weekend! XOXO 🙂
Love this, Justin! Perfect seasonal card, lovely country feel to it and your coloring is bright and fun! LOVE the sequins and shine, too! So happy that you played with my sketch this week at the Paper Players!
Thank you LeAnne! Love the apples and the pie! Have a super weekend! 🙂
Adorable adorable card, Justin! You did such a great job with our design challenge at The paper Players! Love what you did with it – and who doesn’t love apple pie! 🙂 YUM! Especially on a gingham “tablecloth” – American at its best! 🙂
Thanks so much Jodi! You can almost smell the pie! LOL! 🙂
