Yesterday was my friend Heather’s Grandfather’s funeral. The service was in Valley Stream and I went with Brian. It was a lovely service to remember a very nice man. I had only had the pleasure of meeting him a few times but on those occasions he was always smiling. The priest said that you should think of the times that you got to see him and remember what stands out most in your mind, for me that was him smiling. From there we went to the National Cemetery for the Air Force ceremony. I have never been to a military service and it was quite interesting to see. No matter when you hear TAPS played, especially on a single trumpet in the rain, it’s sad. But I can still see him smiling. After the service Brian and I had lunch and then I came home and stopped by parent’s to see Daniel, he can always make you smile too! I spoke to Andrea for a bit and then Taylor came over and we went to the mall so she could get some shoes. We stopped at IKEA and I got a few Christmas decorations and then came back home, spoke to Andrew for a bit and crafted before calling it a night.
I haven’t played along with the Pals in a while but when I saw this weeks’ sketch a card popped into my head so I had to participate…
It’s a very clean and simple card but was fun to make! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. My background is another piece of Solar White 110lb, I wrapped some DMC Gold Thread around the bottom and then adhered the background to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. TheΒ tree is from the Hero Arts Joy to the World Photopolymer Stamp Set (I have been using that a lot lately!) and is heat embossed in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder on Canson 140b Cold Press Watercolor Paper. I used the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a wet paintbrush to color in the tree. It’s cut out with Paper Snips and adhered to the card with more Fun Foam and SNAIL. The merry is cut from a piece of Craft Smart Holiday Foil 6×6 Paper with the Simon Says Stamp Deco Tree Craft Dies and is adhered to the tree with Multi-Matte Medium. A few Pretty Pink Posh Christmas and Seattle Mix Sequins scattered across the front complete the card. I love the heat embossed and watercolored images, the variation in color is so cool! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge! Thank you for visiting today! Have a super Saturday! π

Hi Justin:
Love this card. You have the gold cord perfectly spaced! I like a card with white space. For instance in your card it makes the green “tree” really pop and the gold Merry and sequins are just enough. Absolutely beautiful.
I’m posting late because today is my birthday and I have been gone most of the day. This afternoon I attended my friend’s 75th birthday party. You wouldn’t believe how much fun a bunch of old ladies can have together! LOL Then the hubs took me out to 99 Steak House for supper and we just returned home a few minutes ago. It was a really great day even though I didn’t accomplish a thing!
Hope you had a fun day also. I hope Heather held up well during her Grandfather’s funeral. I’m sure it is a tremendous loss for her. You are a wonderful friend to have taken the time to be with her and support her through such a difficult time. How fantastic that your memories of him are happy ones. Have yourself a Super Saturday Evening Love and Hugs, XO π
Hello Grace!
Thank you! I needed a nice simple card! You are right, all of the white space and cord does really draw your eye to the tree!

I did have a bit of a relaxing day! Heather is doing well, it’s never easy to loose someone but you do always have the memories and those you get to keep forever! Love and Happy Birthday again my friend! XOXOXOXO π
