It’s the first weekend of the New Year and I have my friend Kim out with me! I went into Manhattan yesterday with Taylor and her friend Kiera and we spent the day at The Ink Pad. There was no traffic at all yesterday even when we got into the city and there was plenty of parking too! We had a good day and I even got to color an image that I used on today’s card! At 6:00 we headed back to the car and went uptown to pick up Kim. When we got back out to my house we decided that we would all go to TGI Friday’s for some dinner and then last night Kim and I watched the 1989 Tour on my Apple TV. This morning we are heading over to Kim & Brian’s for breakfast! A nice way to start off a Saturday!
My card that I have to share with you today uses that image that I colored while at The Ink Pad. I used it to make a nice simple masculine Birthday card! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Black 110lb. I used a Mini Ink Blending Tool and some Simon Says Stamp Scuba Ink to create my favorite backdrop and adhered it to the card with Fun Foam and Tape Runner. My gold fish is a Leavenworth Jackson Rubber Stamp, I stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black and the colored it in with Copics before cutting him out with scissors. He is adhered to the card with Foam Tape and a little Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen is brushed over his body. My greeting is from the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Messages Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Versa-Fine Onyx Black. I added a few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins for bubbles and the card is finished! I do love that goldfish image and he looks so real colored in with Copics! A nice simple masculine birthday card! I hope that you enjoyed today’s card and I thank you for visiting! Have a spectacular Saturday! 🙂

WOW…this card came out great. The coloring is great. The sequins are fantastic as bubbles. I just wish you were able to find a phrase that said Birthday Fishes! That would have rocked. LOL
Yay! Thank you very much Michael!! I actually have that phrase and I thought of you when I looked at it but I wanted it to be a little more adult! LOL! Silly me! 🙂
The Siamese Fighting Fish is colored just beautifully. Beta’s cannot be put into a tank with any other fish or they will kill each other. Who would ever think such a beautiful fish would be so aggressive. I only know that because my X used to raise them. You did an amazing job of the coloring with Copics. AND I think this card is gorgeous! The Scuba ink and the colors on the fish so compliment each other and, of course, the Wink of Stella is genius. I hope you have an amazing first Saturday of 2016! I still can’t believe another year has passed so quickly. Big hugs, luv ya, XXOO 🙂
Thanks Grace! It’s true, they are beautiful but they do fight with each other! I really do love coloring with Copics, they are an amazing way to bring an image to life! My Saturday was great, hope that your year is off to a great start! Big hugs to you too! Love you!! XOXO 🙂
I love your coloring on the fish. Great job for a cute card. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much HJ!! Love my Copics! 🙂
Oh! This card is so gorgeous! I love the colors and the placement of the sequins. Michael, you are so clever with that sentiment! I’m sure Justin wished he had thought of it first and dubbed in an F. Happy first Saturday of 2016! This is my year! Hugs, Nancy B
Thank you Nancy! I actually did look at that sentiment, it’s almost like I could hear Michael saying “yeah, use that one”! LOL! Happy weekend to you! Yes, it is your year! XO 🙂
I just LOVE this card!! Please do videos or step by step instructions on your blog! I love your awesome creativity!
Thank you Teresa! I would love to do videos, they are a lot of work but I’m working on it! 🙂
beautiful card, love the sequin bubbles too. Have a great weekend.
Thanks so much Lynne! I hope that you are enjoying your weekend! 🙂
That fish is gorgeous! Great card. Just winding down relaxing form the holiday rush. No special plans
Thanks Linda!! Sometimes that is the best way to spend the day! 🙂
Hey Justin, what a cool card! You did such a great job of colouring the fish, and I love the way you didn’t shade all the way to the edges – very effective 🙂 Well today pretty much ends our time off, back into it tomorrow. I did some serious relaxing – no stamping though…maybe this week!?! Hope your Sunday is great Justin 🙂 xoxo
Hi Kelly!
Thank you! I have been looking at that fish for weeks now and I just had to color him in! Glad that you had time to relax! You’ll get in some creative time this week, for sure! Hope that you enjoyed your weekend!! XOXO 🙂
The New Year is off to a great start Justin!!! Your card has come together perfectly, down to EVERY last detail!!! I knew you’d nail the watercolor background for this guy!!! Fabulously festive!!! And cheers to an awesome first weekend of 2016!!!

AHHH, how did I miss this one??? I was just paging back through your blog and saw this card. Love it!!! I especially love when you sponge a portion of the card. The sequins make great bubbles. You colored the fish perfectly as well.
LOL! Thank you Gerri! I love that little goldfish and the Copics really make him come to life! 🙂
