Yes, it’s the weekend! The weather here has been just amazing the past few days! The rides home from the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store have been heavenly with the top down. We had a busy day at the store yesterday. Renee had her Kids class and Nick and her daughter Krysta came to help! Her kids are the nicest sweetest people! My Mum and Dad stopped by too. Dad fixed the lock on the front door, he does love when he can fix things and let me tell you, he can fix anything! I snuck out a little early and had dinner with my Parent’s. When I got home I finished my card for today and then ran a few errands. Today there is a crop so I get to see my ladies! We always have a good laugh!
I have a super clean and simple card to share with you for this week’s Freshly Made SketchesΒ challenge…
Yes, I saw the feathers and had to use feathers! LOL! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used my MISTI to stamp the flower outline from the Altenew Beautiful Day Photopolymer Stamp Set in Versa-Mark and then Heat Embossed it in Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder. I did the same with a piece of Lemon Lime and a piece of Tropical Sea. To cut out my feathers I decided where I wanted them to go over the flower on the white and then used the Spellbinders Feather Shapeabilities. They are adhered over the white flower with 3D Foam Squares. My greeting is from the Altenew Sentiments & Quotes Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold onto a piece of 48lb Vellum. I used Multi-Matte Medium and Kool-Tak Clear Foam Tape to adhere it to the card. Just for a little more sparkle I added a few Hazel and Ruby The Makery Green with Envy and Pretty Pink Posh Metallic Green and Gold Sequins! I love the way the card turned out, especially the green and teal feathers over the white flower! And yes, I am completely obsessed with the Sentiments & Quotes Set! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you very much for coming by and I wish you all a spectacular Saturday! π

Hi Justin,
Wow!! I LOVE this card!! The gold embossed flower over the feathers is stunning! I read your directions but still trying to understand how you did this. Did you stamp the whole flower on the greens and then die cut the feathers? The effect is awesome. Can you tell I love this card. lol.
Hello Gerri!
Thanks!! I thought that it was fun and different way to showcase the flower and the feathers! I did stamp the whole flower on the card and then on a piece of Lemon Lime and Tropical Sea. After I die cut the feathers I lined them up over the flower on the white! Hope that helps! Thanks again! π
Love it! Thanks!
Welcome! π
Hi Justin:
You have me completely confused this morning. I know that’s not hard to do but please straighten me out so that I know I’m not totally losing it – You said ” To cut out my feathers I decided where I wanted them to go over the flower on the white”. As I look at it, it looks like the feathers are under the flower. Maybe I should go back to bed and start over? LOL
This really is a lovely card and for some UNKNOWN reason I just knew you would actually use feathers! LOL I wish for you a Super Saturday my friend. We are hoping to get some much needed rain. I think your Dad and my hubby would get along beautifully. My hubby also can fix anything and I just love having my own private little handyman around. Luv ya, XXOO π
Hello Grace!
LOL! I’m sorry! No, the feathers are die cut and then adhered over the top of the white flower. It’s a cool effect! Hope that helped clear it up!
Thank you! Yes, I had to use the feathers! LOL! I hope that you have a great Saturday! I think that it’s supposed to rain here too, a lot! I guess we need it too! I agree, my dad and your hubby would definitely get along really well! Dad can fix anything! Love you! XOXO π
Wow this is gorgeous! I love the feathers over the flower! Total work of art! You make my sketch look fabulous! π Glad you joined us at FMS!
Thank you so much Linda! Thanks for the great sketch! I had a lot of fun with it! π
OMG! I saw this sketch and I knew your card would showcase feathers! Gorgeous. i love the floral effect over the feathers. Had a great time scrappin with my BFF. Its been two flippin years, it took us that long top find another store that does crops and to coordinate schedules. But we have next month already booked. I got about 30 photos done, not great but 30 down. today I need to get titles on and put into albums. I got home so late but it was worth it. Needless to say I just saw your Friday card, Love t as usual. Yep, I need that gold mirror, I’m just afraid the Paper Cut has plenty of other items which I need. i’m glad your water color class went well. photos please.
Oh no! Does that mean that I’m getting predictable Linda! LOL! I did have fun making the card, sort of different! So glad that you enjoyed your time with your friends getting crafty! I hate that it takes such a long time to make plans! We are all way too busy! Good to book in advance! 30 photos is a lot and it’s 30 less to do! Glad that you liked Friday’s card too! I love that Gold Mirror Card! I have to get more! The Paper Cut has all sorts of amazing paper! π
Fabulous take on the sketch! And what a clever idea to emboss the flower over the feathers! Thanks so much for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches.
