We are supposed to be getting a Nor’easter today! Thankfully not snow but lots of rain and high winds. Makes yesterday’s overcast weather seem quite nice! LOL! Renee, Angie and I had a productive day at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store yesterday. I got some more administrative things finished and made my card for today. It was my Brother’s Birthday yesterday so I left the Store a little early, ran home and finished up a few things before heading out to his house for Dinner. Most of my time was spent playing with Daniel, what better way to spend a Sunday evening?! We had loads of fun, he has quite the extensive array of toys! When I got back to my house I watched Ever After, still one of my favorites. I’m a die hard romantic at heart! Today I have projects and all sorts of other fun things to do! Happy Monday! π

The start of a new week and of course a new Mojo Monday sketch…
I pulled out a favorite set of mine that I haven’t used in a long time! The flower and leaves are from the Altenew Beautiful Day Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the flower inΒ Blush, Rouge, Crimson and Velvet Crisp Ink and the leaves inΒ Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades and Evergreen Crisp Ink using my Mini MISTI. They are cut out with the Coordinating Dies and put aside while I worked on the rest of the card. My base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and for my background I used a piece of Photoplay This Guy 12×12 Paper. The half circle is cut from a piece of 48lb Vellum with the Hero Arts Infinity Circles Dies. Across the lower part of the card is a piece of American Crafts Gold Glitter Card Stock. I used it hide the adhesive for the vellum and adhered both to the card with E-Z Runner. My greeting is from the Altenew Sentiments & Quotes Photopolymer Stamp Set and it’s heat embossed in Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder onto a square of Dark Molasses which is adhered to the card with E-Z Runner and Fun Foam. The flower and leaves are adhered to the square and a few Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins and Clear Droplets are added to complete the card! I do love that flower, especially against the dark wood and gold glitter really makes it pop! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge! Take a minute to stop by the BLOG and see what the rest of the Team has done to inspire you! We hope to see your card in the gallery! Thank you for staring another week off here with me! Love this card, Justin, with the beautiful flower, gold glimmer paper, and the big semi-circle of vellum. They really pop over the dark background. I love the sweet greeting, too. Happy Birthday to your brother. I can imagine how many toys Daniel has and that the two of you had a great time together. Take care.
Thank you HJ! I still love that flower after all this time! And I think the dark background is fun! I’ll pass on your Birthday wishes! I had so much fun with Daniel last night! He wore me out! π
Love the sentiment. Keep warm and cozy today.
π
Thanks Nancy! You stay nice and safe too! π
Very innovative card today Justin. I love the fact that you have combined a half circle, a square, a rectangle, leaf and floral shapes all together and made it all work beautifully. WOW! Now, I have to ask because I’m nosey – how many ink pads do you own and how many companies do they include? LOL I so love it when companies name their inks with words that are so descriptive you know exactly what they will look like i.e. lemon yellow, bubble gum pink. I have purchased ink pads and when I received them they really are NOT like their name and that does NOT make me happy.
Anywho………..so glad you got to play with Daniel. I’m sure he just loves playing with you. However, you are going to need to start spending at least a little time with Tristan or she is going to feel sad. So, your Nor’easter is only bringing high winds and rain? When it gets up here to the North country it is going to be snow, freezing rain and ice. They are telling us to expect power outages yet again. Not happy about that at all. I love the snow but am not a fan of freezing rain and ice. What that means is that today all the grocery stores will be crowded. Glad I keep the freezer filled so I don’t need to deal with that. You have yourself a Magnificent Monday. Ignore the weather and enjoy being at the store or home. Love and hugs to you my friend and a huge thank you for the pre-order discount! XXOO π
Thank you Grace! I love that flower! I have a lot of ink pads! I have all of the Hero ones, a lot of the Altenew and most of the Lawn Fawn! I find that companies are getting better at making sure that the ink color that you see is what it stamps like. Hero and Lawn Fawn are my favorites and the Altenew ones are amazing for layering!
Daniel has told everyone that I’m his best buddy! We do have a good time playing, he is a really good boy, takes turns and shares. Tristan is funny, she just looks at me and smiles all the time, when she gets a little bigger I think then I will have to be a little more aware of the time I spend with each one.
The Nor-easter we are having is just rain thank god! We usually have snow with them too. I think that we will be leaving the Store early today, I want to be home when the worst of it gets going. Hope that you have a great Monday! Love and hugs to you! Glad that you took advantage of the discount and thank you so much for your order!! XOXO π
What a great mix of styles—clean and chic meets a sweet rose. It works so well! Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much Christine! Love that flower! π
Justin, what a gorgeous and dramatic card! I love the rich colors of this flower I’ve not tired of seeing either, and what a great sketch with the dark wood-like DP and the gold embossing, glitter paper, and sequins. Really beautiful! Thanks for sharing this beauty!
Thank you Cheryl! I thought that the dark wood background really made the flower the focal point and the gold softened the wood a little! So glad that you like the card!! π
So gorgeous, Justin!! I love the patterned paper you used for the background – it really accentuates the stunning flower. You are really a master at combining hard and soft elements such as the vellum and the glitter paper or the patterned paper. Oh, and those layered sequins – be still my heart! π
Hopefully you don’t get too much rain from this nor’easter. Right now, we have a nasty mix of sleet and snow & high wind. I think tomorrow morning is going to make for a tough commute (especially since I leave so early in the AM). If there is still sleet/snow/ice tomorrow morning when I have to leave in the wee hours of the AM, I think I will be working from home for the day instead. Be safe and stay dry!!
Thank you Christy! I do think that woodgrain goes so well with florals! And I love that dark wood paper, almost out of it!
We got a fair amount of rain but the wind was the real issue. Lots of flooding along the coast. I hope that you have a safe commute to work. I like the idea of you working from home, sounds a lot safer! You be safe too! π
WOW.. this is just so beautiful. When I first saw the card , I immediately imaged the flower on a coffee table with the sequins scattered about as if you were getting ready to wrap a gift and the gorgeous flower serves as the bow. I mean that’s how this gal imagined it anyways.. I think it’s fabulous. You truly are gifted in your card making. Have a Happy week. pjs-projects.blogspot.com
Thank you PJ!! I love your description of the card! I should have asked you to describe it for me!! I appreciate your kind words!! I hope that you have a wonderful week! π
Sorry for the Nor’easter, luckily its just rain. Us mid west folks are tracking a winter storm but fingers crossed it looks like its hitting tghe plains and then up to cental WI. Please keep that track!
Gorgeous card, I love the colors and that flower is fabulous
Yes, I was glad that it was rain and not snow, it would have been a lot Linda! I hope that your storm misses you completely! Glad that you like the card! π
Another great card today, Justin. Glad you had a good weekend celebrating your brother’s birthday and seeing family. It was a busy weekend for my. Melissa and I saw Hidden Figures, which is a fantastic movie, on Saturday before going back to school on Sunday. We dropped her off at LaGuardia at 8:30 a.m. and she didn’t get to school in Ohio until 10 p.m. We could have driven her in that amount of time. It was a nightmare. Her first flight, which flew direct to Cincinnati, was delayed several times because of the fog until they finally cancelled it. Then they rerouted her on a flight that was connecting through Raleigh/Durham. When she arrived there, the Cincinnati flight was also delayed. It was a tense couple of hours as I was watching the storms in Georgia slowly creep north. She got out of NC before the storms hit. However, when she got to Cincinnati, she had to find a new way back to campus because the shuttle she was booked on had departed hours before. Thankfully her roommate got a friend with a car to make the two-hour round trip to pick her up because the thought of her ubering alone at night through the corn fields was a bit unsettling for me. Thankfully all is good now, but it was a stressful day! I think we will drive her back from winter break next year despite the fact that its a 24-hour round trip.
Thanks so much Linda! I did have fun at my Brother’s like I always do with Daniel! I want to see that movie! It looks great! Air travel these days is always a nightmare! Nothing tops my 22 hour flight to Salt Lake! Glad that it all worked itself out in the end! Very stressful when you are not there to do anything! π
I really like your sophisticated take on this week’s sketch. It’s fun but not too feminine.
Thanks so much Shawnna! π
