Good morning, or good evening, depending on what part of the world you’re in. It’s Wednesday and that’s always a good thing because it means we’re halfway through the work week! To all my Aussies, I’m jealous, you’re almost into Thursday already! My boss at work told me today that she’s going away for a vacation for the first time in 3 years. She’s going to Secrets in Montego Bay, so I of course looked it up; it looks like a beautiful place to go. I will be taking a little trip in September but I can’t share all of the details with you just yet… it’s a surprise ;-).

For today’s post I have my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch challenge…

    PCCCS056 8-28-2013

The base of the card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. The background consists of a piece of Soft Suede and a piece of Crumb Cake that are stamped in Soft Suede with the Woodgrain Background Stamp. To hide the seam I used a piece of Primrose Petals 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon. The collage of flowers in the middle starts off with a piece of Soft Sky cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies. The flowers and leaves are from the Secret Garden Stamp Set and are cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits Dies. I used my Stampin’ Write Markers in coordinating colors to darken some of the petals on the flowers. The middles of the flowers are So Saffron punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. I added a couple of dots on each one with my So Saffron Stampin’ Write Marker for a little texture. The greeting is from the Chalk Talk Stamp Set and is stamped in Primrose Petals and punched out with the 1 1/4″ circle punch. A little piece of Primrose Petals is flagged and tucked behind. I like the collage effect of the flowers and we all know that I love the Woodgrain Background Stamp! Thank you so much for stopping by to see my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch challenge. Head on over to the blog to see what my fellow Design Team members have for your inspiration and enter one of your cards in the gallery so we can see your take on the sketch challenge! Have a wonderful day!

  • SUO Challenges 78

Hey there! How is everything going? I’m much better than I was yesterday. My headache finally went away around 11:00am. I don’t think I have had one like that in a long time and hopefully not again anytime soon! It was nice here again today with a little more cloud cover and they are saying rain for tonight into tomorrow morning. Hopefully it will be nice for the three day weekend coming up! I do love a three day weekend! 🙂

Today I have my card for SUO Challenges. This time we have a ribbon and bows challenge for you. I decided to use some of the 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon, I have had it for a while and thought it was about time to break it out. The base of the card is Soft Suede Card Stock. The background is just a plain piece of Sahara Sand and I adhered the 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon around the back with Sticky Strip. I also used another piece behind the sentiment to hold it flat. The panel is then mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The image is the new Wonderful Blessing Single Stamp and it’s stamped in Midnight Muse and cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. I brayered one of the Tea Lace Paper Doilies in Midnight muse and backed it with a piece of Midnight Muse that I also cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits to make it a little more sturdy. The whole thing is adhered to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the nice big size of the Wonderful Blessing Stamp and these would be great to make a bunch of for Christmas! Thanks so much for coming by to see my card for the SUO Challenges Ribbon and Bows. Head on over to the blog and check out what me teammates have for inspiration and add one of yours to the gallery. Have a fun Tuesday! 🙂

  • Paper Players 160

I know that I say it every Monday but boy did that weekend fly by. Yesterday was pretty nice, I did my projects and played around with some new ideas. Then around 8:00 I got a raging headache so I took some Excedrin and laid down. Wouldn’t you know I fell asleep and woke up at 12:00! Ha, that was definitely not a good thing. When I got up I wanted to sit at the craft desk again but I thought that would be a bad idea! It took a while to get back to sleep and I was up early this morning. Let’s see how long before I need a nap at work! LOL! The weather here yesterday was gorgeous, nice and mild with a breeze and perfect leave the windows open sleeping weather last night. The weather everyday should be like yesterday!

Today my post is for this week’s Paper Players. Before I get to it I wanted to thank Nance for selecting my card for her Cut Above for last week’s one layer card. You can see the winners list here and my original post here. This week Nance has given us a really cool sketch to work with…

    Paper Players #160

I had a picture in my head of what I wanted the card to look like before I got started, love that! The base of the card is Gumball Green Card Stock. I used the Off the Grid Stamp and some Tangerine Tango Card Stock and Tangerine Tango Ink to create my background. Next up is some Witches’ Brew Designer Washi Tape on the diagonal with a thin strip of Gumball Green in the center. The stamped image is from the Halloween Bash Stamp Set. I stamped it three times, once in Gumball Green then in Tangerine Tango and again in Basic Black. The Gumball one is punched out with the Decorative Label Punch, the Tangerine one with the Scallop Oval Punch and the bat is cut out with my Paper Snips. All of them are adhered to each other and the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The three Gumball Green chevrons are punched out with the Chevron Border Punch and are also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really love the Gumball with the Tangerine and Black, it gives the card a nice pop of color. I will definitely incorporate more Gumball into my Halloween projects! Thank you for visiting me today to see my Paper Players card for this week’s sketch from Nance. Have a good Monday! 🙂

  • Pals Paper Arts 169

So remember yesterday when I said that I had no plans for this weekend? That all changed rather quickly! I’m going to have some breakfast with my friend Joe this morning and then I’m off to Manhattan with my work buddy Lisa to meet my city buddy Kim. We are going to see Elysium and have some dinner at Vapiano! I will have a full review for you tomorrow! LOL! What are you all up to this weekend? The weather is supposed to lovely here so that is always a good reason to get out and do something. My craft therapy will have to wait for tomorrow! 🙂

Today’s post contains my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts. We have a sketch challenge from the lovely Pixel Maven Nicole Watt…

    PPA 169

The other day I had a little delivery from my friend the UPS man and the stamp I used on today’s card was in that cache! The base of the card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Smokey Slate with the Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The horizontal panel is a piece of paper from the Winter Frost Designer Series Paper Stack that is backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler. The large greeting is the new Be Merry Single Stamp. I inked it in Bermuda Bay and cut it out with my Paper Snips. The little holly berries looked a little dull so I got my Owl Builder Punch and punched out some Cherry Cobbler for them, they were much happier after that! I also used the punch for the piece of Smokey Slate that holds the Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon to the piece of Cherry Cobbler that I cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. 3 Basic Jewels Rhinestones and one of the gorgeous Frosted Finishes Designer Embellishments finish the card. I really love the Be Merry Stamp and I did cover up the To/From with the banner to make it a little less gift tag looking. Thank you for popping by to see my Pals Paper Arts Card for this week’s sketch challenge. I hope that you enjoyed the card and that you will be back tomorrow for my reviews! LOL! Enjoy your day! 🙂

  • Mojo 307

Good day! So nice to see you again! It was another lovely day here on the island, sunny and warm. It was actually the hottest day of August so far and it only got up to 90. So, I’m a big Apple fan as some of you may know. One of my favorite things to do is FaceTime. It allows me to do fun things like craft with Brian King. The other night I was making my Mojo card and I cut out the Wonderful Wreath with the Circles Collection Framelits and he said aren’t you going to fussy cut that? I knew he was right but I didn’t feel like doing it. As soon as I hung up however I did just that. I;m glad that I listened!

So today’s card is for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch and the lovely Julee Tilman has given us this to work with…

    Mojo307

The base of my card is Baked Brown Sugar and the background is a piece of Crumb Cake that I embossed with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The two triangles are from the Season of Style Designer Series Paper Stack. I stamped the Wonderful Wreath in Old Olive and as I mentioned I cut it out with my Paper Snips. Some Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details gives the berries some sparkle. The piece of Cheery Cobbler behind it is cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits Dies and the wreath is adhered to it with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Tags 4 You Stamp Set and is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar and punched out with the Label Bracket Punch. A Brights Designer Button with some Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine and some flags in the top left complete the card. I really am glad that I listened to Brian and his sage advice! LOL! Thank you very much for visiting me today to see my Mojo Monday Sketch card for this week’s challenge. Enjoy your Thursday! 🙂

Hello peeps! Welcome to Wednesday! How is your week going so far? Mine is super busy, between work and home I need a few more hours in the day please! Thanks for the comments on the Control Freaks Blog Tour from yesterday! I’m so happy that you enjoyed the projects, they were a lot of fun to make. I also saw that Stampin’ Up! repinned my one layer card from Monday! Woo hoo! That was a very nice surprise. 🙂

I almost forgot to tell you about the new Photopolymer Stamp Set that was recently released by Stampin’ Up! It’s called Another Thank You and it has some really great thank you’s in it. There is also this really cool one that covers a whole card front! You can see it below and If you want a PDF click here.

Today I have my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch challenge…

    PCCCS055 8-21-2013

I’m liking the slightly askew look lately. You would think it would be easier that putting things on straight but I don’t find that to be the case! The base of my card is Garden Green Card Stock. I inked up the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder with my Brayer and some Smoky Slate Ink. After I ran it through the Big Shot it had a really nice weathered look to it. The main panel is the Dictionary Background Stamp stamped in Smoky Slate and backed with a piece of Garden Green. I stamped the coffee cup from the Perfect Blend Stamp Set in Garden Green and cut it and the sleeve that is stamped in Crumb Cake on Crumb Cake and heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder out. The ticket is from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set and is also heat embossed and punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. The little corner is punched out with the “Vintage” Photo Corner Punch. All of the elements are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Three Regals Candy Dots complete the card. I really love the way the inked embossing turned out and will definitely do that again! Thank you so very much for taking some time to come by and see my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch. Head on over to the blog and see what my other teammates have done. Don’t forget to enter one of your creations for us to see! Have a very enjoyable Wednesday!

  • Control Freaks August Blog Tour

    freakwelcome2013

Hello there and welcome to the Control Freaks August Blog Tour! We are so glad to have you along. This month we are featuring products from the 2013 Holiday Catalog. If you are following the tour then you have arrived here from the amazing Julie Davidson’s blog. She has cool stuff didn’t she? I have been having lots of fun playing with all of the goodies in the Holiday Catalog and I have also been having lots of fun with the new Thinlits Dies. I have a card for you today that uses the Thinlits and two fun projects that use Vellum.

First up we have the card. When they introduced the Thinlits at Convention I knew that I was going to love them and I was right! They are so much fun to play with and not just to make the cards. The elements they come with are great too! The base of my card is Smoky Slate Card Stock and I used the Circle Card Thinlits Die to cut it out. The circle in the middle starts off with a piece of Costal Cabana that I punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. I used the scallop circle from the Thinlits set to cut out a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper. The snowflake is from the Festive Flurry Stamp Set and is cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits Dies. The circle of Glimmer paper is cut out using the Circles Collection Framelits Dies. I adhered only the left side so that when you flip the card it circles the greeting which is from the Christmas Messages Stamp Set and is stamped in Costal Cabana. The greeting is from the Joy to the World Stamp Set and is stamped in Smoky Slate. A strip of Silver Glimmer Paper, the one on the left is punched with the Scallop Edge Punch, finish the card off with some more sparkle. I love the way the circle flips around to surround the greeting too!

Control Freaks August Blog Tour Card Closed

Control Freaks August Blog Tour Card Open

Next up I have a simple Votive Holder that I made with some Vellum Card Stock and my Simply Scored Scoring Tool. Another one of the snowflakes from the Festive Flurry Stamp set is stamped in Costal Cabana on Vellum and cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits Dies. I used the Boho Blossom Punch to punch out the piece of Silver Glimmer Paper in the center, it fits just perfectly! A nice simple way to dress up a table or mantle for the Holidays!

Control Freaks August Blog Tour Votive

Finally I have a quick project that you could use as an ornament or to hang in a window. I stamped the Wonderful Wreath in Costal Cabana on more Vellum Card Stock and cut it out with the Circles Collection Framelits Dies. The berries are colored in with my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker. I used the Expressions Thinlits Dies to cut out Merry from some more Costal Cabana and adhered it to the wreath with 2-Way Glue. It looks really neat with some light behind it and could also easily be used on a card front or a gift package.

Control Freaks August Blog Tour Window Hanging

I hope that you enjoyed my card and projects for this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour and that you are inspired to go and play with some goodies from the Holiday Catalog! Next up for you crafty pleasure we have the talented LeeAnn Greff. I’ll bet you can’t wait to see what she has in store for you! Thanks for hopping by and enjoy the rest of the tour! 🙂

  • Pals Paper Arts 168

A very good Saturday morning to you! The weather here is still gorgeous, nice and cool at night and not too hot during the day. Hopefully it holds out. It would be so nice if it could be like this year round. I’m off to Manhattan this morning to see my friend Kim. We’ll get some breakfast and then wander around for a while. I’m thinking I would like some Mediterranean food for lunch. I’ll see if I can find anything interesting to take a picture of and post it tomorrow. 🙂

For today’s post I have my Pals Paper Arts card for this week’s sketch challenge…

    PPA 168

The base of today’s card is Smoky Slate Card Stock. I used a piece of the Winter Frost Designer Series Paper Stack for the background. The greeting is from the More Messages Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo. I used the Christmas Collectibles Stamp Set to stamp an ornament in Island Indigo and punch it out with the Holiday Ornament Punch. The second ornament is from the Ornament Keepsakes Stamp Set and is stamped in Pool Party and cut out with the Holiday Ornaments Framelits Dies. A stamp from the A Round Array Stamp Set is stamped in Smoky Slate and punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. A few Basic Jewels Rhinestones around the greeting and on the ornaments finishes off the card. I love the simplicity and the colors are fast becoming a holiday favorite of mine. Thanks very much for paying me a visit today to see my Pals Paper Arts card for this week’s sketch challenge. I hope that you have a fun little outing planned today too and that you enjoy your Saturday!

  • Freshly Made Sketches #99 and Create with Connie and Mary 264

Hmm… I wonder what day it is today? Could it be… FRIDAY?!?! Yes kids, it’s Friday, my favorite day of the week. Weather here, gorgeous. Weekend plans, Manhattan on Saturday and craftiness on Sunday! What are you people up to?

Today’s post is something I haven’t done before and that’s combine two challenges. I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and the colors from Create with Connie and Mary. So here’s this week’s inspiration…

    Freshly Made Sketches #99CCMC 264

For the base of my card I stamped the Travel Journal Builder Wheel in Smoky Slate on Smoky Slate Card Stock. The panel in the middle is a piece of Venetian Romance Designer Series Paper backed with some Blushing Bride. All of the elements on the card are from the Circle Card and Label Card Thinlits Dies cut from Blushing Bride. The circles are cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits Dies from Smoky Slate. For a little sparkle I used the Small Heart Punch to punch out some Silver Glimmer Paper and adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional on the i heart u. I’m really having a lot of fun playing with the new Thinlits Dies and I love that the elements work so well even when you don’t use the actual card base. Thanks so much for stopping by today to see my combined Freshly Made Sketches and Create with Connie and Mary Challenge card. As always, I appreciate your visit and hope that you have an awesome Friday! 🙂

  • Mojo 306

Hello peeps! It was an absolutely gorgeous day here on Long Island yesterday. Temps in the 70’s and plenty of sunshine. Days like that make it hard to stay in work all day, but I managed to! What’s going on by you? Only one more day until my favorite day and then off to the weekend! Not sure what I’m going to be doing but I’m thinking I might like a little trip into Manhattan to see my friend Kim. 🙂

Now on to today’s post which is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch. The lovely Julee Tilman has given us this…

The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. The background consists of a piece of Soft Sky on top and some Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper on the lower half. In the center is a Tea Lace Paper Doily with some Tangerine Tango, cut out with the Circles Framelits Dies, that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The stamped image is from the Tags 4 You Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso and punched out with the Bracket Label Punch. Behind it is a piece of Whisper White that is stamped with the image from the Truly Grateful Stamp Set in Crushed Curry and backed with a piece of Early Espresso. A flagged piece of Crushed Curry with some Naturals 7/16″ Trim Ribbon goes across the center. I threaded a Naturals Designer Button with Linen Thread and adhered it with a Mini Glue Dot in the center to finish off the card. I’m really liking the fall colors and the Sweater Weather DSP is pretty neat too! Thanks for taking some time out of your day to stop by and see my Mojo Monday Sketch Card for this week’s challenge! I hope you have an enjoyable Thursday!
