Paper Craft Crew 136

It has started to get a little chilly here again and we are to go down to 38 today. Well, it was a nice taste of what’s to come! Work was good yesterday, I had my first class teaching the new software. It was good because I had my friend Casey there to help out. The rest of the day wasn’t too bad. I came home and Skyped with Andrea and the worked on a few projects. Taylor and I ran to Target, I wanted to get shoelaces. Apparently no one sells dress shoe shoelaces anymore! Nothing else exciting to report!

Today I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch…

PCCCS136 DT Sketch 3-18-2015

I wanted an über masculine card, one that would work well for a birthday or even Father’s day. The base of the card is Crumb Cake Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper form the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack that I cut out with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Squares. My circle is a piece of Natural Wood Sheet from EK Success cut out with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Circles. A piece of Early Espresso is flagged on the bottom and then embossed with the “Vintage” Houndstooth Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My shoes and greeting are from the Guy Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set, the shoes are heat embossed in Early Espresso Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Crumb Cake and cut out with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Squares and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is stamped in Early Espresso on a piece of Very Vanilla. My button is one of the “Vintage” Designer Naturals Buttons and it’s adhered with Glue Dots. I love the wood sheets, they give such nice texture and really do help make the card nice and masculine! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch. Don’t forget to stop by the blog to see what the rest of the design team has done with the sketch. I thank you so much for stopping by today! Have a very Happy Hump Day! 🙂

  1. Good morning Justin. What a great guy card and I love the colors! You always add just the right touch of dimension to your cards. I know I’ve said this before but I always love to see how you display your cards. The props are wonderful! Have a great day.

    1. Hello Nina!
Thank you very much! I like a card with some dimension! It’s what separates us from the store-bought cards! I really appreciate that you like the set up for the pictures! I hope that you had a nice day! 🙂

  2. My instant thought was . . . great masculine card! As I scrolled down . . . Jodi had the same exact words. I think I would love to give this to some of my “guy” recipients, especially those that are not into any sports.
    🙂

  3. Happy Hump Day Justin:

I don’t think a card could get much more masculine then the beautiful one you made for today’s post. Are those Natural Wood sheets actually wood or is that just the name of the paper? I know I have put cork through my die cut machine but wood? Hmmmmmm Anyway, I think the card is fabulous, just like it’s maker!

We have found that in order to get shoelaces, especially in a variety of lengths and colors, we need to go to one of the upscale shoe stores (not that there are many around here believe me!). If you let me know the length and color you are looking for I’d be glad to pick them up in Augusta and mail them out to you. Just email me the info.

Off to pick up the hubs new “must be made from 24 carat gold and that’s why they are so freakin’ expensive” hearing aids. All I can say is I could open a small stamp store for what they cost so they darn well better work! LOL

Have yourself a wonderful Wednesday my friend! XO 🙂

    1. Happy Hump Day to you too Grace!
Thank you so much! The wood sheets are actual wood! It’s extremely thin so you can die cut it or punch it! I really like it! You are too sweet!
I can’t believe how hard it is to find shoelaces! I went to a bunch of places and finally went to good old amazon! There is nothing that you can’t get there and have it in two days! I do appreciate you offering to get them for me!
Hearing aids are very expensive!! But they have ones that you can adjust with your iPhone now! Modern technology!
I hope that you had a great day my friend! XOXOXO 🙂

      1. I PHone? Heck, we wouldn’t even know how to turn them on……….the audiologist at the hearing aid place today was telling us about doing that so Ken pulled out his cell phone and the audiologist just about fell on the floor laughing. We are so techno-ignorant! Anyway, the hubs has had a fun day hearing things he hasn’t heard in year. His comments were like “Sweetheart, has the toilet always made this loud noise when flushed?” and “what was all that banging in the kitchen when you were preparing supper?” (It was me closing the cabinet doors without banging them. I haven’t been able to wipe the smile off his face all day. LOL

        1. LOL! I love my iPhone and my parents love theirs! My Mum FaceTimes with her sister in London all the time! I’m glad that the hearing aids were with it! LOL! Now he can fix the toilet! LOL! That’s great!! Hugs my friend! 🙂

  4. Love this card…love the color combos…love the patterns. Hey, bought an old shoelace box a few years ago on eBay and it came filled with shoelaces. LOL. Have them someplace. Can mail you a set if you need. LOL

    1. Thank you very much Michael! I finally found the laces on amazon! But thank you so much for the offer! 🙂

  5. Hi Justin! Great card today! Masculine cards are always hard for me. Love the houndstooth textures you put on here. And that dsp is great, isn’t it? That’s strange that you can’t find the dress shoe laces. Maybe you need to get creative with those…perhaps some baker’s twine or linen thread quadrupled together? 🙂 I’m off to play a bit in the stamp room today, got a big box of goodies yesterday. Fun! Have a great day!

    1. Hello Karen!
Thank you! I love that Houndstooth Embossing Folder, glad that I kept it, it goes so nicely with the paper! I can’t believe how hard it was to find shoe laces! LOL! If I have thick black string of some desertion I would have definitely used that! I hope that you had fun paying with your new goodies!! Hugs! 🙂

  6. Love the card — simple but perfect! I have some of SU’s wood papers somewhere. I will have to dig them out for this look. This is a perfect card for my 96 year old dapper uncle, who is still going strong! He loves getting my cards. He either lines them up on his dresser or hangs them on the walls of his retirement room. Hey, I guess you can always dye some linen thread to match your dress shoes! I haven’t thought about men’s dress shoes with laces in years! Let us know what you find out there. My bridge opened yesterday; the river is finally receding and the barge traffic is able to get through in spite of the rapid current and tons of huge debris. Oh, the country life! Would you believe looters stole the canoe from people who couldn’t get to their home any other way? Shameful! I made a Hooray Spring card for my postal workers and will be able to deliver it today. Have a great day! Nancy B

    1. Thank you very much Nancy! Stampin’ Up! had wood paper?! Really?! I love when you give a card to someone that really appreciates them! I actually finally went to amazon and ordered them! Unreal, but I’m glad that I have prime! All of the snow is still causing problems. Gotta love that! I think that there is just something wrong with society as a whole! Why would you take something that wasn’t yours?! We all need hooray Spring cards!! Hope that your day was great! 🙂

  7. Hey Justin, what a cool ‘guy’ card! Like Nancy said, it’s great if they’re not into sports, my poor Dad has had year after year of tree cards in some form or other, Lol! I’m glad you’re doing well at work, it makes life much more enjoyable 🙂 Hey, have you ever been to Ellen’s Stardust Diner in Manhattan, right near Times Square? It was one of the most fun nights we spent in New York! Better get ready for work now, have a great day Justin XOXO 😀

    1. Hello Kelly! Thank you! I don’t like themed guy cards! I think that just a guy card is needed once in a while! Yes, work is getting better, now if only people actually paid attention in the class! LOL! I have been past Ellen’s Stardust Diner many times but have never gone in. I will have to put that on my list of places to go! Have a wonderful day my friend! XOXO 🙂

  8. This is wonderful, great masculine card, touch of vintage. This is one sketch I will keep.

And yes, shoe laces are Impossible to find! even here in the subarbs of the windy city

    1. Thanks Linda! It is a really good sketch! I don’t understand the difficulty in finding shoelaces! You would think that in the area that I live in it wouldn’t be that hard either! 🙂
