Mojo Monday 418

Happy Monday! I can say that for now, no work for me! I know that I shouldn’t be happy about that, but good things are ahead! I have to run up to the office this morning and get my things. I will miss the people form my old department and my friends. Everything happens for a reason right?! I had a nice day at The Ink Pad with Anna yesterday. It was also a sunny day, a nice change from the rain that we have been having. I drove in and got a space not too far away. When I parked I noticed this Fish & Chips Shop which I think has the best name ever!

A Salt & Battery

Really great name don’t you think?! The day moved along, we were pretty busy. I’m back there on Wednesday. I did get to run down to the basement which you get through by going into the building behind the store and they have one of those really cool old elevators…

Old Elevator

Pretty cool! That has been there for a long time! It took me a little bit longer than I thought to get home. I stopped and saw Mum and Dad and had a quick sandwich. Heather called when I got back to my house so I went over to see her for a bit and then by the time I got home it was time for bed. Another really good Sunday!

Continuing on with his daily post Michael has a really cool card with some paper-piecing on it! Go over and check it out by clicking HERE!

Now you know what Monday means… it’s time for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch…

I played with some Lawn Fawn again, but this time it’s an exclusive set that you can’t get anymore from last year. Today’s card begins with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangles to cut out a piece of Smoky Slate for the background. I wrapped some Hemptique Black Hemp Twine around it and tied it in a bow, it’s then adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. The panel in the middle is a piece of Solar White 80lb that is stamped with the Lawn Fawn Woodgrain Backdrops Photopolymer Stamp Set in Simon Says Stamp Cloudy Sky Ink. It’s cut with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Journaling Card, once and then I placed it over the already cut lines to make it a little smaller. A piece of Vellum has the greeting from the Simon Says Stamp with Lawn Fawn Feathered Friends Photopolymer Stamp Set heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. It’s adhered around the back and then the panel is adhered to the background with SNAIL and Fun Foam. The two birds and feathers are also from the Feathered Friends Set, both stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I colored them in with Copics and used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Circles Dies to cut out the birds and the feathers are fussy cut with Paper Snips. I tucked the feathers behind the panel and the circle is adhered with SNAIL. Finally two hearts from the Woodgrain Set are colored in with Copics and also cut out with Paper Snips. Some Foam Tape holds them in place. Aren’t those two little birds just the cutest?! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge! Head on over to the blog and check out the rest of the Team’s cards and enter your one in the gallery! Thank you very much for taking some time to visit with me today! Have a meaningful Monday! πŸ™‚

  1. You right, it is a great name and I wonder why no-one else has ever thought of it. Pretty clever.
    Cheers, Jessie x

  2. Good Morning Justin!

Love those little birdies – they are the cutest and the fact that you were able to stage this card with perfectly colored jars just amazes me. I think you’ll find that the days really fly by when you don’t have to go to work. I have found that the weeks, months and years REALLY do fly by since I retired. Enjoy it while it lasts. My only thing was that while I was working I had the money to do what I wanted but not the time. Since retiring I have found I have the time but not the money to do what I want. I guess you can’t have it all! LOL You have yourself a Marvelous Monday my friend. Love and hugs, XO πŸ™‚

    1. Hi Grace!
Thank you! I actually saw the jars and took the colors form them! The day always fly by and yes, I’m looking forward to catching up on things at home but the money will be an issue! No happy medium! LOL! My Monday was pretty good, hope that yours was fantastic! Love to you! XOXO πŸ™‚

  3. Cute card, Justin. I’m with Grace about your coordinated staging for the pic. Can’t wait to hear what’s in store for you next. Good luck.

  4. So Justin, there weren’t any other positions for you to consider? I can actually feel your relief about leaving that company. You need to work at the Ink Pad! Great store! A Salt and Battery has been on all the foodie TV shows. My mouth waters every time I see it.
I love the little birds on your card today. What a fun card! I love the blues and especially your vases in your setting. Now don’t get so involved in making cards that you forget to look for a new job. You may have to move back in with Mum and Dad!
Grace, you and I seem to be living parallel lives! Everything you say is almost exactly me! Ditto to today’s comments.
Take care of yourselves, everyone! Love ya, Justin! Nancy B

    1. No Nancy, there are no other positions at this time, but yes, I need to find something that I love to do so fingers crossed! The fish shop was just too cool!
Thank you! LOL! I would like to make card making my “new” job! And no, not moving back in with mum and dad! LOL!
You have a super day! Love you too! XO πŸ™‚

  5. Love the card and the staging. Great name on the fish and chips shop, have you eaten there yet? Good luck on your job search, something great will pop up. Negotiate a great severance package as well, less worry about finances in the short term. You should contact the companies in the craft industry and see if there is a position available, one never knows.

    1. Thanks Lynne! Yes, the fish shop name is so creative! I haven’t eaten there but I will! I’m sure that something good will come of all of this job thing too! I did get a month severance, so nice of them after 3 1/2 years! NOT! I will be looking into all sorts of things! πŸ™‚

  6. Whew! Where have I been? How did I miss the fact that you are no longer at your job. The one we’ve been hearing about for so long? I’m so sorry I didn’t read that before. Guess in MY retirement, I’m not paying as much attention as when I was working. And that’s bad, because I’ve only been retired a month! So, what happened? No matter what though, it’s true that when one door closes, another one (and a better one) opens, so I am sure that someone as talented as you, will find something soon. As for your photo of the fish and chips place, it’s fantastic! What a great name. Your card is darling, as always. I love those 2 little birds. You hang in there Justin. Things are looking UP! πŸ™‚ Hugs my friend

    1. LOL! No worries Bobbi! Things change all the time, now time for a good change! I appreciate your confidence, they just dissolved the position. I’m hoping that everything works out, wait, it will! The chip shop was too cool! I have to have lunch there one day! Glad that you like the card, thanks! Hugs to you too! πŸ™‚

  7. Love these pics! Great name. Keep up the cheerful positive attitude, something good will come along. Love this creation, Anything with Lawn Fawn is a winner.

    1. Thanks Linda! Yup, really cool name indeed! Glad that you like the card, love Lawn Fawn too! πŸ™‚

  8. Hey Justin, that’s a classic name for a fish n chip shop! Love it! Must feel nice not to have to go to work – more time to stamp! Yay! Enjoy a bit of time off before you launch into your new career πŸ™‚ Cute birdies on the card, great colours too! Enjoy your week xoxo πŸ˜‰

    1. Hi Kelly!
The fish shop was very clever! It does feel nice to not have to go to work, now just need to make some money doing that! LOL! Thanks, I had fun with the card! You have a super week too! πŸ™‚
