Hipster Wedding Congrats

So, I had a very nice day in Manhattan yesterday! I went and saw my friend Jim in the morning and got to meet his grandson Oliver. They are heading out to Montana to do some fishing today! That should be fun. From there I headed down to The Ink Pad where I got to see Brianna. We had a nice long chat and I browsed around the store. Such a fun place to be! After The Ink Pad I went and wandered around the city for a bit. I ended up having a really late lunch/early dinner of pizza at Zesty’s up on 94th and 3rd before heading back to the garage to get my car and make my way home. It only took me 35 minutes to get in in the morning but over 2 hours to get home! Oh, traffic! I acquired a really bad headache in the car and took a two hour nap when I did finally get home. Still had the headache after that so I went and made my card for today and then watched a little TV. Today Renee has the Scrap Happy Sisters at the store for a class and I want to get my last card for next month’s card class finished and my newsletter started!

Sometime cards just randomly pop into my head and that’s how today’s one came about. I stared off with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and covered the front with a piece of Black 110lb. My background is a piece of Tim Holtz Woodgrain Card that I adhered with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. The circle is a piece of Black 110lb that I cut out with the Lawn Fawn Cross Stitched Circles Stackables Lawn Cuts. That too is adhered with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. The Orchids are from the Hero Arts Color Layering Large Orchid Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Soft Vanilla and Soft Lilac using my Mini MISTI. They are cut out with the Coordinating Frame Cuts and adhered to the circle with E-Z Runner. The rest of the images are from the Hero Arts Hipster at Heart Photopolymer Stamp Set. I heat embossed the Mason jar mugs in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder onto Vellum, the diamond in Gold, also on Vellum, and stamped the camera and mustache in Hero Arts Intense Black. All are cut out with the Coordinating Frame Cuts except for the diamond which I cut out with my Scissors. The mustache and diamond are adhered to the mugs with Dot Runner and then to the card with Foam Tape and Kool-Tak Clear Foam Tape. My greeting is from the Hero Arts Congrats Stamp & Cut Photopolymer Stamp Set, I cut it from Gold Mirror Card and adhered it to a piece of Vellum with Multi-Matte Medium and then to the card with the same. A few Pretty Pink Posh Gold, Sparkling Clear and Charcoal Sequins finish off the card with a little extra shine! I love the mix of floral and masculine elements on the card! I think that it makes for fun and unexpected Wedding card! I hope that you like today’s card! Thank you for sharing in my day! Have a simply wonderful Sunday! 🙂

  1. Nailed it. I may never make a romantic, mushy wedding card again. Hero Arts, Lawn Fawn, and AI should be sending you money–just to name a few!

    1. Thank you Ann! I love the feel of the card, glad that you do too! Thank you for saying that! That means a lot! 🙂

  2. Justin,
I agree with Ann! This is the best wedding card I’ve seen!! Love all the elements you put together. So unique and beautiful at the same time. Love it!!

    1. Thank you so much Gerri! I thought that it was fun and a little different! Glad that you like it too! 🙂

  3. Good Morning Justin:

What a great wedding card. I love the way you used the Mason jar mugs to identify the bride and groom. So clever for sure. Most wedding cards are pretty boring but this one is truly unique and I bet it’s one that would be cherished for its originality and beauty. Fantastic job my friend!!!!

So glad you got to spend the day in Manhattan but so sorry to hear you had yet another bad headache. Perhaps you need to get your eyes checked out. I used to get wicked headaches until I got glasses. If it isn’t, then you need to find out what is causing them. Also – how far is the parking garage from the Ink Pad? Sorry it took you 2 hours to get home but then again, it was Saturday night and you know how that is.

Our friends left this morning with their huge camper. We tried to talk them into staying another day because it a horrible drive headed north on Fridays and south on Sundays from Memorial Day through Labor Day here. The hubs and I always avoid those days when we travel. It’s just not worth the aggravation. You have yourself a Super Sunday. I’ll be watching the race this afternoon. A bit of relaxing after the visitors have left. Love and hugs and wishes for you that your headache is gone, gone, gone. XXOO 🙂

    1. Hi Grace!
Thank you! It reminds me of a Brooklyn wedding for some reason! LOL! I wanted something that wasn’t all delicate and frilly!
I did enjoy my morning in Manhattan! It’s been way too long! I just had my eyes checked a little while ago, they actually feel like sinus headaches, just really bad. When I get some medical I’ll be sure and get them checked out! The garage is at 94th and 2nd, so pretty far! The traffic was bad all over on Saturday. It is what it is!
Hey, you tried to warn them! I hope that you enjoyed your relaxing afternoon! Love and hugs to you my friend! XOXO 🙂

  4. Awesome wedding card! Very clever. Glad yu had a relaxing day in Manhattan. Sory about the HA, trafic will do that. LOl, i do not get HA’s often, but when I get them they are killers.

Grad party was yesterday, I really hate all the prep work of a party, but the actual event is so much fun. Great food, friends and family. Once company left then my kids friends came over, beer pong and a campfire. I have no clue what time party ended. All i know is I collected car keys and no one drove home.

No special plans for today…..we shall see.

    1. Thanks so much Linda! Yes, I did enjoy the city! The headache, not so much and it was killer!
Yes, a party is a lot of work but so much fun! I’m glad that you had a good time and that the kids got to have their friends over. Good for you collecting the keys!
Hope you enjoyed your day! 🙂

  5. What a great, thinking outside the box wedding card, Justin. I love the vellum mason jar mugs, the beautiful orchids and the big congrats greeting. Glad you had a great time in the city. Sorry about your headache. I missed this post and yesterday’s. Life gets in the way sometimes…all good things. lol

    1. Thank you HJ! I thought that it was a nice change for the normal wedding card! The city is always fun for me, the headache was a bummer. Yes, life definitely gets in the way! Thanks for catching up! 🙂
