SUO Challenges 111

Now that was an early morning yesterday! To be somewhere at 6:00AM is even early for me! The rest of the day was uneventful and I was fine with that. I left work at 3:30 and found out that Sam Smith was on Ellenย so I got to watch that. Last night was burgers on the grill with some fries. Yum! It started to rain around 5:30 so I came home and hid in the Stampin’ Galley for a while. I got a few things done and then watched a little TV. This week is a busy week for me. Tomorrow night Andrew and I are going to see the Hunger Games – Mocking Jay Part 1 then on Wednesday I have the Stampin’ Up! Spring Catalog reveal in NJ with Sandy and on Friday I have a birthday party to go to. Not that it’s not fun stuff, but a busy week!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Tag You’re It challenge. Just use a tag on your project, we know how I love a tag! My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of paper from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut a chunk out of a piece of Garden Green and adhered it over the DSP. My tag is a piece of Sahara Sand and I used the Angled Tag Topper Punch to create it. The greeting is from the Mingle All the Way Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I tied a piece of Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine through the top and used some Crystal Effects to adhere the long ends in place and Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhered the tag to the card. A few red sequins finish off the card with a little shine. I’m really loving the negative die cutting and yes, even I can use traditional Christmas colors every once in a while! LOL! I hope that you like my Design Team card for the SUO Challenges Tag You’re It challenge. Head on over to the blog to see what the other Design Team members have for inspiration for you! Thanks a lot for coming by today, I hope that you all have a nice Tuesday and I’ll be sure to let you know how the movie was tomorrow! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Hey Justin, another awesome card! I like the ‘border’ that the framelit leaves just outside the shape, it finishes it off perfectly, and the sequins of course! The Spring catalogue launch sounds fun – can’t wait to hear all about it! Hope your week is as exciting as it sounds ๐Ÿ™‚ Cheers Kelly xx

    1. Hey Kelly!
Thanks so much! I too like the border, some people don’t, but I do! Sequins make everything better! LOL! I am looking forward to the Catalog launch, just with it wasn’t two hours away! It’s been good so far! Have a great evening! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I totally love the Trim The Tree paper stack. The print on your card reminds me of a warm and snuggly sweater. Like how you didn’t cut out the whole circle. Adds a nice visual effect. All the red sequins add the right amount of bling. I also caught Sam’s performance on Ellen. Awesome. Your week may be busy but just think about it, the weekend will be here in a blink of an eye.

    1. Me too Lisa! I love the DSP Stacks! Perfect sizes for cards! I choose that paper because it reminded me of a sweater too! I’m really into using dies cuts in different ways. The green needed something, sequins are always the answer. Sam is just always amazing! You are right, the week will be over before you know it! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Good Morning Justin- I am really liking these Christmas tag cards – the craft paper with the red just reminds me of an old fashioned holiday.
I saw Sam on Ellen yesterday to- I thought of you when I saw him. He seems to be a really nice, warm down to earth guy. Hard to believe he’s only 22!
    Have a good Tuesday.

    1. Hello Marty!
I love the Crumb Cake with Cherry Cobbler, it definitely has a nice old fashioned feel to it! I think it’s great that when you saw Sam you thought of me! He was great as always! He seems very shy to me, but definitely warm and down to earth too I know, I wish I was as accomplished as he is at 22. Hope you had a good Tuesday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. What a great week! Lovely card, but I am more facinated with what you did with the bakers twine! I love that idea, now I have to go find some of those spools…

    1. Yes, it should be a great week! Thank you! The spools are great for the twine, the best part is it gets the kinks out! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Fab, Fab, Fab card today Justin! I agree with Lisa on the paper looking like a snugly sweater. I have to start making a list of the things you do that I never think of like creating the negative effect by doing a partial cut! I better buy a nice thick pad to make notes on because you keep doing these wonderful things with your cards but when I sit down to make cards, I don’t think of them. So – since I’ve made up my mind about that, I’m off to start my list with “do partial negative cuts with Framelits”! You are such an inspiration! Wishing you a Tremendously Terrific Tuesday. Hugs! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thanks so much, Grace! Yes, the paper definitely looks like a sweater. Thankfully, you can just come back and refer to the blog whenever you want to. Think of it as your little reference! LOL! It makes me happy, Grace, that you find me to be such an inspiration. I hope that you too had a terrific Tuesday, and here’s to a wonderful Wednesday. Hugs to you, my friend! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. really like this one today, -20 outside and the card warmed me up, great day for a cozy knit sweater! I like the offset circle too ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thanks very much, Lynne! -20?! That is WAY too cold! Remind me to never visit where you live. LOL! A cozy knit sweater and maybe a few blankets too. Stay warm, my friend! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Hi Justin! Great card for today. As much as I love the non-traditional colors for Christmas cards, I do love a good red and green card. ๐Ÿ˜‰ This one just makes me happy. Could be the sequins! Love the layout too! Hope you had a good day!

    1. Hey Karen! Thanks a lot! We do need a traditionally colored Christmas card every once in a while, I do agree. If the card makes you happy, that makes me happy. I hope you enjoyed your day too! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thanks Linda! Yes, I like your interpretation of the giant ornament. We know how I love a tag. Hope you had a good day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Goodness, your card is so fun looking! Great layering of colors, who would have thunk – Sahara Sand looks perfect with the now called “snuggly sweater” layer. Your partial scallop circle cut really brings a pop to your card – brilliant creative choice ๐Ÿ˜‰ And who doesn’t love sequins! Perfect finishing touch Justin ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you so much Jill! I love Sahara Sand instead of White or Vanilla, makes for a nice change! I love the Snuggle Sweater layer, great name for it! I do love some sequins! Have a wonderful day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. This is a happy card! I love the way the circle was cut out. Refreshing! Now I know why you go to Michael’s — sequins, right? Shiny, sparkly things adds so much fun to a paper card. Have a great day! Nancy B

    1. Yay! I was going for really happy Nancy! I actually don’t get my sequins from Michaels, I go to see Taylor! LOL! Shiny things do make the cards better! Hope you had a nice day! ๐Ÿ™‚
