Ahh… the weathermen, they rarely get things right do they?! It was supposed to snow this morning and then turn to rain around noon. Nope, it snowed all day, thankfully we only got about a inch but boy did it get cold! Tomorrow night it’s supposed to get down to around -10 degrees! I was speaking to my friend Andrea who lives in Colorado and she said that she sent it my way. I said thank but you really don’t have to do things like that! LOL! My office move went smoothly and I had most of it done in about 3 hours. There are still little odds and ends left in my old space but I’ll get to them tomorrow. I picked Andrew up from the Airport last night around 1:00am, his flight was delayed by a little over and hour and they had to wait for a gate for a long time. In fact they didn’t even end up at the Delta terminal! Not too bad considering that if someone sneezes on the tarmac at JFK they close the airport! I was quite happy to have him back but I think that he forgot to bring the warmer weather with him! 🙂
It’s Wednesday and that means that I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew for this week’s sketch…
Fun and simple! I changed a few things around but I stuck pretty closely to it. The card base for today is Basic Black Card Stock. My background is a piece of Very Vanilla and across that bottom is some First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper. I adhered a piece of Lost Lagoon 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the back and slid a “Vintage” Designer Round Ribbon Slide onto it, I still love those things! My panel is also a piece of Very Vanilla and my image is from the Guy Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped on Memento Tuxedo Black. I backed it with some Basic Black and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The “World’s Greatest” and “Hats Off to You!” are also from the same set and are stamped in Lost Lagoon. The “World’s Greatest” Is cut out with my Paper Snips and the other greeting is flagged on the left. Both are adhered to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. I punched out a piece of Lost Lagoon with the 3/4″ Circle Punch to back another hat from the Guy Greeting Set that I cut out with my Paper Snips and popped that up on a Stampin’ Dimensional too! I love the colors and the nice maculae feel to the card, even with the ribbon! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Cute card and nice use of that stamp set. As much as I like it, I have been struggling with ways to use it. Love your card. With that late pick up at JJFK last night/this morning, I’m sure you’ll be running on lots of caffeine today!!!
Thank you Melanie! I love that stamp set, one of my favorites from the catalog! It was a very late pick up and somehow I made it through the day on 3 hours of sleep! I did take a nap for a bit when I got home! 🙂
Just love this card. The colors are great! Glad your move went well. Please don’t tell me -10 next week. WHAT?
🙂
Thank you Nancy! I know, the weather is not good at all!! Can’t wait until spring! 🙂
Well, I was trying to avoid this stamp set, but I think after seeing how cool it is on your card, I might have to cave! It just tugs at my vintage-lovin’ heart! TFS this and have a great 2015, Justin!
Funny LeAnne, I thought of you when I saw the set for the same vintage-lovin’ reason! Glad that you like the card! I hope that you have a fantastic 2015! 🙂
Hi Justin! Such a cool card! I have that stamp set coming in my order tomorrow…yay! Can’t wait to play around with it. Love the dsp you used as well. So glad Andrew’s back safe and sound! Late night for you wasn’t it? I’ll have to check out your blog on my laptop as I don’t see the Brooklyn Bridge on my old desktop computer that I use for my blog surfing. Have a great day and keep warm!!
Hey Karen!
Thanks! There are some really great images in the set, it’s definitely one of my favorites! It was a very late night, three hours of sleep isn’t enough for even me! It was a rough day!I think that the picture might be a bit far down if you have a smaller screen. I’ll have to play around with it! Hope you had a good day and I’m trying my best to stay warm! 🙂
Well I wasn’t going to buy this stamp set because I couldn’t think of a reason to. Now I can. Great card and thanks for sharing!!
Yay! Thank you very much Connie! 🙂
Hi Justin:
I don’t see the Brooklyn Bridge either but I think that the body of the blog covers it? Anywhoooooo – I really like the Lost Lagoon accents with the black and white. I bypassed this stamp set also but now that I see what you’ve done with it I’ll have to rethink it for sure. Great masculine card and those are the ones I have the most trouble with. Women’s cards are pretty easy – we all love flowers so that is what I go to most often.
Glad you finally got into the new office. Hopefully it’s larger than what you had previously and that you enjoy your new space. I’m also happy to hear that Andrew has returned safely. I know what you mean about JFK. When I was working and traveling all the time JFK was one of my least favorite airports to deal with along with O’Hare. My favorites were Atlanta and Tom Green in R.I. Dallas is a fabulous airport also but they never give you enough time to get from one terminal to the next and the place is HUGE!
You have yourself a Wonderful Wednesday. We woke up to -12 so I”m having a hard time commiserating with you. LOL Hugs to you my friend! 🙂
Hello Grace!
I think that I need to play around with the picture as it may be too far down on smaller screens. Sorry! I love that Lost Lagoon and the stamp set is definitely a favorite! I find ladies cards easier too, but I think that’s because of the plethora of florals that Stampin’ Up! has!
Yes, I’m happy to be in my new home! It’s not that much bigger but all of my stuff fits in nicely! I have never seen that much traffic at JFK that late! It was mobbed! I am also not a fan of Delta at all! It seems that whoever I know that flies them has issues of some kind! I thought that Atlanta was a good airport too bit my favorite was Long Beach, CA. Just a nice little airport and I would give anything to be there right now! It’s far too cold for me here!! LOL! Sorry about your cold weather too! I need Spring stat!! LOL! Hugs to you Grace!! XOXO 🙂
great card! I love your ideas. The color combination is perfect!
Thank you very much Britta! 🙂
Hi Justin, I would gladly send this hot weather your way – I got in my car after work yesterday to find my Ed Sheeran cd cover had melted! I’m so over it :-/ a little snow would be very welcome! I love your card today, and how you managed to use ribbon on a guy’s card without it looking girly, lol! I have had a quick look at the new catalogues, lots of goodies to put on my wish list – good thing I returned to work! Have a great day Justin xxx 🙂
Hello Kelly!
I would take a melted CD case over -10 any day! Love Ed Sheeran by the way! You can have all of the snow and freezing temps, I’ll get on the horn to Mother Nature and see what I can do! LOL! So happy that you enjoyed the card! I need a third job to support my stamping habit! You stay cool and I’ll stay warm!! XOXO 🙂
OMG! Love the masculine card, this is one area that I struggle with, masculine cards. Love youyr colors and of course the vintage look.
Well bundle up, we will be at -14 tonite with wind chils of -45 and its heading your way. I am done with this weather, I am actually counting down until Spring, take care
Thanks very much Linda!! I love that stamp set and, well, Lost Lagoon and that Typeset DSP are high on my list as you know! Please don’t feel obligated to send the weather to me, send it north!! I am with you on the countdown to Spring! There we go wishing away the year again! 🙂
Hi Justin, first… oh my, I sure do love your card! The girls and I were googling over this set, and we all loved the hats. I haven’t ordered it yet, but I will this month for sure. I now know what I can make…. a case of yours! LOL Glad Andrew got back safely, and that you got some nap time. 🙂 As for the blog, I have never seen the Bridge, but I thought your new blog was just a lot of blue sky, which I felt was really calming…. So. since I haven’t changed computers at all, not sure what happened? In any case, I do love the blue sky…. Have an awesome day, friend.!
Hello Bobbi!
Thanks very much! I think that the stamp set is just great! LOL! CASE Away! Yes, although I think that Andrew would rather be back in Florida as would I. But I will be there at the end of the month! I think that I have the picture too low. I’m going to try and fix it when I get home. The sky is nice but the bridge is great! I had a good day, hope that you did too! 🙂
