That was definitely a nice surprise day off yesterday! I did manage to clean up the Stampin’ Galley a bit and then spent the better part of the day crafting! I also got to FaceTime with Maggie and Skyped with Andrea and Eva! An excellent way to spend the day while it snowed… all day! We got 6 inches and it got really cold again last night. I had dinner with my parents and Taylor and then after Taylor and I cleaned off my car and went to Target. I needed to get Winston some food and I was almost out of 1/2 & 1/2. I really do hope that the weathermen are right and that it will start to warm up next week. We, along with most of the rest of the country, have had more than enough Winter! Please feel free to make way for spring! Here are some pictures from yesterday.
You can see the line from where the last round of snow was!
I can usually walk under the tree, it’s about 3 feet off the ground under the weight of all of the snow.
It’s Friday!! It seems such a waste to go back to work for one day! LOL! But I guess we must! It’s a Fab Friday this week and we have a color challenge for you…
I got so in to making the card that I forgot to include one of the colors, see if you can guess which one it was! The card begins with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. Next up is a piece of Blushing Bride that I cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles. On top of that is a piece of paper from the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper Pack. My main panel is a piece of Crumb Cake, also cut out with the Stitched Rectangles, I stamped the image from the Butterfly Basics Photopolymer Stamp Set in Versa-Mark and heat embossed it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. To color it in I scribbled some Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzaz and So Saffron Stampin’ Write Markers onto Clear-Mount Block and used a wet brush to watercolor the image. My greeting is from the Lovely Amazing You Photopolymer Stamp Set and is also heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The Blushing Bride panel is adhered to the card with SNAIL and the DSP and Crumb Cake are adhered to each other and then to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added a few Doodlebug and Pretty Pink Posh Sequins adhering them with Crystal Effects. Finally I stamped the butterfly from the same set in Hello Honey on Hello Honey and punched it out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch. I love all of the layers slightly askew and the White embossing with the watercoloring is fun! I hope that you enjoyed my card for the Fab Friday color challenge. Don’t forget to pay a visit to the blog and see the rest of the design team’s projects! Thank you for stopping by and I wish us all an absolutely fantastic Friday! 🙂

Happy Friday Justin. Sweet card- I really like the look of white embossing – I will have to try the watercolor technique you described- sounds fun!
The snow is so pretty but now comes the big melt! That’s going to be another adventure…..
Happy Friday Marty!
Thank you! I love the white embossing colored in, it’s nice and bold!
The snow is pretty but I would prefer to travel to see it rather than just look outside my window! LOL! Yes, hopefully the melt happens slowly! 🙂
This card is beautiful!! Love heat embossing. I live in NE Ohio and I am sooo over this extreme cold and snow. The sky last night was clear and the moon looked full so it was COLD!! 3 degrees at 10:15 last night when the last of my stamp class ladies left. I am ready for SUN and HOT weather…I will punch anyone who complains about it being too hot this summer!! LOL!
Thank you very much MaryJo! I think that the heat embossing just adds so much to card, it’s definitely my favorite thing to do! I think that we all are done with the Winter all together! 3 degrees is insanely cold! I am definitely ready for the hot weather! I am with you! Throat punch to the first person that complains about the heat! LOL! 🙂
HI Justin:
I cannot see where you missed one of the colors in your card. Looks like you got them all to me and not only that but you combined them beautifully! This is one color challenge I doubt I actually could have met but you did a fabulous job for sure. I’m so glad you got to enjoy a day of no pressure crafting. Those are the days that are the most fun!
Love the photos you sent. Doesn’t look like there is too much snow piled in the yard. We have about 3 ft. all compressed from the sun shining on it. Hopefully we will have some warm days and cool nights to allow for slow melting so we don’t have to go through the flooding that has occurred other years. We will see!
Hope you have a fantastic Friday and have some fun plans for the weekend. I’m still playing “catch up” on my to do list so I’m leaving the running around until next week. I don’t like to shop on the weekends because I like to leave that time open for those people that still work Monday thru Friday. I think all us retirees should do our shopping during the week and cut down on the wait time for those still working. Big hugs my friend! 🙂
Hello Grace!
I actually added the Hello Honey butterfly after I finished the card! LOL! I’m glad that you couldn’t tell! I really like the Blushing Bride with the Calypso Coral! Not two colors that I would have paired up! I had the best day just crafting and chatting on FaceTime with friends!
Glad that you like the pictures! It looks like a lot of snow to me but I’m sure that you have much more! I am thinking that it will melt slowly but be messy for a while! I think that we will have piles of snow well into June! LOL!
My Friday was good! I am laying low this weekend, I need to do some stuff around the house, organizing and cleaning a bit. I am always playing catch up with my to do list! It needs to get to done this weekend! I don’t like to go to the stores on the weekend either, I usually go late at night! Huge hugs to you!! XOXO 🙂
Hi Justin! A beautiful card today! Very spring-like, which we all need. The sequins are just perfect on here! I think that was a difficult color combo but you did great with it! Nice pics of the snow. It is getting old, isn’t it? We will definitely appreciate Spring when it arrives. I gasped when you said you almost ran out of 1/2 & 1/2! Egads! I can’t enjoy my coffee without it! 😉 Have a great Friday!
Hello Karen!
Thank you! Yes, we need as much Spring as we can get! I love a sprinkling of sequins, gives it a little oomph! Yes the snow is getting very old! You can imagine how panicked I was when I realized that I had no 1/2 & 1/2. With all of the coffee I drink! LOL! I would have walked to Target to get it! Hope you had a nice Friday! 🙂
Hello Honey! Right? Isn’t that what you forgot? Oh–pardon me. Did you think that was my greeting? Hehe. Happy Friday, Justin.
LOLOL! Ha ha! Yes Georgie! I added the butterfly after I finished the card! I’ll take Hello Honey from you as a greeting! Happy Friday to you too! 🙂
Hello, Everyone! Yes, we had another 6 or 8 inches of snow with a thick layer of ice underneath. The Ohio River is over flood stage, but the flood warnings are in effect through Wednesday. The temps are supposed to go up into the 40’s, 50’s, and even 60’s next week! Yes, I agree that if anyone complains about summer heat, I will run them over with my husband’s snowplow! He was out for 4 hours clearing our very long private drive yesterday! No more snow please!!!
Justin, your card today is so pretty! You used the Calypso marker, so the third color is covered, isn’t it? The butterfly stamp set is so versatile! Have a great day! The sun is shining here!!! Nancy B
Hi Nancy!
Sounds like a lovely weather mess by you too! Isn’t the Winter fun?! NOT! We are supposed to get warmer nest week too, thank god! Ha ha! We are going to be a violent bunch this Summer aren’t we?! I think that we are done with the snow! Please! Yes, I missed the Hello Honey but got it in there after I finished the card! Hope your day was good! The sun was shining here too! 🙂
Hey Justin, this card is so pretty! I love the look of coloured in white embossing, especially on crumb cake! Glad you had a nice surprise day off, you’re right, my bosses never would have believe our office was snowed under… AND we had the air conditioner running too, lol! Never mind, it’s Saturday morning now, and we have a long weekend for the Adelaide Cup horse race (which I couldn’t care less about) but hey, who’s gonna turn down a Monday off – not me! Enjoy what’s left of your Friday Justin! 🙂 xoxo
Hi Kelly!
Thank you! I too love that white embossing with the watercoloring and the Crumb Cake is great to do it on! No, I didn’t think that your boss would believe that your office was snowed in! LOL! That’s a good thing! We will have air-conditioning soon, I hope! Lucky that you have off Monday! See you got your “snow day”! LOL! Happy Saturday to you! XOXO 🙂
Wow, this is a beauty. I love your colors and I love how you layered the DP.I really need to emboss more. Pictures are gorgeous but I would appreciate them if thus was December, at this point we are all so done. They predict above freezing this weekend, I’m praying
Thanks so much Linda! I love the layering! The colors were fun too! Yes, we all need to emboss more! I love it! I would like them to just be pictures and not reality when I walk outside! LOL! Yes, we are all well past done! 🙂
Like the way you used the Lily(?) flower stem with the Lovely Amazing You sentiment. The Calypso Coral layer is so cool, the white embossing pulls this layer in, love the way it looks. Umm, I think you might have forgotten the Hello Honey and added the butterfly OR I actually think it was the Blushing Bride, hence the extra layer 🙂
So glad you had so much fun yesterday! Can’t believe how much snow y’all are getting!! Stay warm 🙂
Thank you Jill! Yes, I think it’s a lily! And you are correct, I forgot the Hello Honey! LOL!
I did have a good day off, I’m always happiest when I can make something crafty! 🙂
Justin,
Your cards are always so beautiful but this one is one of my favorites! You really made the flower from ‘Butterfly Basics’ come alive. So so pretty!! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much Gerri! I love the watercoloring, it’s so nice and subtle! 🙂
